I’m still not sure why your rating and your teams average rating isn’t shown in matches. I can only speculate that they don’t do this because they’re constantly changing the system behind the scenes without telling us. Almost every other pvp game shows this information so why not GW2…?

These WvW updates are reminding me of when Devon Carver was the designer for WvW.
Looking at McKenna’s linkedin profile, it’s no wonder we’re seeing these changes to WvW. There needs to be a more seasoned, knowledgeable person running the design team than these people who have no real experience.

ANet’s game design team likes to overly complicate portions of their game.
There is zero purpose to complicate participation and pip acquisition to this decay system that’s associated with many variables of maintaining it.
I have just never seen a development team at any levels go to great lengths to over-engineer simple systems.
Hey sorry for the delay. Outnumbered is applied at the start of the tick. This means you’ll only gain or lose it at the start of the tick. So if you are on a map is Outnumbered at the start of the tick you’ll get Outnumbered pips for that tick provided you don’t change maps.
Why not go with a simpler and better solution and get rid of the bonus pips to Outnumbered maps but reward bonus pips for continued participation on a map?
Ya know, actually reward those who fill maps and play.
How is it unfair? Everyone has access to obtain it so I don’t see how it is remotely unfair.
The new decay timer is madness. How the hell do they expect you to maintain? Forget about defense on keeps/refreshing siege…
Don’t lock the new weapons to the elite traits. It’s stupid to continue this.

Haha oh I know. But for McKenna to say that without even a hint as to what is to come is just terrible communication. He/she could’ve said nothing and just put it in the next update and it’d be business as usual.

You should take off those rose colored glasses of the world you’re living in and come back to reality.
Gambling, in a sense, has been going on for a good 50+ years where kids take part in it. Have you ever heard of sports cards and kids buying sports packages trying to get a specific card?
Would be intresting what happens if confusion gets nerfed (like no damage without skill use) and power shatter a buff to be viable… So basically move mesmer from condi to power …
Confusion was already like that and they changed it to tick.

They did communicate about pvp and we have automated tournaments.

Mesmer’s can double Blink too so it’s not a huge issue.
Keep the same disconnect rule for whomever disconnects but can you cancel the match and have everyone go back to where they queued from?
Seems only fair if someone disconnects within the first 1-2 minutes to trash the match and not have it count as a loss/win.
I couldn’t find it listed/talked about but Symbol of Energy from LB 4 doesn’t grant Vigor right away (like our other symbols do). You have to wait for the pule to tick to get it.

Ping not being related to distance but to the number of hops, your best bet is to try a VPN service to see if that helps.

If someone on your team is disconnected for 2 minutes or more, you will not incur a MMR penalty should you lose. Unless you queued as a duo with the person who disconnected, then you do lose MMR.
How about you do what other games do and not count the whole game and move them back into where they queued from so it’s not a giant waste of time?
It still amazes me that people justify the length of getting T3 ascended armor as OK compared to legendary armor. To each their own.

I’m pretty sure we also had Ele sword skills/art too for HoT but that was changed.
It’s most likely axe but until official confirmation, nothing is certain.
If the time to get other legendary backpacks were equal this wouldn’t be an issue. This really sets a bad precedent for future items in WvW because they’re essentially devaluing the game play by overhauling the item and its requirements.

What’s with the over abundance of tiered level maps? It makes exploring these maps not fun, boring, and pretty frustrating when you are trying to map complete and follow the living story. I’d be fine with the tiered level maps if they weren’t so crazy to get to – follow this daisy chain of updrafts and jumps just to get to a new tier; make a small turn and start over from the beginning.
The maps are nicely done but the fun factor in exploring them and having the same boring style is dwindling pretty hard.
you know over 90% of the maps are flat right? < 10% is not really overabundant. In fact there is a massive over abundance of flat maps.
Referring to the HoTs maps. They’re all tiered level.
Edit: And all of the newly released zones tied to the living story are tiered.

You stumbled upon them like anyone else would (read, that_shaman) so anyone can claim they found them.
Regardless, I read up on [Overwatch]’s Matchmaking and I want GW2 to be on that level of algorithms.
You realize the overall algorithm is nearly identical.
It absolutely is not.
I’m not going to explain as to why because I just need to point out to the #1 (some what major) flaw Class Specific Builds.
The above is one of the major flaws of what Matchmaking does not calculate… Overwatch’s MMR is better because of how less their error corrections needs to be.
OW uses group size and your MMR to determine who you’re matched up against. They don’t use anything else related to your characters to determine your MMR.
It’s also pretty silly to compare a static hero system with a dynamic profession system from two different games.
The boat has long sailed for gw2 pvp to include a class limit in pvp which would’ve solved quite a bit of problems. But them changing the matchmaking rules every season and the dramatic loss of players has them in a corner where their matchmaking seems broken. The only change they need to make is to equalize matchups from grouped players. 2-2-1 vs. 1-1-1-1-1 to 2-1-1-1 vs. 2-1-1-1.
Honestly, though, I’d rather just have automated tournaments at this point.
DH that doesn’t want to invest in crit complains about hitting 2k on ranged attack on heavy golem? Really now? Good joke.
I think us DH are more frustrated with the RNG on its damage. The rng is so big that I can’t hardly distinguish a damage increase on an 10% or 20% dmg modifier; the damage range of numbers are often inconsistent.
Trueshot is good for its crit… If I were to use it knowing it wouldn’t crit, I would just auto.
Btw.. all meta DH builds in high tier pvp are “optimized crit builds.”
No way AA hits as hard as True Shot when it doesn’t crit. Besides, everyone loses lots of damage when you don’t crit, especially with abilities that have an even longer CD (looking at you rifle engi/fresh air ele).
AA definitely hits as hard as TS when TS doesn’t crit.
Unless the meta drastically changes, you’re not going to see many stealth Mesmers. It’s perfect for Thieves/Rangers, though, even with a 240 unit radius.

No. PvP balance is not completely out of whack or even out of whack. It is kinda balance when you compared to other seasons and years.
Recency bias, it is a thing.
You don’t need to compare current pvp to the other seasons or years to conclude that pvp balance is out of whack.
The introduction of elite specs spiraled the balance into a deep dark hole of craziness and forum posts.
PvP balance is completely out of whack. But this is what we have to play with today and will just have to wait until the next expansion to see what broken elite specs are released.
This doesn’t mean much but a leak had Guardian and Mesmer being assigned the axe for the new elite spec.
I don’t expect much to change.
Hey..if they don’t nerf dh, the direction taken by anet will be clear..I just start to complete my 3rd main then, I can do things on marauder dh… ..never accomplished that level of dmg so easily…teleport in ToF+DM..and even top 250 players fall flat on their face.
It’s extremely easy, all you need to know is the CD of enemy skills and their positioning…then BAM>>KABOM….teleport in use 2 traps, knockback..so kittening easy.
I’m so playing a dh if no nerfs coming, I have literally no counters, I can build to kill/stall anything…simply outstanding
