This thread is extremely useless as it’s already been said that there are no new weapon types being introduced and that every class will get one new weapon.
I’ve had it happen to me prior to the patch. It still persists and is very frustrating at times, though.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the latency indicator is on a delay from the past 5 minutes. Out of curiosity, where is this option in the UI?
Any major update, you better believe they’re doing regression on their current feature set. I don’t really take your word on this matter as you clearly have no real world experience in the matter.
They do not do a full regression on every patch as it’s not needed. Based on their major releases (next tier version), that’s when they do them. Again, basing this off of my real life experience, they do perform standard regression on their feature set with patches and full regression on major updates. That’s the standard for agile which I can make a very good assumption that’s method they’re using.
Total crap. Do you think for every patch they test every single world boss every time? If there were no changes to Teq, they wouldn’t have tested Teq. They are testing the things they change. A bug that creeps into one specific boss is impossible to track down unless they’re specifically testing for it.
Annoying sure. It’s annoying. But expecting every piece of older content to be tested every time there’s a patch…that’s not realistic.
This is where you’re wrong. Any “major” update that they push out, they test everything with the game. This is standard regression testing with automation. What you need to understand is that when the term “tested” is used, it does not entirely involve a QA person testing an aspect of the game. Automated testing is done for the vast majority of software, including video games. QA almost always does their manual testing on new feature sets or changed features. For the case of Teq, nothing has changed so they will utilize automated test scripts for that and if they don’t “fail” then it’s a “pass”.
Now who knows what type of automation they use to test this but these things do get tested with every update. I speak from experience and as a current dev manager in healthcare.
It’s not working better before as they took away areas to teleport to. And no, not on Thief either as you cannot shadow step in some areas up stairs.
Release date and pricing information will be released today.
Thief is getting a rifle. Mark it.
Stop bumping a thread after just 13 minutes…
If you’re good, people will find you.
Does Josh really have a soul patch? Uhh……..
Killing PvP? Hardly.
It is unfun to down someone only to have a thief cloak or some other class come in and cc you away. I don’t see it belonging in PvP mainly due to the small skirmishes/fights. But here we are with the game mode we’re dealt with.
hmmmm wonder whats going to happen on NA

SAB making a come back!
It’d be a real kick in the doolards if they didn’t push out the update on Tuesday to take out SAB last minute.
If non-trinity was so awesomesauce why did all those people leave?
I think you’re misinterpreting the reason why people leave the game. The trinity setup is nothing more than how a class is played. People (PvErs) left the game because there is a severe lack of end-game content to keep them busy and something to work towards.
And then you have people potentially leaving the game because PvP has no arena style mode, match making is a complete joke, and the leaderboards doesn’t show skill but rather time played.
None of this has to do with how the class design is in GW2 but rather the lack of expanding on PvE and PvP.
Forum bug!…..
Why is it hard for people to grasp that having an old system doesn’t need to carry over to other games? ANet has done a really good job so far with breaking that status quo with GW2. What they need to focus on is more challenging content for PvE.
Good lawdy, you all sound like the dude died. He moved onto other things with his career – it happens.
Because the people who follow these streamers are kids/teenagers at best. They idolize them because of their e-fame and ride their coattails trying to get a whiff of their “success”. This is why these streamers typically have a wall of shout outs to whomever donates because they know people will just to have very little recognition.
Have you guys considered that maybe mesmer will get shield as a main hand weapon only.
Thus you could use main hand shield with off hand pistol/sword, etc.
xD
No that’ll never happen.
We better be the first class reveal when they start rolling out the weekly updates. Way too much speculation, a lot if ANet hyperbole and a lot of unknowns with this class going into HoT.
Vertical porting isn’t being completely removed. Just some spots are not going to be able to be ported to. What/where this means seems to be up in the air and will really be a “wait and see”.
One thing’s for sure – if our mobility does go down, we’re going to be hurting quite a bit.
There’s an old saying… “No use crying over spilled milk.”
Well, everyone here is crying before the milk is even spilled. Heck, you don’t even know if there’s milk IN the glass TO spill. Your not even sure there IS a glass to knock over.
Previous history and time after time again is why people are saying what they’re saying because the track record is abyssmal for ANet and mesmers.
Its nice that your optimistic but a lot of us have been through the same sing and dance if “mesmers will be game changers” before and it has failed miserably.
Until ANet can show us otherwise, we are cautiously optimistic trending pessimistic and rifghtfuly so.
Everyone is crying about what was seen in ~5 seconds of video. I think some of you need to get outside more.
What we know is that each profession gets a new specialization that would replace their core mechanic. And a new weapon for that specialization. So we see a video of what looks like a Mesmer with a shield casting a spell.
We also know that the new Revenant class has a new interesting mechanic and that by changing his elite, all his utility skills change.
So lets say that Mesmer’s does only get a shield as a new weapon with our specialization. Who’s to say that when we equip the shield, that the skills on our MH weapons don’t change with it. Maybe in addition to the 2 new shield skills, the currrent “illusion-based” skills on the sword & scepter will be replaced for new skills that support our new mechanic?
Maybe instead of everyone crying "we’re only getting 2 new skills
", we should be saying “SWEET, we get 8 new skills!!!”
The point is we simply don’t have enough information on what’s going to happen. And to scream bloody murder at ANet based on conjecture is just wasted energy.
Thanks for reading. And I hope everyone has a nice day.
For us who have been around since day one, we’ve heard the same story from ANet. They promise great things to us and make questionable changes so the majority of us are jaded towards anything they say at this point. The old saying of actions speak louder than words has never been more accurate for ANet and Mesmer updates.
I’m viewing the expansion as a way to determine if I’m going to maintain mesmer as my main. If not then back to guardian or see how revenant plays out.
I stopped using portal when I go up against LB rangers who Judy sit there and attack. Feedback has been quite useful as of late.
But I usually run portal, null field, or mantra.

What sounds good about it is that based on what they’re saying, Mesmers are going to be put back into the “meta” for PvP. It’s all pure speculation but at least take that away from what was said.
Now that I’m thinking about it, I can see them give us main hand pistol. They said they were giving classes a new weapon and pistol isn’t new. It’d make sense for them to show shield as it is new. And maybe not telling but we do have a trait that increases the pistols range. This thought is giving me a little bit of hope.
Stop over to the Mesmer forums and see how bad it is that they’re giving us shield rather than a main-hand that we so desperately need.
I’m still holding out that they give us another man hand option. If we wind up just having an off-hand shield then I’m out of this class quicker than you can equip the shield.
It’d be nice for us to get a better picture of what to expect if they released information regarding Mesmer specializations in HoT soonish.
A modified burning build that I’ve been running in unranked level 51 pvp
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQRAsf7dlsApaolDxbI8DNR8QZ1IUdAkAP61/wMkDA-TJhAABws/A0PBgxKDAwJBAA
The nice part is that we have multiple ways of applying burning so I’m not really concerned when it is removed. All about duration and maximizing burns.
I would rather risk missing my queue pop because of a cinematic or long loading screen and have to queue for another 8 minutes than to just sit around in the Mists doing nothing but waiting for that queue to pop. That is because waiting for 8 minutes doing nothing is worse than doing something for 16 minutes. Just warn new players with this message (or something similar) upon queuing:
“Queuing for sPvP will place you into a queue system. Once you have a spot ready to compete you will be forced into the arena upon acceptance of the queue or you will have to queue again. When the match is over you will be returned but any progress made in an instance will be reset.”
[ ]: Check the box to NEVER SEE THIS MESSAGE AGAIN.
This last part is key. It would drive me nuts If I had to queue and “X” out of this message EVERY TIME that I queued.
The point of forcing people to stay in the mists from Anet’s design perspective is that if people are doing PvE events and actual activities, that will give people the motive to reject the queue. There was no rejecting the queue before, which was overall an improvement to reduce AFK people getting forced in.
Don’t shoot the messenger, I don’t fully support Arenanet’s philosophy on staying in the mists..
I would think the system can simply pull a replacement for people who do reject the queue, or are AFK, like it currently does, but who knows?
They specifically said that they don’t have out if Mists queueing is because if the load times. People would be dropped from the queue if they were to try and load the map. It doesn’t have to do with people rejecting the queue while pveing.
Why does everyone who broadcasts with commentary on these things sound like they belong as wrestling announcers?
From the few times I’ve watched these streams, I had to mute the volume.
For the love of the game, give me an option to turn off the stupid, unnecessary tron backpack voice.
I don’t need to constantly hear, “Your grawl impression is really coming along.”
Of course they have a tentative release date based on their current back log, and any design changes that come up when they have a beta.
We’ll only get a release date when the core of HoT is for the most part completed and they feel comfortable that what they’re putting out is ‘right’.
They’re simply following a product/release road map that, I can only imagine based on experience, shows a minimum of 6 months of milestones.
Just sit tight, take in the information we receive on a weekly basis, and soon before you know it, HoT will be out.
I have a feeling guardian shield is going to be buffed to have floating shields that provides protection to yourself and people in a radius. Only basing this off of them having new technology of abilities which they’ll use with current abilities.
Are people really this naive to think that the current stability abilities are going to stay as is? Talk about shouting doom and gloom…
Everyone appears to be under the assumption that the current professions will not get updated (outside of specializations). Knee jerk reactions like this is nothing new so just sit back, relax, and wait until more information is released about the current professions.
This mentality isn’t anything new – new class revealed and people wanting to jump ship because they’re frustrated with their class. But when more information is released about their own class, people rethink of ditching their current main. That’s not to say everyone does that, though.
I don’t think we’ll see an over abundance of Revenant’s as main’s after a short while they’re released. A bit more in depth mechanics of the class, a bit more micro managing that people might not want to be bothered with.
Anyways, who know’s what’s in store with Guardians? We could get information that is completely unexpected and welcoming.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing class specific specializations come out after today. But so far, Revenant is looking mighty good from the limited look they gave us today.
They need to redesign their ranked play to include visible MMR and set a +- variable as to who you are matched up against.
It baffles me that they created this system when they really could have used other reliable MMR/ladder/ranked systems. They tried to create a better wheel but fell well short of the desired outcome.
I have very little faith in Josh Davis and his team to rectify this without a complete overhaul and start making PvP an eSport.
Please don’t bump a thread that’s not even 24 hours from last post. Also, it does reek seeing as how you pimp “Please send gold/t6 mats!!!!” so just let this thread take its natural course.
I could only take 1 minute of the video due to the kittene music but good intentions nonetheless.
Renewed Focus is the only elite worth taking but it’s not elite by any means. I’m really hoping our new specialization gives us something truly elite.
Two things: trolling or a dillusional person.
This video showed nothing that would indicate nothing other than sub par play against players who know less about playing this game than the OP.
If these skills are accurate then Longbow is going to be the new meta. Pure speculation of course but considering the abilities, it far outweighs our current range. I’d just like to see damage modifiers.
I’d be fine with Staff, Sword/Sword, Sword/Pistol, Sword/Dagger, and maybe an Axe or Mace.
I’d be fine if they swapped the Focus and Shield skills due to the personal opinion that Focus skins are bad. I’d rather run around with a shield.
There’s usually two sides to every story so I highly doubt that it’s just your play that’s causing this to happen. Shirley you must say something…
Or they could have read Khenzy’s as it clearly points it out in the beginning of the reddit post. Which is really more than enough than just regurgitating the same link with a close up of a horrifically pixelated animated gif.
It’s like you didn’t even read the post right above yours…
Nice observation! I think we all deep down inside know it’s going to be a longbow but hold out for maybe something different.
