No one will take it because if you want to do any damage you will need to have terror or lingering curse. They kitten us hard regarding condi builds. And dhuumfire is not looking good. The damage has been dropped by 3 in that you have to stack it 3 times to get the damage it does now which means you have to stay in ds longer on a condi build and it’s hard as hell to build life force on a condi build. God why can’t people see that we are getting screwed.

Condi builds in general will be dead since every roaming ele will probably run diamondskin now.

I think the traps will go to either mesmers, revenants, or engineers. Or god forbid Warriors, with trapper runes we would see them running around and stealth killshotting everything, it would make them worse than p/d thief roamers.

Every time I try using this skill, it just does nothing. I figured at times I would get blinded or obstructed, but Ive yet to see the skill hit anything when Im using a balista. Is there a trick to it?

Activating healing surge causes you gain adrenaline and heal at the same time (say 800hps). Healing surge deactivates when you reach 3 bars (so by spending the adrenaline you can extend the healing).

I don’t mind the extended range too much to be honest. It’s one of the very few things that counters the GS-runaway BS that Warriors pull in WvW.

Yea, the build definitely lacks condition clearing. SoR would be a good filler SotH. That’s one of the problems i’ve been thinking about. Usually, when I mess around with trapper runes, i’d be running 0/6/6/2/0 as a full condition spec and it has ways to clear conditions through traits.

What about a build like this? And instead of using Carrion gear I switched it to Sinister/Berserker?

Slot 9 is open to suggestions. Most likely would be Frost Trap or some sort of stun break.

I run that with celestial gear and warhorn instead off offhand dagger, works great. Only weak to certain guardian builds and exteme condi pressure (perplex necros/thieves) even with the extra condition removal.

Part of the problem is that the game mode in itself isn’t spectator friendly. One thing in common in just about any spectator event is that there is room for easily identifiable amazing things to happen.

In basketball you have last-second scores, half court shots, etc. Football has amazing touchdowns and passes, intercepts.

Are there any skillshots in GW2 pvp? Any amazing moments that can be easily picked up amongst the cluster****? Really the only thing spectators can latch on to is the score and how close it gets (nobody likes seeing blowouts), and an occasional tactical maneuver like lord-rushing. Most of the time though everything just blends together.

AFAIK it’s the highest power DPS boost you can get in food (unless you rely on skills that root you down like pistol whip or 100b) .

Celestial is nice because you can take Scepter and Axe as your mainhand weapons. I haven’t settled on a specific build yet for celestial though, but I have had ok success with 0/4/6/0/4 Unholy Sanctuary setup. This is for WvW smallscale.

I like doubling up Radiation Field with Corrosive Poison cloud as an Asuran, with Spectral Wall as the third utility. Works nicely with high condi duration.

Diamondskin is horribly OP against condi builds in 1v1s, but sPvP is about team battles and spamming crap on point, and not 1v1s, rendering Diamondskin useless. I don’t know how such a terribly designed trait wormed its way into the game.

Probably a bug having something to do with the animation of the casts. Thrown traps for ranger have the same bug, and the animation is similar (maybe the same) as throw gunk and blinding tuft.

Yeah its for PVP and pretty ridiculous. Take the lowest CD shouts and you heal 6k every 24s. Literally a second heal, both to yourself and your teammates. Only downside is you lose the utility of stances and high stability uptime.

If you wanted a cele build with SA you may want to look into, strength, hoelbrak, aristocracy (all of those are might stacking amulets) or krait so you have extra condi pressure in addition to your cele stats. It’s really up to you though, try playing around in a build editor for a bit and see what looks nice.

Or if your really want to up things a notch, go full celestial p/d + perplexity runes + sleight of hand. Other weapon set you can use s/d or d/p.

Ive also seen some people pull off celestial d/d + sb. So yes, it’s viable, in wvw at least.

Realistically Do you think ANET will do anything to fix our role competition? I think one thing that should be looked at is BETTER condi clear.

If they try to buff mesmers sustain will it be effective? Or is the class so pidgeoned into thief food that its useless.

Mesmer can potentially have ridiculous condition clear. The problem is that conventional shatter burst builds cant access it. But more condi removal on top of what they can get is not the answer, it would just make them more of a nightmare in the long run (when other issues get fixed/buffed) and WvW.

Best all-round professions that can do something really well in all game modes:
Warrior
Guardian
Ele

Professions that are uneven and/or have design issues:
Ranger
Necro
Mesmer

That said, every profession is viable for everything in the game and has something unique and powerful about them, largely a matter of finding one you find fun (which can be difficult with the way Anet has leveling set up for people just starting the game).

Of all the quality of life stuff they could put into the game, I wish they would put in something to address this. It seems pretty simple, if the worry is about a flood of ectos/mats into the market, just make WvW gear salvage into Badges of Honor, and make Karma gear salvage into a bit of Karma instead of mats.

The only issue would be making crafted/dropped gear slightly less desirable, but would it really be that big of a problem? Do people really make money off of crafted gear? Would it really be that bad if Vials of Powerful blood went down in price a little?

Hunter’s call is really only good in hybrid/condi builds to proc the Sharpened Edges trait and Sharpening Stone effect. Would be a nicer ability if there were more no-CD on-crit/hit effects for Ranger to access.

Traveler runes are great on condi thief for the 10% condi duration.

But there are better options for other thief builds. 2/0/0/6/6 S/D builds for example can use Pack Runes and popping steal (triggering thrill of the crime trait) plus dodge rolling gives you perma swiftness.

Centaur runes are another power rune, and when used with withdraw heal you can get near perma swiftness as well.

The build is a functional all-round one, but the problem with running LB in WvW roaming is that to beat you, any competent player just needs to dodge pindown. No one decent will stand in the fire field either.

Cele trapper works great with LB too, instead of using a tuning crystal just use a sharpening stone. (And slot in some condi sigils, like earth + torment)

There must be some modifications to the WvW mechanic that can be done to prevent massive blobs. It just makes it impossible for anyone to defend anything when you get 100 people blobbling and rolling over everything.

What can be done to change this phenomenon?

A cycling 1-2HR event (once a day? every other day?, every 8 hours? Something at an appropriate interval) that awards a massive chunk of PPT if pulled off successfully, maybe siphoned directly from the enemy teams.

For example, part of the event might include capturing and holding the middle areas of the BL maps. I.E. While holding 2 or more Borderland Bloodlusts, first team that captures X camps and towers takes X% of the enemies points and adds it to their own. Swords are disabled for the event.

Something like that would force blob splits both to attack and defend.

EOTM should be competitive. Therefore, players that commit to winning should get the lions’ share of rewards if their side wins, and everyone else a consolation prize. It’s really a pretty straightforward fix.

It is an opportunity to level any crafting discipline from 450 to 475, if you need it. The savings in gold is substantial enough. Otherwise:

Trogdor II (Or whatever the heck they plan to call it when this item is released.)

I just wish items like Mawdrey II didn’t give garbage, it’s barely worth using them over just trashing the stuff. Instead they should have made it so that you could refine a few items with a lower or no additional cost per day. (I.E. With 2 obsidian shards and 10 reagents, Mawdrey could eat 500 dust and poop out 5 bricks a day)

S/D + P/P isn’t too bad for power specs, although with no SB you sacrifice a lot of utility. But with P/P you can offset the weaknesses of S/D alot better, using ranged pressure to finish off people or open up a fight before switching to S/D. Spammo unload builds just dont work IMO.

The regen activated from the rune triggers does not work with the condi removal trait.

However, defender runes are still pretty neat, you can use them in a signet build with Written in Stone to get an extra 4k heal off the active, or add oomph to the Glyph heal.

If you take concentration training, moa + jungle stalker are a niche combo that can keep almost perma fury and 5 might stacks up (unfortunately concentration training triggers in combat only, really really dumb)

To make that more sustainable I tried that water runes (extra heal and condi cleanse) and blood and leach (for health steals) but it is nowhere enough.

Defender runes are better IMO if you want more sustain, effectively adding 4k to the signet active heal if you time it well. Also condi removal sigils help, such as generosity or cleansing.

But then again this is for WvW/PvE that Im suggesting for.

Eh, as a Mes player who does occasionally use Cele gear, I’d say Trinkets. Especially if you’re getting regular gold/commendations/laurels … it’s easier to get multiple sets of Trinkets.
[Although, Jurica and others aren’t wrong, RE: Cele stats. Mainly, a Mes is a walking waste of Healing Power, stat-wise. Mightstacking is mediocre, at best. You’re mainly going Cele to get either “kinda”-zerker or “kinda”-condi.]

I would say healing power is a great stat if you can keep up the regen boon since it scales pretty well with healing power. So basically PU + Phantasmal Healing. But that doesn’t leave much room to be able to do damage, Ive been thinking about a Scepter/Torch + Scepter/Pistol Cele build with Malicious Sorcery but haven’t gotten around to trying it.

I wouldn’t call it a solution, really. P/P sacrifices everything to do decent damage, and sacrifices too much damage to do anything else. It’s just a bad set.

I really wish that somewhere (in critical strikes or deadly arts) , the devs would add a Master/Grandmaster trait that reduces the ini cost of pistol skill by 1 when dual wielding pistols.

Maybe buff combined training to do something like this? There is just so much utility in the P/P set that I feel you can’t use much without sacrificing a ton of damage for ini management.

you can also run celestial weapons – trinkets with sinister or carrion armor. Setting it up that way will increase your defense, while maintaining a healthy offense.

I often go knight’s weapons (LB + S/D) + full celestial with trap runes, and it does really well. Has weakness to CC classes like Hammer Warriors but if you can see one coming you can use stealth plus the superspeed proc to run circles around them until they die.

I think with the xpac the BL’s should be collapsed, so you get one main BL and the strongest (usually Green) server gets Citadel and the implicit responsibility of defending it, EB, and the new map. This would also help the low pop servers a lot.

If ppl whine about more queues with 3 maps instead of 4 then maybe that’ll encourage people to transfer and spread out.

Rangers still have the worst class mechanic in the game, but in terms of PvP/WvW they are pretty good. In PVE they can be good but have a bad name due to all the bad bearbow Rangers.

I think rifle damage is fine. In fact, Killshot does more damage than Eviscerate and it’s easier to land now :/

Rifle 2 and 4 are really boring though.

..They can’t damage me with their conditions faster than I can heal myself back up and I can’t do enough physical damage to them as they are to bunkered. That was the whole point…

This game isn’t and shouldn’t be about hard counters. It’s bad enough that BS traits like Diamondskin were put into the game.

And if your intention was to be able to defeat condi builds and not just bunker/stalement then you took too much condi removal. Condi builds win by attrition and you beat them by taking just enough condi removal and DPS (good DPS, not bunker DPS) them down quickly before they can gain the advantage. The only class that can win against condis by bunkering as far as I know is elementalist, because they can might stack like crazy over the course of the battle.

The biggest issue really with WvW roaming is the ridiculous +40/-40 food and not condi builds themselves.
