i’m not opposed to the idea of a meta, if anything it helps keep the game running, i’m not opposed to anything in my post really, i’m just disappointed at the player behavior towards the meta.
The complete reliance on meta builds and setting these meta builds as prerequisites for anything rather than letting people experiment and make their own builds to increase diversity and exploration, that’s what saddens me.
when someone opens a party it’s his right to make requirements for the party; it is you who choose to join or not to join said party; you can make your own lfg with whatever req (or lack of) you want; don’t expect other players to cater to your tastes
i’m not expecting anything from anyone, i’m simply stating my opinion on the status quo on what is expected from players, nothing more.
Fellas, we need to stop this, GW1 and GW2’s skill system was meant to provide limited active options using a large pool of choices to allow the players to come up with combinations to serve a particular gameplay goal set by said players, it is not about following a meta-council’s wishes as if it was the bible.
This is not stating an opinion. This is lobbying. You make emotional statement about things you find wrong and you want others to stop these actions. Problem is all you are complaining about is a matter of taste and personale choice, there’s nothing wrong about playing or not playing meta.
the problem is everyone is playing meta to the point where people not playing meta are trivialized and rejected.
But if everyone is playing meta then noone is left to be rejected.
almost everyone*
I’d like to see a detailed data you have that makes you jump to such conclusions.

I’d love to have heroes with similar posibilities as they were in GW1. So I can manage their gear and builds and micro their skills. Thanks to them I woudn’t have to play with other people anymore.

Stacking in a corner or on (around, next to, etc.) the boss is still the same in regards to the whole post here.
Then how do you expect people to melee a boss? Attacking from an alternate universe with attacks that can penetrate the fabric of the universe?
inb4 melee too much rewarding
melee is exployt, nerf plox
…
@OP: All I can gather from this thread is “I don´t like it that people are doing this -> must be removed”. I don´t like unnecessary stacking either (there are still sooo many people that stack in old FGS spots), but you know what I do? I don´t care and just finish the dungeon =P
If you don´t like stacking in general just open up your own “no stacking”-group on the lfg-tool and kick people that don´t fulfill the requirement – simple as that.I never said i don’t like it or that they should stop it. Just saying that stacking merely means that your whole team is standing in roughly the same spot. Be it in a corner or in the open.
plz tell me how 5 players fighting boss in melee range can’t stand next to each other?
Even if meta changes there will be new meta and there will be new qq topics about new meta. This is endless circle of cause and effect.
And now a jump to the left
And a step to the right.
Put your hands on your hips.
There will always be a meta, no matter how much devs are going to kill build diversity. What’s more it will be worse, because now it will be easier to assume if anyone has “wrong” build. When you notice 1 trait from “wrong” path you know he has full path traited after change. Pugs are gonna have hard time.
Now about OP accusing others of killing fun because meta. Who are you to tell me how should I have fun in this game? I like meta builds, I like being optimal. I like learning meta builds. If you don’t like, don’t do it, simple. But don’t expect those who want to play this way to cater for your personal tastes. Find likeminded people and play together.
It’s not going to be called Paragon, it will probably be some type of Angel or Archangel.
The wings are too obvious to be connected with its name.
The same thing for the Chronomancer, you could see clock faces/gears inside the shield.
No, it won’t be called angel or archangel. Such cliche entities do not exist in this universe.
Paragon (obvious guess), Justiciar or Herald those are my guesses.
And now a jump to the left
I think this picture deserves 7 more threads.
I hope it’s a paragon. It’s already established profession in GW universe and it would be interesting to know how this profession evolved from its origins.
Anet will never answer you. Use it at your own risk.
Your first mistake was hopping on the forums before playing the game yourself.
A quick way to quit playing a game is to read all negative comments on the official forums. It only highlights the negatives, typically in an overly dramatic and exaggerated way. Anyone who defends is instantly called fanboy/white knight.
Play the game at your own pace and come to your own conclusions.
Been playing GW2 since early release and I’m happy as a clam. I’ve only ever been able to muster 1-2hrs/day with my work schedule, so I can’t comment as someone who plays 8hrs/day. I’m at ~1800hrs played or so at this point and still enjoy myself.
Well while Anet hypes everything to the oblivion, forums make a natural balance for that hype. This is why we’re getting druids with HoT
I suppose Anet can’t release any information about their new expansion in an excited manner without it being called hyping. What company wouldn’t hype their own product anyway lol.
I also don’t understand the “why we’re getting druids with HoT” comment. We’re getting druids in HoT because Anet hypes everything? Or because the forums make a natural balance for the hype? Neither really makes sense.
Are you trying to say we’re getting druids because the forums dictated it? As in WoW players have somehow directed Anet into making druids? I’m honestly confused.
At the same time there are people who take any word of critique as hating or trolling. See? This works both ways.
I’m not defending anyone here. As I stated before, I love the game and at the same time I’m disappointed with it. World is not black and white.
And the druid part was a joke about balance between hype and hate. You know. Druids. Balance. Nature.

you already answered your own question, people who are happy don’t complain.
This assumption is so much biased.
I’m happy with the game, I can say I love it and I want it to be the best game of the millenium. However the management, the decisions they are making, lack of significant content for 3 years… this is disappointing to me because this game could have been so great but it’s only average.
its a fact and you proved it, you ain’t as happy as you would like thats why you are complaining.
But I’m enjoying a game. I stopped buying gems until they fix their approach and I still believe I will see better times for GW2. If not well I got what I paid for. Problem is you only see black and white reality – that if I like the game I should praise it and if I don’t like some parts of it I must be a smelly hater. Well it’s not that simple. I am an aware customer, I demand the product that I’m buying to be perfect. And I’m using my customer right to complain about things I don’t like.
I could call myself passionate about this game and this is why my blood boils when devs do changes I consider bad.
I don’t have to be a fanboy to love this game.
Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 was NEVER F2P game.
It is a B2P model.
Please don’t spread lies.

Why do OP assumes it is hidden diversity nerf? For me it was right in the face,
Beta is made to test content
Not in the last decade. It used to be about testing once, but now it’s a marketing tool.
Do try to keep up.
Just because game developers are using beta testing for advertising it doesn’t mean it’s supposed to be just this. However the quality of game market is so low I expect the worse from developers, including anet.
Beta testing is to present product before release to wider audience, to check players acceptance and solve issue that can be revealed only with bigger stress than internal testing. This is how it should be and this is how I expect anet to make their beta.
If this is just a hype preview, they should have a courage to name it like this. Since they didn’t I’m assuming this will be a literal beta testing so I expect veteran accounts should be prioritised to get access.
I would honestly rather have a beta test group demographic of active NEW players than experienced but bored and/or inactive players.
Obviously, the beta test group would be best if they knew the game in depth, but you can’t guarantee that vets of the game will walk in with an attitude that is not biased based on however they feel about ANET’S previous models and content drops.
There is no real way to screen players to ensure they will be the BEST beta testers… so lets all not pretend there is and let RNG do it for us. I didn’t get one by the way, but like I said above, I’m glad to have mostly active players in the beta (some of which may have grinded SW & DT for many many hours or days, which forced them to play at least a little bit more hahah).
Beta is made to test content not to admire landscapes. At least it should be because anet haven’t shared with us any info about what is going to be tested in the next beta. If my statement is the case then vets are better at finding bugs and exploits than new players which most probably have no idea what is a bug and what is intented in this game mechanics.
Anet wants a good sample of players. Not just the elite, not just the ‘deserving’, but people who will play the game in wildly different ways and thus, provide some nice data to poke at.
How do you know that? Is there a red post about it? A blog post? Or interview? Or is it your inside info? I’d like to know the source for the revelation of “what anet wants”.
When new skins are released buy them from TP for gold, 100% win ratio.
If you’re selling then that’s the end of the discussion. Arenanet has all but said that they don’t intervene on the behalf of path-sellers..
This is a lie.
They’ve said they don’t suport path selling however path stealing or happy kicks still can be reported.
However don’t count on any consequences here. I know at least 3 constant path stealers that run around in LA laughing at faces of cheated players.
#justarenanetthings
The first invitation was not a beta but stress test.
People will tell you that name is taken from lore and has nothing to do with the game mode we had in GW1 and then discussions concludes. Save yourself some time and don’t expect too much logic behind any claims defending lack of GvG in this game.
you can report them by submitting support ticket with the screenshot provided, probably nothings happens to the stealers because this is the way anet does
remove screenshot from the forum because its against TOS and you will be banned
annoying doesn’t equal to challenging and new lupi is definately annoying
good players accomodate and move forward, bad players will be wiping whole days or wallsploiting, how is this better for the game?
Looks like Tyria must be a USA state then. What would be the other reason to put musiras habits into fantasy world? So players from other countries feel disconnected?
My guess is that necro spec will be designed around ritualist weapon buffs and the only reason I think of this is because Belinda because without this plot twist her existance is pointless.
Does anyone know anything about necromancer greatsword yet if it’s gonna be ranged or melee and condition or power focus.
can you see any info on official page? No? Me neither.
Good luck to everyone who’s trying for a portal!
(And yes, it’s truly random, not determined by your astrological sign, the number of letters in your name, or the color of your socks.
)
I don’t believe you.
I’ve already told you how condi builds could work with structure so go back and read again.
This is GW2, so I expect it to be better than GW1 however after 3 years this game feels like a poor neighbour of great game.
I fully agree with OP and I don’t care about people that don’t agree with us. I stopped paying for gems and I hope more and more disappointed, not paying people will force anet to put more effort to the game.
Condi builds are as spammable as power builds. If more restrictions were put when fighting mobs you would have to think before spamming skills on cd. This is stupid. However looking at how anet “fixed” turret build on engi I have no doubt we will see nothing good from them in terms of combat and balance.
Do as I did, stop paying for gems. Only with lower income they can start to care about quality of the game. Right now GW2 feels like a fast food with too many fries, so you feel full but it wasnt very delicious.
- illogical conditions system (poisoned turrets and blind sand?!)
Would you rather condition-based weapons be rendered completely useless against a considerable number of enemies, because that’s by far the worse option.
Much better solution would be making some enemies invulnerable to some effects (you know, I don’t believe that STONE elemental can bleed) while being more vulnerable to others (e.g. plants and structures should take double dps from burning). This is logical and it was already implemented in GW1. This is why there are people feeling that anet lacks the effort and looks for the fastest and cheapest way to achieve revenue.
I agree with OP but I don’t have any infractions left to elaborate about scandalous state of the game
1. There a lot of “80’s zerker only!” in the LFG tool, and its incredibly obnoxious.
How on earth is this obnoxious
Because it’s so prevalent to the point of completely dominating LFG.
It’s only because casual “all welcome, no clue what to do” groups are filling so fast you don’t notice them. Or don’t want to notice them.
Can someone explain me how exactly does black lion weapons work the skins. In Trading Post if i make an order for chaos axe skin for 100 gold and get it i recieve the skin. Can i then sell it back to trading post someone byus it for lets say 135 gold and i get the skin and profit without losing anything.Or it only works for a ticket when you buy it you get the skin and you can sell it.
unlocking skin makes it unsellable
Could you provide some data about this “most” you’re talking about?
It works like TV commercial.
“limited time”
“sale”
“special ocasion”
“the only wayo to get…”
You must learn how to be an aware customer in a world ruled by corporations so you won’t be scammed by them.
Living World is a failed experiment of making profit without making a game (expansion)
If everyone is toxic, noone is toxic.
Pretty sure that’s not how it works…
The point is blaming players for terrible design flaws is wrong.
Farmers have their right to farm, achie hunters have their right to get achies and map completionist have their right to run around and do their completion even if they scale or finish the event in addition.
When we had servers ppl could choose another map to play freely the way they want to. Now ppl are forced to play on maps they can’t really choose.
Reading these forums gave me the conclusion that the only toxic community is in dungeons. and pvp. and wvw.
If everyone is toxic, noone is toxic.
Stop being oversensitive. The only reason this happens is because arena net gave us megaservers without ANY way to choose the map, so farmers can’t split with other ppl doing events. The only ppl to blame are ppl who decided to realease a feature that limits ppl ways to play how they want to. This applies to farmers as much as to you. They want to farm event, you want to complete it. Fail mechanic is part of the game. It’s only anet’s fault that you;re mixed on the same map
Actually, it’s not quite true that there is no longer any way to choose a map. You can use the LFG tool to find a map that has the event you want, or join the party of a friend/guildmate who’s in the map that you want. That’s how it works in the Silverwastes; by this date, there’s a pretty well-organized if informal system dividing the map between event and chestfarming instances using the LFG tool. It sounds to me as if the various Orrian temples could benefit from a similar setup.
Actually it’s only a work around players learned to use to avoid terrible megaserver design in terms of map choice.
I played some other games where when on a map I could choose which overflow I’m playing on. Hell, GW1 had this! Why this game doesnt have it a year after megaserver mess?

turn off reflections, shadows, v-sync and post processing
I woke up today, logged in and looked at my infinite coin.
Then I logged into Rata Sum and saw the glorious entrance of SAB still being locked.
Then a new player whispered me “what is this box?” and I told him “those were better times, kid, forever gone”
and then I cried
I’m not going to repeat myself about before and after wardrobe argue. You stated your opinion, I stated mine (with mr phys very similar).
I’m going to argue with your concerns about mix/match of balthazar regalia. I agree that zodiac armors have problems with mix/matching because of their uniqueness in design however balths armor is nowhere near this level of matching problem. Every fiery/glowing piece of armor can be easily matched with it – first two I’m thinking about are cof parts or hellfire parts.
You’re arguing about matching to other armors. But that’s our problem to find good matches. Old armors have bajilion clipping issues with each other yet we’re still matching them to the oblivion. Our argument is not about clipping, our argument is about lack of customisations and limiting options.
And again – balth pijamas could have been amazing armor set but it was made a costume so it’s the same level of seriousness as quaggan tonic.
Thank you Lanfear for clarification, that’s what I mean. 1 set = 3 full armor skins (heavy+medium+light) and as phys stated it’s hard to count it as 3 sets since I can wear, mix and match only one armor class.
And as I stated earlier I don’t mind outfits that are costumes (cook, pirate) but balthazar outfit could have been a wonderful heavy armor, maybe first legendary armor? The same goes with Executioner’s outfit – great medium class design. The last mentioned I actually bought for the axe toy but if it was sold seperate I wouldnt bother buying the outfit.
I feel disappointed to the point I don’t care about any hype they will serve before hot.
The game is easy for you because you learned it.
Now get a fresh 80lvl player with 500 AP and tell him to do any explorable dungeon. Not so easy, eh?
