I was going to post on that thread but since it’s closed now… I just wanted to express I disagree with the post made by Gaile Gray at the end. I have came through that request while doing the new LS, a popup showed asking me if I would accept my friend’s progress.

From what I saw that question is easily missed and misread, the text is written like those tiny contract clauses and hardly seen if you don’t look closely. Also, it’s completely non-sense to put you on another storyline just to keep you with a friend. If I want to help them in their storyline I should be able to choose doing so whenever THEY invite me to do so and not putting me in their same storyline just because I was part of it once. For the current LS it’s a good thing since we both would have the same storyline, but it’s non-sense in PS as the storylines are different in the most of cases.

Just look how many complaints about this “feature” was already reported. Doesn’t it ring a warning that something needs to be rethought and the feature isn’t being so much user friendly as it should?

I had exactly the same issue and I noted it may be exactly the same on your case. I see you use ADP and I found out that one of its filters cause that pages to appear blank. Check if you have Fanboy’s Annoyance list on your filters and turn it off then reload the page. I believe it will solve the issue (now I just need to figure out which specific line of that filter causes it). I believe it’s related to that social widgets used in that page, somehow it’s tied to the page layout that’s broken by that filter then.

Edit: I found out the “culprit”. In Fanboy’s Annoyance List there is a rule “###backtotop” that causes the layout to break. Disable that rule alone if you want to keep the filter or disable the whole list. This would be just a workaround only, the page would need some rework I think.

If you want to see how much interaction between players and devs is in this game I would suggest you to take a look in Game Bugs forum, that one is constantly updated and with new threads, some of them even has responses from devs very often. Also, Living Story related threads are very active too.

What likely happened is that a thread was deleted, and all posts in it removed.

Yes, some time ago I got a similar PM and then I replied to it asking about what thread it was referring to and someone from support told me that was from a deleted thread. They told me there wasn’t wrong with my post though. Their exact response was: “The thread was removed, but your post wasn’t disruptive or bad. It was just a notification to let you know why the thread was removed.” Hehe I even suggested it would be good to have a better wording as it made me feel puzzled.

I’m sure if was already reported before. Also, I’m not sure if it’s a bug or working as intended but in case it’s the later I’ll leave it as suggestion: when leaving a party all the party chat disappears.

It makes things hard to report incidents or something as happened to me recently. I was in a party with someone as they requested a help with their story and then after that they invited me to roleplay. I accepted it but mins later I was disrespected and also the pervert had trespassed limits. Then I immediately left party and teleported away. My only option was report them for Verbal Abuse and it was when I saw the party chat had gone. I couldn’t even take a snapshot of the chat as I had no time for it.

If it’s working as intended I would request it to be changed to keep party chat, at least for a while or until you join another party. In this case, if an abuse happens it would be easier to save it for later.

Another issue is if your party mate disconnect for a long time and the party is disbanded. All the previous conversation just gone.

There is a buy-back feature in game, but it’s for lower or tradeable items and only done through the vendor you sold to (selling an item to a merchant and then buying it back). I think a similar feature would be nice, if you regret purchasing an item from a vendor you could sell it back, maybe with some currency loss but at least you would be able to. If it would be required to be done only through the vendor where it was bought from and only for a certain time (maybe only during the current game session) I don’t see how it could be abused or something or which harm it could cause to economy and such.

I noticed that each whisper, which seemed identical, had a little 5 character code at the end. Said code was different for each whisper.

Good point, I also had noted that some time ago. And yes, I also think that chat suppression could be removed for home instances at least, where usually you are the only one inside, or together with party members that were invited to enter too, so no harm would be intended there.

Yeah, a lot was promised on last Feature Patch but only a few was delivered, even worse it was which new ones were introduced later… I still have hopes at least some of those bugs will be smashed and some QoL annoyances removed, but I’m not all excited about it actually, just trying to keep realistic so I don’t get big frustrations later. Still looking forward to see what’s coming regarding this though.

Oh and please remove that swiftness limitation on Temporal Curtain (or find a better alternative), it sux being the slowest in a group :P

Yeah I have been going through this issue constantly, Windows 32 bits here. I tell you that even lowering your graphic settings don’t help that much, it just gives you some more time of game play (it will take more time to reach the heap or memory limit) and the crash will happen at some point, mainly if you have other apps running in background. Usually I have a browser and Skype opened while I play and even so a crash due Heap usually happens after some time. The only “solution” is upgrading it to 64 bits then you can have more than around 3,25 GB or of total RAM on your system.

The minimum requirement is 2 GB RAM, Windows 7 requires around 1 GB to work in normal conditions (mainly if you use Aero), what leave us with less than or around 1 GB free for other apps in a 32 bits environment. Then there would have a struggle between the game, the system and other apps and the final result is obviously a crash of the memory hungry one (the game) :P.

I’m sorry for those that had trouble with it, I hadn’t gone through this issue myself but after reading about it I just recalled an advice that’s used when you lose files on your HD: “if something that should be somewhere isn’t there anymore, STOP everything and DON’T touch anything” :P Joking aside, let’s put it as a lesson for everyone (and myself too): if something changes unexpectedly, don’t do anything with it. Again, that’s sad to hear a lot went in troubles due a bug.

What I do frequently encounter is the Inventory open when I log onto a character. No size change, though.

Yes, that was one of the things I noted in my tests:

  • #1: While I was doing some tests I noted that if parts of the window would be hover certain areas the window would move to a certain spot after each log on. Also in these cases the window would open by itself after log on.

Or you can put armor on him that covers up everything and never see the glow again. ^^

Hehe, although it would depend on the armor. Cultural armors do have glow parts too. I have a sylvari with cultural armor and parts of it glows at night too.

I close the inventory, and some seconds later I re-open it, finding it 1 column smaller.

I believe that what happened in your case was something like I described before:

A side note: putting the window in a way that more than half of the achievement UI or mini-map gets covered (but no parts of it gets off-screen) and then closing and reopening the window causes the window to shrink to its minimal size (4 slots wide) as if it went partially off-screen.

Just that in my case it was reduced to its minimal size, but I believe you triggered the same behavior that made it for me.

Ah ok now I got it. I see there are 2 types of TP agent: Personal Black Lion Trader Express and Trading Post Express.
I had never seen the first so I thought about the second. Yes, even with Personal Golem Banker, if it’s personal it shouldn’t be visible to anyone else but you. The only ones that should show up on map are the shareable ones (like Trading Post Express).

If however you started evolving the Pet Seed into an exotic Pet Seedling, know that you won’t be able to go back to the previous crafting process as you’ve already started crafting Mawdrey. As you won’t be able to craft the Cultivated Vine during this process, we’ll work on a way to unlock that specific skin for you in a future update.

There are important differences between these two processes as they lead to different back items (Mysterious Vine or Mawdrey), and the only way to go from one to the other is if you obtained the Mysterious Vine an then evolve it into Mawdrey. We will not issue refunds for any of the items involved in these crafting processes. Note that you can still obtain a Mysterious Seed by completing The Dragon’s Reach: Part 1 story via the Story Journal on any of your characters, since this item is account bound.

What NPC do you mean? The only “personal” NPC I have seen is a “personal golem banker” and in this case yes, that one would make sense to be hidden or not show a supposed interaction with it. I can’t recall about a Personal TP agent and the only one I know is shareable with other players, then why it shows on map and such.

Non of the patch that claimed it was fixed fixed it.

There aren’t any claiming of a patch which fixed it. A similar issue occurred before on last January and was fixed weeks later. Now this issue is back and there wasn’t any fix or claim about a fix since.

I see you are inside an instance and just out of curiosity does it happen only inside it or anywhere in game? Maybe you could try to repair your game, follow the info at https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client in case you don’t know how. I don’t think it’s an issue related to graphic card or stuff as I can see the rest of the UI with their proper colors (like story progress UI is green). Good luck.

Yeah I understand, although I have "resurrected" threads older than 1 month old. I just think that things like bumping it over and over within a short period it’s what isn’t allowed, bringing back old threads that are still valid doesn’t seems to be an issue. *shrugs* Anyway, yes that issue still persists and it’s annoying.

This way same curtain / several curtains won’t stack, but you’ll still be able to get swiftness if you have it already form another source. This new effect should not prevent swiftness from other sources though, only from curtain, or it will make things even worse.

This is the point! I understand why it wouldn’t allow you to get a stack of it by going forth and back through it, but why deny it when you already have some from a different source? Or why deny swiftness from other sources when you already have it from TC? It doesn’t make any sense and makes mesmer sux when it comes to mobility. Just deny stack if it comes from your own TC more than once, but allow it if it comes from a different source. Missing swiftness when you use TC just 1 sec or less before its cooldown ends sux big time.

I believe it’s not hard to coding it as your buffs already “knows” what source they came from (hovering it shows the source).

Ah ok I got it. I think I just missed the fear icon as I was too focused on ground so I just saw orange circles, I couldn’t see their difference (except their size of course).

I always facepalm when seeing posts like that as it reminds me of myself doing that mistake. I was like “wth my dyes keep changing here?”. Lol, it took me weeks to realize the color was related to my team and then I recalled that option lol. And don’t feel bad, I have seen others doing that mistake too.

The large orange field is likely the hammer attack. This can be avoided by dodging or not fighting in front of the statue on that half of the room. Fear circles are much small at a radius of maybe 600 or so.

Hehe not my mistake then as I can’t recall seeing any other mark than that huge orange field. Or I just missed them for some reason.

My fault, I was mistaken what moment caused fear. I was thinking the huge orange circle caused other effects than fear. But yes, at times it doesn’t show up in time for you to take an action anyhow, not that reliable indeed.

And fear? Please, if you can’t even avoid a static circle on the ground, then I’m afraid there is no hope for you.

I wasn’t going to comment so much anymore but this I couldn’t avoid… What circle on ground? Please tell when a circle showed up on ground before being buffed with fear because I never saw any. Also, relying on ground marks it’s faulty as at times the game doesn’t render it properly in time for you to be able to see it (don’t tell me it’s poor graphics because it happens with any graphic settings). I can’t count how many times in game I was hit for several conditions for then later see the mark on ground.

Implying you actually have to complete this episode. If you want lore without challenge, read the wiki, ask those who already did it, watch youtube, etc.

Oh yeah? If it was the case I wouldn’t even be playing games. I didn’t say I want it without challenge, a bit of challenge is always good but being required to go through a overwhelming and too frustrating part in order to progress in the story may make someone just give it up and go to seek other challenges. Some people (like me) gets easily overwhelmed when too much happens at once and this is the case with this part, you have to watch over too many things at once.

The main complaint is how obnoxious the mechanics are. Not the difficulty level.

Even if you get downed, the NPCs are surprisingly less useless in LS and can actually revive you.

At least this is what I think nice about this LS, the NPCs seems to be more active and helpful in some parts. I was even healed by Rox twice during this fight.

By the way, my build is usually focused on “staying alive” than “direct attack” and I’m more ranged usually and I get easily overwhelmed, so yeah it was just too frustrating for me.

Yes if it was meant to be a group thing. Since it’s an instance it’s not that clear you would need a group before you try it a first time.

Also not everyone does or can use any third party tool during their game play, it should be a “requirement”-like thing.

Again it depends on who is doing it, no one is equal. I was helping a friend to do it and we took almost 1 hour and gave up after being downed 2 or 3 times and seeing the statue go from 70% health to 100% again.

To finish, yes that’s just the point. It needs some more balancing to fit the most of types of players. Not everyone wants or can spend a lot of time finding their way through a fight just to progress the story. Give hard contents for those who really want hard content. Don’t make it a requirement for everyone.

(First of all, when I started writing this I didn’t realize it was 4 pages long, so it was based on the 1st page only lol [Then I may have missed some replies], but it tells my thoughts about it and my reaction toward some opinions out there. That was my longest post here so far lol)

I can’t say more than I utterly agree with the OP. That fight is way overwhelming and overpowered! There’s not challenge on being knocked down every sec and then not being able to do a single thing while you must “babysit” a mender to prevent it to reach the statue while watching over a stupid floating balls that take half of your health in one hit! Ah, imagine then when 2 of those balls hit you… INSTANT downed state!

I don’t know others but I don’t get any fun neither see it challenging on being downed or knocked down each f*** second! I felt very overwhelmed on it even while helping a friend, I can’t even imagine how frustrating it is when soloing then. :S A fight like that would work nicely if it was a group thing on open world, NOT an instanced and supposedly solo thing!

Hey, no one is equal and no one has the same skills, also remember that a lot of things can affect your gameplay plus adding to it that some professions (mesmers mainly) has a lot of bugs with skills making them useless crap. It’s not because a few people can manage a stupidly hard boss that everyone else should be able too. There’s no balance on doing this. The game should have a balance between hardcore or highly skilled players and those casual or averagely skilled players. It’s a community game, don’t think only on your own skills.

Not exactly, I use Sword and Focus on my mesmer and it wasn’t that easy. It helped me a lot to prevent menders but when it reached the middle of that room and other ghosts began to get in any other skills could help.

Also just to add that I agree with DoctorOverlord.8620, challenging and fun content makes you want more and try again when you fail (I have even died several and several times in a row while doing some world bosses and that always made me wanting to rally and go on rampage against them [I even got 80% of armor damage once lol]), but there’s not fun or challenge when you got so much frustration that your only thinking is to log off and do something else.

Out of nowhere, the game opens up the world map, my guild tab, my invo, uses all of my offhands and heal skill, opens the party drop down menu and friends list, uses both of my dodges, and pops up with the error message “The e-mail address you entered was not found”.

Wow, really weird. It sounds like “someone” is pressing all keys on keyboard at once (although I can’t imagine where the error message about email would come from). O.o

Agreed. The lack of a properly working search feature makes things hard to report and follow up, also creates a lot of threads with the same subject. Bad for we users but also bad for devs and moderators too.

That is a lot of things to test, and some interesting conclusions, but I still think it is more complicated than that[…] Biggest problem is recreating it to study it.

Yup, even after “figuring out” that whole thing it wasn’t even so conclusive. I’m aware the issue may be living deeper than that but at least I think it could bring up some light on it or a path to follow, who knows..

I hadn’t much patience either, it was a repetitive thing. I did that while I was bored lol.
