You’re not the first one and won’t be the last one, trust me. They care about this thread as much as me or others that share my opinion here. You posted on public forum, prepare your behind for public judgement. If you don’t care about other ppl opinions, don’t use the forums and submit a qq ticket to the support team so they can add them to other qq posts.

The whole point of the thread seems to be “i bought the game long ago, and I don’t like, it’s weekend now and I feel like qq a bit”

you don’t like traits and even though they’re getting a rework you’re now making up an argument that builds don’t matter

seriously, if you left the game, don’t bother coming back

what meta, i don’t see any meta….just some particle effects in a small place with ppl thinking they are pro players just because they still press 11111111 all the time……

I don’t bother with every of those hilarious “bash the zerker” threads. They come in pair with weekend special “nerf turret engi” or “stealth is op” season finale.

However the quoted post is one of those special when I can block the player and never play with the clown before he destroys my fun.

I think he refers to open world content, it takes a whole new level of delusional if there are people that thinks dungeon are just spam 1 all the time.

But he talks about particle effects in small places, sounds like corner stacking to me which is so 2k14.

But gliders are already coming to the game. I just don’t understand why can’t we use them in normal maps for exploration. I am not one of the “give us mounts” crowd.

for me the current dragon lore is an utter bullkitten, so cliche and unentertaining.

I think it’s good that GW2 can deliver for new and old fans and both of them can enjoy the content.

VPN basic questions

segman.3560

Howdy,

I’m and EU player and got myself a second account which I decided to register on NA servers. The lag is massive there for me (eu acc works fine) and I perfectly understand why. I’ve read once somewhere in chat that some players from EU use VPN to get better connections and even totally get rid of lags in some cases.

I have no idea how vpn works, the closest thing that comes to my mind is TOR network. And there’s a doubt I have – is it safe? I know that VPN somehow hides my ip from others and gives me some random numbers for my internet activity. I don’t want to get involved in some copyright issues or blackmarket transactions because the network gave me random ip used for some crime activity before.

Is it ok to use VPN for GW2? Is it safe from banhammer without a doubt?

Is CyberGhost VPN a good app for connecting via VPN?

quick comparison:
watch angry joe’s review for GW2
watch his report from Anet’s PAX

this is exactly what happened; at first you were probably excited and blown up with all the gw2 graphics, mechanics, events etc. but after two years it’s not that easy to be excited anymore.

That happened to me too. During the promotion I bought second account of GW2 and started playing just to experience the ‘fresh’ gw2. And you know what? Excluding things like dancing with cows or level gating skills I actually like the NPE. I have some ideas how it would be better but le’s face it – it’s a corporate thing. If it was accepted and released there is no chance we can win the fight to change it.

To be honest, I’m jealous about all those new players starting the game today. They have this whole adventure before them. I already lived my adventure and to some point I feel like old fart dreaming about glorious past.

On the forums I can see:
PvE players say the game is unrewarding.
PvP players say the game is unrewarding.
WvW players say the game is unrewarding.

Looks like everyone is on the same side which can give the clue that the game is actually unrewarding as a whole or those people expect being rewarded for doing nothing. Already we’ve been given log in rewards which in my personal opinion are the worst kind of rewards, effortless bribe you’re given to higher company’s log-in statistics. So the next step you want is what, sending precursors by e-mail on demand?

As for pvp rewards, the reward tracks are actually very rewarding. What’s more there is already very valuable shiny you can farm only in PvP – Tomes of Knowledge. Other players don’t get this treasure so easily. The other cool reward are transmutation charges.

I’m a dedicated PvE scrub with some episodes in PvP. And you know what? I totally abandoned dungeon farming and started playing PvP more. Not daily but more often than ever. And I feel really rewarded with it. I’m not a competitive type of a guy so I shouldn’t be really invested in pvp, yet still I feel rewarded.

I think you’re expecting too much OP. But it’s a matter of personal taste I guess.

As far as I can tell ArenaNet seems to be against naming and shaming and the reputation system would be the easiest feature to abuse in this game. Even if you put an individual downvote limit still I can call my over a hundred ppl guild to down vote you and make you a victim of your own idea OP. I didn’t pay for this game to be judged by some random guys on the internet.

Every verbal abuse can be reported with 4 clicks. It’s really convenient for you if you feel offended by someone. Every case should be reviewed individualy because this is not a place for bullying. And yes, the whole reputation system is a bullying in some way.

And at the end some words of advice – if you choose to play an online game you have to accept that ppl can be exactly this – people. It’s like walking on the street. Oversensitive people really should think twice before choosing an online game because overreaction causes more harm than good.

sensitive players treating this game as their own personal little sanctuary are not that much better

The PvE zerker meta is basically just DPS. It is still the holy trinity just without the tank and healer.

This is plain and simple lying. Don’t know if this statement is given on purpose ar is just a lack of knowledge.

PvE meta currently is based on dps GEAR and support/control/dps BUILD. Most professions are traited more towards party support and control than dps. Go play dungeon with only dps traits and skills I want to see this.

I honestly dont see why everyone thinks that adding a little bit of a need for build diversity would be a bad thing. Whats actually wrong with needing one out of five people to fill a support role? We’re not creating these posts because we’re “bad at the game” or “need to learn my class”. I have four level 80s decked out in Zerker gear, and its freaking boring. Having the same exact role, and only one required build for each class in PvE content? This is seriously what you people prefer over the trinity? If the majority of opponents of build diversity being more of a required aspect of the game can’t come up with better arguments than “learn your class” or “play a different game” than I would say that there are very few solid arguments to be made.

perfect post describing why you don’t understand the game mechanics, have you read posts right above yours?

Teamplay requires supporing each other HEAVILY. Meta builds are almost bleeding with support skills and traits but also they can deal damage.

What you’re suggesting here is to give 1-2 ppl at the party support roles and 3-4 ppl dps roles while now all five of them are both dps and support.

I don’t understand this logic. This is going back not forward.

What if GW2 had Trinity - but it also didn't?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: segman.3560

segman.3560

Okay, put in a different way – scrapping the “required” element as that’s clearly not going to fly:
How would you perceive it if it was more efficient to complete the new content by using more diverse builds that encouraged team support instead?

I would play it the most efficient way. Is there any surprise?
However I don’t know if you understand that in terms of group play we ARE already encouraged for team support. I can’t imagine doing dungeons without team support because I hope you don’t consider zerg events like tequatl as serious content.

So all in all the support “role” is already heavy required in teamplay and I like it it’s not the tank/healer support.

Another question for you guys (again this is all postulation and “what if?”, not what I personally want):

What would you make of it, if Anet did release content with HoT that was more challenging and different to current PvE content to the extent that it required these build variations within teams for it to be completed successfully? In other words, if it forced the playerbase to think more about how they should be supporting their team mates in combat, more-so than their damage output and individually trying to stay alive? This is just one example scenario; others could perhaps make players focus on pure damage output. What would the community make of such an addition (I won’t say “change” as it would be entirely new content).

I always welcome more challenging content and if you don’t know, whole “zerk meta badkittens” likes to conquer new obstackles.

However I don’t believe they can force players to split on roles because there is no reason for it. We can already support each other while also dealing damage so why should my friend guardian stand still and cast buffs while I’m dealing damage when we can do it together with good build composition?

The game would need a whole skills and traits revamp and I don’t believe this is going to happen.

I am a dedicated dungeoneer and you have my vote for this idea but we all know NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE.

ArenaNet screw all the dungeon community with removing instance owner and rejecting to give us party leader role for dungeons. How long is it? A year now?

It’s their responsibility to protect us grom those griefers and the only way I act now is to punish ArenaNet for their terrible oversight.

Every time something bad happens in dungeons because of the change year ago submit a new ticket. Spam their support mailboxes with the tickets about griefers destroying your fun and remind each time it’s only ArenaNet’s fault it happens.

If you don’t need a tank or a healer to complete the content, then there isn’t any compelling reason to give up the DPS and you have the current GW2 situation with all DPS for all classes.

No. We have dps/support/control all-in-one BUILDS buffed with dps GEAR.

And dps GEAR is you CHOICE. You can complete your content with soldiers or clerics but trust me your traits or skills won’t be much different to what would you use in zerker GEAR.

segman.3560

Go play pvp. Seriously. The amount of build diversity will blow your mind.

The game was advertised and sold as “you can fulfill all the roles” which means you can both control and support in addition to dealing damage. This is why I bought this game, because I was tired of looking for specific group composition in other lackluster mmos.

Therefore all you want is me to not do what I’m doing now which is doing all 3 things at the same time but you want others to specialize in different builds so I have to look for other ppl with specialized builds if I’m not playing one. This is wrong and creating such a role focused gameplay will backfire because trust me, in terms of trinity gameplay we have much better titles on the market already.

This game is better (for me) because it’s different.

About different “builds” – what I read in your post is not different build but different stat combos. We already have some new mechanics introduced in Dry Top and Silverwastes. I personally like running around those maps with soldiers, not zerkers BUT my build is still the same skills and traits because it’s a perfect combination of dps, support and control for my profession.

There is no way in this game to implement pure support builds because dodge is your best friend and when you best friend is drunk you have your second best friend aegis. Both of these features don’t need to go full nuclear with support traits or stats.

PvP on the other hand has more support/tank oriented builds and they serve their purpose.

“REQUIRES ZERKER BUILDS FOR IT TO BE COMPLETED MOST EFFICIENTLY.”

You don’t seem to understand : Zerker is mandatory ONLY IF you want optimal time. Don’t care about that ? Fine, you can play whatever you want.

Yes, and my want for different, challenging PvE content would make BUILD VARIETY mandatory ONLY if you wanted optimal time.

Understand yet?

In case you don’t, I’ll give you an example.

1. New tough boss vs. all zerk players = all dead players
2. New tough boss vs. zerk players + support-focused players = alive DPSers with added damage and support from the support-focused players.

No. 2 is the most optimal.

But thats not how it is now
1 all zerkers boss down in 5 mins
2 mix and match boss down bettwen 6-15 mins

How is your way better when it makes so all cant complete content?

Answer its not
you want to change meta to lock out one playstyle maybe more depending on how focused you need those support players

Do you not see your own hypocrisy? The current meta currently locks out all other players who aren’t zerk.

My full dps dungeon build provides better support than any silly cleric bunker useless guards.

How long is this going to take to teach ppl that good supporter doesn’t need to sacrifice it’s personal dps. You can do both – support and kill.

This game needs IQ tests during account creation.

Way to lower the tone with that last comment.

In response, I would say that not every profession is a viable supporter while in full or high DPS builds. I’m therefore guessing you’re a warrior.

You’re also clearly an advocate of the DPS-is-best meta movement, so I doubt I’d get very far with you given that you clearly prefer that single style of gameplay.

Your deduction is wrong. Actually I’m a mesmer which is, as you know, one of the worst if not the worst tier of dps (pve wise).

DPS gear doesn’t equal dps build. And current meta is a perfect execution of ideas behind the game – doing dps while actively supporting you team.

Problem is as always with ppl. They don’t want to learn the game, they want to change it. Meta buildcrafters learned the game, put an effort to get the knowledge and share it. The “i want to be a healer” crowd is only whining and crying for more than two years that they’re neglected. Bad news for them – learn the game or change the game.

P.S. nerf zerker, remove zerker, ban everyone with at least one zerker gear piece – nothing is going to change, because out of the limbo new meta will emerge and trust me it won’t be trinity “lf healer” carebear meta
