Does the 180 degree depend on the direction you are facing when laying down the bomb, or the direction you are facing when it goes off? Just out of interest, and it is horribly broken.

You can’t rely on the ft up close in this build too long as you die very quick, its just for a quick spike, and the various might stacking / other utilities before running away and opening with mortar./ rifle again

Actually I use mortar and rifle as main damage dooers. I use flamethrower for the burn toolbelt and a might stack on the fire field, and a knockback for ranger longbow arrows. Rarely use the auto on the ft, its more of a utlitiy kit that helps with might stacking.

I am running the following in sPVP. The range on the mortar is fantastic, I can group might and condi cleanse. It requires you keep distance with your opponents though, I very much mourn the loss of my old pre-mega patch engi whom would run up with bombs and roll around. Now my close engagements are a dash up, drop the blunder and jump shot, overcharged shot them away, stick a net on them and hit them with the slow glob from the EG. sort of affair and resume making their life hell from afar.

I’ve been enjoying orbital strike, in PVP I mostly use it on point to limit the opponents movement. I’ve dropped it on myself to get some breathing room from mele folks. You can leave it over someone who is downed / being rezzed.

I often drop it behind my opponents line of retreat so they don’t see the big line in the air, then I can Overcharged shot them and net shot. Or I can lob some mortars in front of them and have them take a doge roll back and end up in it.

Finally on one’s self you can not only buy a bit of breathing room, but you can blast your water fields etc. In general I now much prefer mortar too supply kit.

I used to love leave a bomb on dodge roll. With this 10s cool down you might as well not even bother having the trait. It’s actually more annoying because it puts you into combat. They basically did it to balance the GM trait, which is still useless because of this cooldown (compared to other options).

What really bothers me is how poorly bombs fair now. My favourite kit before, and because of the overlap with gernades they suffer horribly. At least pre-patch you could sort of justify them relative to gernades, if you squinted a bit. Now I only run them out of pity and a desire for a messy death at close range.

Hey Guys,

Suggestions would be great. I’d really like to make bombs useful, but it seems the explosives line is balanced around everyone using grenades, with bombs as an after thought. So if you have a good bomb build that would be great.

http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-Z70;2cPku0o5V1-x0;9;4jli;0138156247;4TF3;3H7W3H7W37p

This build is trying to make use of some of the hodge-podge of condition traits with my preference for the old power engineer. I am trying to hybrid with decent straight up damage (sacrificing the crit damage). And good condition damage. Might works well as I believe it affects both condi and reg. damage. Alchemy helps remove conditions, and with EG/Mortar I have some bonus elixir’s to help with that as well. I lack sustained speed, but the Heal skills toolbelt can unreliably provide some, I have rifle for jumps, I have EG for leap, and elixir B for mobility.

Obviously if I’m ganked I die real fast like, mokittenoes seem to be good to fire into group mele from a distance.

Anyway thoughts pls! (be nice)

Yup the dev’s likely shouldn’t comment as they were neither the decision makers on pricing, nor the ones who can change the decision made. It is unfair to criticise them for not commenting as they could really only get themselves in trouble by doing so. They should however inform those whom can make decisions about what their marketing “direction” has done. And I’m pretty darn sure that there are some meetings going on right now about the rather expected response to the sales/ marketing mess up.

Lets hope Anet runs an “Agile” methodology of product release and development. I think then they should be able to respond quickly to the defecit their current sprint has unleashed upon them.

So I bought the base game for 10 bucks more. I got 5 character slots all on the same account and a rather large game world. With dungeons, 5 races, 8 classes, world bosses, a full story, home instance, and felt it was a good value. (even excepting whatever was added later)

Now I’m being given the base game I’ve already bought, and so for me that’s of no value. I can’t conveniently or reasonably use the base game account with my current one as I can’t join the accounts together. So valueless to me (which I suppose is why they call it free).

For $10 less I get…

no new races,
1 new class,
? duneons, (current guess is none.)
? A world that is as big in size? (current guess is this is unlikely)
? a comparable length solo story?
no character slots on my account (Cost of $10 to me to add)
Some world bosses,

If the original game was good value for the money and good ratings, I’m reluctant to say it but this is sort of miserable. I’d have to pay them money equivalent to or more than the original game just to meaningfully make use of their extra class (ie. use it in my account without loosing hundreads of hours of play by deleting an existing character).

This argument ignores GW1 precedence (factions/nightfall) by which this feels an even worse deal.

I don’t mean to be overly critical Anet, but really how did you think that your players who funded your ability to make this expansion would feel about this? Are you surprised by the response?

I still don’t see why people are surprised by this… Anyone that knows GW’s history was not expecting a character slot. EotN, the only true expansion in GW history, did not add a character slot. Even after owning Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and EotN, you still had to purchase character slots to have one of every class. This entire thing is being blown up due to player entitlement…

Prophecies didn’t include new classes if you bought Factions/Nightfall first (yes it’s possible), yet you’d still get +2 slots when adding a Prophecies game to your account.

Did you only get 2 new slots… I thought I got more than that when I bought Factions then added in Nightfall / Factions.

My complaint is that the nightfall and prophesies were games that added game worlds as large as the original game. Is the new world content here going to double the size of Tyria?

Aye if you’re not running the optimal build things may change

I’m sure there are different optimal builds for different teams. I’ve been playing with a might stacking, cele amulet, engi with runes of strength and the afforementioned utilities and enjoying it quite a lot. To be fair I’m nowhere near an elite player, but I do see some promise in this build.

I dislike ‘nades so I’ve been looking for an alternative.

But even consider you are playing the meta engineer, with intelligence and elixir B or utility goggles, you then have access to a 20% fury buff, is assassins still going to be ideal with those choices in the meta build? I’m not sure.

You can also factor in that a proper team build might be supplying additional crit bonuses, so I still think it somewhat depends on how your group is made up and what exactly you choose for your “?” skill in the meta.

I do all my PVE and PVP with the same build. 66002. I run bombs Elixir Gun and the might potion the majority of the time. I find that staying alive and healing is pretty well handled by popping your toolbelt regens before you’re down to your last energy (and you have 2, though try to save the stun breaker). Using your EG number 5 to remove conditions, and double tapping your Healing Turret. Since you have bomb you can place bomb down then deploy the H.T. for a good heal, or throw in a EG acid bomb to blast finish. These should provide really nice healing that grants area benefit to your stack. Really mastering the blast finish and healing turret use is key to survivability in my build but I really don’t feel the need for more.

There are instructional youtube videos on getting the most out of the HT, check them out. Learning things like picking up your turret reduces cooldown is pretty important.

Poster also seems to be indicating, if I understand, that the plug-ins allow for not just macro, (operations 10000 times per second), but also perma stealth. So basically I take it to mean the games lost it’s appeal due to too many people using cheats of some form or another making it not enjoyable to play.

The next part of his post explains that data sent to the server from the thin client indicating that you are stealth and underground, is not validated by the server as being contextually possible given the class/circumstances of the player. So this is why he thinks its able to be done if I understand.

Since a previous Chinese poster has already said the the Chinese version has less than 50,000 players I don’t see how it can survive. Surely it’s going to close down anyway. if it can’t pay the bills.

1, we have to pay once money game, so we can play to guild wars 2.If it has I need I will pay, if he is not good, I love to pay the studio.
2, this game is no longer popular in China, it is a fact.
3, another is the fact that why one hundreds of millions of people love to play PC games market guild wars 2 couldn’t succeed.World of warcraft and hero alliance is very successful. Most Chinese AFK players are waiting for ANET amplification, waiting for the HOT whether can succeed.Yes, I also so.
4, I am not happy because of KZW didn’t want to have a good business guild wars 2, play with possessions clown mocked, send you a few spherical spirit quality is super gift.Actually plugin has wiped out WVW, PVP now already a lot of plugins. The KZW reply is please avoid playing the player with plugins.

Are you (and apparently others) unhappy with the way it’s run over there, or with game itself? I can’t understand why the game even needed to be changed. Surely there’s that many people that a stack of them would like the appeal of it in the way many of us do in the western markets.

Is essentially the same as Chinese and western players appreciate and good design.Good design is can be across borders.

I put it this way, apple mobile phone in China can succeed, because it is good enough, good to people from all ethnic cultures to be able to appreciate it.Hero alliance, world of warcraft, and some TV drama.

The other is an extreme example, most Chinese people don’t like the Japanese, because the cause of the war, but the Japanese design is very popular in China.Because they are good enough.

As a game in China nearly died, I believe that for players like it, this is bad news.

And don’t look down upon Chinese, China’s four major ancient civilizations, and thousands of years China has been the east’s most powerful nation.Although the past 100 years make China seem to become a nation no longer respected. But the height of civilization will be back in China, just like the past thousands of years.

Wow, where do you get off making this about “looking down on the Chinese” and bringing racism into this. He said nothing of the sort. You owe an apology.

It is sad that you even think this way. Take a good look at yourself.

The poster simply said he didn’t understand how or why the market preferences differ. At worst his implicit argument that he/she thinks you should like the same things could be taken as slightly unaware of typical cross market / cultural differences, but he asks the question in good faith and in looking towards increasing his understanding.

Your inappropriate reaction and response is a result of your bias/racism, it makes you assume motivations in others that aren’t there. You have the arrogance to think you understand their motivations and judge them on it.

The original poster seemed to be properly admitting his ignorance and you took that and decided to make it into something that it wasn’t to reflect your sad world view.

It is also racist against Chinese people to say “most Chinese people don’t like the Japanese”. You don’t have sufficient sample size to make this claim of racism on behalf of an entire people, a fair number of whom don’t live in China but still on some level consider themselves Chinese people.

You should really ask yourself, do you think the majority of Japanese today had anything to do with Nanjing?

Now if you want to look for people to be angry at for killing the Chinese. Perhaps you should turn your ignorant hatred on the people from this country “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiping_Rebellion”.

This is perhaps one of the worst masacre’s in Chinese history, and it was perpetrated by well what you would call “Chinese people”.

Now ask yourself is it reasonable that the Chinese should hate the Chinese for this war? (in this case mostly hakka if I recall). Will you turn on yourselves?

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

*to be fair their does seem to be indications of a lack of responsibility taken on behalf of the Japanese government for actions taken during WWII with respect to the invasion of China, but then you may be mad at those government representatives, there are many of Japanese descent whom had no relatives in that invasion, nor did they vote for this government. So it is still a racist opinion to hold a whole group of people responsible for actions taken by members of the group.

The advantage of forcing the unique weapon to be associated with a specialization is that future specializations can offer different unique weapons, thus making specializations more interesting. If this wasn’t the case, after like 3 specializations every class would have access to every weapon on every build which would be harder to balance and kind of make specializations less special. I sort of like the limitation.

healing turret

I don’t understand where everyone is coming from when they say that the healing turret is useless now. I use my healing turret as I always have: If I only need a little healing, I put it down, overcharge it and then pick it up. If I need a big heal I put it down, over-charge it and then detonate it to blast the water field. I haven’t seen any loss of effectiveness in my healing turret since the patch, even in SPvP.

I’m with Gern here. if I end up leaving my turret sitting it’s because I screwed up. if I’m not detonating it I’m picking it up immediately to get that 15sec cooldown ticking.

HT isn’t OP, it’s just like with Healing Signet on warrior- the alternatives are just bad.

I litterally don’t have time to overcharge it anymore because there is a slight delay between deployment and overcharge, and as it’s dead before I overcharge, I certainly can’t pick it up.

Noone is arguing they wanted to leave it on the ground for 10 minutes, but they’d at least like the option to overcharge which isn’t a possibility anymore in some circumstances (particularly showing up in PvP).

Consider, you’re on point, you get immobilized and there’s a well underneath you / ranger barrage / ele whatever it is they do. You think, I’d really like to not be here, oh hey my healing turret can remove a condition and heal me… that’s pretty handy. You deploy it and it dies before you can overcharge.

Well every forum needs a troll I suppose.

But who said anything about tears, I think it was generally accepted that while not actually effective in high level play, it was too easy a build to play against weak non-coordinated teams.

However the fix in question is contradictory with the justifications given for it by the developers, and quite frankly seems a bit of a cop out. They didn’t make a more interesting and skill requiring turret build option, they simply removed a unique form of play style all together. The fix is further poorly executed that yet in doing this they impacted people who don’t even play turret builds, but simply make use of one for a healing skill.

Note : I have never played a turret engi and have been on the receiving side of the pin ball effect so I get your trolling inclinations if this happens frequently to you. And I understand your impotent rage at not being able to deal with the terrifying turret engi of old.
