A lot of us 80’s are working on legendaries or other craft able weapons. Most of us are farming to make the gold and mats we need for these weapons. I thought it might be nice to have an option to “flag” an item in our collections tab reminding us not to sell them. I farm in Orr and typically get a ton of mats that I don’t need to craft my weapon and so sell on the trading post for a profit , however I keep having to alt tab to remember which ones I need to save.
Thoughts?
I want my very own teddy! ^^
Haha yeah I know what you mean. I’m not really saying which method I like better, i honestly dont really care either way i will buy a few and take what i get, only that the black lion chests caused a huge kittentorm for the poor employees to deal with. :P
I am 100% buying that sexy outfit if that is the costume. So nice!
I’d be willing to bet my gold that the chests will be unique from the blc just like the consortium chests. There was way too much of an uproar with the blc and lost shores consortium chests were ANet attempting to correct an upset community. If you look at the consortium chests they took a lot of community feedback (for example including at least one new skin in every chest, with a small chance at a rarer item).
I wouldn’t be surprised if they never did the hallowen type chests again to be honest.
I let $5 a month keep rolling off my credit card when I played freerealms (a kids game, mind you) and the main reason for this is that they have so much kitten fluff content. They update their cash shop once a week on the same day with new items. They have pets, housing and items for your houses, mounts, a ton of clothes and virtual tadig card (and a really fun game/tournaments to go with them) Guild wars has none of this and I still LOVE this game but honestly, if it did, I’m pretty sure I would never stop playing and be thousands of dollars in debt.
IM SO EXCITED! I would expect to get more info on wintersday sometime today. I think for he the events so far we got info a week head of time and wintersday starts Friday.
Hey everyone!
I have been frustrated with this lately. I have an 80 elementalist and an 80 warrior. I started fractals on my warrior and am now at level 10.
Sometimes I wish I could take my elementalist into fractals but I think it would be a pain to redo them all. I’m curious how you all feel about this?
According to a few different accounts the hat is the same skin as the witches hat we all received for Halloween.
No they haven’t I got a drop today.
Introducing mounts might be okay even for those who really dislike them. Some of you may disagree, but I see them as a really optional thing. With the waypoint system in place (to stay, I assume) it will give the players kind of a trade off situation. Some will only use mounts and spend a large lump sum on that, some will only waypoint and spend small but constant amounts on that, and some will do both an this will provide more of a gold sink. ANet could even introduce mounts as a craft able thing making them expensive to make, then they could introduce new materials, a new use go old materials that don’t sell, and another thing for people to have fun creating (a goal to work towards for people who aren’t going for a legendary or already have one.)
I’m all for mounts as long as we can fight while we ride them.
Although it would eliminate the usefulness of speed buff classes…
It would be great if they developed a way to include mount speed into your other speed buffs. That way it would stack and classes like elementalists would still have a mobility advantage. Maybe even just stacking your passive speed buffs.
I have to agree with you. Although I understand their reasoning behind not adding mounts I feel that waypoints are more detrimental to the experience of the world. I use them even to travel short distances ( like in cursed shores for example, when going from event to event and trying to get there quickly.) personally I would be more inclined to travel and explore more if I had a speed boost that a mount would provide. Also, this game is lacking a bit in effective fluff content and I think mounts would provide for a great gold sink and help the economy, as well a give us another means of non vertical progression.
I should of known better than to think I could simply have a fun conversation in the forums without a wild troll appearing
When you’re at the mall and the top you want is to expensive so you ask the cashier if they have a dungeon you can run that will provide a similar skin!
Haha! I love this thread.
When you try to salvage your old jewelery it into orichalcum.
When a colleague is outperforming you and you report him for botting.
When you get into a physical fight and worry about how much your armor repair costs will be.
When you see a hooded creep on the street and just assume he is an undercover member of the order of whispers.
When your excuse for not taking full 8 hour shifts is that “you will hit diminishing reaturns”
I read it again and I understand what you meant now. However, yes I do still have doubts. A 20% drop rate for precursors would be insane, I’m pretty sure it would just break the game. Even the unique skins at Halloween had a much much lower drop rate than that an they weren’t worth nearly as much. I suppose I don’t have any logical evidence to dispute this other than the fact that it just makes no sense for it to be that high.
Gaile,
Just for the record, I can not agree when you say: “Some people were accidentally sent a second chest. That does not impact you and that should not cause you distress.”
Who is buying the percursors from the TP? And with what gold? When you have a system that mixes in-game gold with gems bought with real money in my opinion you can not say it does not impact us.
Best regards,
Red
Very few of the initial loot drops contained precursors. Presumably, the drop rate is similarly low for the mailed-out chests. And the number of people likely to get an extra chest with a slim chance of a precursor (and an even slimmer chance for a very valuable one, like Dawn or Dusk) is even smaller. Doing something like giving a chest to everyone or anything else like that to try to make it absolutely equal would have an even bigger impact on the economy than an extra few precursors slipping their way onto the TP “unfairly.”
Bonefield,
I can not agree with you. In my event of the 100 players there about 20 spammed the chat with their newly earned percursors.
Do you think 20% is low?
Unfortunately you saying that “20% of people got precursors” is ludicrous. Consider that not everyone posted about what items they got and that people are MUCH more likely to post about it if they did get a precursor.
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to meeee….
A yummy rytlock shaped cookie!
Thanks for the response Gaile! I was just curious if the intention here was to send everybody a single mailed chest regardless of whether they got one at the event or not. I think you answered my question if I understand correctly.
I also would just like to say thank you for the time and effort you and the team has spent on this. It wasn’t required of any of you and is way above and beyond what we can typically expect as customers. My attitude towards any issues since release has been more or less “eh, whatever”, but by constantly making the extra effort for your customers you are all are making a lot of people very happy. Keep up the amazing work over there.
What I’m curious about is the coding used to decide who qualifies to receive a chest. It seems that some people who got multiple chests during the event are getting another and so are people who weren’t logged in at all. Seemingly this would mean that everyone will get another chest. Is this the case? I won’t complain either way but it would be nice to know what the situation is. This code doesn’t seems to only be awarding player who participated yet got disconnected.
This doesn’t bother me at all and I’m pretty sure anyone who it does bother is severely over dramatic or has OCD.
Oh wow I was under the impression that it is out but drops as an account bound? Thanks for the info I will edit the thread.
I’m not sure of that was sarcasm but a ton of people asked or some sort of tiered progression. Besides that, ascended stuff if HARDLY better than exotics so…
And even with the mass amount of threats they do lock and delete this forum is a cluster kitten, imagine how it would be if they eased up on moderating even more? Oh god.
I dont see the point for GW2…the moderators just infract and delete
ANYTHING they dont like. They just deleted and infracted a guy for warning players that accounts are getting hacked….again….
That’s not true at all. People here have a huge problem of making 35 threats about one topic and being rude and non constructive. If you’ve had a problem with this have a read over the rules of the forums. It is very clear what is and is not proper conduct.
For one simple reason: no matter how messy these forums get (which is pretty messy), gaming companies like Anet rely on customer feedback to provide a gaming experience that people are willing to pay for. They use this a a source for feedback on the game and id even go out on a limb in saying that the forums are the number one source for this feedback. So in short, the success of the game depends on it.
I would like to add something about player empowerment here. There is a TON of animosity on these forums. I have never had an issue with this game, and here is why: I play the content that I enjoy. If I am opposed to what fotm brings to the game (which I’m not) I don’t involve myself in that sort of content. Huge precursor drop? Good for those people who got one, I didn’t! Why be spiteful? People don’t want to take me into the new dungeon without full exotics on a level 80? Well I have gotten to level 6 with a level 50 character because when people were rude I understood that kitten exist in every section of the world not just in video games and I found someone else to go with me, someone who also is concerned with enjoying the content for what it is and not taking everything so seriously.
So about empowerment- nothing in this world will be perfect for everyone in this world. Take things at face value for what they are and don’t leave everything on the shoulders of the Devs. Focus on doing the things you enjoy and ignoring the things you dont. Find creative solutions and positive sides to all of your problems. This is the attitude for life, really, not just guild wars. And yes I agree, people should lay off the Devs. I don’t care what anyone says about being entitled because they paid for this game. You paid a measly $60 and got more than your money’s worth after the first 2 weeks of playing. But, like I said, you will find these people everywhere. People need to worry WAY less about what the Devs SHOULD do for them because they forked over a little bit of money and more concerned with what they can do for themselves.
I have fun every day. I wandered into tribulation rift jumping puzzle and spent forever looking at the environment. This game blows my mind every time I log on. When I hear about an event I am excited every day until it goes live. I literally can’t understand the mass of complaints. There is of coarse things I can think of that would make my gameplay more enjoyable, but as is this game is insane.
I would seriously recommend that you find a new guild. I’d like to play with my friends also but in reality I have about 2 friends that play. How I have made friends is through being in a guild. Because of my guild I have gotten up to fractals level 6 on a level 50 character. It sucks that this is what you have to do to enjoy this part of the games and in a perfect world it wouldn’t be like this, but every dungeon and every game will be. Doing this for yourself might make you enjoy yourself just that much more.
+100
This dungeon is ridiculous. It’s so much fun. I wish there was dungeon armor because I did it 6 times in a row and didn’t get bored. When I think about running TA even twice I want to cry. This is amazing. Please make more fractals over time, you’re on to something here.
I am looking for a guild on Ehmry Bay.
I’m hoping to join a large (150+) semi-casual guild with active members that always has people in guild chat. The main things that I am looking for are friendly and reliable members who are helpful and I can have fun with. Guild events are always a plus.
Pvx and helpful in running explorable dungeons and also casually participate in pvp and wvw.
I am a student in my 20s, very mature, with a level 78 elementalist and a few mid level alts.
Thanks in advance!
No way, I agree with you OP. I saw this npc for the first time yesterday and it made my day, so fantastic. The world feels so alive with the singing npcs and the grumpy ones, the racist ones. It’s just like real life!
Some of the dialogue really makes me laugh. On the apple orchard in queensdale:
Female: most people don’t know this, but trees are male and female"
Male: " yeah, I don’t really pay attention to that sort of thing"
- the dye drop rates were unintentionally increased, this was fixed a few days ago causing the prices to re-stabilize.
-ANet did a huge bot ban last week which caused the prices of crafting mats and other drop items in demand to further re-stabilize
So this is the reason, and the prices now are where they are “supposed” to be at. There was too many in circulation before because of bots and this caused them to be pretty worthless.
I understand what you’re saying Fluffy. To clarify, by persistence I meant educating the played about the game, not proding them to play. I agree with you in that sense. A lot of gamers won’t try a game not because they hate the game that they were asked to try, but because they like the game they are already playing. In my instance my dad thought guild wars 2 was only a pvp game. My mom really enjoys crafting, a well. When I told them about the different pillars of the game that was what got them interested when really they would have never took the time to look into it if I hadn’t. Not sure if the OPs situation is the same but if his friends dont know about the game or have misconceptions then he might be doing them a favor by explaining it.
My advice to you is to be persistent! After a resounding no from both my parents, I managed to convert them over from wow. I just asked them to play once, and when they said no I nonchalantly slipped the highlights of guild wars into pretty much every conversation. “Did I mention that YOU DON’T HAVE TO STAND CAST?” ( I think that feature alone should convert anyone, haha.
ANet has stated that they do a thorough background check before handing out perms ban so its a good idea for us as players to report suspicions as well so they can take into account the activity from these players and number of reports they have received etc.
I think part of it probably has to do with the competition as well. You can’t give your players “ideas” of new content too early because there is a chance that other companies might develops this faster than you and take away from your player base.
I really enjoy the more mythical and unique creatures like the shade and minoraurs. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE this game. However, one thing that really peeves me about most modern mmos is the lack of diverse and different creatures. I mean, I am in a complete alternate reality, so why are there so many boars/wolves/cats.
I find it ironic that you’re making a post about uninteresting or irrelevant threads that no one cares about (ie. motives on playing the game) isn’t this the same kind I irrelevant topic? I mean, at least motives for playing has to do with the game, this is pretty left field.
I wasn’t personally affected by the hurricane in any way, but it is so honorable that ANet did this. I can’t imagine the disappointment for those that missed out due to this. I know it is just a game, but having your life torn apart (for some) and missing an event you were really excited about, we’ll that’s just the cherry on the cake. I bet you made a lot of people very very happy!
These. Are. Amazing.
Before I take a verbal beating I will add that I like them mainly for the prestige/aesthetic aspect which I think this game could use a teensy bit more of (and not because they’re in WoW)
I think it would be a smart move on ANets part. People who want them buy them, ANet makes money. People who don’t continue on their merry way unaffected. Maybe an upgrade for speed percentages for people who don’t care about awesome rideable dragons?
I would love mounts and feel more encouraged to explore if it didn’t take me 25 years to reach places. I know there are waypoints but when I reach that point in my mind where it’s between the silver in my pocket and my time, I’d rather begrudgingly walk.
Not that I would leave the game without this feature but it would add to my personal quality of life in the game
Wow I’m curious too..
Nice! Thank you I’m hopping to pick one up too. I also wonder if that mean you can get the other craft able weapons.
I heard this rumor, can anyone confirm/deny?
@smokey I’d really like to hear how you would fix this….
I’m having a blasty blast. This event is ridiculous fun. I didn’t expect any of the stuff from act 2 and 3 that I have played. This is so over the top.
