When i log in there is 50% chance i’ll lag like a kitten. I don’t know why i even bother with this game anymore.
It’s about nerfs and game store… Ok, i couldn’t resist.
People find their fun in different areas and aspect of the game… Some are “achievement hunters” others like collecting skins, minis, valuable items, some like to run dungeons, WvW, PvP, farming gold, standing in lion’s arch and chatting 80% of the time….
If this is for PVE, no big deal. If for sPVP, it’s to give player time to dodge, whatnot. Without the 1s recharge mesmer can interupt/control players almost instantaneously.
It’s a huge dfference in pve.
Yeah, you go ahead and smash your face against your keyboard for money and feel good about it.
In the meantime, I’ll be in Arah, being broke.
Why do people hate so much on poeple farming cof? I agree there are quite some idiots you can meet there, but there are nice people farming too. If you want to farm gold the hard way, fine, no one forces you to do cof if you don’t like it.
It’s interesting each time i see such topic, i pretty much always read same reasons why people left the game. And sadly that’s why the answer is always the same – no, not worth to came back, because you’ll quit again soon for the same reasons.
3335 Hours over the past 9 months. Mind you, quite a bit of that time I’ve been on the forums at the same time. lol
Woah there Vayne, have you ever reboot your computer since gw2 release? hehe
dunno i play pve only
after ele RTL nerfs i switched to phantasm mesmer…my fave alt is going to be skyrim…. if it keeps going like this….
Haha, same here buddy.
Patches are seriously something you shouldn’t be looking forward as a mesmer.
You know, i would be sad, but it’s not like there are any good looking skins… Except maybe shield which i don’t use.
eh wth in few months we’ll be playing lottery with our phantasms…
And a new grandmaster trait will appear – Deadly phantasm – gives phantasm 60% chance to be effective!
And ‘’ Compounding Celerity: Movement speed per active illusion has been increased to 10%, allowing for 30% movement speed when three illusions are active. ’’
That trait is useless, at least in PvE. Even with 30% it won’t be a big deal. We have already pretty good mobility in combat. We need ooc speed.
“Lf4 zerk wars ONLY! Have pro mes already”
or
Epic.
Also: over 3k+ achievement points required
Like what!? Met countless of people having 5k points and they were bad.
It’s like applying for a job as a nurse and employer says “yeah, well you need advanced skills in cooking too”.
Try not to get downed in the first place
Bad comment i know, but we mesmers are all about damage avoidance. That’s what we are good in and we should make use of it.
Yeah, avoidance, you know what should #2 downed skill do? Exactly! Avoid.
That’s my point. And that spot happens to be right next to target 80% of time.
No, it happens to be right next to your target a percentage of times equal to the “bad spot” target area divided by the maximum reachable area, times 100.
What? Why couldn’t they just make it something like staff #2 skill – Phase retreat?
It teleports you to a random spot.
/Close thread
That’s my point. And that spot happens to be right next to target 80% of time.
Who the hell tought that when you’re dying and use #2 skill to teleport RIGHT UNDER THE FREAKING BOSS’S BALLS (target) is a good idea?
I want bugs fixed and classes balanced.
If you’d come back you would quit again in a week for the same reasons you quit first time.
I’m not interested in any explanation why and how numbers don’t work and that bs..
All i know is my izerk could hit for 6k easily before and now its 2k if i’m lucky.
It should be pretty kitten obvious that we all want you to fix the damage issue and not talking once every 2 months about floater issue that i don’t give a kitten at all if damage is not right.
Mine drop from lvl 7 bandit.
You got trolled hard.
I will never play a male Norn. They look hideous. I understand that they’re supposed to be big and badkitten, but they look grotesque to the point where it’s almost comical. Especially when they’re wielding oversized greatswords. And don’t even get me started on when they use the whirling attack on the GS. I know I sound harsh but every time I see a large heavy-armor wearing norn with a humungous greatsword run by me, it ruins my immersion a little. I can’t take them seriously.
Exactly this why i wouldn’t play norn male.
I also wouldn’t play charr because….. well, cat with swords… what? Looks ridiculous really.
Sylvari… i don’t know, it’s like i like and don’t like them at the same time.
Asura are ok
Humans… I wish i would have other cool race to play. I never play human if i have a choice, but sadly in gw2 they are the best choice for me, followed by asura.
20/20/0/0/30 is what you are looking for.
Same here, since dragon bash update. I’m kittening tired of these lag and connection issues that i only have in gw2.
We decided to make further changes to greatword skills, so they wouldn’t feel overpowered in comparison to Phantasmal Berserker.
GREATSWORD:
Spatial surge – this skill now do less damage to your target, but more damage to enemies that you don’t have targeted.
Mind stab – this skill now damage the target if they are hit, if they are not, you take damage instead.
Illusionary wave – this skill will now instead of enemies push your clones for the strategic positioning.
SWORD:
Illusionary leap – chances of your clones’s leap to succeed is improved by 20%
STAFF:
Chaos armor – now has chance on hit to summon white kitten to help you for 15 seconds.
Chaos storm – is now strictly defensive skill; if you cast it on yourself you’ll get random boons, if the enemy step in the circle you get random conditions, while they get random boons.
Utilities:
Null field – now lasts 9 seconds! Has a 50% chance to remove condition every five seconds.
Mantra of distraction – grants you and your foe lag for three seconds.
Traits:
Confounding suggestions : this trait was entirely removed, because it was overpowered even for grandmaster trait section.
Persisting images – phantasms have 20% more health, but they die twice as fast.
Illusionary elesticity – bouncing attacks have unlimited bounces. It bounces between you and foe, until one of you die.
I won’t be surprised if i see any of these in patch.
No wonders it’s so hard to find people for dungeons, except for cof, because if you’re not absolutelly “pro”, you’ll have hard time finding good people and doing dungeons.
I don’t know, there are a lot of people who feel this way. I think if you made it clear you weren’t looking for a speed run or other “elite” group you could find people to go with you.
In fact I’m organising a group for my guild later today specifically for people who haven’t done dungeons before and/or think they would never be let into a group. Sure it might take us longer than usual and we might die a lot but we’ll get it done and then we’ll know how to do better next time. (Or for some people it will be done and they won’t have to bother with it again.)
You’re right. First i just posted on lfg as normal post (no experienced playera, no speedrun checks) and i tought i’m safe from idiots. Guess i was wrong. Then i started posting “lf3m bla bla, casual players” and i got nicer people.
But the point is, it’s still bad for players, especially new or those who are not new but are new to the certain dungeon, to get into the party of idiots and get treated that way… I know a few players that were discouraged to do dungeons because of this.
(edited by serialkicker.5274)
Yep, I’ve met a lot of idiots during p1 farming. Also, in the past week i started to do CoE, which i’ve done it few times before (few months back). I didn’t know any tricks and stuff, but i did very well. So, one player didn’t know he “should” hug the boss (subject alpha), peopled cursed in chat and left. Just like that. No explanation, they rather left and wasted those idk 5 mins into dungeon then explained tactics to him, which would take 30 sec tops. Btw, me and this “rookie” then proceed alone and killed alpha. But you know, it wasn’t done in “pro time” so it doesn’t matter i guess?
No wonders it’s so hard to find people for dungeons, except for cof, because if you’re not absolutelly “pro”, you’ll have hard time finding good people and doing dungeons.

It just feels like something is missing. I used to play a thief for a while, so I thought this would be a good second character for me; but it just feels “off” when i’m using it. I feel like i’m doing it wrong or something. Granted I only got to like lv 5, but just the weapon skills alone feel so different that it’s almost hard for me to grasp. I like the concept of the class, but I don’t understand how to play this properly. How are they at PvE, WvW, and PvP at higher levels?
Ofc it’s different. Or do you want all classes to be the same? And you can’t possibly get the right idea about any of the classes by just leveling to 5.
sigh, you people -_-
I was merely saying I didn’t understand how to play the class as wanted someone to elaborate in it at different phases. again I was only addressing the weapon skills not the entire class. let’s not be “that” guy, if you have nothing nice to say, then just hush. I had a solid grasp on every other class as soon as I picked it up. I’d be able to understand what kind of things I’d be doing with it. I couldn’t grasp it with with mesmer. I only stated my level because someone would obviously ask, not because I level up 5 times and judged the entire class(which I’m not). Only weapon skills, all of which I have. You could’vevsaid something about the various combo fields with the weapon skills or something and that would’ve been great. but no, you want to be “that” guy.I’m asking early so I don’t waste time leveling something I might not like.
I didn’t mean to be a jerk. I’m just saying, thank god all classes feels different.
I’ll be honest, i leveled my mesmer to lvl 60 by crafting. So i don’t know how it feels to lvl up one, but i imagine staff+gs would be a good choice.
First you need to decide how you want to play your mesmer. Then choose weapons.
You should check out some guides and stuff to get an idea of what would be your playstyle.

The mesmer is the only class i rarely swap weapons out. Warrior, guard and necro im constantly changing for different situations (Necro not so much but more than the mesmer). You should be doing it with every class, its a sign of a more experienced player. The same goes for swapping utilities.
It’s not about the need to swap weapons, it’s the annoying process of doing it. You have to first lose agro, which sometimes takes too long for no reason and then you have to open the panel and look for weapons and uquip it… and that can get you killed or you are left behind if you’re not quick to do it.
We should simply have for example F5, F6, F7 and f8 available for weapon sets, so we can just press for example F7 in combat to switch to whatever weapon you have set in that slot.Out of combat*.
If we could swap to any weapon set with keybindings in combat, then we are essentially getting infinite weaponsets (We already have 2 unless playing ele or engi, dont need more). Which is broken. It is a nuisance to swap things out at times. But there are bigger issues the devs should be focusing on. Swapping while out of combat I would be fine with. You could have other armour sets as saved loudouts aswell. This was discussed in the last SotG but the devs plan to only include it in pvp atm. Which is a shame as it would be much more useful in pve even if there are more problems with implementing it there.
So, what exactly would be wrong with “unlimited weapons sets”? Besides it wouldn’t be unlimited, but 4 different weapon sets (in my case i mention F5-F8).
What’s wrong with that. Everything would be the same as now, only we would have four instead of two different weapons sets ready for us to switch between in combat.
It’s not like it would give anyone any advantage (PvE), it would only removed frustration of bringing up your hero panel all the time to drag weapons here and there. It would be totally unfair and ricidulous to balance in pvp and wvw. Not to mention it increase the utility classes superiority over every other class even further, such as mesmer and guardian. Can you imagine an ele with all their weapon combo’s being available? They’d be ridiculously op in pvp and pve. Besides I dont want to be given the option to use everything at all times, it would start to feel more like wow which would be kitten.
I said in PvE. They should really seperate PvE from PvP and WvWvW, because they will never balance classes and skills this way.
It’s not about the need to swap weapons, it’s the annoying process of doing it. We should simply have for example F5, F6, F7 and f8 available for weapon sets, so we can just press for example F7 in combat to switch to whatever weapon you have set in that slot. You make it sound a lot more complicated then it is. First of all, you should know what weapons you need before going into a situation. Trying to switch a weapon mid combat, is a bad idea. Plan on using the weapon you switch to, throughout the whole fight. You shouldn’t have to “look” for the weapon you need, either. Just place your spare weapons at the bottom of your inventory, and they will always be there. Then use your Hero panel instead of your inventory, when you need to switch a weapon. Double clicking will switch weapons automatically, to the weapon set you currently have equipped. And using hot-keys will make opening and closing your Hero panel a lot quicker.
And you make it sound less complicated then it is. Of course i’m not trying to change weapon sets mid combat. I’m talking after combat. Especially in dungeons this is the case. I’ll give you one example, not the best, but this one came on my mind first.
Cof p1, you’re waiting by the totem for your pal to destroy the gate controller. When he’s done you start running ahead to rich final boss. Most of the time you won’t lose aggro until you hide around the corner in “boss room”, even if you didn’t touch or being touched by any mob from the totem to the “hiding” place, while all that distance you have to “run” (more like fast walk), because you have aggro. I want to switch to my focus for swiftness there.
Now, i know this can be avoided by having focus equipped before doing all this, but that’s not the point here. All i’m saying is having more then two available weapons sets at disposal to switch wouldn’t hurt anyone or anything in any way. Would just make play more fluid and fun.
The mesmer is the only class i rarely swap weapons out. Warrior, guard and necro im constantly changing for different situations (Necro not so much but more than the mesmer). You should be doing it with every class, its a sign of a more experienced player. The same goes for swapping utilities.

I know the feeling, dude.
I don’t know if i should be looking forward to this, because it seems devs have a different idea of what is good and necessary then their playerbase. Well, let’s just hope they won’t make things even worse.
I never got any better dye then blue….
In 2014 you’ll be fighting with sticks and then they’ll decide that sticks are op, so they will remove them and you’ll be fighting with bare hands.
Another bug fixing patch is rolled out and still no mention of this issue. It’s a little disappointing when your player base is telling you something is wrong and your response is to cease replying and hope the concerns fade away.
Silverlinings and all, they fixed the tooltip for Veil! I think we can all agree that this was our main concern. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve died due to it then found myself screaming at the tool tip “WHY MUST YOU LIE EVERY TIME!?”.
I don’t give a single white kitten about veil. They can’t be kittening serious with this.
I can’t believe this kitten
This is just like people crying about every class being op in WvW, which leads to nerfs everywhere. Do you people really want them to nerf every single part of the game?
Yes, cof is the easiest dungeon, there must always be easiest and hardest one. You can’t have five or ten identically hard dungeons.
You can skip parts in other dungeons as well and you can probably finish some of them pretty fast as well (AC).
It just happens that warrior and mesmers perfected p1 and so it seems now like very easy path to do.
I had some very good runs with a team of just thieves, eles, guarda, mesmer and we did each run in 8 or less min.
But such groups are not always good and experienced enough, so that’s why people think only wars are good for cof.
What makes you think they will “fix” the limitation? I wish they would tho…
A couple months back a dev mentioned in an interview that they didn’t think they were going to ever fix it.
There was uproar on the forums.
The next day, that same dev posted on the forums saying that the team had actually started working on fixing it that week, and he hadn’t been notified because he was travelling at the time.
We haven’t heard much since, though. I doubt it’s something they’d just forget (seeing how often it gets complained about), so maybe it’s taking some time to fine-tune the fix.
Yeah, they said a lot of things… How many happened?
They are only good at nerfing things as far as i’ve seen… why boost this?
What makes you think they will “fix” the limitation? I wish they would tho…
- Do not remove Mantra of Pain. If you can’t use it, don’t use it. But it barely ever leaves my first utility slot.
- Do not remove Mantras. They’re an awkward playstyle for lots of players, but essential for others.
Personally, I’d also try to run with GS/Staff, but the lack of movement speed makes me use the focus. But it’s not just that. iWarden is an awesome Phantasm (imagine he weren’t dumb as bread), curtain is an awesome utility (for pulling) and but traited for reflecting makes guardians drool at mesmers.
It’s time that the developers separate PvP/WvW zones stronger than before. Rethink every skill and change it accordingly. While Retaliation and Confusion were pretty strong versus players (so very few mobs got them), they should make those stronger against mobs. MoP could receive a +50% dmg buff for PvE. Making GS#3 steal buffs in PvE … the list is endless. And that even before inventing new skills.
Yeah, of course, focus skills are very cool, but so are other skills from other weapons.
With mesmer it’s kinda hard to stick with same weapons for a long time, at least for me. But the thing is sometimes you wanna run gs/staff and there are a lot of parts in dungeons or elsewhere that you could use swiftness, so you gotta wait forever to get out of combat so you can swith to sword/focus to get that swiftness and then switch back to other set, because focus is not always best secondary, since most targets are not static and so it’s kinda easy to waste warden.
And i agree with you on seperating zones definetly. Since according to forums, every class is op in WvWvW and PvP, anet keeps nerfing them to hell and making them useless in PvE.
Mantra of Pain… useless? It’s spammable and can be chained with autos.
As far as i can tell, it’s better to keep autoattacking, instead of wasting my time charging MoP…
As for support builds, i won’t argue, because i haven’t tried it yet and i did read about people liking it. Also, i’m coming from PvE perspective. I guess it has it’s uses in PvP.
I’d like to see mantra that would give swiftness for like 10-15 sec when activated.
Right now there we either have to wield focus or have centaur runes, both of which requires us to change our playstyle…
You could replace it with mantra of pain which is utterly useless.
It’s not quite that easy. Maybe it’s not that much about comparing population and how many people left and how many new players joined. The key to success is to keep players in game. Many of “old” players left the game and even tho new players are coming that’s good for temporary, but on a long run, they might quit as well, when they get bored with all the issues that bothered those who left too. There are not unlimited numbers of new players, so once the waves of newcomers ends and if the game won’t be polished and fun enough by that time, they will also leave and here you go, the game is “dying” – not literally maybe, but some people would say so because population is shrinking.
I don’t care, intended or not. Fix it either way.
To be honest, after so long, i’m kinda giving up izerker ever getting a proper fix to its damage. Maybe just throw in the towel and remove izerker’s damage and improve on its CC. Change/Add cripple with daze/stun/chill, i don’t know. Just rename and remake it into illusionary CC-bot.
No! Fix it!
If people didn’t like this, WoW wouldn’t still have 8.3 million subscribers. That’s a lot of people. In fact, look at the popularity of games like Farmville, which have considerably more players. And that’s pure grind.
I agree this game needs work. I also think that work takes a lot longer than people think it will. Not just because of resources not dedicated to it, but because there are so many things that need attention. LFG tool, well yeah we need that. More viable builds. We need that. Stuff like the builds require mega long term testing, so yeah it takes time. And you can’t really change everything at once because then you open the flood gates. Last month the did some work on pets. They’re better. Not awesome but much better than before. Now we see how rangers do with that change and how it works into everything else before changing the next thing.
There’s plenty of work that needs to be done in this game. But it’s still the new content that keeps people playing.
Sure, i know, that’s a lot of people. I haven’t played WoW myself, but those 8 mio people are probably those who like this playstyle, grinding etc. But there also a lot of people that don’t and those people might played wow or any other mmo and quit and now they tought, well finally gw2 here, something “different” from other mmos, like it was advertised… And… yeah it different as far as i can tell, but like i said, there’s a lot to be done.
Some of the bugs (especailly skill bugs) are here since release and i can’t say this for all, but some of those are game breaking bugs for me. If i want to play certain class and i can’t properly because 1 out of 5 skill on my weapon is broken/useless/bugged then that’s a huge deal. 1/5 of my skills is of no use. Now if i want to play this class i need to find another build which i might not like. And then when i finally get new gear set, they break that too. Because they can’t fix something without breaking something else it seems.
I think we can agree that bugs are one of the biggest and most annoying issues in gaming and a lot of people quit games because of it. If people are playing a buggy game, that means they must like that game, otherwise they wouldn’t bother. But not everyone can’t and won’t wait forever for fixes.
Just by fixing and balancing the game, they would vastly improve fun factor of the game. Becuase right now, most people run the same builds, same weapons, doing same stuff…
Vayne of course the playerbase is devived, because all mmos are the same. They are made to suck money from people as much as possible. I’m fairly new to mmos, but i’ve tried bunch of them and i’ve read a lot about them and they are all prety much the same. The only difference is graphic and combat system. Quest system is always, go talk to this guys, so he can tell you to go talk to the other guys, so that guy can give you a mission to kill few monsters and then come back with the loot. And that’s it. Whole game is a big grind. You grind mainly for higher level gear so you can kill higher level monsters.
Some players enjoy that, they enjoy grinding, but a lot of players will get bored in a week or two. That’s why a big chunk of playerbase is switching from game to game. Try one, meh same kitten as one before, let’s try that new one, might be something new, meh same kitten, let’s try next one…
Gw2 is not like other mmos, but it definetly lacks content and is in a need of some fixes and balancement.
