I still think MH focus could make for an amazing kittening class
I’m not sure why people are obsessed with the idea on wanting an offhand as a main hand. It is really irrelevant what weapon they give Mesmer because they don’t necessarily follow conventional mechanics.
When people say main hand focus all they’re talking about is dual wielding their “The Anomaly” skins which they never use that they made with their 150 gold. If that skin never existed nobody would even think of mh focus.
Wow so much salt.
I personally don’t understand arguments against MH focus given that the profession as a whole uses it’s “mind” rather than the weapons to do anything.
They’re classified as an off-hand with no indication of them reclassifying that. So it’s a bit silly to even bring it up as an option.

It’s as if Yoda had a stroke and subsequently lost his wisdom.
This is standard practice for any software development when it comes to new features or functionality.
Ultimately it’s their game, they make the decisions, we abide by them. They’re probably on the fence on whether or not to include a solo/duo queue option so following pretty basic procedure, they poll their end users.
As someone mentioned, the full analytics behind who voted and how many voted is for their eyes only. It doesn’t give the end users anything other than seeing posts about how it wasn’t representing all of the player base. And also, I’m sure people will use that number as a way to determine how many active users GW2 has.
Not such a great idea to broadcast that over a very simple poll about whether or not they should implement single/duo queue.
Maybe next time he can turn off the background music…
His argument is coming off as an elitist. A “brain dead” build doesn’t mean it’s overpowered in anyway. Who cares if it’s easy to play and somewhat forgiving? This game isn’t entirely built around pulling off amazing micro combos.
DH offers nothing for team play that isn’t better from another class. They could nerf some aspects of the class but compensation elsewhere would be needed to move it into somewhat ESL viability.
Unless something drastically changes, don’t expect to see DHs as part of the tournament meta. You’ll have to wait until the next expansion to see what their next elite is.
Make a competitive sub-forum instead where you can include team postings.
I’d like to see it as a melee weapon. Already having three ranged weapons doesn’t offer much of anything else to take when dual-wielding.
What makes you say that though? At least the focus and torch could make reasonable mainhand weapons (shield and warhorn are harder to envision, could you imagine someone running around shield/shield?) if the effort was put into it
Reclassifying those weapons, every single character model would have to be updated, its more work for them for what really? No added benefit for them doing so, so we really won’t see them be updated. My opinion of course.
What I said was that you won’t see strict off hands as main hands. Which consists of focus, shield, torch, and warhorn.
- Enable quick cast
Making a good guess but we won’t see strictly off-hand weapons being opened up as main-hand weapons or water weapons being used on land.
The type of weapon is somewhat irrelevant as we have a melee weapon used as a ranged weapon.
I only read the F5 suggestion and that’s OP as hell. 12 seconds of chill slow and weakness is just insane.
What does a DH bring for group play, control, and damage?
Does another class do it better?

The thing with meta comps in any game is finding out what works optimally. A big caveat to that is a meta comp will not guarantee a win; it just shows that when played correctly with minimal mistakes, you will have a high probability of winning.
GW2 is no different but with any other game, you can win with different comps. Your threshold for mistakes is much lower and requires kitten near perfect play. Time, effort, and energy – is a team willing to expend a lot of those three areas more so than running a meta comp? With money on the line, not entirely.
The vertical/canopy zones are kind of uninteresting in my opinion. I know why they did it – get more for less, but I sure hope they don’t continue this approach almost exclusively for new zones. Other than that, HoT reinvigorated my interest in GW2 because it offered something different and fun and continues to do so.
Coz ppl r bad
This is the most simplistic and accurate statement on why people complain about DHs. But people don’t know or realize they’re bad so when they die, it’s because they don’t understand and think something is when it’s not.
I would consider myself a veteran player and not exactly bad. I do complain about DHs because the build is so stupidly rewarding and easy to play that it carries bad players with 0 map awareness and rotation speed of a snail to divisions where they don’t belong and then i am stuck with 3 potatoes on my team that 1v3 some guy at far and lose everything else on map.
It’s irrelevant if you’re a veteran or not. Or anyone for that matter. The DH Medi-trap build has been around since HoT day one. Nothing substantial has changed other than buffing condition clear and adding a much needed symbol to sword and scepter. And I’m not even counting the nerfs.
But your reason for complaining about DH is absurd. Because it’s rewarding and easy to play… It, like any other class, is rewarding to play against bad players. And what you also said is not a class problem but a player problem. No matter the class, if anyone goes up against 1v3, you’re going to lose.
It’d be nice if power Mesmer would get some looks but with a twist. I’m not sure what that twist would be but I’m kind of bored from condition.
Literally every patch where a class doesn’t get nerfed but gets changes sees an influx of players. People move onto the fotm class and then we start seeing the nerf threads.
It doesn’t matter if there’s one DH or four DHs, people will complain until the next class gets some polish.

I’d rather have a CTF or escort mode.
They need to do away with timers in tournament play.
No one is causing you to lag in pvp when they get near.
Terrible idea. Also consider that Guardians have baseline condition cleanse with Resolve and can gain additional condition cleanse from trait.
This was changed a long time ago. I think with the teleport changes?
Every main weapon has a symbol now and they provide different benefits.
Swiftness
Protection
Regeneration
Might
Fury
Retaliation
Edit: Vigor
I’m not sure what the OP is really trying to say other than he wants them gone/nerfed/<insert something else>.

It’s a very high defensive build that relies heavily on Aegis and Pure of Heart as well as Hunter’s Determination. Whenever you’re cc’d you get Aegis and drop Aegis shields and you can also use Shield of Wrath.
The real question is whether or not bunkerish builds are going to be worthwhile in higher level play.

The weird user experience is putting up the party creator in PvP. It’s not needed and it’s not something we want as end users.
you realise this was a requested feature by many people on these forums right?
No it wasn’t. What was requested by a very small portion of people was forced teaming in order to pvp.

yes i see how nobody ever requested such a feature in these forums….
I guess your definition of “many” is vastly different than what it actually means.

This is the same kid in chat last night complaining about other classes as well.
The delay is there so players who accept the party don’t leave the match early and and get back to the lobby before the party is actually created. Otherwise they’d be able to queue and then get kicked out, and it’s just all sorts of weird user experiences.
However if someone doesn’t intend on joining the party anyways, there is no harm in letting them leave early other than maybe slightly less usage of the feature.

I’m guessing, hoping, that you put on double sigil of generosity as a mistake because they don’t stack.
But even so, Generosity is really bad as you can transfer a low stack condi and you’re out of luck. You’re still better off with Air/Leaching.
New map, Rage of the Capricorn, along with the new Salty Sea Dog title, along with the changes to the classes has made this game a lot more enjoyable; even in unranked pvp.
Just had a team 3 vs 1 a guardian that lasted 3 minutes and put out some crazy damage. They will definitely see some competitive play if they arn’t nerfed.
You really can’t judge anything right now with the amount of bad play going on. Not that ranked is any clear indication of skill but it provides a better baseline to how well a build does thank unranked.
There’s no way Guardian is going to be in the meta above Engineer.
Needs more dawgs, yo.
One small change that will drastically improve Guardian’s would be to make Judge’s Intervention work like Blink.
I’m using an extremely slight variation of Meditrapper
and still messing around with Virtuous Solace
Deflecting Shot is super reliable now as a knockbock. You know exactly when it’s up and it pierces.
If you’re looking specifically for PvE, PS Warrior is the meta so you can’t ever go wrong with that. Not to say Guardian is bad, which I think you’ll still enjoy, but if you’re looking to min/max, PS Warrior.
I don’t see it being a waste but rather keeping our sustain at a higher level
25% health is around 4k health with Mauraders and any class with stability can walk through the Sanctuary bubble and come in the dome and kill you. Or if you have existing conditions with no clears, you’re potentially dead.
Hmm. It may not be as useful as I thought xD. I don’t hit 25% hp enough
It should be at 50% hp like Defy Pain (which activates Endure Pain) does for Warriors.
lol the merciful sanctuary trait is TERRIBLE
compared to removing 5 condis with absolute resolution, its still a no brainer pick
Absolute Resolution is only adding one extra condition cleanse.
Virtuous Solace is still good on paper and can have good application – especially when reviving but one change I’d like to see is have it trigger at 50% health rather than 25%. 25% with Mauraders is around 4k health which is awfully low and still prone to burst/condition ticks.
I could be wrong but I believe absolute resolution ADDS 3 condition removals on top of the 2 baseline.
if it is indeed only 1 additional removal then yea, master of consecrations and merciful sanctuary trait will likely be the new default mediguard traits.
So I was just testing this out and it looks like it clears 2 conditions as soon as you activate the ability and then clears 3 conditions at the end.
AN outdid themselves with this patch. I’m glad Guardian is still balanced, but had a complete overhaul of its skills/traits. Falling in love with the profession all over again
You mean “balanced” right?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Possible-bug-DH-traps-now-unavoidable/first#post6257634Isn’kitten bug?
And lauding a class who gains greatly from said bug (effectively exploiting game mechanics) is not a good thing.
He wasn’t praising any bug just the overall class updates that were in the notes. The issue with Dragon’s Maw appears to be a bug, which if it is, would/will be fixed “soon.”
I can’t get in game to double-check but the tool tip was showing 3 conditions cleared – didn’t test it against a Warrior to see if 5 conditions were removed.

I also like how sword 1 third strike is no longer a projectile.
Overall, very good changes.
The Deflecting Shot change is a good one. Takes the RNG out of it so you know when to get knockbocks when reviving.
Yeah with Absolute Resolution having 2 conditions baseline, picking Virtuous Solace with Master of Concentration seems like a no brainer at first look.
Some interesting changes so far… blurred frenzy now 3, defender blocks 33% damage and tides of time now 2s of quickness.
There is no movement speed increase on signets.
