1. Staff should have a perma shadow-scythe

After seeing all the raging about this, I honestly hope they take the skin back from players who purchased it, and give them 800 gems only, nothing more.

Nice… In other words, you don’t like those that are unhappy with the change so you hope they get hosed. Real nice..

Notice how “after all the rage over this”, they want to take away from the honest buyers, yet it was the T3 high-horses that cried until it was changed in the first place. -rolls eyes-

I was told all of my suggestions are selfish just because I use Blood Fiend even if it is sub-optimal. I think I ruined it for us. :/

I agree. I’m a bit i dismay over rich pve’rs walking in and buying tons of pvp gear day one… Why not glory+smaller amount of gold…. Glory is just pvp’s karma. Glory+gold would be way better than just gold…

Gold and Experience in PvP
- In the December 10th update, you’ll be able to earn gold in PvP as a match reward. As an extension of that, you’ll also be able to spend glory and gold to purchase account-bound Tomes of Knowledge, which grant a level each and will allow you to level up any of your characters. The Tome of Knowledge will be found on a new glory vendor that has several items available for purchase with both glory and gold.

Gear
- In the months that follow, we will be working to eliminate the difference between PvP and PvE gear. Players will be able to earn gear in PvP that can be carried over to PvE and vice versa.

- This means that players who have carefully crafted their appearance in one area of the game will have a way to carry that look over to other areas of the game.

Achievements
- Another thing to look forward to in the December 10th update will be new daily achievements for wins in Solo and Team Arenas. These will give players the chance to earn up to four additional total achievement points per day. Along with this change we will be rebalancing the Slayer and Conqueror. The points will be spread out more and additional tiers will be added

Updated Reward System
- With gear unification we will also introduce a system that allows players to set goals for rewards in PvP and work towards them. We are not ready to discuss this system in detail yet, as it is still being developed, but more information will come as we get closer to being able to release this system.

- Once this new system is in place, glory will be retired as a currency, and gold will be the standard currency across the game. All existing glory vendors will be removed at this time. We will give advance warning when this is coming so you can spend all of your existing glory before that happens.

Exactly what Rashan said. If the numbers are OP with ds, tune them down a bit (but I can assure you no vampire traits are OP, MM ones are about where they ALL should be) but IF it is for whatever reason would lead a Dev to believe that, tone them down and let them heal through DS. Its absolutely clunky feeling to have heals/traits that don’t work with your class mechanic whatsoever.

MM actually isn’t an auto win if they run full stances and zerker. IF they do enough damage to kill you in as short of time possible while CCing you they will wreck you. However if they do soldiers or not enough stances yeah, MM is a surefire way to kill them if you can outlast any initial oomph they may have.

a small 1-pixel line on enemy bar and 2 stripes on each side of your hp circle would be pretty fine

Well there are a lot of traits that trigger based on 25% hp, 90% hp, 30% etc. Just knowing the % of hp would be best tbh. Obviously the information is already being calculated, so it just needs to be displayed.

Evades are different than most MMO combat cooldowns. Notice how no one is asking to see enemy cooldowns. In most MMOs combat is pretty straight forward, exchanging damage and their defensive cooldowns are something really noticeable, shows up on the buff bar, and has like a 2+ minute cooldown. AND they also have addons (especially in WoW) where you can watch enemies’ long cooldowns. So yeah, you kinda can.

I’ll thank Anet if/when I can keep my armor.

And it’s absurd to blame players for buying additional items to further customize their character’s look based on their initial purchase.

No one is blaming the players, but many of you seem intent on blaming Anet because you chose to purchase additional items other then the armor skin. The skin is the issue, anything else is irrelevant.

But it is relevant…example…you buy a sofa. Once you get it home you decide to further enhance the look of your new sofa by painting your walls. You then go back to the store where you bought the sofa and buy the matching chairs.

The store decides to recall the sofa fabric and replaces it with something that no longer makes your socks go up and down. Not only that but, it doesn’t match your newly painted walls or the chairs you purchased from the same company.

To extend on this, yes you can get your money back for the couch instead, but guess what it also does. It hurts your trust in buying from them again. And that’s what this will do. Except the gem store has less selection so if you mess up your sofa sales in this game you’re going to be taking a big loss.

The facts: The players need know how to count enemys dodges and CD’s, this split noobs from ‘pro’ players and makes the game more fun to be learned.

You… CAn’t… DO THAT. kitten , why are people saying the same thing that’s false OVER AND OVER.

YOU CANNOT TELL IF AN ENEMY HAS ENERGY SIGILS.
YOU CANNOT TELL IF AN ENEMY HAS ENDURANCE REGEN TRAITS.
YOU CANNOT COUNT THAT ON FIRST SIGHT.

It’s not streamline nor is all information always displayed so stop making this pro-bullkitten comment. I’ve played in the top 200, and even top 50, I know what the hell I’m talking about. No, waiting for 2 dodges isn’t hard, but not having enough information absolutely leads to spamming everything on CD because there’s no telling 100% that anything will land so saving CDs becomes less optimal and it promotes spamming at all times rather than bait and push tactics.

It wouldn’t be cluttersome neither, it’d go right over the bar, probably somewhat in the middle. Likewise, it would be good to have the option to display our own HP as a % for us instead of number (though its less of an issue cause you can pre-do the math on %s but that’s just sort of a lame way to handle it.

I never said it’s easy and it’s not supposed to be. But it’s quite possible.

I might as well ask anet to also implement a “Win the Game” button. It makes everybody’s job easy wouldn’kitten (why the hell does the forums turn “wouldn’t i t” into this?!)

The answer is no, it’s not possible unless you know every enemy’s build. Its 100% impossible if you don’t know if they run hidden endurance regen traits and/or have energy sigils. You can’t know that. Especially not from your first encounter. Its hidden stuff like this that ruins PvP. Being able to THINK about your next moves isn’t an iWin button. If that’s the case lets remove enemy boons, your own boons, etc and just hope for the best at all times… Get real.

In fact, lets just make sure we can’t see our HP in combat or our enemies. Just judge based on the damage counters you see in combat how much HP you probably have left.

I totally disagree with this.

This would be one step toward making “good observations and battle reconnaissance” less important.
Currently, a skilled-enough player can count the enemy dodges and bring vigor into considerations. During the match you can even analyze enemy movements and roughly figure out whether the enemy is using energy sigils or not. All these are possible with good observation and being vocal with your team.
An enemy endurance bar just kills all of these for people who can observe these things without a bar telling them so and just makes it plain easy for those who can’t. It just further lowers the gap between a great player and a normal one.

You might as well bring GW1 cast bars into GW2!!!!

A good player cannot bring passive trait Endurance generation into consideration, nor sigil of energy because it’s impossible to know if they have them. (Except ranger, you can generally tell if they have the passive endurance regen trait.)

im saying healing signet should not be viable ONLY to zerker warriors, but great for bunkers.

jus like how a mm necro may use summon blood fiend, but it would be unviable for a condi necro.

Well, don’t say unviable. It should be viable for zerkers just fine, but ALSO useful (more useful) for bunkers, and yes Mending needs help. Surge honestly just needs its lower healing portions raised so the jump per ardren bar isn’t so much. The 0 adren heal is the biggest drawback of that heal, otherwise I think it’d be fine. Just note; nothing should ever be unviable. That’s like asking for imbalances. Some people don’t like the idea of useful builds that aren’t strenuous but its a game, some people like to play and play well without having to jump hoops, that’s not a bad thing. Most builds that have REALLY high risk and high reward are typically called “gimmicky”, which isn’t much better. Too many gimmicks are just as bad as too much simplicity.

The moment you said anything should be “unviable” is the moment I stopped reading. Nothing in the game should be “unviable”. There’s nothing wrong with builds that are easier to play because they often have big downsides to have that easy of play.

Healing signet- very weak against burst damage

MM Necros – No on demand condi removal, or very little, no CC breaks, hard to control damage, often incredibly vulnerable to aoe and weak without pets.

Thiefs – Pretty much any thief if they screw up gets steamrolled, even though they’re all considered “cheesy”.

Nothing should be unviable, some stuff should be better balanced, but that’s the line. Stop crying about imbalance then say things shouldn’t be viable…

Actually, there are some unbalanced things about duels, so it might get a little frustrating.

????
This is an MMO.
MMOs don’t care about anything short of constant extreme imbalances (4v5s, cheese-CC/condi spams, excx)
If you build a spec to duel in this game, it will be generally playable against other duel specs.

This is the overall truth. You have to build for what you want to do. You can’t throw your 70 points wherever you like and grab a few utilities and expect to win. You can’t do that in tpvp neither. You have to know what you’re building for, and every class can 1v1 just fine:

Mesmers: Phants / PU / Shatter(shatter less than the others)
Necromancer: Condies / MM
Elementalist: Arcane Burst / Somewhat still effective is D/D 30w/30a
Warrior :
Guardian: Meditation DPS
Ranger: Spirits / BM
Engineer: Turrets / Hgh / Powerburst
Thief: Perma stealth / Sword+Dagger evade / Others

Just have to build for it.

I’d actually love this only because I feel like certain classes miss out on themes, or rather, some get favored. Like imo, (dark colors aside and Halloween) Necros don’t get too much love, most stuff better suits Mesmer’s elegancy or Elementalists with flashiness, and things like Ranger get shorted by the mass amount of Engineer long coats and ninja outfits. Overall; I just say yes. That’d be wonderful. Also, make it something you work for, not buy with gold or have some stupid mats grind. Make it a decent quest line, and be a skin (usable for pvp or pve).

I’m sort about Backstab’s coefficient of 2.4. You must have difficulty defeating thieves with your Rifle’s Kill Shot’s coefficient of 3.75. :c

Oh god, please never pretend Kill Shot is a reliable/good skill. I don’t play warrior and even I know that move is an absolute joke… >_>:

2v2 is much more balanced than 1v1(and even conquest) even with the imbalances it does have. Warrior Hambow obviously has its upperhand in 2v2, but overall its pretty fun and has a lot of different viable comps. (Spirit rangers are also very popular in 2v2)

As long as #6 stays locked it wouldn’t be OP, it would just make sense as to how other classes can get passive/splash heals when blocking etc. Now if we could heal with #6 in it YES, very very OP indeed. However as long as all utilities stay locked, I think healing in DS should be allowed.

@OP: l2p dude, seriously. I multiclass every single profession in this game and thieves (especially backstab) are only strong in wvw right now (and even there they aren’t as broken as condi mesmers/necros/warriors or pretty much half of the stuff you see roaming).

S/F Zerker ele, glkittenter mesmer, Static Discharge engi, DPS meditation guardian, and I am pretty sure there is a number of other specs. All of these DO deal MORE DAMAGE than backstab thief does.

Not to mention the backstab spec is not even the apex build for pvp right now.

Also just wanted to say, 10/30/0/0/30 I believe it is, is D/p and it does pretty well in pvp, and it uses backstab. Just cause it’s not D/D doesn’t mean it doesn’t use backstab. There are viable dagger builds. Not saying they’re OP, I’m just saying they’re more out there than you think. Also, I’m fairly certain 10/30/0/0/30 builds will be a little better off after the patch because it doesn’t use any initiative traits, so they’ll have better init gain. (Unless I’ve forgotten about some other nerfs that would hurt them specifically)

And smart PvPers are more than able to do that, I don’t see the issue. And there’s still a lot of randomness in this game.

I know they can, but as for counting Endurance (/dodge rolls) you can’t unless you magically find out if they have energy sigils or not, any hidden vigor traits etc. The thing is, is it’s entirely impossible to know these things which is why the bar would increase good playing. Also, it demotes spamming because you could rightfully watch for windows of opportunity, without having to play the guessing game. The guessing game is why its best to just spam the hell out of something and hope stuff lands (for the most part). I don’t think you guys are thinking it through how this would make the game LESS spammy and more skill intensive. Not every player is good at keeping an eye on various informations, such as enemy buffs (why not just hide those too, right?) personal buffs/conditions. Those things you can watch increase skill cap not lower it artificially by making you completely clueless.

One of the reasons some people love PvP in GW2 is that the whole combat flow stays true to what the devs promised before launch. “You should be fighting your enemy, not your UI.” Seriously, if you don’t like it there’s already a game out there you should be playing. Stop forcing solution from other titles just because you think they define how an MMORPG should be made. The beauty of GW2 is that it’s different. I see that on every forum of every MMO, it’s disheartening really. People are terribly close-minded and want to homogenize everything they touch.

And no, adding any kind of endurance indicators, enemy cast bars, huge buff icons popping into your eyes doesn’t add to skill cap. Quite contrary, the fact that some folks feel it’s needed only shows how unwilling they are to admit they might not be as great at this game as they would like to think. For the record, I myself am not that good, but I know that room for improvement is in reading enemies, combat, movement, builds and so on and not in adding UI elements flooding my screen.

If you don’t know what the enemy is doing it’s not the game’s fault. It’s yours.

that’d be the case if they had like in Elder Scrolls games where if you’re low on endurance you kinda limped a bit or looked more sluggish that showed that your energy was low. That’d be really cool.

Gem Store Question

The moment they start selling actual statted max-level gear (which seems to be what you are suggesting?) in the gem-store is the moment they are making the game into a P2W.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the thing in store needs to be interesting to buy.
If they look exactly like something you can already get in game (for less gold no less) why would anyone bother buying it?

It already is a p2win. Just saying Gems → Gold – > Exotics is technically “P2W”, even if you can’t get the best gear just yet, but some of it you can still with money.

Just FYI We just lost a 2v2 to Spirit ranger Hambow, so you can cool the guns. Hambow Spirit is much stronger.

While I’m on the side of keeping it, I agree with Stof here, they probably will; however. I actually think they should do it now in-game rather than later. People may have bought that skin and are working on leveling an off-race alt because if it who doesn’t know, so what I’m saying is, people might still be making decisions based on thinking they’ll continue to own the skin or not knowing it’s changing. A note to buyers sooner than later would actually be best.

I also remember a lot of complaints that such design was “lazy” and “cheap” as well.

No matter what a developer does, someone is going to kitten about it.

Well I get the lazy arguments, hence the “if”, but what I’m saying is IF they’re going to reskin, at least be creative about it and mix and match to make a new set with some reskinning, I’d say its much better than an obvious whole set just reskinned a bit.

A company named ANET did, when they reskinned and mixed elements of existing armors for some of the EoTN Prestige armors.

But that was “that” ANET and unrelated to “this” ANET.

Well I had never seen it in an MMO, my apologies for that blanket assumption. :P

My point was they’re already removed it from the BLTP and are even changing it from the people who bought it. So what you were wanting is already in effect. x.X The last 15 pages have been about whether or not the decision was fair to the buyers.

I feel like at least our own traits should work in death shroud, like spite 5 or the siphons. How many classes have traits that don’t synergize with the class mechanic?

Could you imagine traits like:
Ranger: Do x additional damage randomly when you attack but your pet stops attacking.
Warrior: Increase damage by 10% for x second but you’re unable to use burst abilities.
Guardian: Heal with Virtue of Resolve heals twice as much, but you cannot be healed again for the next 5 seconds.

I mean essentially these are the same thing. It’s really silly that they ever thought our only defense and class mechanic would be “cool” if it didn’t accept healing. It ruins the whole idea of Blood and makes 0/0/0/30/30 build’s make no sense which is absolutely ridiculous, and causes us to work clunkily in group pvp where say, a guardian uses a cone heal, we just waste it.

If they felt healing was too strong in DS, fix out heals a bit to compensate but don’t give us a clunky mechanic and call it interesting or say its a balance issue. BALANCE IT, and let us have a non-clunky mechanic. Same with stomping. If we can already shroud stomp and it’s not game breaking… just let us do it regularly!

Anet added insult to injury by not only using the Tier 3 cultural armor skin but also making it way better by adding flame effect to it.

Anet completely ruined the very concept of cultural armor by selling it in the gem store and allowing all species to wear it. They further screwed it up by making the gem store version way better than the normal version. Anet needs to immediately reverse this decision and either remove the skins from the gem store or make the gem store version the boring normal version and the cultural armor skin the one with the cool flame effects.

I only started playing GW2 in April so I probably missed a lot of previous drama, but this situation seems to have caused the biggest divide between players I have seen in a very long time of playing MMOs. Granted I ignored a lot of forums from previous MMOs I played.

Undoubtedly this has been an absolute mess.
