They’ve been saying that this was going to be added since they introduced the fractals. This is not new news. The good thing is it’s craftable, but what we don’t know is whether it’s going to be really really hard to get the mats for it. It’s not a gear treadmill if you don’t actually need it to complete anything in pve. If they increase the fractal level or have new boss mobs that use agony, then it might be necessary. They’ve been saying they want more interesting fights. I wonder if this is somehow part of the plan.
The question is how hard is it going to be to get the ascended weapon materials to craft with? if it’s something not so easy, then exotics are not going to go away anytime soon. You can still play with them at max level.

I really really hope it’s both. I missed out on the first one due to RL health issues and was really upset that I missed it. I would love for a dev to clarify this.
I play mmo’s pretty much all the time. I can afford the time to do so as I’m a stay at home dad and with the kids in school, it’s even easier to get lost in my favorite worlds. That said though, I’m also not the fastest player. I’ve been playing since launch with a three month break in there somewhere and I just today got map completion.
I didn’t do the Queens Gauntlet achievements. I’ve done all of the Queens speech and all of the Jubilee and of course the oddball one with only like six achievements in it. I started the Jubilee achievements the day of the patch and played for about eight hours off and on that day. I completed all of them. If you played just 2-3 hours a day you’d have all of those achievements in just a couple days. Maybe sooner if your really fast. After that, I just went on and leveled an alt until the next patch came out. The current one was a little harder as some of the achievements require you to be in the right place at the right time, but it’s not impossible. It’s finished two days after it started and now I’m just waiting another whole week with nothing but free time until the next installment. It’s not that hard to get those meta achievements. If I get bored I may try to get some of the Gauntlet ones.
Why not make a new version of Orr for lvl 80 only. All three zones. Make them lush green jungles and beaches. Make them have new dynamic events, world bosses, champs and loot. Give it a small city area.
Make it so it is only accessible after completing the Arah personal story step. Let lvl 80 characters have the option of zoning into Orr old or Orr new. Throw in a new permanent dungeon that rewards new stuff/skins. It would totally be doable and wouldn’t screw up people working on there story and it would give people new stuff to do that won’t go away.
As far as the kind of conflicts that could happen in the new Orr…
1. Many different factions are coming back to Orr to resettle the land and claim it’s lost riches. This could also be an opportunity to include some faction game play by making it so you do a story quest for one of these faction. Each faction could have end rewards that are unique from each other.
2. We’d also see a fair amount of Pirates in the waters and Bandits on the roadways. Skritt, ever the opportunists, would set up camps and cause havoc.
There are tons of possibilities with this set up.
Here is what I think would be cool for Orr.
In the story step right before Arah, the place is supposed to have been cleansed at the well. It would be neat if Anet made it so after all of your story is finished, instead of zoning into normal Orr as we know it, we zone into a new version of Orr that is a lush jungle zone that people are trying to rebuild. I think that would be very nifty. It would have little to no risen in it and would have plenty of interesting places to check out.
Some is better than none I guess.
A great big shiny head chopping two handed great axe.
I have found that unless there is something I really really want bad out of an event, I don’t worry about it. I’ll play an alt. I’ll work on whatever…anything as long as it’s not the living story. I find that if I pretend it don’t exist, it doesn’t. At least not for me, and I know that in a couple of days others will be getting back to normalcy and things are aren’t that bad.
If they do they should stream “Instant Karma” in the background for music over vent or something.
I love the idea that they are having another edition out. It entices even more people to buy the game. Especially the ones that try out the free trial. More people=better game as far as I’m concerned.
Compared to some other mmo’s this is totally easy to figure out. If you can’t then you probably should move on anyway. I can safely say that if I didn’t need a tutorial then most people on the planet don’t need a tutorial.
Go. Did the community go down the toilet….
I didn’t bother to read the rest. Sorry, that just stuck out too much for me.
LOL, I’ve been playing since launch and I can count the number of exotics that have dropped for me on one hand. I’m very very unlucky. I get maybe 3 rares a day max with doing the current events, so I don’t get much of a chance to use the mystic toilet. I just figure if it happens it happens, if not, oh well.
1. Raids
2. Player housing
3. crafting skill to accommodate housing (carpenter)
4. World shaking changes to, well, the world.
5. Quest lines for specific rewards.
6. pretty much everything the OP said.
First and foremost, I’d like to see the story take a turn to the serious. Something dire happening that changes a lot of things and makes some very big, intelligent conflict. I understand that this is a “for everyone” mmo, but lets have some stuff happen that makes people really want to go out and do help bring the world back from the brink.
Next…The constant farming content has got to stop. There needs to be some new quest series that involves easy solo able parts and some group parts. It needs to culminate in a raid style mob that after it’s all over people feel like they have accomplished something. Raids…thats something else. This game sorely needs raids. There is enough small group and solo content to last a lifetime in this game. Give us Raids with some really really nice rewards and an increased chance at precursors. Give us some really cool skins for our efforts. Raids would have the effect of making guilds even stronger than they currently are.
Lastly, bring out some more Karma stuff. It’s dropping like candy so lets give it some other uses besides the ones it already has.
When they first started doing these invasions the first thing that came to mind was Rift.
Okay, I need a help.
I’m always trying To have all achievements, all events, all weapons I want (almost all) and I really enjoyed very much the Living stories ArenaNet gave us.
I’m an ex Gw1 hardcore player and with these two last Living stories I noticed that they stress me too much. I try To hurry, always, because we all like To complete Our achievement. Now we have free contents every two week but, If you considerate work, family and real life, you’ll NEED two weeks To complete this, and have no time at all To do all other things, like exploration, level up, dungeons, etc. 45minutes of pure farming, where people prefer To farm Aetherblades Champions and Let the Invasion Fail because they want their loot from them; and If i have Only few hours per evening To play and (for example) log in at 21.15 i lost 45 minutes of playing because eventi already started and I cannot enter it anymore . And the next Invasion maybe is in a map I’ve already made. Of course, in these days people that maybe have already made their achievement Keep farming Invasion instead of be free for events or dungeons. Plus all these drops ruin the economy. Now 100g is nothing for farmers and is still huge amount of money for a normal player. But I felt already bored of this living story, it don’t gave us anything but farming and once in game you will find Only farmers they will stop To play too because there’s none To sell things people don’t already have dropped with their farming. Also, I dont think farmers will buy gems cause they will already have a massive gold To transform in gems. I Just want to know if all living stories will be like this, or we gonna have something everyone can play easily and with more fun, less stress and less “omg new patch I MUST do it!!” (for a tonic, or a mini). I don’t know If it’s Only my feeling, but If we continue this way I must have a break from gw2 or my eyes and mind will hurt even more.Ps. I know someone will hate me but, Meh, It’s life.
As always, sorry for my english.
I was thinking the same thing. as far as pacing. What helped me was just to forget about it for awhile and I rolled an alt. The alt was able to do some of the achievements and I still had fun with just the basic old GW2 stuff.
Mine vanished after this update hit. It’s nowhere to be found including in the collections tab which is where it was when it poofed. Others have said theirs is missing as well.
It still does the above. People like to keep track and earn them a little bit more than they used to. If you think about it, it’s a nice move on Anets part because it gets people out to experience parts of the game they may not have before even if only to earn enough points to get the next chest on their list. Some people wouldn’t even bother with jumping puzzles if it were not for the achievements, some may find that they really enjoy them due to having done one.
I missed out on the first one. I’d love to see this!
They weren’t that hard to get if your the lucky sort. I lucked out and was able to get two of the three I wanted. The GS and the rifle. I think it’s totally fine to have these items on the TP for the unlucky. I would like to see more goal oriented skins in the future though. Something that you have to really work at through some kind of adventure that is not easy to get.
Personally, I’d like to see some static quest givers thrown in here and there or a special reward if you go through a dungeon of the day (specific to paths including story.) It would help fill up dungeons again.
So I’ve been noticing… With each update, we are herded like cattle to the new POI and achievement farm. Whether it be an instance cut off from the rest of the game, or one particular zone or area at a time.
I thought that the intent of making the world “alive” and to make the core game better was simply that. But when you herd us to specific zones or instances for achievement farming, you are detracting from all of that.
Id be willing to bet that most people are running around the designated clockwork zone for the designated invasion. Previously, it was the pavilion.
Places like WvW, Orr, and mid level zones are just empty and silent. Why? Everyone is busy achievement farming where arenanet tells them to go.
I dont think this is promoting a world that is alive nor do I think it is bettering the core of the game. Your heart is in the right place, but I dont think the living story is simply cutting it.
I’m sure they’ve got other things lined up. About the taking away from the world thing though, I’ve really been enjoying going to places I haven’t been for a long time even if it’s in a zerg. Everyone is having fun that are participating in those events. Give it a week and I bet some of the people will go hunt the champs and whatnot in those zones after the living story event is complete in that area. Gives ’em something to do in between zone rotations.
This is totally our fault, we dropped the ball on this plain and simple. We planned to have this messaged ahead of time to be fair to everyone, communication broke down between those who knew it was supposed to be messaged, and those who were supposed to message it and it simply didn’t happen.
As game director this is ultimately my fault first and foremost, and I’m sorry for those who potentially lost some karma as a result. It is our policy to message these kind of changes ahead of time with lots of warning, I’ll do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.
I’d recommend not using your karma consumables yet, give us a day or two to try and see what options we have available to help mitigate the issue.
As you can all see, here is a company that is more looking out for it’s players than not. About the Karma thing though, I wouldn’t be worried about it even if they did change it without warning. Karma is flowing like water in these updates.
My wife’s little Asura mesmer is named
Cut CopyN’paste
Would really like to see some more quested stuff myself. Not themepark like at all, but some standard quests thrown in here and there would be a nice change of pace. Something really cool looking, for example, could be a long quest chain that might take days to finish. Would love something like that to make it into the game once in awhile. Make it character bound also for the rewards so alts have a reason to do it too. I do think the farming thing is a little on the lame side, but when there is nothing else to do, it’s a decent distraction I guess.
Report them. Every time you see one being rude. When this game first got going, they got rid of a ton of people for being rude to others and called them out on it in Reddit when they tried to defend themselves as innocent. Anet don’t like rudeness.
I only wish they had implemented a system similar to EQ or EQ2’s Epic weapon. Less farming and more adventure in getting it. Simply buying components does not feel legendary and neither does spending hours upon hours doing nothing but farming. I’d rather a long drawn out quest similar to the personal story with objectives and goals to complete. Some easy and some very hard, with a light amount of farming or camping involved. The only reason I can see for them making the decision to do it the way they did in this game was to lead people into buying gems to convert over to gold to spend on their mats.
What I think would be cool is if they made the respawn timers on Champs longer. It would force people to do their farming rotations in other zones. Like figure out how long on average it takes to down every open world champ and then adjust respawns accordingly. I think that would actually help.
because that would ruin the economy of guildwars 2 and make buying a legendary almost pointeless.
You do know that they are planning on releasing new skins for legendaries? I’m just saying instead of having only two choices, give a few more I don’t believe it would ruin anything. People will buy what they like.
I know legendary skins have been brought up before, but my thoughts on it are this…Themes. Why not have several different skin choices for the legendaries upon creation to go with a theme. If I want an evil look, I could just go with the evil themed weapon skin choice. If I wanted a rainbow bow, go with the current dreamer skin, or if I wanted to look steampunk, a steampunk legendary. It would add way more personality and choice to those weapons.
I think what would impress me more is if they made getting them more like the way EQ or EQ 2. It was challenging and time consuming and still felt as if you accomplished something great even though there was some camping involved with it, it was still fun in it’s own way. Remove the camping/farming from it and just make it a very long quest with challenging solo and group encounters. Dungeon requirements as well. Places to visit or find, jumping puzzles that have to be completed and parts of the weapons that can only be found in certain areas or off of certain mobs. Collections of some kind to trade an npc for a part of the weapon. Make nothing too easy and make it feel like an accomplishment. Sorry for rambling, but those are just my thoughts…oh yeah, take them off of the TP.
Are they going to be adding more skins from champs? I mean, is this just starting with a plan to expand on it?
Brian Cox (Long Kiss Goodnight, X men 2) for the Asura male
Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) for the Human Male
Because he was a kitten about it, I would have booted him. If he hadn’t been and had been simply inexperienced I’d have attempted to show him the right way to do it. It’s how people learn. Making a mistake on a boss you’ve never fought before and then getting kicked would be more rude than someone being a mouth imo.
That said, be nice to those who don’t understand and have the patience to teach. If they don’t wanna be taught and are arrogant butt snots about it, get rid of em.
Actually it’s more of a: Well, since all my skins are on this, now I need to get 17 more for all my different stats.
Oh hey, why not just do BOTH on items.
Regardless, neither of these will be implemented.
Thats the beauty if it. You wouldn’t have to apply all of the skins to just one weapon if you didn’t want to. If you like to only play one set way, with one type of weapon most of the time, then this would be cool, if you don’t like to do that and don’t feel like having to get more, you wouldn’t have to do it at all. It still falls within the realm of everyone’s play style and isn’t forced on anyone.
I think a great thing to add to the game would be a skin chooser. Instead of letting all of your cool weapons skins sit in the bank, why not apply them all to the item.
An example. Lets say you use a greatsword all of the time as your favorite weapon. You already have what you think is the coolest greatsword skin applied to it, but low and behold, There just so happens to be one that just got released that is even better than the one you have….but you worked so so hard for your current skin, you just don’t want to part with it and going out and farming for another greatsword or buying one off the TP doesn’t really float your boat cause your still stuck with another used up inventory slot. Enter, my idea. Instead of being able to apply just one skin to an item, be able to apply all of that type of items skins onto said weapon. Then, have a drop down menu attached to the weapons and armor that allows you to pick and choose from a list of skins you have linked to that particular item.
Over time, people will start running out of bank space even if they have it maxed, I think this would take off a lot of that pressure.
Wow, and I thought it was news. LOL. I read that on three different gaming sites and all within the last 24 hours. Anyway, I think it’s amazing. hehe.
Just what the title says. I’m looking forward to seeing some apps and maps.
I used to have a main character in one of the bigger raiding guilds in EQ2. My favorite alt along with three or four of my friends and my wife had a small guild on the side. We used it to buy our own personal guild hall. Not a huge one, but decent enough for us. We each had a room we could decorate any way we wanted. One of them was the trophy room where we kept the heads of all the raid mobs in the game that we had come up against at that point. I really wish I still had the screenshots of that room, it was awesome. What was great was, because we ran raids everytime they were off of lockout, we got the secondhand boss trophys for our little guild hall. Our main guild already had em all. Housing is awesome for stuff like that. It gives you your own personal mark on the world.
With Planetside 2 and DCUO coming out for the PS4 it’s probably safe to assume Everquest Next will also be launching on there as well. The console market is going to explode with MMO’s when the new generation gets underway.
I say yes to new races, but only if done in a full on expansion.
Here are a few things that might make GW2 a game that makes you really care about your place in the world. Not in any particular order.
1. Player housing. Other games have done this and it is highly debatable as something that people want or not, but I fall on the side of it being a good thing that gives you a place of your own that you can decorate and put your mark on. Key word…decorate. It should have lots of furniture options. Anet can make some money from the diamond shop this way as well.
2. Standard questing. Dynamic events are great, but throw in some static quests here and there that have nothing to do with your personal story. Reward solid rewards for the quests. If it’s a long quest series, throw in a laurel or something. This can tie into the whole furniture housing thing too. Pet bird in a cage for doing a job for a pirate for example.
3. More armor appearances. Yeah, there are a few good ones out there, but after you have them? Maybe having more Karma vendor armor around the world with some different looks to it might help make people feel even more unique.
4. Mounts. Yes, I said it. Mounts. No one can convince me that no one in Tyria has figured out that is better to ride an animal than it is to walk. I get the whole “stop and smell the roses” argument from the hard working devs on this game, but mounts would be just one more thing that adds to individuality. They can figure out a way to implement this I’m sure.
those are just some of the additions I think would help this game and make people care just a little more about playing it.
If something like Dragonbash is going to be like a GW2 holiday that happens yearly, I’m fine with it. I don’t mind some new content being temporary as long as they mix in something more permanent once in awhile that adds to the game in a meaningful way. I like the fact that they have made things purchasable only in the gem shop as that may help fund the expansion a bit. I’d love to see the desert open up to us eventually.
I recently bought a Steelseries headset and agree 100% that quality headsets do make a massive difference.
Do they not suck?
beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, I guess..
Personally the medium ones make me want to start leveling my engineer again so he can get it..
I agree, it would look pretty neat on an Engineer for sure. Goes with the theme of ’em.
Does anyone think that it’s possible the sky pirates theme may end up tying into the first GW2 raids? The current pirates do seem to be a bit on the tough side compared to other mobs and from what I’ve been hearing the new dungeon is pretty steeped in difficulty as well. I think it would be interesting anyway.
If I decided to move my guild (me, my wife) to another server, would I lose all of my guild bank stuff and other perks? I know that is how it used to be, but I’ve not played in awhile.
