Revenant Feedbacks [merged]

The class feels so weak compared to others that when a Revenant is on a team, it’s pretty much a 4v5.

Conditions just absolutely eat this class alive. CC’s equally decimate this class as well.

Ventari just seems so out of place with Staff and the healing mechanism of the tablet is kind of odd… having it pass through players to heal is such a tricky thing that you can spend more time micro managing it than actually focusing on the fight.

A lot of thought was put into Revenant but I feel like they did things massive differently just to be different and not what works.

For PvE, I’m sure this class is fine but for WvW/PvP, I see nothing but loot bags coming from Revenants.

Mesmers are in a really good state now and I don’t see any nerfs… but then again, ANet likes to nerf this class more than any other it seems.

With that said, Confounding Suggestions and Power Block are probably the best traits to choose. The guaranteed stun every 5 seconds for 1 second is just too good, followed by 3k halting strike damage from Power Block. Add in Harmonious Mantras and you have ridiculous burst (followed up with Mind Wrack).

I pretty much stopped playing my Mesmer since the update hit because there’s not a lot of challenge with it at the moment. Power/CI builds pretty much play themselves and bad players are now being shown in the light as being good. This is why people are hating on this class because before, you had to really push to be good at Mesmer and bad players were easily killed.

Now there are Mesmers who were bad and running the right build are killing people at a higher rate than before.

The only things I’d change with Mesmer would be:
1) Blinding Dissipation being fixed so that you can actually evade it
2) Confounding Suggestions – increase the charge timer to 10 seconds
3) Power Block/Halting Strike – decrease damage slightly(5/10%)

Overall, I’ll say we got the best trait change out of any other class and I don’t see this being changed anytime soon… which is a good thing.

If you create a character in the beta slot on character creation, you will not retain any of the items, gold, karma, etc. you gain while playing that beta character.

Veil doesn’t stack Stealth duration. So you’d have to use Veil first to gain initial Stealth to start the Stealth stack.

Right and as I said, so long as a class is a tank and damage dealer, celestial is here to stay. With the changes to traits, there’s a reason why Warrior Shoutbow doesn’t exist anymore. That’s a different story with Eles, though.

Countering mesmers in WvW

Any Mesmer in WvW who takes PU is always going to have the advantage over any class. Stealth classes control fights in WvW. They decide when to disengage, engage and control the tempo of the fight.

Your best bet is if they remain in stealth, just move on and let them be. It becomes pointless to try and fight a ghost.

So long as celestial <anything> is around that is tanky and puts out damage, that’s always going to be part of the meta. Eles benefit greatly here mainly because burning can be stacked by one ele fairly high and it provides a ton of damage per tick.

If they tweak burning (application? damage?) then the meta could shift. But there are other tweaks that need to happen before this changes. It’s an extremely sad state that meta comps does eliminate half professions but this new patch is leaps and bounds better than before.

With all that said, the meta could change. The patch is still relatively new, tournaments are just starting to happen, and teams are trying to find what works for them and counteracts other comps. I’m all for the meta playing out which is why I’d love to see some minor tweaks that are needed now which won’t kitten a class.

I won’t even mention Ranger because ANet just hates them.

I didn’t overlook WvW because we are in the PvP subforum which is exactly what I’m referencing.

I’m not entirely sure not being able to evade blind on shatter is a bug but I’ll let that play out with ANet.

As I said, Mesmer builds pretty much play themselves but that doesn’t mean it’s your old shoutbow cele Warrior. You have to time your interrupts, you have to time your blurred frenzys, you have to setup your clones/blink/mind wracks. You cannot just sit there, blow all of your cooldowns and expect to live. That’s the high risk, high reward piece.

No one takes (or shouldn’t take) PU in PvP. CI and BD are so much better and works vastly better.

But your standard power shatter is Dom/Dueling/Illusions. Which doesn’t even get PU and doesn’t rely on stealth other than The Prestige (torch 4).

With that said, your standard lockdown is Dom/Dueling/Chaos and that takes CI instead of PU.

Anyways, the vast majority of people complaining about Mesmer have a complete lack of understanding of the class. Mesmer was a fairly hard class to be good at but now they made it so the build almost plays the character for you. Which isn’t a bad thing (other than cele shoutbow warrior!) but one differentiation is that Mesmers die so quick if they don’t use their cooldowns properly.

High risk, high reward. That’s the new meta and it’s not leaving.

EDIT: People are too hung up on PU when they clearly overlook that Shatter causes Blind up to 5 targets in a decent radius (240 units). With IP being baseline, that’s 4 Blind’s they can pull off if need be in rapid succession and still do their burst damage.

Mesmer is not getting buffed more… not sure why or how you came to that strange conclusion.

Anyways, I was surprised to see Tarcis run with Longbow and not stick with Hammer. In a new game of max damage and control, Hammer is far superior.

We’re going to see more Mesmers as part of teams/comps because now the build is basically playing for them. Mantra of Distraction and Time Warp is pretty much going to RIP teams with focus fire.

Apex should have dropped the Guardian and brought in another Ele.

Your standard comp is starting to look like Ele, Ele, Mesmer, Thief, x. Possibly Necro because they’re super tanky right now but that should be the basic comp.

The only thing you’d really change would be the sigils. But even then, they’re really good for the setup and due to the vigor nerf, having one energy is pretty much required. But that’s up in the air.

This is the best update they’ve done in this game in a long time.

The old cheese meta of Celestial everything was gutted and now we have legitimate berseker builds that deal massive damage and don’t get the sustained survivability (minus eles). Playing berserker is now a high risk high reward style.

Rampage is extremely balanced and now worth taking for Warriors. It has so many counters that people fail to realize and just sit there and soak up the hits.

As stated in another thread, this is just a pure learn to play issue from the negative posts here and people need to learn to adapt. People want their broken celestial damaging/bunker build(s) back but that was the worst thing to have ever happened to the game that literally took no skill.

Now what we have here is a well balanced game that offers more different play styles than ever before… which are all viable.

Burst is fine.

Burst from stealth with no counter play is not.

I love the new damage, feel free to increase Mesmer’s sustain damage, but the stealth burst should be nerfed.

Mesmers are the squishiest light class. Their damage from being overt and from stealth is perfectly fine and acceptable. The damage overall with them has increased but their setup of stealth, mirror blade, mind wrack has not.

Shatter Blind is hardly an issue as the clones move at zombie speed. Even with IP being baseline, a Mesmer on top of someone for extended period of time should be foreshadowing of the Mesmer dying.

Reflection from Manipulation/dodged attack is fine with the change to vigor. Stun lock is the same as it was before but now Mantras recharge when charged.

I’d rather see Mantras gain charges out of combat and have to wait to charge their Mantras again after expending their charges. But that’s about it.

I still think that the change to Berzerker Amulet (removal of Vitality) has gone unnoticed by the majority of PvP players, who mostly just copy what they see on Metabuild and don’t read patch notes. So they’re noticeably more squishy than they used to be, they just don’t know it.

Burst classes are the ones most likely to end up on the receiving end of player hate in a situation like this, and most PvP Mesmers are playing power shatter. So it was basically inevitable that the hate on us would get amplified.

Pretty much this. People go to metabattle and see what the meta build is for their class thinking they can faceroll others. It’s easier for them to complain on the forums than actually learning the class, the build, and how the game changed.

Rampage is now finally an elite skill that can be used and it also has quite a few counters.

This is by far the best update they’ve done to the game. No more celestial tanky damaging builds where they cannot die. We’ve moved toward a high risk high reward setup.

People need to let the changes settle in, learn the new meta, and adapt. It’s amazing how complacent people get with the broken garbage we had previously with celestial.

Rampage has counters and it’s an elite; it’s supposed to be a temporary game changer like Necros, and Mesmers elites.

This is one of the most balanced patches we’ve had in quite some time. The only thing I’d change is the amount of burning stacks a single class can put on in a short time but other than that, this patch is amazing.

My initial thought about this update was that power damage was really high and too fast paced.

But after playing this for a week, I’ve realized that this patch has made a lot of classes really balanced.

There are some glaring issues with burning doing too much damage/easily stacked with one class. They are in the process of fixing bugs that made damage high through Grenadier and Symbolic Avenger so it’s a path in the right direction.

Overall, if you want to be a tank, you can now tank. If you want to be berserker, you can do so. If you want to be hybrid, you can. With that said, berserker specs are no longer being tanky high damaging builds.

There’s more of a risk vs reward with how you play your character now which is what this game has lacked for a long time.

If ANet fixes burning, fix bugs, this patch is the best I’ve seen in ages when it comes to balance.

I’d like to see more medieval style skins and in particular, a flail.

We have something similar with the Gallant Focus Skin (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallant_Focus_Skin) but having more options is always best. I’m not a fan of any of the focus skins as they don’t necessarily suit my Guardians style. But having a flail most certainly would.

GS Sword/Shield is a decent 1v1 but really, at this point, you’re better off just going with max health, max power, and popping all three stances, and then popping into Rampage and just melt people.

All that was near instant. Then came a 10k Heart Seeker at the end just to add insult to injury.

Tell me how you dodge instant steal possibly out of stealth and backstab completly out of stealth? The only skill he could have dodge was CnD. Of course you can always do a lucky random dodge…

When a thief goes into stealth, you should almost always know that they will follow up with a back stab/steal/cnd, etc. Positioning yourself or baiting that out into a dodge/blurred frenzy is what most people should be doing.

Against thieves, it’s a proactive game play approach, not so much reactive.

I swear you people expect one of the most damaging abilities in the game to do everything.

100 blades is situational and you’ll need proper setup for it (immob/daze/stun) instead of just popping it whenever it’s off cooldown and an enemy is close by.

I just want to know why the Guardian ability: “Feel My Wrath!”: Grant fury for 10 seconds and quickness for 5 seconds to nearby allies. Cooldown: 30 seconds.

… hasn’t been nerfed yet? There seems to be a bug where shouts exceed the 5 player cap and when you have 6 Guardians in a WvW group, you get stacking/perm quickness. And try running into a group of Guardians who have perm swiftness spamming staff 1.

But reading the fixes and what Josh wrote, it’s pretty clear that they’re focusing solely on s/tPvP because of the absurd nerf to Chaotic Dampening and the monster nerf to PB. Grant it, PB needed it but the number change was just outrageous.

Josh and his team say no knee-jerk reactions because the patch has been out for a short period but they do the complete opposite when it comes to Mesmers.

I think we all have the right to vent our frustrations because we are one class that stands out where we get buffed through patches and then subsequently afterwards, get nerfed.

Stop treating this class and its players with such disrespect and carelessness.

Ascended gear has been out long enough to be tradable and/or be sold for badges.

It has been out long enough for you to craft a full set as well.

Ascended is a mere 5% increase in stat allocation and the amount it takes to craft far exceeds any type of badge trade-in.

Moa signet and new TW mechanic are both insanely good.

For hot joins, I’d say TW might be more beneficial as rando’s barely focus target when called. But Moa signet just got insanely better and I’ll most likely run that still.

The problem with chaotic transference for staff is that it is on the same tier as chaotic dampening…

We’re talking strictly PvE here so having Chaotic Dampening for PvE isn’t worth while and a DPS loss.
