Contested WP moving you to unmapped WP

Well, technically it’s working properly. It says “if that waypoint is contested in the destination map copy, the player will be redirected to the nearest uncontested waypoint”. It doesn’t say if the “nearest uncontested waypoint” have necessarily to be a discovered one. However, if it’s intended to happen or not only devs could tell.

A side note and funny fact: once I tried to go to a waypoint on Southsun Cove (one at southeast but I can’t recall the name) and it was contested when I arrived, but the weird part was the game took me to the camp at west, where there’s not any waypoint. I landed at a point of interest instead at a waypoint. Hmm, now speaking of this I realize it could have been a bug…

Ok, so here is the answer I was wondering about. It just makes me “facepalm” to how bad developed this feature is. Luckily I don’t own any guild and I don’t plan to create any one at any time soon. Good luck to guild leaders out there and I hope you don’t fall by a mistake like these then.

Yes, in fact I couldn’t say so much as I didn’t create any guild neither I am leader of any. But, if really there is an “auto promote” in case of the current leader is inactive for a long time, it really would make sense, it’s just a understandable cleanup method.

However, giving away the leadership position to a random member automatically when the current leader demote themselves or something else happens… sorry but it sounds completely stupid for me. It’s like a company’s president would go out on streets and toss away a certificate that ensures the company’s ownership, whoever would get it would become the company’s owner. That’s the point I was trying to bring up. For me it simply sounds like a bad-planned and faulty system that relies on someone’s goodwill to not become evil and take over a guild that was accidentally given to them.

Again, an auto-cleanup system that removes inactive members would sound fine. But causing people to lose completely their privileges due a mistake doesn’t look good.

As I said, I would love to see some official declaration on this subject, if you can provide the links.

Yes, I also would love to hear officially some clarification on this subject.

If it is how it’s intended to work, it’s a completely stupid feature! Obviously a guild always must have a leader and then the creator shouldn’t never been able to demote themselves.

This does depend on whoever has the permissions currently agreeing – if they refuse to promote you back up Anet will not be able to help, they don’t get involved in guild issues like this.

This is the reason for saying that’s stupid. Because of that someone else can simply take advantage from someone else’s mistake and cause grief by taking over the guild. Not even to say what a person could be able to do when they “accidentally” earns more power over a guild, even worse is seeing the former guild leader and creator being required to ask and beg for having their power back.

If the current leader needs/wants to leave or be demoted, they should to promote someone else themselves first and then they would be able to demote themselves. Picking up someone else to be the new leader randomly is a dangerous move, there is the risk of the “supposed” new leader start to do the things mentioned above and such.

I really hope this is a bug and not intentioned, also I hope that what I said above never would happen to anyone. But well, here is the warning.

No, the issue is still happening and I don’t think it’s individualized one. Every time I log in or switch maps my inventory window is still reduced by 1 column. Very annoying.

Just out of curiosity. Even though it could or couldn’t be a bug, why did you wait until it accumulated +10 pop-us before opening them? Renown heart isn’t like reward from bosses and stuff where you barely have time to open them. You hardly would take less than 2 or 3 minutes between each renown heart.

I wonder what cause some people to have issues with the TP, and others not. I have no issue whatsoever with selling items. Maybe I don’t sell the right kinds of items to cause the bug, or I don’t sell fast enough?

Yes I also wonder what people does to cause the issues, maybe selling too fast indeed. I have been able to sell around 10, 20 or more items in a row without any problem, however I’m used to wait for the “OK” button to show up before switching items (yes, I don’t even click OK but I got straight to the next item). I have very very rarely seen the “error attempting to sell” message for months now. Maybe you guys need to bear about the system and be more patient :P

But then, if it’s a security feature I’m sure they won’t change it so soon and people would need to get used to it instead to try rushing the system. :P

And the saga of the nosey Moas keeps going on… :P Also last night at pavilion I had two Flame Legion mobs just in front me and during an attack I realized I wasn’t doing damage to the one just a few steps from me, it was then I saw I was shooting at the one behind it that was almost out of range but straight in line in front me :S

Yes, about the animation when healing it may be due Animation setting being low too. If you can take a screenshoot of it and of your settings so we could be sure if it’s the case.

I don’t think blinking would solve this.. it’s by far more than a simple glitch that a skill could solve. Really weird issue, and I noted your weapon changed every time you jumped. It doesn’t seem to be lag or something as the game could catch up with your party but not with enemies. Only the devs could tell for sure what happened :S

Just for info: items on special bags like invisible bags, equipment bags, crafter bags etc won’t be affected by the Compact option. Items on Invisible bags won’t show up in Trading Post and vendors, neither will show a Sell in Trading Post option when right clicking it. However, no matter what’s the order of the bags on your inventory, if an item doesn’t fit a specific bag (armor and weapons go to equipment bag, gathering items to crafter bags etc) the item will go to the first bag with available slot. Per example, if an invisible bag is in the first inventory slot and has available slot, some junk items or other can end in it, what causes some junk not being sold at vendors and such.

Not me, I have played that part some time ago and I rarely had a crash (yes I crashed a few times but at very random moments, even out of story so it’s not related). Therefore I don’t think there is a bug specifically in the story instance that would cause a crash, although I played it before 2 or 3 patches ago.

Not fully fixed (or maybe just glitch yet). On Friend list some players have their location still as Unknown, even when they just logged off. On Guild panel some players still have Unknown on Last Online (I wonder this is as it was supposed to appear for those that haven’t logged on in a while, but I thought about report it anyhow).

Lol, probably 12 of 10 forums users know that search is broken. Just it seems the devs don’t know yet or don’t know how to fix it yet.

Sorry but again, what trait are you guys talking about? I have done “Forging the Pact” and “Battle of Claw Island” and others successfully and I can’t recall anything about traits. Wiki also doesn’t say anything about traits so I’m getting confused about this. Could someone clarify it for me please? I wonder if I also have missed something then.

Yes, I recall seeing threads about this issue (skills sharing cooldowns) but “thanks” to the “working” search I can’t find which one was it :P. I remember it also happens when going in and out of water, when the same skill is in the same slot either underwater or on ground.

Actually that waypoint should have appeared contested for you if you weren’t on the same map.
With the changes regarding megaserver “all contestable waypoints will now appear contested when not in the same map” (see https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-megaserver-system-world-bosses-and-events/ below Regarding Cross-Map World State), what means it should have been contested when you first saw it and only appear with the proper status when you arrived in the map later.
That was the bug on your case, the waypoint should be contested when you were out of the map.

When you approach an area with a lightning tether, wait for about 10 seconds. The “attunement” fades after that time, and your Lightning Pull skill reverts back to its old targeted circle mechanic.

You don’t always need to wait that time to get it back to its “normal” targeted state (in fact I never realized it happens after 10 secs), you can try to cam on a different angle and the skill will become a targeted one again. Usually it’s achieved when the tether is out of the center of your view.

As you even said, TP is a website and as any website it uses cache. Maybe try to clean game cache and see if it would solve. Game cache is in a folder within Temp folder (usually at C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Temp on Windows Vista or later) and it’s called like gw2cache-{<some guid numbers here>}. Just delete that folder with game closed and start it again.

At the very least, do we have an idea how many Sky Crystals are out there, and if there are enough that if you skip the ones that absolutely require a perfectly aimed Lightning Pull, you can still finish the achievement for finding them?

I don’t think there are crystals enough for you to be able to finish it avoiding those that require lighting pull, the most of them would require you to use it at some point. From what I know, there are about 50 crystals out there, same as last year I believe.

Yes, I can’t even count how many times I cursed at it early today :S 5 attempts to grab a crystal on a platform and on those 5 attempts I fell off passing the platform. Very annoying :S

Yes, when switching slots the pet name remains linked to that pet, but when charming a new pet it gets the name of your old pet and the old gets the name reseted.

The doubt about if it’s a new item or not can be easily answered maybe. If someone here has the old version, get the chat code in game and post it here. Those with the new version could do the same.

To get the proper chat code, type /wiki and put the item link, press enter and you will be taken to a search page on wiki. In the search field you will see the chat code. Not sure if simply copy pasting the link from chat would retrieve the code, then I suggested the way above.

Yes that was what I meant. I couldn’t figure out that I had passed the range because nothing indicated that. I could simply “drop” the portal but it didn’t work at all. A range indicator or at least not “dropping” the portal when out of range (like skill failing with a warning instead really making the portal on ground) would be great.

Talking about Portal I have noted a thing, not sure if it has been reported. While trying to help a friend to get a crystal I used portal, one at the where the crystal was and then I went to a WP and placed another portal. The portal showed up normally but it wasn’t no one could interact with it. At first I thought it was a failure by placing on a bad ground but then I thought it could be because it was out of range. I think it shouldn’t work at all when out of range, it gave me the impression I could use it that far.

Just to check if it was really out of range, the crystal was one above the roof of those houses hanging on a wall at north, at 3rd level. The waypoint was Sky Docks Waypoint.

Yes and this describes the same effects I have got with that skills…

  • #1 (wind): I klick the skill, and then nothing happens for a while. When the animation for the jump kicks in, it is way too late for me to react and try to steer/direct the jump. On my client I’m in the air, on the server I’m already dead. I haven’t been able to make a single successful jump, so I can’t even get to the upper part of the map.
  • #2 (sun): This skill works – I can warp my character through the waterfalls. At the end of the animation, my character jerks back and forth for about a meter 1-3 times, as if client and server can’t make up their mind about which location my character is in. This is not a problem on the bridges, but it is on bamboo sticks. Like with he #1 skill, when I see the animation it is too late for me to react, so I cannot make any of the intricate movemens that require any form of control like adjusting direction or stopping early.
  • #3 (lightning): This is the worst offender. I think I recall Leif calling this “precise jumping”. However, out of all the ground-targeted jumps I made last night, I managed to land on a platform exactly once. The other 40-50 times I either overjumped it, or did a funny spin in the air for several seconds and then plummeted to death a way before the platform. Now I’m pretty sure that that isn’t what ground targeting is supposed to work like. For me, the jump is a completely random one.

Different of that original poster I have been able to use it properly at times (my failure rate was lower than what post above says) but yes I keep experiencing these issues. Even when using lightning with those “statues” that makes it not require a target the issue happen. At a moment I approached it and then I hit the skill, I was tossed too far that I jumped over the whole following platform (just to note that it was a house’s roof, like those near Lightning Adept NPC, so a large platform) and fell off to death at the other side.

What’s even worse is when you cannot cast a skill before another finishes casting. E.g: as a mesmer I can’t cast Phantasmal Warden while Mind Slash chain is being executed or very soon after it was cast, or even worse I cannot cast Chaos Storm just very soon after casting Phantasmal Warlock. I was told it may be lag but it keeps happening even on low crowded places (even inside instances).
