Sounds like you are complaining over nothing. You shouldn’t win an outnumbered fight unless your opponents are really bad.
And the trade-off for power-based builds are really class dependent, with a class like Warrior you can have both armor and attack close to 3k.
Simple change: Last hit on DB blinds for 5s.
No. If rush was removed, warrior would be absolutely useless in WvW groups. They would die like flies. Guardians mobility and half the dps or the survival.
This is completely false. For mobility they could just take Bull’s Rush/Rampage, and the end result would be a class that’s still more mobile than most other classes.
That said, making GS Rush require a target in light of all the other tweaks/nerfs Warrior has gotten might not be a good idea. (Honestly the bigger issue IMO is the broken WvW food that lets a class like Warrior be immune to cripple/chill/etc) Main thing I would like to see is Healing Signet reworked to have a balance between it’s passive and active.

Im not complaining against fighting condition builds here, but I think a good QoL change to pvp conditions damage would be to see a portion your life bar greyed out a little to indicate how much damage conditions (currently on you) can potentially do if not cleansed. (Confusion would need it’s own indicator which would indicate how much life would be taken per action).
With that they could tone down the cleansing a little since players could more clearly see when they should cleanse and when not to, instead of condition clearing being spammed all the time.

What would be awesome is if with rifle thief, the “steal” mechanic is removed, and instead of stealing with f1, you are changed to a first-person mode where the player can pew-pew manually.
I’d be happy with just a smart sort button.
Personally Im glad that (power) Rangers are somewhat of a threat now in WvW and not walking free kills that they once were.
Before the buffs you could put those bird/pirate runes on a rifle Warrior and have a better power-based ranged class w/pet than anything you could do on the class called Ranger lol.
Though personally I would have taken the LB and given it more mobility/kiting options instead of damage-based buffs.
Centaur runes IMO are better than Traveler if you use Withdraw as your heal.
The Might nerf kind of ruined celestial Warrior in WvW but overall IMO Warrior is in a good spot, sort of a “Mario” class that’s not the best at a few things but instead is just good at everything.
Might work in spvp but in WvW traps (inc the buffed needle trap) are still garbage. See that random mob that got aggroed? Annoying sentry? Pet? Yeah there is a decent chance the trap will trigger on that instead of your actual target.
Has anyone tried Rune of Defender on Cele-Rifle Engie? Or do you guys think the damage would take too big of a hit.
With those runes you get a free 133 hps if you keep proccing the #6 (~4k heal when you block), plus every block gives you 2s of regen (no CD), and every healing turret use would get you a free 5s Aegis.
Standard procedure for MMO expansions is to make the stuff in them OP as hell, and nerf them somewhere down the line after the big buying rush.
So yes, I also expect Revenant and those class specializations to be super OP compared to vanilla (at least for the first month or two after HoT comes out).
An idea for interesting small/solo scale gameplay:
When a sentry spot is capped a ghost sentry appears, talk to it and pay some silver and honor tokens to claim the spot.
Over time the claimed sentry gets stronger, eventually being able to kill doylaks instead of tickling them and sending you some loot. At max level the sentry spot serves as a personal waypoint, or perhaps other perks? Mainly just throwing ideas out.
To prevent the situation of being tethered to the sentry spot to defend it, you get an alert when it’s attacked by players, allowing you to teleport to the sentry and become the sentry essentially.
You may be thinking “but what if a bunch of players or a zerg is going after it?”, to make that interesting the sentry should scale a bit more as it gets stronger, and the scaling buffs get transferred to you when you port in(i.e. a max level sentry scales like a champion, and in a zerg situation you port in and you are inside a big golem with similar scaling that only functions in that area)
Would there be demand for something like this? Or is there something I am overlooking to make it not feasible. Or perhaps add your own ideas.

Meh, its only good at one thing: solo roaming in wvw, and even then it is pretty easy to run away from like PU Mesmer.
The set would need a complete overhaul to be evenly useable between wvw/spvp/pve.
And boring is a really subjective thing. You can easily make things less boring by just doing more challenging things, like jumping into a group of enemies outnumbered instead of picking off uplevels or 4-5v1 enemies in a mini-zerg.
Perhaps druids could have possession as their F2 (i.e., you press F2 to literally become your pet)? That would help somewhat with the existing pet problems, although it might be seen as lore-inappropriate.
Or maybe super-direct control of the pet via staff? Like a ground target ability with a super short CD that teleports your pet to area + some other effects (pet gets quickness or some aoe cripple or something).
You DO understand that they are a business that wants to make money… right?
You do understand that gems aren’t put into the exchange pool for nothing? However I do think the most optimum solution is to:
a) Announce early that the x-pac will be available for gems at some point, so that the exchange market has time to even out.
b) Make the x-pac unavailable for gems for a certain time period after launch, something like a few weeks, so that the hardcore enthusiasts of the game will have incentive not to just spend gold.
Another issue I’d like to point out is, if there is huge demand for the x-pac, there is potential for scamming (i.e. someone might spam in mapchat “send me x gems worth of gold, (or gift me x-gems-worth of stuff from the gem store) and Ill get you the x-pac in exchange!”). Hopefully Anet addresses that.

Fairest way would be to make the xpac available for a month or two only via direct purchase, and then introduce it into the gem store.
Dev note: In addition to gaining a little more healing from this skill, guardians will be able to use skills much sooner after casting it.
Re litany of wrathe, this skill will only ever be viable if its instant cast and even then it wont be dont bother buffing something that noone uses by a pathetic amount cause it wont change anything
The problem with Litany of Wrath is that a medi guardian has most control of its damage burst when opening up on someone. And given their usually squishy nature, by the time they need to heal the block on Shelter is way more useful.
I would make it so that for 10sec the guardian gets something like +500 vitality, so the heal can be used as part of the opener which is a lot of what medi guards are about.
Anet will never do anything to the downstate because they make money off the finishers.
They even shoehorned the downstate to PVE mobs, because killing trash mobs twice is so fun :/
Cheese VS Cheese
That’s all WvW is nowadays.
Did they ever add an icd to it? Because you can abuse the heck out of it otherwise to get endless condition removals.
One way to address the coverage problem is to have parallel matchups in 8-12hour time slices IMO. Primetime servers get matched up for primetime, oceanic for oceanic, etc.
Im also not averse to server merges, but there are similar things that can be done without hitting server pride. For example, implementing somekind of a guild-guesting feature and maybe a guild-mercenary feature to hop tiers temporarily or buy services from other guilds.
But I still think that it is conceivable that a servers WvW/general population can tank to such a level that a merge would be required. In which case I think it would be best to simply disband the server and allow everyone free transfers, instead of forcing servers to merge.
Hey everyone,
The golem is doing more damage then we intended and we appreciate that you all brought this to our attention. We are working on a fix to get this handled as soon as possible.
What about the Warrior’s ability to endlessly proc Brawler’s Recovery by clicking on siege in their inventory and putting it back?
For a 30-deep trait, there is no reason this should be changed. I mean, consider that picking up and repeatedly dropping your banner renders you completely rooted and utterly useless. The Warrior is literally doing nothing at that point. If they want to do that to clear condis that are being reapplied instantly, fine by me.
It’s not just banners that produce the problem. You can also just leave your inventory open and click on siege and put it back over and over, I think even rapidly clicking on the birthday gun might work, and who knows what else.
Rangers used to be able to abuse this in the same manner with their fury/swiftness weapon swap traits, and as a result they got ICD on them. Anet should at least be consistent in that regard and put an ICD on the Warrior trait.
(edited by roamzero.9486)
The 30s cooldown on the aegis seems excessive. If it was lowered you’d see more signet build viability.
Ahaha, you creative little bugger. Those might stacks are kittening brilliant! How come I havent tried this. Difficult to use in a practicly way, but not impossible. But yea, this needs to get patched asasp. Glad multiple key-press macros are a ban reason, else youd never see a warrior without 25 stacks.
You could do the might thing since forever, but I never considered it a big deal since in PVE you get high might anyway in a good party, and in WvW if you focus even a little bit on might stacking for yourself, you can easily maintain 15+ stacks without any clunkyness.
But the ability to just sit there and tank all conditions coming your way? Pretty insane IMO and it should be addressed.
I think I remember the durations on their boons to be really short, like 10s, but now they are 15s, giving you very high uptime or might or fury with Concentration Training.
Unfortunately Concentration Training seems to be bugged, as it will not trigger unless the pet is in combat (so you can be in combat yourself but unless the pet takes or gives a hit it wont trigger).
Also Anet has yet to fix the issue F1 abilities sending out the pet to attack when its on passive, making Moa/Jungle Stalker/etc F1s clunky to use if you only use pets for their buffs.
Is there a CD on the stealth on the runes?
Bumping this because apparently the Anet devs don’t read the forums for issues like this.
For those that can get a little creative: enjoy your ability to laugh off necros/pu mesmers/any condi class, plus a bonus of a free 25 might stacks (in wvw).
(edited by roamzero.9486)
That a P/D thief would not lose this fight as they would simply leave that target alone after an ineffective condi pass.
You can say that about any high-mobility/high stealth roaming build. Backstab not doing enough damage on d/p to take someone down? Just shadow step and shadow refuge away. Can’t lock someone down with your hammer warrior? Pop your stances, switch to GS and twirl away. Running P/U and your enemy has Diamondskin? Mass invis and blink away to safety. You get the idea.
I dont think there will be a significant change, there may even be a net buff, to builds that don’t 100% rely on burst skills to work. Skullcrack/eviscerate based builds will be the ones hit the hardest.
Warriors will still be strong roamers IMO. And if that weapon swap trait to remove conditions doesnt get a CD it will outright break the class for people willing to abuse it to its fullest, worse than even Diamondskin probably.
a d/P power doesn’t have 20k health and a ton of toughness.
Lol, it’s pretty easy to make a d/p Thief with 3k armor, 2.5k power, and almost 20k HP (assuming full guard leech buffs/blood lust). D/p is just as faceroll as P/d.
After the patch hits I want to try Lyssa runes in a LB build (30/0/10/30), with Entangle. But if that doesn’t pan out Ill probably switch to Speed runes.
I think chill might be overcosted across the board. I mean, look at Ice Drake Venom.
Chill suffers the same issue in general as confusion does for Mesmers specifically. It’s not as strong as the effects would have you believe.
Chill is powerful, it’s just not often applied in the amount necessary to benefit from it in a tremendous way.. It’s a superior snare to cripple and increasing recharge timers is huge but neither matter much when it’s for a couple seconds and the application has a massive cooldown attached to it.
You can’t even get a couple seconds applied usually, since Anet has given out condi removal like candy and made -98% duration reduction possible. Chill is flat out pointless unless you can pump its duration 100%, usually with huge sacrifice unless you are a full condi spec.
Traveler runes are great for those that must play with a 25% speed boost. Drop the signet for Blinding Powder, which gives you some extra access to initiative gain, condi clear, defense, a free sneak attack, etc. Not to mention the 10% condi duration boost on the runes.
idk how this abuse work, like equipping Banners maybe ?
but i think it should have no CD so we could actually use the so called useless “Rune of the Warrior”
Equipping and dropping banners is one example, yeah. I wont get into details on how the exploit works (super easy to figure out though), but once upon a time with Ranger’s weapon swap traits you could stack perma fury/swiftness just by clicking into your inventory, and then Anet gave the weapon swap traits a 9s CD.
Would be foolish not to do the same with the Warrior trait IMO, even a 4s CD would be fine to take into account Warrior runes.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a 5 second CD, the point is that without a CD people will probably abuse tonics/consumables that you can use in combat to get free condi clears. You can do such a thing with other weapon swap traits that dont have CD, but the impact isn’t as huge as it would be with BR.
Sadly this won’t work for every profession. Melee based professions get the short end of the stick this match up.
A lot of professions get the short end of the stick in some way (as good as Engies are against Thieves for example, try putting one up against a good Necro and its gg for the Engie). Or do you seriously think playing Warrior/Guard deserves zero tough matchups?
Regen Ranger is worthless outside of WvW small man roaming (and Ranger in general has a lot of PVE stigma). If your intent is something that regens and works in both PVE and WvW, you really only have two options: Altruistic Healing (heal when you apply boons) Guardian or Warrior with Healing Signet. You can dish out a ton of damage without any investment in healing power and have your healing too, augment as necessary with food/sigils/runes if you want more regen(such as Omnomberry Pies/Mango Pies, Vampirism Runes, Sigil of Blood etc)
(edited by roamzero.9486)
I dont know if this matters that much but isnt one of them a burst skill and the other not. So it may not be fair to compare them in a “vacuum”.
Considering Bonfire is a #5 torch move on a Ranger, and he’s comparing it to the highest damaging “fire field” type move, I think he’s trying to say subtly that it needs a buff.
Even comparing class mechanics to class mechanics, does any Ranger pet come remotely close to being as impactful as Combustive Shot? It’s like one guy has a bazooka for a class mechanic and the other was tossed as a squirt gun.
Im just sad there is nothing to really look forward to in the patch for Thieves. Venoms and P/P are still gonna suck, Invigorating Precision and Assasin’s Equilibrium will still suck. The two hit cleave on daggers is all that’s there really.
Just lower the CD of Lightning Reflex to like 25-30s. Or make the evade on SB work in a similar way.
Ranger’s lack of ability to kite (when compared to other classes like Mesmer/Thief, or Warrior even) has always puzzled me, when it’s supposed to be the preemptive ranged dpser.
The game has been out for nearly 2 years and you still fail to realize that melee out damages ranged for the ranger? Forget about whatever description Anet gave for the class, they seem to know least about the class when it comes to balancing, so a bad source for any info that’s ranger related. Also, you are using the wrong utilities and build if you can’t kite. Ranger has so much access to soft CC is’s scary. You should try utilizing it sometime =p
I was comparing ranged builds to other ranged builds, not melee counterparts. Mesmers with staff and offhand pistol for example, Thieves with P/D or SB, Warriors with LB or Rifle + GS, all those generally outperform a LB Ranger currently as far as positioning /kiting goes (unless you can land LB stealth 100% of the time, gl with that..).
And you should try utilizing a Ranger’s soft CC against a profession that gets -98% duration on said CC :p

I think that the upcoming patch might bring power spec Rangers up to par with condition tanks, but until pet issues are ironed out (stupid AI that dies way to easily, even if you micromanage pet swapping) Ranger will remain kind of kitten.
The SB Choking Gas nerf is pretty ridiculous too, considering Mesmers can summon phantasms and clones without breaking stealth.
The issue with Choking Gas was that you could use it while in stealth without getting revealed.
So? Mesmers can summon phantasms in stealth which can be potentially more devastating than anything a poison field can do. Seems like a double standard like the nerf Ele got to RtL while leaving skills like Rush on Warrior as-is.
They ruined choking gas from stealth :/ oh well, guess it is unfair to stack damage while in stealth, so that is sort of ok.
Tell that to Mesmers that stay in stealth while their Phantams/Clones do their work :p
Well, its not like Thief is the only class to get unique benefits from its class mechanic. Take for example Mesmers. Applying weakness/conditions to the Mesmer does not transfer over to its Phantasm/Clones. Rangers are the same too with their pets.
