Anyhow it’s possible your game files are corrupted or something. Try to repair it following the instructions here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client
anyone else find the Son of Svaner with the GOON tag funny?
lol yeah. I was like “uh oh” :P
It may be affected by this Anomaly:
As with all other attributes, the total Magic Find is not always correctly displayed in the hero panel, e.g. under the effects of banners or guild buffs, the additional increase provided by food will not be included in the total. However, ArenaNet has confirmed that the correct amount is applied when you roll for loot.
In fact, I have never seen it as an anomaly but as a feature. When you are under effect of a buff (food, guild banners, boosters, etc) the number on Hero panel is showed in green, like when any other stat is also under effect of a buff. However, in these cases the number showed has been always greater than the one in Achievements panel (number on Hero panel would be your normal MF as on Achievements panel plus any buffs applied).
However, people are reporting the opposite: the number on Hero panel is lower than the one on Achievements panel, then this is what seems to be a bug.
Btw, since it’s formated in a different in a different color I wouldn’t say it’s an anomaly, it’s a feature like when a trait is applied and the tooltips show some items in a different color to show it was affected in some way.
@Must Kill.3826: in your case the number on Hero panel is being showed in green, what means it’s being affected by some buff or bonus then it wouldn’t match with the other value anyhow. However, in these cases it would be expected the number on Hero panel to be higher than the one on Achievements panel (your normal MF plus buffs or bonus). In this case, yes something seems to be wrong.
It seems to be fixed on the latest patch.
After some research and a few “trial and error” thing I have came to some possible cause or at least I got some light on this. My tests were basically moving and resizing around the window and then relogging. I haven’t tested changing maps or something like. Tests were done on windowed (no border) mode in 1024 × 768 screen res. Inventory window were mostly 10 slots wide. Here is what I have noted:
- #1: While I was doing some tests I noted that if parts of the window would be hover certain areas the window would move to a certain spot after each log on. Also in these cases the window would open by itself after log on. (pic 1)
- #2: Putting the window on a certain area wouldn’t cause the window to move neither reopen itself. (pic 2)
- #3: Putting the window in a way that its borders touches certain areas would cause the bug making the window to shrink by 2 slots less. (pic 3 and 4) The last pic (5) just shows how the window looked like when the bug triggered.
I hope this can help to give some insight or some direction on where to look for a cause. I’ll try to repeat it on a different screen res at some point.
A side note: putting the window in a way that more than half of the achievement UI or mini-map gets covered (but no parts of it gets off-screen) and then closing and reopening the window causes the window to shrink to its minimal size (4 slots wide) as if it went partially off-screen.
Also, I’ve been trying to recreate this one with no success:
“#3. Sometimes when using a teleport skills (phase retreat, blink, etc)….
What may make it a pain to reproduce is it usually happens during the heat of a battle (at least was the case with me). It already has happened 2 or 3 times to me but I also hasn’t been able to see what exactly caused it. Btw, I had it happen to me just a few days ago…
And the immobilized bug attacks again… A few days ago, while doing Colocal Queen at Dry Top, I suddenly got stuck in place during the fight. Not sure what skill caused it but I believe it was one of the staff skills as I’m used to use them (probably Phase Retreat or Phantasmal Warlock) …
No fix for any mesmer bugs on this patch… well, at least they didn’t break anything either :P
Maybe would it have something to do with this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Name-plates-showing-new-string ?
Oh! I did notice (because this thread came to mind) at the time that my inventory was just slightly off-screen to the left (hiding only the icons of the bags). Not sure if that made or makes any difference.
No it doesn’t. I have tested the exact position you mentioned and what happened was the window moved a bit to right enough to show the icon on party panel, but no resize on any side. I’m doing some testing with different positions and sizes and I can come with something very soon.
I have Frostgorge Sound 100% completed, then I believe I could get that skill point without any issues. Maybe it’s not a game-wide issue but a server related issue? Not sure if there are someone else out there having the issue too, I never had heard about it.
I don’t know how it works when deleting ascended/legendary items as I have never tried it myself, but if it’s supposed to ask you to type the name of the item when deleting and it only happens when deleting through right-click but doesn’t happen when dragging out the item.. then yes it seems to be a bug to me.
And the immobilized bug attacks again… A few days ago, while doing Colocal Queen at Dry Top, I suddenly got stuck in place during the fight. Not sure what skill caused it but I believe it was one of the staff skills as I’m used to use them (probably Phase Retreat or Phantasmal Warlock). I got stuck in place as if immobilized but no purple chain around me, neither any condi and I kept stuck even after fight was over (it happened a few secs before it ended), I could only turn the camera and my char around, I couldn’t move to any direction. The only solution was the known one: using a emote like /dance.
lol yeah, that place is terribly known to have that issue. It gets even worse if you decide to jump on that slope and then it takes off around 80% of your health at once. It needs to be verified ASAP.
Well, while I do realize the reason for taking in account spaces and symbols for the filter (as it could be taken advantage for those trying to bypass it) I also see how it can be faulty. Maybe a way to filter those bad words but at the same time allow cases like these would be taking in account what comes before and after of those letters. In this case, even if the poster would intentionally put something before and after a bad word, it wouldn’t make too much sense for those reading it.
Yup, search has been broken for some time now. Check the link posted by Inculpatus above.
I’d love to see Mega-Servers at least retain a person’s spot on the map if they DC and allow them to come back if they reconnect within a certain amount of time.
Completely agreed on it. It sux to have that hard work fighting for then lose all the rewards due a “silly” disconnect.
Yes, the skin for it exists in-game as there are several rare high level weapons with that skin (see links below). But a fine level 5 with that skin was never seen in-game, only on TP.

(and more..)
Mesmers need some love too.. pwease?! *pouts*
I now let everything load first before navigating, and recheck quantities and prices before I list. It’s a little silly that I have to, because the UI somehow winds up mixing items up…
Yup, that’s what I do usually or I don’t even use “Sell on Trading Post” option at all.
I think the issue is that right-clicking the item and selecting “Sell at Trading Post” opens in the “Trading Post” tab not the “Sell at Trading Post” tab.
I usually manually switch to the “Sell at Trading Post” tab and sort the items by price, but tonight I didn’t do that.
I have noted it happening since late last year but not sure if it is what triggers the bug.
The fact is: when you right click an item and choose to sell it the TP window opens normally as if you had opened it via top bar, however some other parameter is passed to it telling it to auto-select an item.
What seems to happen is it needs the listing to load fully before it can select the item. Then in this case what happens is the player may go a littler faster than it and select another item before the system can do it itself. Since that action is pending to be done, the system then selects the item it was intended to select even though the player changed the selection.
What makes this bug worse is the recent change that allows an item to be sold under the highest buy order, what makes you sell it for the wrong price without any chances to delist it.
I have heard there are a few items in game that nobody has even seen, either by drop or crafting discovery but one I can tell is a level 5 Norn Greatsword (http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29258). It shows up on TP and there are even a lot of placed orders for it, but it never got any selling offer and no one got it at some point.
However, if it’s a TP bug or if the item realy exists in-game (it even has a valid chat code).. it’s something we still have to see…
While playing a Personal Story instance I was teleported inside a wall due some bugs with some skill. I only could get out of it by using Blink a few times.
Side note: when it happened I tried to use the /stuck command as I had heard about it somewhere else. It said I would be teleported after a while but I didn’t wait to see what the outcome would be. Could someone please tell me what’s the purpose of that command and what it does exactly?
Well, the bug with inventory window changing size itself (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Inventory-Window-changing-size-alone) has been around since Feature Patch but it recently had a dev asking for more info about it.. so.. there is still some hope…
Also in my case I had no issue with members list in that panel, but the “What is a Guild?” text happened to me.
I heard somewhere the bug might have to do with fractal equipment boxes (which I do have on most characters), worth investigating maybe.
People has said it could be causing the issue, but it doesn’t seem to be directly related as I don’t have any of those boxes and I’m experiencing this issue.
I’m not totally sure of its purpose but you could try to use /stuck command when it happens. I read somewhere it logs your position to devs or something (not sure about that though) but also it seems to teleport you out of there.
During my PS I got stuck in a wall due a bug with a skill (mesmers know it well :P) and then I recalled this command. When I used it I got a message on local chat saying like “You will be teleported in 30 seconds”. Since I was in a fight and I was able to fight even being stuck I didn’t wait to see the outcome of that command though. In other moments before that I used that command without being stuck and it did nothing, not even a message. Then I’m just guessing the purpose of it…

Edit: Here is a pic of what happened to me in that story showing the text on chat after using that command:

If you hadn’t seen these threads, take a look to see if it’s a known issue. Anyhow, you can post this issue on the first link too:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mesmer-Bugs-35-Updated-July-15/
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/List-of-Mesmer-Bugs-Older-Thread/
Yes, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJNlsybwX9s#t=19 is possible to note it if you look intently to a grass just near the bottom of the screen (near weapon skills). IIRC that option is even grayed for me, I couldn’t even change it in my case.
Yes I checked it last night and I also have a weird issue with Guild panel, the same as mentioned above.
I checked it last night and I also have a weird issue with Guild panel, not the same as mentioned on OP though. For me the text on botton for What’s a Guild? (or something like) isn’t breaking at the edge of the panel, it’s stretched all the way and leaks out of that panel (I think there is another thread about this although).
Have we had any word from the devs at all or is this a futile excersise?.
Not sure if you already have seen it but the old thread had gotten some dev responses about some of these issues, anyhow take a look if you haven’t yet: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/List-of-Mesmer-Bugs-Older-Thread/
^ This is one of the things that makes a whole thread useless and become ignored by the devs… :/
Edit: the previous post was removed, what makes this post non-sense now.
(edited by shadow.6174)
I have loads of these things. I only save them (from last year and this year), I guess, hoping they will be worth trading for something….some day. Lol.
Lol, same here. I still have some leftovers from some releases (cyphers, old clothes, gautlet tickets..) in hope they would be worth trading at some point… who knows… :/
“I find this happens (if your inventory is 10 slots wide) only if your inventory is on the right. You can stop this behavior if you offset it from the right by a certain amount (too much for my liking). It’s some sort of invisible constraint that requires trial and error with your inventory positioning. I have my inventory directly on the left edge of your screen without issue. "
I’m used to have it 10 slots wide and I have tried moving it to left, issue kept happening.
Thanks for the answer Evan, here is my side of this:
- What game client are you using? (Windows / Mac)
Windows client, on Windows 7 32 bits.
- What are your current graphics settings?
Usually I play with medium settings (like Rendering: Low, Shadows: medium, Textures: Low, Post Processing: Low, Reflections: Low).
- Are you playing in full screen or windowed mode?
Usually I play windowed, but I had been testing full screen recently and same issue occurs.
- Is your inventory full or maxed out?
If you mean the window stretched to fill the whole screen or something, no it’s not. Usually I keep it with 10 slots per row by 6 to 8 rows hight on a 1024×768 screen.
- Do you play with bags displayed or hidden?
I have bags displayed (bags separated by a title row).
I have logged only once after the last patch and I didn’t see the issue happening after logging in. Before it would shrink 1 column at each log in or zoning. I’ll check if it’s still occurring for me later.
Thanks for the answer, I get it. I felt it could be something like it given the type of those “issues”, I just wanted to be sure about the definition.
“Yay” messed UI attacks again. First, Inventory window which kept shrinking, now Guild window… :S
At times Warden’s AI simply amazes me, for better or for worse… lol
It’s just like “ok ready, where is it? Where is it.. where is it… where is it… hmm, whatever let’s look for another one… oh look one there, here we go!”
Ok, I’m not used with some terminologies and English isn’t my native language and then… could someone please tell me what does “QoL” mean? Sorry for the dumb question. :P
oh, nice thread btw, nice formating.
Still, I don’t like the idea of anything being handed out that’s worthless. Everything should have at least junk value.
Agreed, there is a lot of other stuff we gathered from past releases that doesn’t worth anymore. Yes, some of them we weren’t really hoarding or going after (like gautlet tickets, piles of sand, etc) but other we DID (like festival tokens [luckily this one was brought back in this release], found belongings, cyphers, ugly clothes [these can come back, but who knows..]). I’m sure someone out there yes were after these stuff at some point. Now the leftovers of that effort will become useless? Hmm..
Part of #3 though I mostly had that happen due to phase retreat or blink. It’s much more rare but does occasionally happen with illusionary leap swap too. Added Swap to #3.
Well, in fact due the heat of battle I can’t recall for sure what skill was it. I just guessed it was iLeap as I couldn’t recall what was the behavior for the #3.
Edit: Ironically what got me unstuck was Blink. I used it very precisely and luckily it teleported me out. The bright side of it was I hardly took damage as I was unreachable for the boss But the bad part was I had to rely on my clones to attack and... you know... *glances at a iWarden standing still*
(edited by shadow.6174)
For the devs: would iLeap work if it used Lightning Pull’s functionality and aimed it directly at the target? It’d likely eliminate a lot of the terrain issues plus be pretty fun to see – cloneballs flying over the parapets in wvw? Sign. Me. Up.
I believe it would be like Blink works currently, but a clone would be teleported instead.
Ohh, add this to Illusionary Leap: when used near a wall or some terrain block (like mountains) it may teleport you to inside that block, causing you to get stuck withing the structure.
This happened to me last night while doing Personal Story. I was in a hard battle and got stuck within a wall and from what I recall I used only the weapon skills from a staff at that moment. I’m sure it was Illusionary Leap which caused it.
In fact, I also think that creating a new thread wouldn’t help. Even more as this one has dev responses that draws some attention to it in the topics list. Also, a high number of answers shows it as very active. Starting over from scratch wouldn’t help that much.
Hmm…
BALANCE, BUG-FIXING, POLISH

I said I play mesmer, not that I use the focus.
Hehe yeah. Well, I main a mesmer and it seems mesmers are the class with less sources of swiftness. Runes can do the job but other classes seems to have more reliable sources of swiftness without requiring any additional item. I’m usually slower than my friend that I’m used to be in party with and if they are going to make travels longer.. then meeh.
