I wholeheartedly agree. If I had the option to toggle the skin effect I would have already 100% bought one, but I just paid for my new face and hair! How can I cover that?

On a semi-related note.. Add a dye channel to the flames? Pretty please? I’m not the only person should would find the flame themed skins 100x more appealing!

If they wanted to slip the baby hippo in there somewhere that would make one player very happy -ahem-. When I saw the kitten I for sure thought we would see the other baby minis also!

Yeah but they are still unde the “special” category in the collectibles tab, not the aerie 1 or 2 tab.

I’m so impressed by this an the fact that they are going to also reinvurs people who used Karma during the change. I was savings ton of karma but I wasn’t that bothered by missing out. This was really over the top nice, thanks team!

These are new in the collectibles tab and on TP, does anyone know how to acquire them?

IMO- if we’re being reasonable, a game like guild wars 2 which is based off of horizontal progression is missing out big time by not implementing mounts. How are they any different from cosmetic armor or weapons? It’s another things for players to collect (keep them playing) and another way to make money. If they implemented them in a way that rift of WoW did I think it would really be a positive thing. They could be special drops from world bosses, from events or achievements and sold in the gem store, also with their own achievements tied to them.

I think the argument of them making players skip all the scenery falls really flat. We already have speed increases and waypoints. If I had a mount personally I would be more incentivized to run places as oppose to way pointing which truly does make the world smaller. I actually am really surprised this game has not already implemented mounts, I think it’s a missed opportunity.

I wholeheartedly support this. WPs videos were how i first discovered the game and one of the main things that made me so interested before launch. His online prescience definitely contributes to my enjoyment of the game.

I heard that you get a mini from completing all 3 tiers of the queen’s gauntlet but I can’t seem to find out what mini you get. Is it the same as the watchknight for completing the meta achievement? Thanks.

I would have to agree. I think this patch is by far the most impressive (excluding the aetherblade and molten core dungeons which I think we’re also amazing). The sanctum sprint race is an incredibly fun mini game.

I agree with this! I play a human and he is very tiny. I feel like all the minis could be a bit bigger, honestly. I like the size of the toy ventari inside tixx’s workshop. Smaller than a ranger pet but not “mini”. I have no idea how difficult this would be to change though.

You can not, at this time, use tixxs minis to create festifoo. If you combine tixxs minis in the forge you will get another random mini from the game.

Great video! I really appreciate someone taking the time to help how players that are having trouble instead of being mad at them. I didn’t personally have a problem with the puzzle but this kind of thing in the community is really great to see and is what we need more of!

For anyone going for the quaggan- be prepared to spend anywhere from $20-$60 dollars on mystery boxes. I know others who were fairly lucky with them. I myself was not and it took me $60 worth of gems just to get the 3 minis required. I’m pretty certain that $60 would be a pretty good cap though.

TL;DR: turning your settings to low and mouse sensitivity up will help with jumping puzzles. I went through a similar thing with the clock tower. I ha always played gw2 on my laptop and didn’t really understand how frame rates worked (I thought lower was better, woo hoo I’m at 10fps!). I tried to do the clock tower for hours. When I finally decided to play on my moms computer for a change (which is spec’d for gaming) i got it after a few more tries. If you’re running under 20fps it will really make these puzzles (not just timed, but all of them) significantly harder.

I’m not sure why this is causing an issue much for everyone. I played for a few hours over the last few days and I’m done the achievement (while this happened, I wasn’t aware it was an acievement) My advice: just play and have fun. If you end up on a team that is bothering you, leave and re-enter.

So to follow up on this question, the event runs until the 3rd. It had been previously stated that after tixx has visited all 5 major cities we will be able to visit him in lions arch. So hypothetically, once he is in lions arch could we play the dungeon ever day after and have enough materials to make all of the minis?

So I have far surpassed my budget for gems and in hopes of getting the quaggan mini I have been running around opening the gifts that drop in the world. The patch notes state that the mystery boxes in the gem store (containing the minis) have a chance to drop in the world also. My questions are:
1) can anyone confirm that these drop? I have opened dozens and haven’t come upon one yet
2) I have opened many giant and small boxes as well. The rewards seem to be respectively 1 ugly sweater and 1 ugly sock every time. Is this not working as intended or am I horrendously unlucky?

I understand what you’re saying. I guess my point was that even knowing the paths won’t compensate for the average level of coordination. While its easy for some of you, medium for me, it’s very hard for others. The goal is to balance this correctly so that it’s at the appropriate difficulty level. For example, doable by 70% of people as opposed to 10% of people.

I did finish the clock tower, but this one took me at least a few tries and I couldn’t just farm it over and over. I consider myself slightly above average at jumping puzzles so I think this difficulty level if pretty good. You must just be THAT amazing!

It could be lag. When I did the clock tower on my laptop, forget it, wasn’t gonna happen. I played on a proper computer afterwards and didn’t have any of those issues. What is your framerate at?

It doesn’t appear that there will be holiday themed items in the black lions chests.

The main argument agains a was that it was a “give everyone everything” type situation. I personally prefer option b because it gives me the opportunity to gamble a little and then if I fail save up to buy the mini I want with gold. It is exciting and also makes you feel that you’ve worked for your prize.

We were just discussing this is another thread and the general consensus seemed to be that the best two options would be to:
A. Make mini pets in a chest with a high gem price and account bound
B. Make mini pets in a lottery style chest, craft-able in the mystic forge and tradable

I’m not sure Wolfey. They say “any combination of” which implies snowman x snowman x golem etc. the correct grammar in that case would be “in any order”. If you have so many maybe give it a shot and you can confirm for us?

It can be any 3 festive minis actually if I’m reading correctly Wolfey, even 3 of the same.

Rhy I hope you come back to read this. The recipe is any 3 wintersday minis + 50 enchanted stuffing (not sure if this is available yet.) this should get you the quaggan mini.

I don’t think the people in this thread are really interested in getting rich mka,it’s more about getting the mini you really wanted. The way Halloween did it and lost shores did it give you a chance or an avenue either way to eventually obtain the one you want. This system allows only the very rich or very lucky to do that. Gw2 is really based around equal opportunity for all players and so this particular method seemed (to me) very out of character. The mystery boxes will be dropping in the world tomorrow so it’s also possible that the minis from them may not be account bound. Either way, I don’t particularly agree with the method as it stands. I’m curious to hear what ANet’s reasoning behind it is.

It’s not impossible, i can say for certain it is MUCH easier that the clock tower. The clock tower took me (no exaggeration) 4 hours, I got this one after 4 tries. Keep at it, you’ll get it!

Haha ill hold you to that Wolfey incase they change it ;P honestly this didn’t RUIN the event for me, I did get the mini infinitarium and didn’t even realize he flies around until I opened it. Got a kick out of that! Haha. And the snow globe scepter with the lions arch lion in it is literally amazing. Everything is done so nicely.

I honesty don’t even care if I opened 20 and didn’t get the mini I wanted, I just wish they were not account bound so at least even if they go for 100 gold in game I can save up for one. Hoping this is a mistake or something they change, seems odd to have account bound minis. Especially when there is a recipe to craft the quaggan.

Totally agree! Kudos to Anet! I personally really enjoyed the last two events, however it seems the community brought up a lot of concerns (both valid and invalid). The event isn’t live yet and I keep very up to date with the forums and reddit, so far it seems like almost every issue players had has been addressed. Will the event be perfect? I don’t know if that’s even possible, however I don’t think anyone can say from here on out that ANet doesn’t listen to its players. I am soooo excited!
