Prismatic Understanding – a grandmaster Chaos trait that’s pretty popular for sPvP builds. I find it fun in open world PvE as well.
Oh duh lol, I knew that one but I couldn’t recall it when I saw the abbr. Thanks for the info.
I use Centaur runes + mirror and Signet of Midnight on my mesmer with a power PU build (Full boon duration tree). Even before they added Swiftness to PU, I was achieving 1-2 minutes.
Sorry if it’s a dumb question but, what do you mean with PU?
But yeah, Mesmers are sadly very much the slowest class, without resorting to a dedicated runeset, or allies.
Hehe, that’s what I was talking about. If not resorting to runes and stuff it’s hard for mesmers to get a decent swiftness duration.
First of all, welcome And yes, it was one of the [] changes introduced with September Feature Pack. As it was mentioned, you won’t see those info about map completion until you reach certain level.
My sluggish mesmer with their TC feels envy hearing that :P
Mesmers have almost no source of swiftness and the only one available that doesn’t require any additional upgrades isn’t reliable, it only provide 7 secs and never stack.
+1 for a source of longer swiftness.
There’s already a long thread about this issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Inventory-Window-changing-size-alone
Try going the “eye” icon at bottom left and make sure all your choices are enabled.
It has an option to show world completion there.
That’s not needed, the case here is related to the changes done for NPE. Those options you mentioned would only hide/show the icons spread around the map, but it wouldn’t hide the whole panel at left. If that panel isn’t shown it’s because of a (stupid) feature of NPE, it’s locked until you reach a certain level.
The story wasn’t supposed to be the “main quest line”. Events were supposed to be the main offering. Anet said more than once leading up to the launch of the game.
But also the story got lost in the way it was broken up. Story arcs couldn’t be completed in short succession and if you didn’t have a memory for that type of thing, plot and character got lost as well.
Oh yeah? I tell you that one of the things that got me hooked in this game was more the personal story than the events. If they weren’t meant to be the “main” quest line, what’s the purpose then? What would the game be without story?
I can see what you mean with what happens when story ends, but this wouldn’t be a reason to leave. There are a lot of other things to do beside personal story. If one has ended their story, they can go and try to explore areas they haven’t gone yet. There are a lot of “corners” in the game that more than half of the players haven’t seen yet. I tell it based on my own, I have found some interesting areas while seeking for explorer achievements that I wouldn’t never imagine they exist, and I did that months after I got my char to lvl 80 and with personal story almost done.
Fact is: no matter what they do to try getting people hooked and to stay long, they won’t stay “forever”. At a point people will leave, as well others will come. Saying that personal story or events or whatever were meant to get people to stay longer is useless. People are different and what could keep me playing for years couldn’t keep you for a few hours, per example.
And a main thing is: people want to play games as they want, forcing players to do things the way they do think to be better isn’t going to work. Thing is: give player a choice, let they play the game as they want.
Even though the way it was before was faulty and couldn’t work in some aspects it gave players more freedom of choice than it gives now.
is there a reason to so heavily restrict access in the first place.
With the (unneeded) changes for the New Players Experience you won’t see things related to world completion until you reach a certain level.
Do you get a “gearing” sound when trying to use it and nothing happens? Probably that’s it, that item isn’t usable when at Mists. Try to go to another map, as mentioned before, and try it again. Some items aren’t usable while on PvP or WvvW or even inside instances.
I have to say I fail to see what the logic behind them removing the very step of personal story where you retrieve said Orb.
And I fail to see why messing up with something that wasn’t broken after all. I can’t see what was wrong with the story before, but I can see a lot of wrong stuff with how it is now…
Another interesting fact: have devs and everyone noted the amount of thread complaining about a “map completion bug” where people thinks the lack of map completion info is a bug? Doesn’t it sound that something isn’t working well? Lack of information or preventing people to get that info is totally opposite to learning.
(edited by shadow.6174)
Yes, with the [dumb :P] NPE (New Players Experience) system you won’t see anything about map completing until you reach certain level, although as already said they still will count toward completion if you discover them.
I have numerous toons at lv 80 and numerous toons that were recently started prior to the September release. I really need an option to skip any tutorial in the New Player Experience as I don’t need any tutorial after playing this game for 2 years. I am exclusively a PvE player. I have no desire to play this game again until you fix this New Player Experience/Personal Story Breaks, let alone all the other skill related issues. Please fix quickly. I’m keeping an eye on the updates as they come out. I want to play but I want the game to be great again. And no, its not great right now.
(highlight was mine) Yeah, good point. As several others has stated NPE currently is acting upon each new character and not each new player.
Can you please tell us if it is a bug that right after the patch…
1) as a necro you lose your summoned minions as soon as you are downleveled
2) as a mesmer you lose your third mantra charge (when traited harmonious mantra) as soon as you are downleveled
………………………….?Has this been fixed?
- is now fixed. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Minions-suddenly-die-moving-between-areas/4456936
- still needs some confirmation.
Yes I just checked it and it seems to be fixed xD (although part of my feet is still hidden, but just a minor part now)
Have you applied any changes to your armor? (Transmutations OR dyes) As soon as you click APPLY, your mini goes bye-bye.
I have just tested it and it seems to be fixed after 9/30’s patch.
With the recent (unneeded) changes vista icons won’t appear until you reach a certain level. What’s your level?
Just now I realized a thing. It wouldn’t matter which one of them would be sold if they are “identical” (they are the same after all). But if the second one also shows up to sell after the first is sold, then this is a huge issue. :P
Hmm, the root cause could be somewhat related to this maybe https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Change-skills-tab-appears-in-combat
Hey, I want to personally thank you for tracking down that it was something with your character. I noticed an issue with a map you were in and literally minutes later someone pointed me to your post. (sip)
Thanks again,
-Bill
Ah now it makes some sense how it would be related to guilds. Thanks for the explanation and thanks to all devs who worked on smashing that bug . Also Seka deserves a good reward and big thanks for helping to find it. Yes, just a Heroic Chest doesn’t do it fair for finding and having to deal with such bad bug xD. *cheers*
Hey guys, let’s try to not derail from the subject and avoid direct conflicts between each other. Let’s keep it constructive and nice for both or all sides.
Well, good to hear they gave some compensation, even though it could be not a big thing. Now I’m even curious to know what was the issue. Guild related issue? If so I suppose that one of your chars were representing a guild while your others weren’t? I can’t understand how it would be guild related, but well, I don’t know how things are on backstage. Glad to see you are back at least.
Lol guys, I believe their (his/her :P) account was just put in hold until they figure out what’s going on. No reason for protesting against the suspension or what else. They will be back so soon the investigation is done and the issue known.
I am aware of the wiki guide, but is it correct? I mean is what we have now final? Are all the things on that guide implemented as Anet designed? Is that list definitive? Is there anything on that list that is part of the “bugs, miscommunications and improper implementation” we were told about? We were specifically asked to wait until things were fixed before judging the NPE. Is now the time?
Ah I get what you mean. Well, from what I heard so far none has told what of that list is really working as intended or what not. The only thing told so far was like you said: “bugs, miscommunications and improper implementation”, no further details given like “skill X is intended to unlock at level Y but it’s unlocking later (or before)”.
Also, this thread was created by a dev asking for feedback and such, then I believe it’s the time yes.
There is the AoE loot hotkey that can be bind to a key (I usually have it bind to G). It won’t autoloot for you (I have tried that autoloot option but I felt it falied retrieving loot at times) but it will loot everything within a range. With it you won’t need to approach each mob in order to loot, it will grab from all mobs nearby (range is unknown for me). However, it doesn’t apply to in world chests like those from bosses. For those you still will need to approach the chest and hit use key (F). Maybe you could use it to wipe any loot lying around the chest before you can open it.
Another patch and nothing on notes about mesmers…
Not sure if it’s what you are asking for, but here is a list of what each level gives now: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Leveling_rewards
What actually bothers him most is that the game seems really open while it actually is gated. What did I do when I first got online? I tried everything and had my fun that way! Now? People can’t do what they want but only what they are told.
I think it just summarize how I and several other feels about some of the changes. teaching isn’t about hand-holding all time, but people also needs some freedom to do things like they want. People needs to be given all info they need about “how” to do stuff, but not to be told “when” they are “allowed” do them.
I think it is more widespread than 1 person. That, or there are a myriad of odd things going on (probably a combination). Like the issues recently where you hit skills and they just don’t even try to activate.
True, I have noted recently that my skills keep failing to trigger, even those with no cast time at all.
And yeah, as a programmer and such I’m also curious to know what could have caused that, but surely they won’t release any info or they would do only when it’s 120% fixed.
I think at the very least she should get a free character name change to Destroyer of Worlds
We just found Neo from the Matrix.
Just loled at these and +1 to them xD
I have had a lvl 80 char for months and I was at the story step of lvl 79 Conscript the Dead Ships before patch. So soon the patch came out I noted something were missing from Story Journal. The HUD on top says my next step is now lvl 80 and points properly to a place on world. However, my Story Journal doesn’t show any step as “In progress” or something, it only shows all steps completed up to chapter 7. The last step it shows is Liberating Apatia on chapter 7, even though I’m almost sure it wasn’t the last thing I did before patch (maybe that’s where the swap happened).
To finish, why messing with something that wasn’t broken? Now I’m really confused about my story -_-, I don’t know what I did last neither can retrieve more details about my previous steps. Just now I was beginning to enjoy venturing into Orr and such…
No problem, thanks to the “working” search feature threads can be easily missed. :P (sarcasm mode off)
Pulling items from the topmost bags would be a normal behavior, but if it’s in a invisible bag they should be ignored as if they didn’t exist at all, this last is the bug.
I propose that if it is that important, the camera still starts to spin if the character is dead. But it should stop spinning and not restart spinning, once the player moves the camera himself and actively.
In fact, it was the behavior before September Feature Pack. The camera would start spinning slowly so soon you are defeated, but a single click anywhere or rotating it yourself would make it stop spinning and wouldn’t go back spinning again.
About the camera zooming in when downed, I think it makes sense having it that way. In downed state your skills are limited and then your field of view would be shortened. In downed state you would worry about those on your throat instead those steps away from you (if you get what I mean). But also, I wouldn’t be against changing it to zoom out freely and such.
They should also kind of make it clear when your next personal story missions will unlock.
And this is one of the issues (I even noted it on my lvl 80 that had PS completed yet, I felt something was lacking), at certain stages there’s not anything telling you what’s next until you reach the required level. As I have stated before it just gives the feeling of “it’s over?”.
Hmm? I must have thought you meant “swap weapon” effects happening on bundles. Such as getting swiftness when I pick up a “bone” bundle weapon.
Oh? I never heard about that, sounds like some bug or something.. if my slow mesmer would only knew that.. goodbye unreliable TC… :P just joking.
The other reason I think people are saying it feels like there’s nothing to do is because it’s not immediately obvious there IS a personal story when you first start out. I just finished the last available story block (;evel 60) on my new alt and saw that the green personal story text disappeared from my screen entirely. There is no mention of “Forging the Pact (unlocks at level 70)” or anything. I’m not sure if that is standard behavior, but that might be why people are feeling like there’s nothing to do and no direction at the beginning.
That’s something I have mentioned before. If it’s going to be locked or something, at least give some hint or info that they are still there but unavailable. Like in my case, I’m lvl 80 but my story is at lvl 79. The Hero panel doesn’t show what’s the next step, it only shows the completed ones. If it wasn’t for the UI at the top showing me it I wouldn’t have how to tell if I had something next, my first impression would be “it’s over”.
I’m simply saying that as a thing to complain about, it’s pretty low on my list. It affects people’s games for a good five minutes and that’s about it.
The biggest issue I have with it is that it sets a silly tone for a game that was previously fairly serious. But then I had the same problem with the lot of the stuff in the game. It’s hardly possible to think of this game as serious and dark when I’m sandwhiched between a guy with a quaggan backpack and another with a hylek hoodie.
Yes, I see what you mean. These things aren’t a big deal like several other bad changes regarding NPE. And yeah, it sounds like with NPE the game lost even more its seriously, even though it already was loosing some as you said.
I agree with that. But why is everyone ignoring the fact that since launch there’s been an event in Diessa Plateau where you have to dress up on a cow suit to teach cows how to be cows?
Lol, true I had forgotten about that one. But well, even though the game already had silly stuff the point is they made more good things on stupidly silly things. The problem isn’t having silly stuff, some of them can be fun at times, but it’s the reason behind using them.
The event at Diessa Plateau was a “random” one that wouldn’t have much to do with leveling process. But using a silly stuff as reason for “teaching” people and using it because they suppose people aren’t “smart enough” to deal with “complex” stuff, yes this is the issue. It would be like using silly cartoons to teach numbering to a 15 years old student in elementary school just because you “suppose” they aren’t able to understand it yet.
O.O whaa? Invisible bags shouldn’t appear in TP at all, even more the items inside it. That’s a huge issue indeed.
what’s more frustrating than having to create a new char and maybe using scrolls to lvl it up is having some hard time getting to the place where the goggle is (some places are hard to reach of the most of ppl) and then figure out that you can’t use it at all. >.<
Anyway, let’s put it this way: entertaining a cow isn’t logical in anywhere in universe, either RL or in game. A cow is hungry and what you do is dance in front it? C’mon, that’s non-sense. And again, what’s the difficulty in handling a bundle? Anyone curious enough could quickly figure out what to do with it and how to get rid of it. It’s even funny they took away bundles from starter hearts while I still see random bundles around in some starter areas (and with it I mean lower than lvl 5 areas)…
5. " I’m bored, I’m only level 6 and I have nothing left to do… "
That’s curious how ppl usually stops always at lvl 6…
So I finally make it to the top of Not So Secret to get my last dive done and hit this bug. Mind you this is a lvl 80 with 1310 hours over the last 586 days (and one of 6 level 80s).
What a sorry piece of execution – to break something as simple as diving goggles. Anet should be refunding those of us who have to buy another character slot, just to use a level 20 scroll, just to unlock something that was unlocked 2 years ago!
kitten poor Anet. Really, kitten poor.
Yeah, even though I have a few scrolls and even some free character slots I’m not going to do this “workaround” (yes, that’s NOT a fix, it’s a unneeded workaround), not going to spend time creating a char neither wasting scrolls just to get something that I already should be allowed to do (that never should be blocked in first place).
Yes, that was a (unneeded) change they did for NPE (New Players Experience) and as said above you won’t see it until you reach a certain level.
Good to see a red post around here. Thanks for replying and explaining.
Yes it already has been reported before. I looked like it was fixed but now it’s worse again: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Stuck-in-the-map-or-seeing-map-art-issues/3054934
If you thought of them like any normal rpg or other single player game they were very easy, because even if you died you’d just go back to a checkpoint and get to start again. There was no lasting consequence for death (unless you borked so much your armor all broke, but I’ve never heard of this). If you were hellbent on doing the story and not a very strong player/had a lot of disadvantages, you still could.
Yes, I just said it was “somewhat hard”, not that they weren’t doable. I have even tried it myself a few times on past, even after failing several times I could still complete it (with no much loss, maybe 2 or 3 armor piece broken only). So, harder but doable.
I can’t even help anyone get out of down till a certain level. I can’t even be downed until a certain level.
Wait, what? Low level players can’t revive or help downed people anymore? O.O If so, I hadn’t heard or seen about it so far.
I don’t even feel motivated to play my mid-level characters because of this.
Yeah, I feel like that too and I even have 2 low level alts that I have put in hold because of that.
(edited by shadow.6174)
But I am thinking that instead of locking the story missions, why not just make them more difficult to accomplish if you are not at the ideal level much like before the patch?
Even before patch story steps already was a somewhat hard to complete if you were lower level than the step.
