ANet staff is a complete joke.
Time to use it with GS for a month until fixed.
Ah, good call. I’ve rarely used it and didn’t recall seeing the 5 second icd.
Anyone else notice that Power Lock now has a 5 second ICD?
Hi all,
Just to reiterate what was written in Mike’s blog post today -https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-new-way-to-protect-your-account/
We won’t spam you; we’ll use your phone number solely for the purpose of keeping your account secure.
You do have a choice of using SMS or the Authenticator and it is optional, but we encourage you to make your accounts more secure and to say thanks you get a free mini mystical dragon.
Win/win!!
Except I can’t use my Google Voice number so lose.
I have my doubts that the Mantra “bug” was actually a bug. I’m more keen on the idea that they put the recharge on charge in to live play test it and see how it worked.
Honestly, I don’t think we’re out of the woods yet with the nerfs. If history tells us anything, we’re due for more.
I’m fine with the fixes and updates. Mantras recharging was a bit of a surprise to me but now you just can’t charge spam charge spam. So I guess that’s warranted.
Mirror blade down to 3 seems fine on paper but the obvious dps loss there.
I’m glad you people don’t design games because I’d never play them.
Most of what I’ve read here is personal vigilante justice against the mesmer class. Primarily due them getting much needed buffs and now that you people can’t kill them 90% of the time, you ask to revert them pre-patch status.
This literally comes down to L2P because you don’t want to change the way you PvP a mesmer as you just enjoy running in spamming abilities.
The three things that we as mesmers are asking to change are:
1) CS
2) BD
3) PU
The uninformed and uneducated are asking for crazy nerfs/changes because you can’t wrap your head around the updates and how the game changed since 6/23.
Beastly Warden and it’s a 2 second taunt.
Some people want Revenant to be different just to be different. They call it lazy, boring, or whatever other name they want to come up with but the fact is that weapon swapping not tied to a legend provides overall freedom.
Man, what is with this carebear society that I live in nowadays? Back in my day that stuff was expected, warranted, and you move on and show them up next time.
This is the most ridiculous post about “fixing” mesmers I’ve ever seen.
I find it comical that non-mesmers try to fix other classes.
This has nothing to do with hypocrisy so I’m not sure why you would even mention that.
I can’t speak for everyone on this topic but the point of our responses to his video is warranted.
The simplistic breakdown is that he created a video of him being in TS in WvW against his enemies and he thought it was funny that they were saying and doing ridiculous things about his [bad] gameplay.
If we really made videos of horrible players and we thought it was funny, then this Mesmer forum would be flooded with garbage.
If you post something on a forum, expect to get all kinds of responses from positive to negative.
This video would have been better suited for a guild message board, not the mesmer forum.
There wasn’t anything overly funny about this as the players you went up against were clearly just horrible.
What you find funny about sitting in TS and listening to their conversation is akin to farting in the bathtub humor. You kept saying that you’re bad just to lessen the impact of people calling you bad on the forums. Self-deprecating without the humor makes me believe that you have no one else to share this video with and wanted to gain ‘something’ from the mesmer community.
Just wait until there’s another beta weekend which probably isn’t far off.
Necro Reaper is the coolest in my opinion.
Watching the same two teams fight it out is stale, boring, and does nothing for me (and I’m assuming a majority of GW2 players as well).
GW2 will never achieve mainstream eSports popularity with its current model.
But to the OP, I hope you’re right.
I’m looking forward to running an interrupt build against some tempests.
Power block + Magic Bullet > Overload
With them getting Defiance bar while in Earth, that may prove difficult. But we’ll see more on how it works this week.
The ignorance of ‘Random’ is purely mind boggling. I’m assuming he’s abusing this clearly defined bug that is meant to be for Golems only.
Shield looks like the go-to for WvW but depending on how it really plays out, it could do quite well in the PvP setting.
I’m just more satisfied that Mesmer Shield will have a block and Guardians won’t/don’t.
You can camp one weapon set and just switch legends to force the procs of the weapon sigils.
What’s not to like?
Mike O’Brien is the executive produce of GW2 and president of ArenaNet.
What he said in the videos about “you’re the exception” and that people do other things outside of WvW just shows he doesn’t under his player base nor his game.
He’s a dollars guy in that he wants to see profits for GW2 and he uses PvE players as the driving force behind this game. Who’s more inclined to spend money on the gem store – pve players or wvw?
He looks at WvW as a theme park more or less in that players will jump in for a few and then go back to the world of Tyria.
With the massive stagnated WvW scene for the past three years, it’s a clear indication that there’s no room for a serious overhaul for WvW to be what RvR was/is. They released EoTM which is a good map but horrible executed. In fact, WvW in general is pretty badly executed as one poster pointed out (Menka? I forget his name).
When a GvG gets 1,000+ viewers that isn’t promoted by ArenaNet, then that’s a huge accomplishment and pretty telling about your WvW population.
Mike O’Brien’s hunch and protruding head from his shoulders and his ignorance towards what people do in GW2 is just insulting. He has no idea what this player base does nor wants and makes baseless claims on video reaffirming this.
I understand they want a casual game where someone can pick it up and play and jump right in but don’t mock or insult your players. Business 101.
If they hired a decent RvR designer and actually spent dev time implementing the proposed changes that you can find here and on Reddit, this game will be much better off for every player, regardless of what game mode they prefer.
Let’s start with more pressing issues like BD and CS.
The damage output is fine but you can’t negate it if you’re stunned every 3 3/4 seconds.
But for some reason I don’t think they’re going to mess around too much with the traits so we’ll see what happens.
how do you stun EVERY 3 3/4 sec as a Mesmer?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mantra_of_Distraction
*Stun every 5 seconds.
*EDIT: Sorry, that’s Daze increase (not home can’t check accurately).
Mike O’Brien has really bad posture. Slouching, hunched shoulders, arms crossed – all signs point that he doesn’t care to even be there and what he’s talking about.

“I’m coming to kill you, effing engie.”
And you play a Mesmer (if I recall, a condition Mesmer)… I don’t even know what to say right now.
Probably the same weird obsession of people calling Thieves, “Teefs”.
Yawn, another flame bait troll thread. Reported and hopefully locked.
That’s a sword, though.
How I would do it would make wealon swap part of legend activation. So you are in Jalis stance and equip Hammer and when you swap to Shiro, you equip your swords. So the swap is tied to legend swap but gives you the flexibility to use whatever weapon for any desired legend.
Talk about a sky is falling post… No deductive reasoning either.
Roy confirmed that underwater abilities are coming to Revenant soon™.
Revenant elite is most likely getting shield.
Shirley you jest that it was removed from WvW…
Jade Wind confirmed from today’s news post.
I’m more excited about being able to use my Flameseeker Prophecies and spam Tides of Time every 30 seconds.
Also, being able to have 25% movement speed!
Power Block and PU are fine.
Confounding Suggestions needs an increase in its ICD.
The other ability that people are forgetting is Blinding Dissipation. Being able to chain Blind 4 times in a row and an enemy not being able to evade is overly powerful. It needs to be changed to have a 5 second ICD overall (not per target) and you need to be able to dodge evade it.
Everything else with the class is fine and in tune with the rest of the balance/game.
People hate what they don’t understand.
Scrap energy on the weapons and use cooldowns and keep energy associated with utilities.
It’d be nice if the legends had a passive or on active effect while being attuned.
Hammer skills are too high in their cast times and damage is way too low.
Chaos is extremely helpful and always trying to find that a different angle with the Mesmer class. It’s needed to shed light on Mesmers in a different way and break up the monotony of standard power Mesmer.
Personally, I probably learned more from Oscicat by watching his videos and reading his posts. But that was when I was fairly new to Mesmer and now I just listen to the rantings and ramblings of Helseth.
I like the idea of Mesmers being able to provide super speed and resistance with Glamour abilities as they’re group oriented.
But one thing I’ve noticed with Temporal Enchanter is that when you use a Glamour ability, it triggers TE in a short radius around it. It looks to have a 240 unit range from what I can tell. That’s fine and all but not when you need to drop Veil for a group and no one is able to gain the benefits of TE.
Suggested change:
Make TE trigger when you cross over the Glamour ability.
Roy has to defend Revenant as he’s the lead designer around it.
With that said, this class so far as fell so short of expectations and overall execution that you’re going to have to camp Shiro legend for damage. That is, if it’s any good. What we have so far is just pure and utter rubbish, especially from a condition damage where one would assume it’d be decent at. After all, we have a condition legend that is supposed to be decent at it but it’s not.
Grant it, it’s still new and still up for changes but talk about coming up short big time. No disrespect to Roy but Robert Gee most likely would have done a much better job at designing this class. And that’s apparent from the trait redesign and the current sad state of the Revenant class.
My expectations for this class to be viable in hot join, wvw, and pve is very low so hopefully I’m proven wrong.
The biggest issue with Mesmer is the amount of blinds that they can spam and you cannot evade it. Blinding Dissipation needs to have a cooldown (low, 5s) associated with it and be able to miss through evade/dodge.
As I’ve been playing Warrior going from GS/Hammer to Axe/Shield/GS, there just seems to be too many situations where the Warrior gets kited around and ultimately murdered.
Someone posted their GS/Rifle WvW roaming build and I thought, why not try this for PvP? I came up with the above build as every class nowadays seems to be up in your face, sustainable damage/burst damage, and high defense (obviously not, but you get the idea) so I went a different route.
How I’ve been playing it:
Camp almost elusively Rifle – the simple rotation is: start with auto and then Brutal Shot, Aim, Aimed Shot, then Volley.
You can keep your distance, you can still put out quite a bit of damage and with the defensive utilities, you can stay alive for quite a bit.
The main goal is to get them near low health where you can then eventually Frenzy, Signet of Rage then Rifle Butt, Kick and then either Kill Shot or switch to GS and pump out damage.
You give up a lot of group support by not taking Rampage and Hammer but you do get to put out good damage from a far and up close.
Sorry I don’t have video game play as OBS completely slows my computer down which I’m not sure why. But give it a shot if you’re feeling bored or want to try something different or are maybe frustrated.
I’m still thinking we’re getting conjure weapons but with a twist.
I talked about burning guardians and physical Warrior right after the patch landed. At that time, people still complained about how underpowered guardians/warriors are, because they got stuck in the old mindset. They didn’t try burning guardians or rampage. Now everyone complain about burning guard and rampage.
Quit playing the old style Necro/Ranger, and you will see how strong they are. Use your creativity.
People should not complain about Rampage as that’s the only thing going for Warriors. But people complain just because an elite skill is strong in melee and their blinders prevent them from seeing that Rampage is very easily countered.
Unyielding Anguish is perfectly fine the way it is. It was high energy cost, has 4 pulses, and is desperately needed by the Revenant for some sort of control. Even then, it’s somewhat random where it places the target so it’s more used for reviving or pealing.
The hardest thing right now is dealing with the blind spam which is a bit over the top (2.5k hours played on Mesmer myself).
I’ve only been playing GS/Hammer and any decently played Mesmer will win due to blinds and the constant stuns.
Maybe x/Longbow would be good?
Question: If I use transmutation charges on my Revenant, do I get them back after beta weekend is over?
They don’t get used. The beta character slot is just a copy of your account. So when you log back onto your normal characters now, you will not have used those transmutation charges.
