It’s easier to say what I use.
Ether Feast

The only thing the Ranger needs toning down in through my eyes is the pet attack range. I get chased around the whole PvP map with a pet and no ranger close by. Quite frustrating.
This is the most ridiculous post I’ve read in five minutes.
Not sure how to do high res pictures but here it is.
Yes, just swap out your traits.

It’ll be interesting to see how they use the shield for Mesmer. As it stands now, it’s completely useless for Guardians (but less so on Engineers) so I’m holding my reservations that it’ll be anything worthwhile for Mesmers.
For competitive tpvp CI is better suited as the immobilizes wouldn’t/shouldn’t go wasted as it can in spvp.
Regardless, if you play spvp or even tpvp as solo, CI, Shatter are your standard builds. However, as Ross posted, there are alternatives that you can play and not just be a feeder.
I just find it odd that the Guardian in the HoT picture is shown with a shield in his main hand. Give artist’s an inch…
Don’t expect any major changes to the fundamentals of the class.
I can see another ranged option in either a longbow or shortbow. If some of the images mean anything then we could potentially see spear/shield combination.
Time will tell, though. I hope they release class specializations in the coming weeks with previews!
I can finally use my Fractal Shield.
The collection system we have now is to test how it’d work for precursors. They did this with time gating celestial exotic which then we had ascended.
Theory hat off.
Can I just pick Pact Assaulted or do I have to replay Arcana to get to Pact Assaulted?
Oh, I almost forgot!
Guardian Staff 1 needs to be 360 radius and 1200 range.
Ranger, Necro, Mesmer, Engineer, Thief, Warrior, Guardian (depending on build), Elementatlist.
That’s pretty much how I call it out but will switch up targets depending on target’s health and overall game flow.
HotM was pretty dead last night compared to previous nights. My queue was much longer as well.
Which most likely had to do with the fact that the finale of S2 of the living story was released.

No Mesmer ever takes Compounding Celerity (move faster for each active illusion) as it requires you to be in combat.
Anyways, the Scepter 1 and 2 I’d like to see updated. Scepter 1 speed and the completely counter of straffing to dodge it need to be updated. Scepter 2 I still want to see as a symbol.
Sword 2 needs to add a cripple or chill effect.
Sword 3 would be great if we weren’t rooted in place for the full duration and didn’t count as a projectile. At least make us move at the speed of GS Whirling Wrath.
And lastly, making JI a ground targeted skill like the rest of the teleports in this game.
Colossal waste of time, not even remotely funny. Lacks originality.
PvP is normalized on weapons and armor. You can still use, your legendary weapons and ascended armor but won’t gain the benefit of them in PvP.
Unless they make spirit weapons work like Engineer turrets, don’t count on them being viable anytime soon.
It’s the basics of knowing when to dodge, using the terrain to your advantage, knowing when to use Decoy, when to heal, when to Shatter for Distortion, using About Face and Phase Retreat, etc.
Admittingly, I used to use Mantra and/or Null Field but after ditching those and using Portal, I’ve learned to use more of the map rather than relying on utilities.
I just get more out of Portal for repositioning than I’d ever get with mantra or null field.
Again, learn how to use Portal which means knowing where to place the exit and when to use it.
You’re better off disengaging and going back to a point rather than being stomped, losing points, and having to respawn.
Learn to use Portal as it’ll save you more than you’d think against Thieves and Rangers.
This is so boring I’m actually going to the mall with my girlfriend so she can shop for new shoes.
Stop callin thief “teef” would be a start.
Currently have Twilight and I have all of the gifts for The Bifrost, I just need The Legend.
And I also have Fractal pistol, Fractal GS, and the Fractal spear.
I think I might just run dungeons/PvP for tokens and get the staff and then mystic forge those. All while saving gold. That seems like a win win situation to me.
I’ve been selling every and all T1-6 mats I’ve been salvaging about once a week. Such a long uphill battle that I’m tempted to gamble it all away. Lol, maybe I’ll get lucky… maybe.
I feel like that’s the proverbial carrot on a stick approach.
I’ve been working towards the bifrost for quite some time now and started the journey by completing everything but the precursor first.
A year later, I finished the gifts and now I’m after the legend. What’s the preferred method of getting one? I’ve done the mystic forge only to be left empty handed and only a few silver. I saved my gold but it felt like the legend kept going up in price faster than I was making.
So should I save over a year or try my hand at the forge when I can?
I’m curious as to the overall tone of the forums at the point when they implemented the senators.
How much developer communication was going on at the time?
Did players get regular early info about thing being added/changed/removed from the game?
The overall concern is founded on a communication policy Arena has adopted, where SWG may have had an entirely different policy in place, that included informing players of progress in certain areas they felt needed improving. This doesn’t really happen all too often here, which is where player frustration/concern comes in.
Overall tone was really positive when they reimplemented the Senator program. It provided forum goers the knowing that most of the class issues would be sent to development in a readable easy format.
We never had an advanced knowledge of bug fixes or new new features. We had the same access to the test server as everyone else.
Just as long as people knew that someone was taking their considerations in they were happy. But I suspect that people here want more out of this system than what it should be.
It turned into a pretty extensive “job” for me as I always responded to many forum PMs and helped answer questions on my sub forum.
I just can’t stress enough that we were in the same position as everyone else. We had no special power to move anything along or push our own agenda. We were under a microscope on things we’ve done by the SWG official moderators who did a great job.
I don’t know how it’s going to work with GW2 (as gw2 has less moderators) but I feel like it’ll be a positive thing.
I just want to provide some insight on how this program worked for Star Wars Galaxies when they did the same thing.
Senators (as they were called) were voted on by the community and then the SWG team had the final say. They were Senators for a year and had to go through the process again.
No special powers were given to us and we were by no means above any of the forum rules. We were given a forum title and a different color forum tag to denote that we were forum helpers more than anything else.
What I did for my class forum was put together a list of issues and ranked them accordingly, with the help of the forum goers. We had our own Senator forum that we could talk amongst other Senators and official MODERATORS. We had no special access to the de elopers.
The list that we put together would then get looked at by the development team but we didn’t know what was going,to be fixed or enhanced.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a Senator and was by no means a white knight for SWG. Sure there were a few who were but they still had to abide by the rules or they were removed from the program.
This was a good program because it streamlines a process of communication which was much needed.
There’s a lot of strange concerns here that I’ve read which seems to be people, just grasping at anything to put this New program down.
At the end of the day, whoever gets picked will/should be someone who genuinely cares about this game and their respected field. Just don’t get the idea in your head that they can change anything.
Harmonious Mantras and MoP kills me with retaliation in groups when I spam it. I just can’t help myself at times.
For staff clones inheriting Illusionary Elasticity, I think people are less concerned about that because they figure that’s the way it always should have worked and this is more of a bug fix than a genuine buff.
people are not concerned about IE because they are uneducasted in the buff and what exactly it means for condition and power builds.
The only thing these sheep’s see is scepter going from utter garbage to a semi-decent condition weapon. Couple that with PU and people overlook the more serious buff to mesmer condi/power dps.
It’s fine, people are over reacting over a change they haven’t seen in game yet. As long as they don’t go after my Illusionary Elasticity…been waiting for that fix for a while now.
Pretty much what is said here. The buff is fine and warranted as scepter is complete garbage. People overreacting and on the coat tails of a few posters is making this a problem when it isn’t.
As already pointed out the IE buff is a greater buff DPS wise to the scepter buff. It’s really crazy that so many of the usual suspects on this subforum are crying so much over AA torment but completely neglect IE having a larger impact. But go ahead and blindly follow someone because they want to take the focus away from their go to weapon.
I go back and forth between my Guardian and Mesmer often. If the Mesmer staff did more AoE damage (Guardian Staff 1!) then I’d play it non-stop. But I just play my Guardian more so when I need to farm events and Mesmer when I go into dungeons.
Or rather you could have originally come up with a name the first time rather than trying to be funny/edgy. “All the good names are taken.”. Be more original instead of wanting a generic name.
So no I don’t agree that names be cleared after any amount of inactivity except maybe for accounts that have been permanently banned.
I have a feeling they’re going to revamp iWarden and say “due to technical limitations, we’ve reworked iWarden…”
643 gold at the current rate is out of this world excessive for 5000 gems to purchase 25 extractors.
Cheaper to just buy new runes/sigils but it still would be nice to salvage WvW gear, if you just got back the rune/sigil.
Please remove the timegate on charged quartz. Thanks.
If you’re going by what the tooltip says and what the combat log shows, you’re going to have different numbers as not everyone is going to have 2600 armor.
You can predict any direct damage output now by calculating the following:
Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
Use the tooltip as a guide, not as a one-to-one ratio against players/mobs. Because it also doesn’t account for Vulnerability.
When was the last time you bought paper and wondered why a 20 dollar bill is so expesive?
USD is not made out of paper.
I just like to blame Zoidberg for the economy!
I like the looks of the T3 cultural over any other armor and it’s the reason I bought it. Being a female character makes the armor very different from a male. I had a pretty decent look when I was a male mesmer, I had him looking like King Baldwin from Kingdom of Heaven.
T3 cultural. The only decent looking armor I’ve come across.
I’d like to know how you’re calculating damage per second in this game.
Overall I think this a good small step for a profession that has a lot of roles it can fill fairly uniquely. I think this might give us 3 strong mesmer build archetypes.
1) Shatter
2) Phantasm
3) MantraI think right behind those are the interrupt shutdown mesmer and the signet mesmer, so future suggestions towards those are appreciated as well.
Thanks,
Jon
So where exactly are you categorizing condition Mesmers?
“SMC has changed hands four five times in the last 35 minutes – JQ->Mags->JQ->SoS->Mags?JQ”
The night before, in the late morning hours, it was JQ>SOS>JQ>SOS>JQ>SOS>JQ>SOS>JQ. You get the idea. Seems like some collusion BS going on there. Just wish ANET would monitor group chat more agressively and ban people doing stuff like that.
Of course when they were not swapping SM, they were often hitting Mag garrison from 2 sides at the same time.
SM achievement is easy to get compared to trying to get merc camp achievement with hordes of SOS and JQ flooding into them non stop.
Ban people for not playing defense? There’s no way they’re going to punish anyone for how EB is played with seasons.
