Do you think they’ll roll back the scores? Came across a gate at 50% from an enemy guard at the tower we owned, and saw enemy server taking advantage of bugged npc’s doing work on the gate for them. No, it wasn’t Siegerazer

Do those “Gain one level” scrolls work in combat? >:-)

They did work a while ago, but Anet put an end to that.

Good, really I don’t see it as too much of a problem, so much so that I don’t think I’ve ever seen it happen in small groups or roaming. I may have and just assumed it was a rally and heal, never been knocked back though.

You’d think they could just suspend the function in WvW, but since they can’t fix ranger pets auto attacks without breaking the game, it may be more difficult than we think.

You cannot use leveling scrolls in wvw for this reason- Anet did suspend the use in wvw (on purpose) because of the complaints about players exploiting it.

Hall of Monuments Update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

Hi, I just bought GW EotN to unlock Fiery GS.
I have a bunch of Mini pets but when I go to Hall of Monuments in GW1, I can’t apply them to get points (When I talk to Devotion Statue, there is NOT an option to register the pets.)
Is this feature locked in GW1 as well or am I doing something wrong?

If you have already registered the pet, you cannot register it. if someone else has given you the pet and it says “registered at the hall of monuments” you cannot register it. Otherwise i do not know, sorry >.<

Yep… Watch what you’re buying in GW1. Someone kept trying to sell my friend a mini at a high price, insisting it hadn’t been registered (but you can clearly read it had been in the description).

Why can't you farm materials?

I am a fan of both ways… If I want to craft or obtain something quickly, I have the trading post. If I want to passively make something, like an ascended weapon, I can go out and harvest. It sucks that we can’t reliably farm some things, specifically T6, but I think we have pretty good alternative methods of getting them. It’s only a gold farming fest if that’s how you look at it.

My question is: why is every server in NA either Very High or Full? Why does a transfer to Eredon Terrace cost as much as Blackgate? Why aren’t server transfer costs now tied to WvW rank, since that is the only part of the game affected by server home?

Seeking WvW Forum Specialists

in WvW

rhapsody.3615

I think forum specialist should be somebody with zerg, guild and roaming experience, who played on servers of diferent tiers with more than 1 profession. Maybe have eu and na experience.

good luck finding someone with all of that

i go for variety more than most and i only meet 4/7 of those -.-

I meet all of those and I wasn’t chosen ;o

Considering we’ve had the same complaints for a very long time about wvw, I’m not sure what news could be brought to the people at Anet. I think it would be a lot more exciting to be a forum specialist once HoT is released, and the forum specialist term is 6 months. Good luck next time, to all who applied and congrats to whoever was chosen this round.

Can i play in lower tier wvw?

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

I have been on several servers in various tiers. What I’ve witnessed: higher tiers have more organized zergs, with a mix of good and bad roamers/havoc… That is to be expected with a high population. Roamers in lower tiers are mostly good because they have to be; they’re often alone or in a small group. Lower tiers tend to have more knowledgeable/veteran players, and the regulars all know each other and can work together easily.

When a new player asks what server to choose for wvw, they are usually pointed to the top 6 servers, so it makes sense for higher tiers to have more newbies, aka less skilled players. Players who stick to the lower tiers usually have been around a while and have decided that’s the wvw experience they prefer.

It's time to get rid of EoTM

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

They can leave it TBH.

Its just played by people levelling/karma training – people you dont want in a competitive wvw match anyway.

Problem is unless you are talking about a T1 server then those ppl can play WvW to Ktrain. This will get some of the lower tiers players to fill their otherwise empty maps.

The same number of WvW-teams for 1/10 of people (compared to 1st year) interested is the problem of WvW and that you can only resolve by reducing the number of teams and the manpower requirement of a matches. Trying to force (it will loose more people than it brings people to WvW) people to play something they aren’t interested can’t be the solution.

People will always take the easiest path to their goal. That doesn’t mean it’s correct in keeping that path open.

Get rid of EoTM and dump resources into WvW. All those K Train fans would be ecstatic

They would just go back to Silver Wastes for loot. No idea where they would go for leveling though, sure ain’t WvW.

WvW would actually be one of the recommended places. As I remember it, before Eotm existed, Friday was a karma train day. I was on Crystal Desert back then and I remember some commanders would organize flipping stuff back and forth. With eotm there’s no need to set that up now, but I bet some would if it were gone.

What would you buy from the gem store if you won a million dollars?

If you mean I won a million dollars that I could only spend in GW…

I’d buy every skin and toy that I don’t already have. I’d convert enough gems to gold to buy every single mini and weapon skin. I’d buy thousands of transmutation charges. Then I’d buy each friend a permanent hair syltylist contract or legendary of their choice (or any amount of gifts worth 3000g).

If it were real life money, my gem store spending habits wouldn’t change from what they are currently

Why do you play female characters as a guy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

I’m not a guy, but I want to answer anyway.

I see my characters as an extension of myself, and as much as I have tried to play male human, sylvari and norn, I always end up deleting them. I don’t have this problem with asura or charr; I suppose because I see asura more as children or dolls and charr I just don’t relate to at all, so he is his own character. I currently only have one male, a charr named Mr Meowgi (with accents ofc, someone already had that name), which I have stuck with simply because I like the name. I had a male asura, but deleted him when I realized the cute name I chose could be taken offensively and never got around to remaking him.

I find the female armors to be cuter and easier to mix and match. Males look too stiff when running, and as a straight woman even I find the female form more pleasing to the eye in this game. I also find the male faces difficult to form into my character design idea and male hairstyles are just meh compared to female.

How do I create a zerg with commander?

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

Join a wvw guild, or even a pvx guild that does some wvw (people are more willing to follow a guild tag they recognize). There’s a lot of siege placement and limitations to learn, as well as when to fight or flee. As others have said, “pug” commanders tend to lose people when they lose too many fights or can’t capture objectives. Be active in chat, even if you’re not commanding, so people start to recognize you.

Just for some perspective: how long have you been playing? What rank are you in wvw? How long have you been on your current server?

WvW-focused beta testing announced!!

rhapsody.3615

Badges of honor at what cost? They’re handed to us in achievement chests. It’s not really fair to do it by rank… Newer players might be very involved in wvw but just haven’t been around long enough to reach 1000; likewise, someone who is over 1000 might not be as active as they once were.

I like the idea of making it a drop (or trade your siege commander spoon for beta access).

Not that this matters much, as they probably already have chosen how to choose active players

Why do people hate EOTM?

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

I think most people (including myself) dislike the simple fact that Anet considers it wvw, when in reality it is full of people who want to farm karma/loot. These people, who largely don’t care for their home wvw, are earning wxp and loot at a faster rate than people who are playing wvw on a higher difficulty level. I’m fine with people having a place to go level and farm. I’m a bit disappointed that these people are wearing “____ Invader” nameplates that they earned in eotm. When I see somebody with a higher rank now, I assume they spent their time in eotm rather than feeling some respect for someone who spent all that time fighting for their home server. And no, I don’t think they should remove these rewards at this point, just wanted to note that I feel like they took a little bit of prestige away from wvw players by rewarding wxp in eotm.

[New Players]WvW professions easy to hard

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

you think mesmer is the hardest? that single handedly made this post a joke. just go pu and stealth forever.

It’s hardly forever, even using PU, stealth utilities/weapon skills. I do find my mesmer easiest to play in a zerg, though. You’re tagging along for the most part, and waiting to hear a call for veil/portal/time warp. Hardly ever go down if the group wipes. I like escapes. I find any backline easier to play, as commanders often forget about them and expect you to fend for yourself. I suppose since I learned wvw on ele and mesmer, I have a hard time staying on tag when playing guardian or warrior.

So I would say mesmer is easiest, especially for a newbie to learn wvw on. You have many escapes, can stay ranged, and people are fairly happy as long as you bring your utilities; there’s not as much pressure to stay on tag and do specific things.

My list would be much different from the OP’s.

Omg I have a great idea for a game… Let’s call it Guild Wars!

Alt Abuse in BL

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

Raising the cap for the home BL isn’t fair for the other 2 servers. With this new problem in WvW, I think we should be allowed to report AFKers, and then the GMs can run an IP check to see if multiple accounts are running on rival BLs. If a GM sees the same IP on different servers, both in WvW, then they should kick one of them out.

Just some questions/things to consider…
I live with somebody who also plays GW2. This might create an issue for multi-gaming households. Wouldn’t we have the same IP address?

Can’t you only log into one account at a time per PC?

I can’t imagine it would be very fun for someone to park an alt in a wvw map and have to return every few minutes to not get logged out. I also can’t imagine someone who really loves wvw doing this, as they wouldn’t be able to participate while they’re on another account (unless you can log into multiple accounts, of. Still silly IMO).

Beta key drop rates??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

I think their low drop rate on this beta key might not be as much of a problem if it could be dropped from everywhere. But why limit it to DryTop and SilverWastes? If it dropped from all areas of the game, then it would still be rewarding active players, and you could have a chance at getting it by going about doing what you want to do… seems like a win-win to me.

Making you go to the two grindiest maps in the game and farm the same content over and over for hours, if not days, just seems like a really bad decision on ArenaNet’s part though.

From what we saw of the small portion of the new maps, they are going to follow the theme of dry top and sw. Do events to lead up to a mega event. It’s pretty clear they want players who love this type of gameplay, so that they can give rave reviews after this test and add to the hype. It makes total sense for a company to do it this way.

I’m enjoying the active maps while I finish off my achievements.

Leaning toward Logitech G600 gaming mouse

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

Thought I’d chime in here! I love my G600. I have the first 9 thumb buttons bound for skills 1-9, the bottom left thumb button for weapon swap, and F1-4 are set up for use with the G shift (makes ele attunement swap so effortless). I can’t reliably reach the last two thumb buttons, so I don’t use them at all. My elite is bound on my keyboard because I can’t choose a mouse button that feels right.

The negative: sometimes the G shift binds simply won’t work. This happened with my first G600. It’s a real bummer when your attunements are bound that way and fail to swap! From my research, it appears to just be a defect, and Logitech will happily replace it under warranty (mine was a gift and I was unable to obtain proof of purchase). I just purchased a second one and have not yet had that problem. They’re only about $40 on Amazon now, so definitely look there if you’re interested! ($80 in stores).

Looking For Good WvW Server (Ideally EotM).

in WvW

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

If you are mostly looking for EOTM population, you are going to want a server that is primarily green each week, which means a server that wins frequently. Your wants may conflict with the wants of others in EOTM:

" I want to be actively controlling or fighting for control in close battles in EotM. Meaning, I’m not into bunkering up or just getting ran over by a superior army." (sorry I’m too lazy to go back and quote).

-This isn’t going to happen. Most players go to EOTM to karma train. That means not defending (allowing your side to be taken so you can go back later and flip it back).

From your three choices, I would recommend FA. You can use http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups to keep track of current matches and watch for which servers tend to be green. Some guilds are transferring around atm… FA, BG, TC and JQ should stay stable, but if Maguuma and HoD keep moving up, it could cause things to vary a bit more.

Do the staff of Anet play gw2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rhapsody.3615

rhapsody.3615

Whatever they play, it’s not Ranger.

Ranger is actually one of the most played classes by Anet staff, from what I have personally seen.

Considering the problems that class has always had and still does, I find that hard to believe. If any number of the Devs actually played the class I would think there would have been any effort to fix those problems. I will admit that the class is in a better place than it was at the beginning of the game, but it still has built in problems that have not even been approached in a meaningful way.

I have most recently seen a ranger and I think a mesmer in the pvp lobby. Long ago there was one who used to afk by the old bank area in LA, on a ranger. I’ve only seen them on opposing servers in wvw. Oh, and one at karka queen on a ranger. I don’t like to bug people, so I don’t bother them in whispers/map. Anyway, those are my ghost stories :P

Also, just because someone is in the Anet guild doesn’t mean they are a developer. Lots of people do different work for the company (Gaile Gray, for example)… And although they might have an easier path to pointing out problems, it isnt their job to fix them.

Ya, i think ill stick to WvW and level that way. I love the main campaign.

It’s worth running through zones and at least discovering the waypoints. If you intend to do dungeons and guild missions, you’re going to want some areas unlocked. You can look up the locations on dulfy/gw2 wiki. For dungeons, (since you just have to be on the same map as the dungeon and not at the entrance), you can simply have somebody open it, join, and then walk out of it. And voila, you’ve got a waypoint somewhere in the middle of a map!

There are some amazing hero builds to assist with vanquishing. Ive been using some modified ones and in a week have nearly cleared Nightfall with little effort. I’ll try and find the link and post it here later.

Whilst doing that, you will gain hundreds of platinum. Also make sure you do Zaishen quests. To get the pvp title is a tad long winded using zaishen coins, but the platinum will help. Vanquishing will also max out your sunspear title pretty quick

Make sure you pay attention to the bonus week. Last week was double lightbringer points – amazingly quick to cap when vanquishing. This week is Zaishen bounties double coins.

I would love that link, if you ever come back here! I started GW1 recently, and I’m not sure where to find current info. Been searching the internet for builds and stuff, but I have no idea how to know if it’s outdated. Also any links to ranger builds (PvE) would be awesome! As well as leveling in Nightfall- I’m level 8 and everything seems to be level 10+, which I keep failing at.
