Im disappointed to not see any indications of changes to Ranger shortbow and Thief pistol.
Speaking of thief pistol, I really, really hope we don’t have to wait over a year for somekind of gunner elite specialization to make pistols viable on Thief.
Im also disappointed on their being no word on addressing all the boon spamming that’s infected the game.
You have to ask yourself, Brew Pinch, why an old trait like Diamond Skin is creating so many threads just now?
Actually DS created many complaint threads, when it first came out but after a while they vanished simply because the meta builds for eles didnt run the trait and most people dont complain about things they dont encounter.
Even so, the threads complaining about it were actually fairly regular, popping up about once a month, even when the trait wasn’t popular.
Given the amount of people running condis and the way condi builds are advertised as newbie friendly, it’s only natural to see this number of thread popping out.

I was watching Nos stream earlier and even he couldn’t break DS on an ele before getting plus 1’d (and he was going at it for a good 30s+, and I think he was using Cele amulet). Some noob right.
Also, is Unbound supposed to be floppy or stiff? Which physics is the bug- it being floppy on other players’ screens, or it being stiff on your screen? Was that ever answered?
Dunno but the BP looks incredibly clunky the way its is currently, I hope they fix the animations for it to give some float and flex to it.
I hope the legendary PVP BP doesn’t end up with the same issues, looks like it could be really clunky too judging by seeing it on the NPC vendor.

Some classes are going to get overly buffed while other classes will get overly nerfed. It’s just trading one terrible meta for another.
That’s basically what I fear at the moment – that they’re just going to be continuing this ridiculous power creep by buffing something else.
I get the impression that their “balance patches” are/will be more focused on changing the meta than actually balancing anything. That’s not going to end well..

Tried it, and it doesn’t work. You could however play this trait with sword/pistol for really good burst with pistol whip. It’s fun to see your target die to pulmonary impact while fleeing, after getting pistol whipped.
It’s pointless in PVE and Thief is only worth it’s salt as a +1 decapper in PVP. But Ive been running a build like this in WvW and its great fun:
Roaming is gank or get ganked/zerged down. The stealth and mobility afforded to thieves and mesmers gives them the best defense against the latter.
Lack of mobility means you’ll either be in a zerg or humping friendly keeps/stonemist. If you don’t mind that then the build should work ok.
Auramancer – DS is the most cancerous trait in the game and it doesn’t help that Ele was already OP thanks to the June patch before HoT hit.
Reaper – The only good thing about DS is that it keeps these guys in check, with it nerfed Reaper needs some fixes to either its AOE condi application or surviveability or both.
Chronomancer – Like Ele, Mesmer was close to the top of the heap thanks to the ridiculous changes in the June specialization path, so its overtuning needs to be brought down.
while boon rip would be lovely, in older streams they have noted that boon stripping is a defining trait of necromancer and Mesmer, not the warrior. So chances are that wont happen.
Warrior should take a route similar to the Destruction of Empowered trait, working around boons instead of stripping them. For example, instead of stripping protection, it could get something that bypasses all damage reduction except armor. Or to deal with stability, make Blood Reckoning have crits also do a really short 1/4s daze to remove stab stacks. Make Torch’s Blaze Breaker inflict an extra stack of burn per boon on target. A lot of things can be done.
Female Norn have this slow feeling movement animation that is ill fit for a Thief, they feel better as a heavy armor class.
Between the two I would pick human for that reason, but there are a million human female thieves out there already.
Boons in general are out of control.
Want Thief/Warrior brought back into the fold? Make tweaks to have them punish boon spamming hard.
Give Warrior something that bypasses protection. Swap Destruction of the Empowered with the hammer trait and make it GM-worthy. Make some Berserker abilities scale with how many boons are on the enemy.
Un-nerf S/D #3 on Thief a bit, maybe bump it up to a 2 boon steal again. DD Staff could be considered to have something added to deal with boons (Staff #4 maybe?). Maybe make Distracting Daggers or Fists Flurry unblockable and with a boon strip.
Best meta was right around the Dhuumfire nerf up till Anet overbuffed Warrior.
I would give it a risk/reward type mechanic instead. Something like:
Vulnerability applied to you increases your outgoing damage, while under 50% HP vulnerability and might is applied to you.
Three big changes needed:
Shortbow buffs/reworks
Pet balance patch across the board so there is more synergy and not only like 5 viable pets
Core Ranger tweaks to bad traits like Honed Axes
Is Beserker Warrior now Meta for the raids?

Warrior has been OP in PVE for a very long time, and it still is.
Big fail on Anets part, since newer players might not even know about lfg and taxis at all.
Personally I think the no hard res thing is a great change and doesn’t go far enough. I would also completely remove the speed increase of multiple people resing a downed player while in combat (or limit the max number to 2). It would open up the role of medics in a zerg and make outnumbered fighting much more satisfying in smaller battles.

I main a reaper and there is one thing that ticks me off about diamond skin and that is the immunity to my non damaging CC condi’s. That shouldn’t be a thing. It’s just not cool when I have set a few marks down and the ele just walks right over them without having to dodge and just easily avoids the chill or fear.
See, this is the problem with majority of complaints about diamond skin atm. ‘Oh it counters my build’ or ‘I don’t like how it works against me ’ so ‘NERF PLZ’.
That’s the thing no build should hard counter any other build in the name of balance. There should be more counter play involved. It just gets stale when you’re seeing nothing but immunites pop up. I got close to 3k hours on my necro, so I’m not just some guy that just started playing necro and I’m on my final tier in ruby by just playing necro. PvP is just stale as heck right now.
Why not? This game isnt based on 1v1s. It’s a 5v5. Contesting a point in a matchup unfavourable to you? Get a team mate to rotate over.
I like how people don’t even pull the L2P argument with DS like they do when defending a lot of imbalanced stuff. You know there is a problem when instead it’s “don’t even bother to play, let your teammates do all the work”. That’s just not fun at all.
Proper DS fix: Diamond Skin breaks when it absorbs X incoming conditions or HP drops below 80% HP (30s ICD).

HoT is filled with waay too much projectile hate and way to much boon spam.
Zero Sum Rewards:
Zerg participants purchase Defender Tickets when taking a structure such as Stonemist. Attackers can purchase Assault Tickets. A successful assault plunders the Defender Tickets but failure takes away the Assault Tickets and converts them to more Defender Tickets.
Individual players can buy Skirmisher Tickets. If a player with 5 Skirmisher Tickets kills someone with 10, they take away 5 from the defeated for example.
Tickets can be converted to gold/rewards.
Shield is already one of the strongest warrior weapons, and warrior also does not stuggle with landspeed mobility. It struggles with staying alive and blind/evade/invuln spam.

Nike/Run Away Warriors were pretty cancerous in WvW so personally Id rather see stuff that gives them more utility and active defense options to contribute to a fight than stuff that enables them to be cowardly.
Not every class has access to boon strip though. Better would be something like 5s of resistance when struck with a condition above 90% HP, with a ICD of 12-15s. Or a different mechanic, like gaining a bubble that absorbs 10-15 incoming condies on a 30s ICD that gets activated when above a health threshold.
I must be getting old but to me there’s something wrong with using “full AIDS virgin neckbeard” as a way to describe a build ? I mean, what does that even mean ? Or is it some redundant condition referring phrase ?
Some troglodyte on Twitch coined the phrase since he gets salty whenever he gets his rear end handed to him by a condi build.

Base Mesmer and Ele were OP before HoT hit so it’s entirely unsurprising that their specialization versions are dominating along with the shiny new HoT class.
Alot of Thief’s bleed attacks are 4s base (Vital Shot/Sneak Attack included), this should be bumped to 5s (Thief condi is garbage without pumping +condi duration, unlike other classes).
Body shot needs an overhaul. Either ini reduction, significantly buffing the vuln duration, or additional effects.
Black Powder should have its ini costs reduced by one, and Heartseeker upped by one to compensate for the d/p set.
Ricochet trait needs to be baked into Unload. Another neat thing that could be done to Unload is a directional evade leap (if holding a directional key while triggering the skill, for some John Wu style action)

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re entirely unaware of this issue.
Weeks after HoT release of the insignia/inscription recipes not being available in-game, ANet correct their mistake, now weeks of waiting for the late added insignias/inscriptions to be patched to be Forge compatible.
But we better focus on those visual changes.
I hope someone notices.
Despite QQ’s about Warrior’s pvp performance its still a top tier PVE class.
Ranger has higher pvp potential but Anet loves to slap it with unwarranted nerfs that can affect its PVE performance (which isn’t that great unless you fill a niche like healer Druid, especially compared to Warrior).
Unless you love Ranger for its flavor as a beastmaster/bowman and some of its unique aspects I would steer clear.
I definitely think those two traits should be swapped. For Daredevil I’d also like to see the Swiftness in Dash just baked into one of the minor traits, and the Swiftness on Dodge in Acro changed to the might stacking on dodge trait.
Warriors are still pretty ridiculous as a PVE class, Anet has to be very careful about buffing them in PVP without affecting PVE too much, otherwise optimal raid groups will end up being 9 Warriors and 1 Druid/Tempest healer.
Since Celestial is supposed to grant all stats it would be nice if they added the condi/boon duration stats to it.
Rangers are the red headed step child of the game that have been riddled with bad design decisions and unwarranted nerfs throughout their history. It took a massive outcry and giant forum CDI thread just to get them somewhat up to par. That said luckily healing Druids have carved out a niche in raids and condi Ranger supposedly is second to Engineer.
Some of those changes would just make Warrior flatout OP. Id rather see other classes nerfed down than power creep and the return of Hambow or worse.
Id like to see:
Healing signet active heal boosted a little
Mending buffed to by Physical skill
Fast Hands baseline, Brawler’s Recovery takes its old spot (2 condis on swap would be broken OP, so no on that)
New Trait: Fire Fields destroy traps and wells
Swap Destruction of Empowered with the Hammer trait and make it also grant -3% damage reduction per boon on enemy from its attacks.
Make Flames of War grant blindness immunity for its duration
Plus a lot of Berserker abilities tweaked to have boon hate (i.e Blaze Breaker adds a stack of burn per boon on enemy, Make the Blood Reckoning crits remove stability or very short daze)
Warrior just needs decent utility to carve out a good niche in the Meta.

How to fix Scribing:
Scribing is now tied directly to the guild. A character’s scribe level is whatever the scribe level is of the guild they are repping. 400 scribing achievement is now aquired by crafting a 400 level item while repping a guild with 400 scribing.
All players that currently have or are leveling Scribing will get an exp token that matches total exp gained in the profession, which can be applied directly to a guild or sold on the TP.
Don’t forget the new ways to take flat damage reduction, like mussel food and scrapper runes (-17% damage under the right circumstances). It might be possible, otherwise why would have Anet lowered the enrage damage boost to 200% from 500% in the beta.
The base bleed on sneak/vital attack should be brought up to 5s IMO.
Its creative but convoluted.
Taking your idea,
*Set CAF to 20sec CD that will recharge while its active.
*Allow CAF to be used 10-100%.
*AF degenerates @5%/sec while in CAF.
*CAF ends when AF reaches 0%.So people that want to blast only the good skills for a couple seconds will be met with a 15-18sec recharge while people who run near full bar and heal with it for a time will be met with the requirement of recharging AF but with no CD.
So basically it would be like a healey Death Shroud minus the HP pool aspect? I think it would work better like than it does currently.. Though degen is kind of pointless, AF in such a situation should be a resource that the skills take from, like Initiative or what Rev’s have.
Wish they would fix this!
marauder trinkets are in the game. they are the reward for completing the achievments for the hot story. and yes they should be here but so should build templates, a visual noise toggle and a hot lfg tab and a raid lfg tab.
Which ones?
I only got three marauder amulets, a very small part of a trinket set.
They gotta save something for lvl 500 Jewelcrafting :/
Part of the problem also is that the poorly optimized overflow system that came with HoT makes it a requirement to use LFG to get anywhere with the meta events, a feature buried just enough that new or casual players might never know it exists.
How much lifesteal does the draining sigil do?
My speculation is that the insignia recipes is either a TD meta event completion drop or will be a raid reward.

diamond skin is fine.
it only works when the ele ‘s health is 90% or above.
an ele’s default health is like how much? 11k?deal 1.2k direct damage to the ele and watch the ele melt to conditions quickly.

People like this always come into these threads and they are always wrong. Most popular Ele specs run bruiser or support celestial, giving them 17-18k, and they spec for access to healing and sustain.
DPS with a Rabid or even Carrion amulet cannot out damage their sustain.
The game has always been somewhat unfriendly to ranged specs. But with a lot of the new armors/sigils/runes, you can ride the boon bandwagon, pretty easy to get 100% boon duration on a Ranger now, and boon spam is safe against everything but a Necro.

I havent gotten one of these weaps yet, but only a few of the skins seems nice enough to be worth it, considering it takes less resources just to craft an ascended weapon. Can you at least be able to pick from any of the new stat sets?
One of the cheesiest traits in the game when it works in the Eles favor, one of the most useless when it doesn’t. Personally I dont like any sort of hard counters in a game (even worse if they are passive) so I think it should be changed.
