I’m taking a break from the game to see what gets added in the near future. I won’t stop playing completely, but the game has become a little stagnant as of late due to things being what they are. No, I’m not one of those people who rushed through the content or anything. I’ve not completed the whole map completion and have barely set foot inside of any dungeons.
I’ll be spending some time with Planetside 2 (crazy cause I’m not a big fps person, but it is addicting.) and I’ll probably play a little Diablo 3 around Christmas and maybe (if I’m lucky) Dark Souls. Anyway, I’ll pop into the game for the Holiday events, but beyond that I’ll need to see how the game develops in the future for it to be able to hold my attention for long.
I believe it should be easy to obtain max stats but harder to get the unique appearance. I think that Orr should be made less annoying, that they should add the Ascended gear to dungeon bosses and zone bosses, and make it craftable. I think they should have unique skins for the fractal dungeon and a merchant selling skins for that dungeon just like any other. Doing these things would fix a few other things as well, like people only wanting to do fractals all the time and it might put people back in Orr for the events and people who want to run the other dungeons more. Those inventory boxes should be on every dungeon merchant.
-A golem named BUY-4373 (4373 is a MS security error about remote attacks)
Has anyone checked what item has the id 4373 in gw2db?
Tactical Pauldrons.
I’m not even sure magic find is worth it. Often, I’ve gotten far better drops not wearing magic find gear and buffs than if I were. I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that if I’m getting better/more drops not wearing it, I just won’t.
1. Fully instanced and customizable player housing.
I know this one has been mentioned to death and there are many people who don’t really care for it, but there are also lots of people who do. This would add so many opportunities to the game that I’ll only list a few.
a. A market in the gem store for furniture items that cannot be obtained by
normal means (think item storage).
b. The ability to display trophies earned through hunting, dungeons, achievements,
mini games.
c. A new crafting profession based on player housing. Also opens new markets on
BLTC.
d. Great for those people who like to roleplay.
2. Guild Halls.
Another one that has been mentioned a million times. I know this is planned along
with housing, but the sooner the better.
3. Fishing.
Can tie into so so many things.
a. Guild hall and Housing decor.
b. Cooking.
c. looting odd things that can be broken down into crafting mats.
d. Mini game fishing contests. Can even be used in dynamic events where
wants you to fish x amount of certain fish for them.
4. Weekly city festivals.
This idea can tie into loads of things as well. Each week rotate to a different city.
A new currency for activities completed during the festival can buy you new
things.
a. Once again, housing/guild hall decor.
b. Unique city themed weapon and armor skins different than the current
cultural stuff.
c. New town cloths.
d. mini pets (as a very rare/expensive item)
5. Capture the flag.
Keg brawl is like this, but I think a return to some of the basic pvp modes like
capture the flag in the pvp rotation would add a little variety into the mix.
6. A new set of wvw maps.
After playing wvw for awhile, the current maps can get old. Why not add a new set
of maps to a map rotation? With it new jumping puzzles, vistas, poi’s etc.
7. A rework of the Necromancer pet system to be more like the Rangers.
I’m sure some people love the way the necro pets are as is, but there are a lot of us
who are not thrilled with them. My idea is to make it more like the rangers. It
would add a whole lot of variety to the necro pet appearances. You would still
have your necro pets as normal, but have the ability to aquire different “skins” for
them. You can basically choose how you want your normal slot skill pets look from
a list not unlike the rangers. I’d rather have a skeleton knight look than the flesh
golem. Others still may want their flesh golem to look like a risen chicken.
8. Option to turn off particle effects.
9. A new type of dungeon that scales from solo player to full group in difficulty.
Rewards also scale.
10. Very rare mobs in the world that have a chance to drop cool weapon and armor
skins. It would add just one more reason for higher level folks to revisit lower level
areas.
11. Please get all of the mini games going. I’d love to do target shooting.
12. Quality in game voice chat system. There are too many guilds around using tons
of different voice programs. I think one centralized system would be nice to have.
Would benefit pug groups greatly.
I know some of this stuff, if not all of it, has been listed before, but I feel that these things would bring a lot to the game in the way of stuff to do.

I would imagine with the state that wvw is in on some servers that would be a cool idea. Problem is, it’s not that way for all servers. My wife leveled from 10 to 80 in wvw in about one week. She played a lot, but not addict style where she was up 30 or 40 hours straight. That was when wvw on our server was really hopping. We don’t really win many wvw matches lately and it has kind of demoralized our server I think to the point that tons of people don’t really care to do it anymore, thus if I were to take a low toon in, I’d probably take forever to level. It has to do with overall server participation I think than anything that would dictate experience gain for an individual as there would be more stuff to do.
LOL, so it was Nexon in the grassy knoll?
I won’t fully quit the game ever, because there is no sub. I will be taking a break when I get my broken down ps3 replaced to play a lot of Dark Souls.
They really need it. Have an NDA in place for it and make it so you can take/create one character specifically for the test server. An extra character slot that doesn’t count against your normal ones.
Orr isn’t looking so bad anymore. I don’t mind it being harder, just not like one shot dead harder.
I’m thinking that map is in half right now until Sunday’s event. I think we’re only seeing half of it. I’m also thinking we’ll be seeing more Sea of Sorrows updates in the future. There are a few more islands out there.
I agree that the leveling should have been slowed down somewhat. I think crafting shouldn’t help you level. Harvesting nodes to get exp isn’t bad, but it should be reduced. More add more dynamic events into zones and reduce their exp somewhat. For people who are level 80 have dynamic events that spawn when a certain amount of lvl 80 players enter a zone to give them more of a reason for being there…I’m talking about the lvl 1-50 zones. make them out of the way of the lower levels and have them have a rare chance at a unique weapon or armor skin and maybe rare chances at things like karma jugs or a zone specific mini pet.
I believe the forum mods are being a tid bit heavy handed on the infraction button. I’ve gotten two infractions today alone one of them I could actually understand except there were people in the same topic posting exactly the same useless thing that I did. Perhaps removing their reply would have made me feel a little less singled out.
The other I do not believe I deserved at all as it was not inflammatory, insensitive or otherwise against any of the written rules of conduct that I personally am aware of. It was a legit thought. I don’t care to be made to feel singled out by the moderators in this game, nor do I care to feel as though my posts are not good enough for anyone to read. I can see infractions given out to verbal abuse, straying far from the topic (as I did in one post that was infracted. I admit to that one, although I wasn’t the only one.)
So here is the deal. I’ll no longer post to these forums, even though the majority of my posts are ones that do nothing more than praise the game. And yes, I’ve sent the email. For the record, I don’t think infractions are a good thing. They tend to make people feel small. I don’t want to feel small so enjoy all your infracting. I’m sure this post will get one as well.
For anyone who is worried about this gear causing a problem with people being able to get into groups, why not just be the nice guys and invite those who don’t have the gear into your groups to help them get the gear? Just because you have the gear doesn’t necessarily make you an elitist jerk, and doesn’t mean the people who have the gear will become elitist jerks. If I go for the gear while having fun in the new content, I’ll have no problem helping those that need the help if that is what they wanna do. Here is a solution, instead of complaining that there is new gear, take some time and help others, that is why I originally liked the idea of this game. People helping people with no fear of exclusion. If everyone posting here today got together with each other, no one would be excluded and everyone could get this gear.
I’ll say it again, more people in the game is a plus. Maybe my server will start looking a little more lively since all of the people abandoned it to be on the “winning side” on other servers or outright quit.
The nicest post I’ve seen all day
Not all PvE players dislike this.
This question only works if the majority of the games population answers this question. For that the majority of the players would have to be on the forums. I’m pretty sure more than half of the people who play never visit the forums.
So who were the people that were for it? Because Linsay states that the decision was made due to feedback of the community. Well, it’s certainly not THIS community, I think that is pretty obvious now.
This is actually something that I’d love to know myself. I really wish they would tell us exactly how they find out this stuff. I’m all for the new content coming in, but this one thing remains a mystery to everyone. To be fair, I think it’s something we should all know the specifics of.
I’ve read that there will be new recipes coming with this patch. The question is are these recipes used in the creation of the new gear or gear with matching stats to that gear? It may clear up some confusion.

I am very excited for this. I think it is a step in the right direction. No matter how pretty the game is or how cool some of the armor looks, there will always be some form of progression in an mmo. It is the nature of the beast. I think they are taking great strides in trying to make this game appeal to a wide range of tastes as to make the game have a better player retention rate. More people playing is a good thing.
I look at it like this.
1. If you like open world pve…you’ve got it.
2. If you like regular dungeon running…you’ve got it.
3. If you like spvp… you’ve got it.
4. If you like wvw…you’ve got it.
5. And now, if your into getting new things for more power, you’ve got that too.
None of it is required, yet all paths are available for every play style.
In the end in almost every mmo, the acquisition of new stuff is the driving force behind it all. If some people need a carrot on a stick to keep them going, so be it. Eventually, (I’m crossing my fingers here) They may introduce raids!!! GASP!!! Oh the horror! People just need to relax and see where this new stuff takes us. I seriously doubt it’ll be as bad as people think. Besides, even if it did become a wow clone in the future, I’d rather play this than have to pay a monthly sub to do the same thing. People just need to chill out.Youd be okay if your “power” stayed out of absolutely everything though right? I think the ascended stuff should only work in the fractal dungeon period..should have no effect outside of it..pve or wvw content should be void of anything past exotic stats imo. One side of playerbase should not inherently have an advantage just because they play their way…thats an idiotic design.
I’d be very happy if the new gear only worked in that one type of dungeon, as long as that type of dungeon doesn’t end up being the only one of it’s type. That would be as boring as not having the dungeon at all after awhile.
Why did I buy gw2 someone asked? Simple…I like all that it has to offer as it currently sits. I’m excited about the new content as a whole though, as it offers something different than the same old same old….and now I have something new to look forward to when I get to that point. I’ve not done everything there is to do in the game by far and the fact that now there will be even more to do makes me happy. Just because I said that I am happy that people who want more power can get it doesn’t mean that I am one of them. I just wanna play and have fun and the more ways I can do that the happier I am. Just my opinion.

I’m gonna bet that Karma jugs may end up being a crafting component in the mystic forge for some of the new stuff.
If and when they do put it in, they should do it alongside guild halls and player housing. Why? First of all, imagine the decoration options you can do with trophy fish mounted on your walls (LotR did this) but also why stop with that? Why not have fish tanks that you can fill with special fish that award a small “fish tank buff” that gives players a buff from clicking on the tank? Each individual fish (very rare fish) can give a buff to things like magic find, gold from monsters, exp, speed etc etc. It would give even people who wouldn’t normally try fishing a reason to go fish. It would also create an opportunity for the the gem store as people could purchase tank decor alongside those inevitable other housing items that are sure to be there if and when player housing/guild halls happen.
I’d rather them make the changes that they feel are necessary and then post them when the patch goes live as opposed to everyone knowing what they are and then complaining about changes that are made before having a chance to try them out and having to wait even longer while they go back and fix and fix and fix things for people who will never be satisfied thus pushing the fixes back into eternity. I also like the element of surprise that would be lost in knowing too much.
keep in mind that you can preview the dye before you click them into permanence. I only wish you could do that from the TP as well.
Well, since they stated that they are changing some things about the acquisition of the legendary weapons, I’m holding off until I find out what those changes are. I’d hate to get a bunch of stuff that turns out to be useless after they patch the changes in.
Has it been stated anyplace whether or not we’ll be seeing new items in the gem store with the Lost Shore update? If so can anyone link the info here? Kinda wanna know in advance if it will be worth it to me to buy a card. Thanks in advance.
I hate to say it, but maybe this is the one area of the game that needs to be more trinity focused. It can be done in ways that are not dull. EQ2 for the most part had very challenging dungeons that were fun and challenging. What if dungeons were set up in a way that allowed for this type of gameplay and awarded armor specific to dungeons only much like the spvp armor is for that purpose only? It would be one way to satisfy need of a challenge, and make people want to get the cool dungeon gear a little more.
Or another idea since the above could lead to people/classes being left out due to not being the preferred class to take into a dungeon, make all classes able to have a damage ward and some better heals? that might help all around.

How does Karma farming make gold?
Drops seem to be better during dynamic event chains such as plinx.
Whining to the guild leader because someone dragged mobs to you was petty on your part. The response of the guild was equally petty.
Sounds like pettiness all around.
Actually, as a former guild leader and having guild leader experience since eq1 was released, and having many many guild leader friends, there is nothing petty about reporting people belonging to a certain guild to their leader. I myself have had people in my own guilds that were reported to me from other players. I’ve never once (nor any guild leader I’ve ever known personally) been rude or confrontational with anyone having a problem with any of my members ever. I’m sure it’s not unheard of.
That being said, I would want to weed out the bad apples as long as sufficient proof was shown to me that there was in fact an issue. Some might not like the idea of having to babysit or play politics, but for the good of the guilds name and the respect I would want my guild to command within the overall game community, I would have no issue (and have done so in the past) kicking anyone that was found to be harassing other players.
People play the game for enjoyment and to get away from their crappy hum drum lives. If someone were making it a point to make someone else’s playtime suck, I wouldn’t deem the person being messed with petty for complaining about it.
Wow, I wouldn’t do that to anyone even if I hated em. Whats wrong with people? There are better ways to treat people in this or any game. I’d let everyone know who it was just so people know to avoid them and not end up joining that guild unwittingly someday.
I’ve found items my level in starting zones before, but as stated above, it is rare. I’ve been lucky enough to find a rare or two once in a great while.
Might be it’s own separate achievement with a title or something under the exploration achievements, but it’s too soon to say.
100% agree with the OP. Sadly this thread will be deleted soon as others previously have as it won’t be deemed constructive because we’re complaining about Orr.
I really hope that you’re wrong about this. I haven’t been on the forums long, but is stuff like this really happening? Gah … ANet ….
One of the first things I learned from my game design teacher was this: If your players tell you that you did something wrong, you should not try to justify it to them and you should not tell them they’re wrong. No-no-no. If your players aren’t having fun, that means you screwed up. If something was supposed to justify it, that point isn’t getting across. You were wrong. You need to fix it.
I think if they were gonna do that it would be gone already. I also believe they understand the current problem, they are probably working on ways to solve it that we don’t even know about atm. Just gotta have some patience with it I guess. I hate the respawns, the insane amounts of knockdowns etc. as much as everyone else, but I have tons of faith in Anets ability to take everything into account when it comes to player feedback.
I’ve noticed a severe drop in our server population, particularly in mid-high level zones. I know we’re outnumbered in wvw as well and the score totally reflects that. How has your servers population faired? Have gotten an increase or decrease in population over the past month or so?
For some reason, I’ve always enjoyed the mass slaughter of Skritt.
HAHA!!! Yeah, I think Orr may be the one place that I don’t actually mind seeing bots as they nab the aggro while I harvest a node. That is actually pretty sad when you think about it. At the very least roads should be kept clear and aggro radius free for those wishing to get from one point to another without having to take a half hour to get there.
Don’t forget, a large portion of the east coast can’t get online to play right now. That could account for some of the missing people in game. They just have more important things to worry about atm. Also, I always see tons of people lfg spamming in map chat and no one actually creating a group.
A giant decorated x-mas tree decked out in tons of GW style ornaments that you have to navigate from bottom to top (perhaps starting with the presents underneath).
The best housing I’ve ever seen was for EQ2. The reason I personally consider it to be as such and voted it better than SWG was because it was instanced. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the amount of freedom that came with SWG housing as far as decorating, but unless you made macros it could be a little cumbersome to get things just right. Eq2 on the other hand had very simple mechanics for placing objects and it was entirely possible to do things with a lot of the furniture that was not intended originally (using the backs of bookshelves as wall paneling for example).
The whole system for me was very cool and was almost a mini game within the game. I’m all for instanced.
That being said though, we do have a home district in our respective cities, so it would probably be possible to do housing within that personal instance that would accommodate having a yard and stuff.
Are the witches hats the only type of hat that we’ll be able to get out of the chest, or will there be a couple different ones to be on the lookout for? I’d hate to go do something outside of Lions Arch and miss out on one if there are more than just the witches hat.
Have you recycled your chest trash into mad king chests as of yet?
I got both books twice. Once on my 80 and another time on my mid forties character. I have lower alts, but I think two is a decent number. I’m fortunate in that the people on my server are very kind and will help when they see you in trouble. Would I have been upset if my lvl 80 main was the only one to get something? Nope. There is always next year. Anet was very generous about the lvl ranges for events this time around. Most of them scale you to lvl 80 when you do them.
Wow. I couldn’t even imagine spending real money to open BL chest. I’ve never done it and I never will. In game gold, sure, but never real money. I’d use actual cash on the costumes or inventory, bank and character space, but never keys or boosts. Sorry you guys lost out on that stuff, but it smelled like a rat from a mile away.
So far, the kid npc’s are the best I’ve ever seen in any mmo ever. Yes, I would buy that for sure!!
I agree with the OP. When all of the “entitlement” stuff gets out of hand it can seem to the person who that is being said about that they are personally flawed. It is offensive. Remember folks, people behind the keyboard DO have feelings. Also, this whole thing casts a negative light on the game as well. All of this bickering and infighting can get really bad and make the community look very unwelcoming to a person who may be trying to read up on it in advance to buying it. It is easy to disagree with someone using words that are negative, but is equally simple to disagree with someone in a polite manner that is more friendly than not.
I would like this game to be inviting to everyone who wants to play it and be respectful toward one another. Will probably never happen, but here is to wishful thinking. Someone has always gotta kitten on someone else’s Cornflakes I guess.
Same, no music at all. Get the spooky sounds, but no music at all.
You do realize that 1000 gems is like 12 bucks right?
Well, whatever they decide that is fair. I just threw in a number as an example.
