The cast time to go into Tomes needs to be instant or at most, 1/4 cast time.
I don’t see how you can compare extremely mobile FPS characters to a slow moving MMO character.
Lucio and Mercy have disengages and speed boosts.
FB… has nothing.
FB has the potential to be a good support elite but due to its inherent design by having everything on long cooldoens and cast times is going to restrict this elite from being viable in pvp.
FB overall melts way too quick when focused by two players. FB shines in team fights if you’re not getting focused but right now with the lackluster abilities, long cast time and cool downs on the abilities, you’re more of a liability.

This thread is proof that people that spout their kitten in here do not play the game at all.
Firebrand mantras and books are insanely powerful and will be severely nerfed in the coming weeks.
With no stability and long cast times, how are mantras and toms extremely powerful? Sure in a fight where you don’t get focused it does damage but any remote focus and you’re history.
That sounds like an unintended bug.
Except Tomes with their 3/4 cast time to go into it and another 3/4 – 1 1/4 to cast an ability is 2 seconds of not doing anything and you’re easily CC’d.
Tomes need to be at most, 1/4 cast time to go into them and the 3/4 – 1 1/4 cast time of abilities need to be shortened.
Too much switching to make use of skills with cooldowns.
F3→4→F2→5→Mantra Heal.
You’re really penalized by going into a Tome. If the cooldown was based on how many pages you have left it maybe better.
Tome switching should be 1/4 cast time.
The cast times on Tomes need to be looked at. 3/4-1+ seconds just doesn’t flow nicely in PvP.
Not sure if bug but Renewed Focus is only refreshing Tome of Justice.
It refreshes both courage and resolve in wvw for me.
It doesnt refresh an active tome though.
If you’re in an active tome and have others on cooldown and use RF, it doesn’t refresh the tomes (in PvP).
So far Firebrand is very underwhelming. It plays so slow in PvP that you get steamrolled quite hard before really pushing out damage.
The lack of range and the slow casting are probably the biggest downfalls on this elite.

Space against them as condi mes. They only have one condi you need to be worried about, ez cleanse. Solid scrapper player should also be able to deal with them.
not with the Firebrand… they get acces to some good cover condis like bleeding, cripple, weakness, vul, immob, blindness.
Firebrand mantras are all 3/4-1 second cast time. Plenty of reaction time to dodge.

Noone understands guardian cause we are in a good spot from 2012.
Firebrand seems excellent on static golem. They forgot that ppl move in wvw and pvp…. Plus 300 cone….. Its like staff nerf, FB is condi turtle lootstick.
Yeah that’s exactly what I mean. How can they sit in a room and design a class that is frontline based on the axe skills, mantras that are in a cone, utterly subpar healing, no movement speed increases, no real defensive skills, and call it a good balanced PvP spec.

Waypoints suck. They serve a purpose to get somewhere quickly, but there’s no joy in it. It’s not exciting or anything.
Because it is so much more exciting to travel across a map for the hundredth time, for instance, when you died or need to get to an event on the other end of the map?
This is where I think ANet missed the mark. If we have 1-2 waypoints per map (which are supposedly the largest maps they’ve created) then it’s not going to be fun like you said.
I want the convenience of instant travel rather than having to AFK run on a mount to get someplace.
This is really taking a step back in this game, that’s for sure.
I want my waypoints back. I don’t care for having to run through a zone. Sure it’s probably fun the first two times but afterwards it’s just a tedious thing to do.

As mentioned, when HoT first came out they forced the WvW population to grind the new maps with everyone else too but after the outcry they later introduced hero points that you got through leveling ranks.

Getting Hero points via WvW wasn’t available at launch of HoT. This was a concession given by Anet a bit later.
They announced they were doing proof of heroics on Oct 19th 2015, HoT launched Oct 23rd 2015.

No they did not, proofs got added way later into the expansion. And even then you could not buy those level thingies.
You can use proofs to unlock the new elites as they grant hero points.

Balancing of skills is within responsibilites of balance team, not wvw team, server linking is still beign worked on, incentivizing small groups, well I’d like to hear here a suggestions because everything I have seen them trying was creating uproar of angry zerglings, and alot of existing incentives are flatly ignored for the zerg powah.as for reasons to win….

There’s an incentive to win in spvp but not in wvw. Winning doesn’t give you anything in this game. Not even an outfit, title, nothing. There needs to be something other than winning because really, what’s the point?

Where are you guys seeing that it’s in a frontal cone?
The image shows a 360’degree radius with a center indicating that it’s not a frontal cone ability to me.
That’s just the symbol for range, it’s not meant to match the hitbox.
All mantras are 300 range cones, like the nerfed Staff 1.
All mantras are not cones and the one’s that are specifically say “… in front of you.”
If they aren’t cones, then half of them wouldn’t say “Do X/Y/Z to allies in front of you”, and they would also have a radius skill fact instead of a range skill fact. They’re definitely cones.
I’m glad they’re cones, just for the sake of spiting people who actually like the firebrand.

Channeled skills have always stayed on target through stealth.
And be more clear when you’re mentioning skills. Which skills specifically?
This was most likely lag but I had burning on me, popped RF, popped Smite Condition, but the burn guard had zealots fire active and it applied burn to me.
I don’t mind the cast time but the one change suggest is make them ground target AoEs instead of requiring targets.
They’re not pets anymore, they’re just fancier looking AoE attacks, at least let us ground target them
This would ultimately change them to spawn at the target location which would be a most welcomed change.

Empowered Illusions – Illusions deal more damage. +15% dps
Dazzling – Dazing a foe also applies vulnerability.
Fragility – Deal more damage for each stack of vulnerability on your target.
Imagined Burden – Whenever you or a clone uses Spatial Surge, you gain might. All of your other greatsword skills inflict cripple. Reduces recharge time of greatsword skills.
Mental Anguish – Shatter skills deal more damage. This damage increase is doubled against foes that are not activating skills.
and now… new traits…
Superiority Complex – Your critical hits deal more damage. Critical hit damage against disabled foes, or foes below the health threshold, is further increased.
Phantasmal Force- Phantasms’ damage permanently increases whenever they attack or gain might.
And still … want more power damage? No thanks, Mirage specialization need damage conditions, especially trait with mechanic of Confusion and Torment.
You have some serious condition bias that it’s out of this world.
You really did miss the Inspiration line that pumps out Confusion and Torment on every shatter skill.
I’m still not sure why you’re so against the choice of having power or condition for an elite. This doesn’t impact you at all but you’re so bent on having more condition damage so you do you.

I only agree with making the shield instacast since it’s a defensive skill. The sword and hammer should not be instacast, they do a lot of damage and having them be instant makes it very hard to avoid getting hit. especially the hanmer.
So what about Mesmers Mantra of Pain that’s instant cast and can hit for around 6k?
OW is a fantastic game.
One thing I’ve noticed is that you don’t get too many people speaking on voice comma in OW nor do you listen to ragers often. They mainly are keyboard warriors.
Voice would probably help pvp but it’s not going to save or reinvigorate pvp. We have other massive issues that take precedence and that’s balance and matchmaking.
Burn Guardian is the easiest counter in this game. If you’re dying to one constantly then it’s a pretty clear l2p issue. But people will complain and pass blame onto others.
Add distance damage to catapults. Simple as that. The closer you are to a wall the less damage you’ll do if further away.
Don’t expect much to change functionality wise with Tomes. The best that we can hope for is them shaving the cast times on them so it’s at least somewhat viable in PvP… because it just screams lockdown when casting.
If Sword of Justice worked exactly like Mesmer’s Mantra of Pain (I think 1 second cooldown between uses) then it’d be worth a look.
As of now, ToF still is much better as it also applies a cripple effect and can get more burst out of it with push and pulls.

I think I started at Silver 1 and ended up in Platinum 2. I played around 150 games, won more than 50%. With the inclusion of legendary armor to PvP, I’m just going to focus on playing as many games as possible and not caring about winning/losing as much. I have enough shards and tickets for 2 legendary items so I’m going to try and finish the last 4 once the new season starts.
I’m sorry but this is the problem with PvP rewards at the moment. It’s great that it draws more people into PvP (and well done on that climb to P2), but whenever a system rewards losses and encourages “I don’t care about winning/ losing” mentality, the quality of pvp becomes awful.
Sure, keep PvE rewards in PvP, but make people earn rather than grind them. This applies to all abilities of PvP.
If a system didn’t reward losing then you won’t have many people playing. It’s pretty much a catch 22. But I played my games sparingly because I didn’t want to get stuck in a massive losing slide. I could’ve easily doubled my games played but chose not to. Now, I don’t have an incentive to keep rank because I know I’ll never reach legendary so it’s moot for me to really care about rank. To clarify what I Mean that I don’t care about winning/losing is what I just wrote – instead of limiting my game play to keep rank, now I won’t care about doing so and will play (to win – winning grants more pips) but I don’t care if I lose.

Yea with the amount of tickets(300) and ascended shards of glory , completing the full set takes 3 seasons if you start from 0 tickets so thats approx 10months or 1 year including off season times . It would be really nice if we could get league tickets by some other way atleast during off season because Wvw and Raid legendary armor is faster compared to this.
Bruh, what are you talking about? You get 100 shards for repeating Byzantium chest and there’s no cap on how many times you can repeat it.

Spvp needs 300 tickets and 3k ascshards of glory
Unlike Wvw we cant get tickets every week its just 100 tickets per season so it takes 3 seasons for full set for us ( this doesn’t include the precursor armor)
3 seasons = nearly 7 months and the off season duration is at about 4 months
So its nearly a year of wait to get legendary armor via PvP
Except there’s no weekly cap on Ascended Shards and you get 100 shards on every 6th repeatable Byzantium chest.
We just have to deal with no active season and the uncertainty of when it’ll start back up.
