I absolutely enjoy the base Guardian and was hoping the new elite would offer something different and useful.

After the first BWE, I was extremely let down and haven’t picked up my Guardian since. It’s a shame really. I’ll be making a Revenant to have and see if I like it or not.

Blink, Portal, X is going to be the default setup for any power shatter build.

Precog changes add a nice defensive mechanism to it but Calamity is still a good choice for damage, especially the last damage tick.

A little too early to tell how they’ll play out but I’m looking more towards stacking as much damage as possible if I’m power shatter.

My small change list:

1) Make shield 4 a channeled ability. Upon activation, spawn phantasm.
2) IR change to an ICD rather than two clones
3) Gravity Well does too little damage and too little overall for an elite that’s on a 90 second cool down.
4) Signet of Ether should have a 0 illusion passive heal added and changed from 3 seconds to 1 second ticks.

Making sure I have at least 2 illusions out before I use Continuum Split, you can get a ton of CC and PB triggers in the first build.

Second build is all about CCing and using Mind Wrack to kill and with Alacrity, more Mind Wracks! And on weapon swaps, my weapon abilities are back up to be used again.

There were a few instances where I was getting 600k+ total damage done which is 100% increase from the current dom/dueling/illusion(chaos) trait setup that I’m getting.

Playing with shield is nice for Tides of Time and utilizing sword Blurred Frenzy adds a bit more defense. Add in iLeap to hold inside the wells, you can get some good damage if they crit.

Staff works just as good and without Decoy, Phase Retreat is a nice blink when CCd. But it’s all about group control and damage and you can blow people up fairly quickly with any spec.

If some positive changes come out of shield 4 (channeled block please!), I’ll be happier.

[BW2] Chronomancer Feedback Thread

I’ve only played PvP so my thoughts reflect that game mode.

Wells
Wells are pretty much subpar with maybe the exception to Well of Calamity.

Well of Calamity:
It’s turning out to be such a good utility (in place of Decoy) that the final damage critting for over 4k and being able to lock people in place is providing good damage.

Gravity Well:
I’m still on the fence with Gravity Well – the pulls are fine but the damage needs to be higher per pulse and when it expires.
The Dark Field is nice but give us access to another blast finisher at least.

Weapons
Shield:
Echo of Memory should spawn the iAvenger as soon as we activate the skill. Change it to a channeled ability that blocks attacks for the duration and not just one attack.

Traits
Illusionary Reversion:
This needs to be changed back to one clone and have a 2-3 second ICD on it. As of now, Improved Alacrity is proving to be much better.

Chronophantasma:
Lose the daze on the resummon. As of now, it’s not worthless to take because they’re 1-2 auto attacks of being destroyed while dazed. Have them resummon with no daze but still follow the attack cadence of the previous phantasm (probably not possible but the daze definitely needs to go). Seize the Moment is just leaps and bounds better due to the daze.

How exactly will SoE get you out of a bind with the passive?

What time frame are we talking about here? 10 seconds? 30 seconds? 5 seconds?

If nothing else, the three second interval should be dropped to one second and the passive healing adjusted accordingly.

That’s the most ridiculous thing ever. Thieves, Mesmers, any class has a spot in raids. Unless you’re doing speed clears, your class is irrelevant in current dungeons and most likely in raids but we’ll find out more when they’re ready.

Personally I feel our healing signet is one of the best heals in the game. While it does suck for glassy builds, it excels with tanky builds that heavily rely on illusions which my bunker and condi builkd do. The best thing about it is the passive heal can’t be interrupted. I have won almost all my duels and a few 1v2s because of this.

It’s actually a really bad healing utility with 154 hps, not counting active illusions.

Illusions in pvp are not alive long enough to make the hps worthwhile as the interval is every three seconds on the passive heal. With the amount of cleave and how often we shatter or should be shattering, the three second interval is just way too long.

You’re still better off with Ether Feast due to its 20 second cool down and if you manage to get three illusions out, your hps goes from 264 (5500 health) to 356 (7480 health).

Using napkin math, cutting the interval down to one second, adding a passive heal with zero illusions, and adjusting the heal/illusion passive, it’s not Warriors Healing Signet 2.0.

Base heal would be dropped slightly and I’d decrease its 35 second cool down to 30 seconds – with Blurred Inscriptions that’s down to 24 second recharge.

The only argument I can see against this is that Mesmers have the best hps healing abilities in the game currently. But being the selfish person I am when it comes to the Mesmer class, there’s room for improvement and updating Signet of Ether is a no brainer for me.

Times change and along with that, so does the game. It’s not necessarily dumbing down the ability but rather opening up other alternatives to different game modes. Now there’s no doubt that they’ve designed certain abilities to excel in different game modes and maybe SoE doesn’t belong in PvP but it’s at least worth having a discussion on.

We’re expected to shatter our illusions more often so that is a little contradicting the healing utility. But that seems to be there inherent risk vs reward. Then again, it does have a fairly high base heal amount and the healing every three seconds for total HPS is nothing to scoff at but it’s every three seconds where every second does count.

With the passive of 980 with 3 illusions every three seconds, that’s 326 per second heal. In pvp, you’re not having 3 illusions out to make the HPS worthwhile.

Consider this: Changing the interval to every one second and adjusting the heal per illusion is:
3 illusions – 326
2 illusions – 220
0,1 illusion – 114

I’m really confused as to why the OP is this mad about raids. This is another alternative for a game type to be played by others.

This is no different from them creating a new WvW map, doing PvP leagues, and adding new zones to the game.

From what they said, they’re going to be pushing out new zones in raids fairly frequent along with living story updates. So it’s probably relatively easy for them to do so if they built a modular raiding system.

Josh Davis did say that solo queue wasn’t the direction that they wanted to go with PvP but this was a little while back.

Hopefully they’ll realize that they need to listen more to the pvp community when it comes to the core fundamentals of pvp before they go ahead and make changes.

Solo queue is really a must for league play.

pls explain why was it OP in the way which combos you could do better , harder, faster
and try to compare them to now

i testing it with 3 friends who play Mesmer from the beginning. at start we said OP but suddenly after comparing the combos with GS, staff, scepter etc we saw and up side and big down side (high risk high reward)

i would love to hear what we have missed.

I’ll try and keep this short and to the point – time constraints on my side.

A general thought process from others seems to be that they want IR to replace DE. But looking at the IR trait, it’s to supplement DE and active clone generation through the use of shatters (pretty simple point and purpose). With IR in its previous version, you’ve essentially had two clones out at any time after the initial clone is generated.

Not only does that improve your shatters, but also your healing and overall confusion from players. That’s not a bad thing, though. From my understanding, that is what this trait is meant to do. The part that becomes seriously overpowered is the use of Alacrity and then you can just roll your shatters and hit with 2 illusions per shatter without actively generating an illusion.

That is huge because now you’re Mind Wrack, Diversion, and Distortion have no illusion down time where you then need to build them up (albeit, rather quickly to produce). It was extremely easy to pump out 3+1 clones in rapid succession and with Alacrity buff on you, your shatters are exponentially improved just by pressing F1-4.

Ultimately I’d rather they place a very small ICD on it rather than the two clone limit.

Honestly, if Mirror Blade on Mesmer hits 3 times, adds vulnerability, and is Unblockable, I don’t see why True Shot shouldn’t be unblockable. And this is coming from someone who mainly plays Mesmer (with Guardian on the side).

As someone who plays a Guardian and a Mesmer, I feel like Deflecting Shot could use a better mechanic, akin to that of Tides of Time.

Add in an extra effect with it (i.e., if a shot is deflected, the target gets Slowed for 3s) – make it worthwhile to use. As it stands now, it’s not even worth using because projectile speeds in this game are extremely fast and when someone is on top of you – Mesmer Mirror Blade – you’re not going to deflect anything.

The concept of adding a range defensive option is a good start but the skill mechanic needs a drastic change.
