the argument you are making doesn’t have to do with versatitlity. You don’t have to choose arcane if it doesn’t work for your build. Also arcane is design to benefit all attunement so it doesn’t make sense to put that trait in any other line.
Well it boosts the AoE of 7 abilities.
True, but if it doesn’t suit your needs why take it? Or if the are more important skills to take than it why take it/

I don’t see the need for a spawn window either, especially an hour and 15 for jormag. That window is just stupid long.
Actually, I feel the opposite they should totally randomize the spawn timer and even significantly reduce the amount of times those dragon spawn, but we all can’t get what we want.

MMORPGs rely on keeping people addicted to mediocre content, so they keep doing mindless and boring tasks over and over for some small and irrelevant reward.
which is a sad thing and should never be the case. gw1 was amazing just because it had none of this.(and only small amounts in eotn)
gw2 is so far from this ideal tho…… :’(
Tinted glasses is strong in this one.
Guild wars 1 had just as much mediocre content as any MMORPG. The only difference is, you idealize guild wars 1, while you hate that Arena net for not making gw 1.5.
Anyways, the problem is with the genre, all mmorpg are mediocre because of their multi-player nature, they have to sacrifice a lot of things to prevent trolls, lag and they have to take into account bad players and computers.
But I suppose it is the cool thing to hate on guild wars 2 on this forum.

I really dislike most MMOs. I’ve always liked the idea behind them, or rather saw the potential, but very few MMOs can hold my interest for any length of time.
I agree, but I will take it further. I like the idea of MMO I just hate their implementation 99% of the time and think MMO are simply just really really bad video games when you compare them to SP. Honestly, I m beginning to just hate the genre, to the point where I might just abandon it.

The plan is to milk the players of this game as long as possible for NCsoft’s future investments. IE Wildstar, content for Aion/Lineage, and hopefully at some point this year or early next year at the latest a GW2 expansion
Oh look, the whole crowd of malcontents are repeating the same thing over and over again. How…original. Do you guys rehearse this stuff.
Proof? No? I didn’t think so.
Well, if you were looking to discuss, we could do without the mocking hyperbole.
It makes good business sense to take funds from something that is already succeeding (monetarily) and pump it into other potential ventures.
No one knows what’s succeeding and what’s not succeeding, except NCsoft. We do know that so far, Guild Wars 2 is their second highest money maker. We don’t know how much it’s made since the last quarterly report though and we don’t know how much the gem store makes, so it’s all speculation.
Now if Guild Wars 2 turns out to be the most profitable product, then what? Since Wildstar hasn’t launched, no one knows how well it will do.
I mean they thought Blade and Soul would do a lot better than it did, but it didn’t really go anywhere. No guarantees in this industry.
At this point in time GW2 is funding Wildstar and also the first expansion for GW2.
Wildstar started development before guild wars 2 was released. Secondly, it is exactly how business operates, they take the money some of it goes to profit and the reset is reinvested in another project or are people on game forums this ignorant of business operations?
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
According to who? You? I, for one, wouldn’t play Guild Wars 2 if it were like its predecessor. What you call a mistake, I call a sound decision. And guess what? My opinion on the subject carries as much authority as yours.
Congratulations, you are part of the minority who was not disappointed in the false sequel.
Source? Where do you get your numbers to come to the conclusion of what the majority and the minority thinks.
You should be more aware of your surroundings.
Why because a few people on the forum agree with you? Considering less than 5% of players actually ever visit the official forums it is hard to be aware of your surroundings.
BTW surrounding yourself with what amounts to yes man, is not the same as being aware of your surroundings.

They plan on milking the name of Guild Wars for all its worth until the playerbase shrinks beyond profitability. Waiting for ANet to die hard so they can learn from their mistakes the hard way.
Hate to tell you but the old player base of Guild wars is probably not a majority of players of this game. I could be wrong. Even so I still would not expect this team to only look back, never try to create.
You’re right it isn’t. As a game developer I would consider that a major flaw in a product I create. Your statement only supports mine.
The thing is you are not the game developer.
That is where you are wrong, evil ally of Vayne. On the internet, everybody is a game designer. I know more about the intricacies of the game and I possess more information about the demographic and the playing habits of Guild wars 2 players than any of those dumb Anet designers. I understand that, increasing a skill effectiveness simply means bumping up numbers here and there. Fixing animation only involves changing the numbers a little. Testing is easy and extremely fast and I know all of thise because I am a game designer, which is why I spend more of my time on the forum critiquing someone’s work instead of making me own.
Yep I am that good.

Anet hasn’t shown a vested interest in the forums.
At this point in time, I don’t see why Anet should take a vested interest in the forums. Most, as pointed out above, just complain. Most of those complaints are not constructed and are hateful or rude. If I was Anet I wouldn’t take an interest in that either.
Add to that the fact that everything they say gets misconstrued, sometime purposefully, and thrown back at them in the form of accusations of lying and I don’t blame the developers for keeping a low profile around here.
kitten ed if they do, kitten ed if they don’t.
They will never win, so why bother. Even the best of intentions usually get turn around and thrown in their face. It is a never ending battle and at some point you are better of keeping quiet.
Personally, I feel the best way to run an MMORPG is to keep expectations low, of course make a good game, but keep expectations too low and you will significantly reduce the whining (whining is not the same as complaining).

Lol, just realized I forgot that Mike ’O Brien said in the Manifesto:
“We’ve taken everything you love from GW1 and put it in a persistent world.”
That’s really funny, because they took almost all things from GW1 that I loved, then never used it and made the same mistakes they made in GW1… I personally think that GW2 has almost nothing in common with GW1… It took the lore, and the professions, gave some a new flavor and then built something completely different. Forgetting all the simple things that made GW1 great..
So what you are saying is you have a different opinion than Mike O’brien? What you are saying is a matter of taste, based on your attempt to be a kitten you have a different opinion of what you liked from gw1 than him and I.

This game is called Guild Wars 2. the second version of Guild Wars. In the first game, you know, Guild Wars… Guilds… They could actually War. Guilds could fight each other.
I mean that is the name of your game. In Guild Wars 2, Guilds can not play against each other. Other than this being the first thing that should have been implemented in the game, why still, after 10 months, can Guilds not play against each other in a game called Guild Wars. It doesn’t make sense. You took away the place where guilds play against each other, and you took away the ability for guilds to fight. It’s not a question of “what do I want from gw1” it’s, "why even name this game Guild Wars 2, since you can’t do what the name of the game says.
How this is anything less than embarrassing for every developer is beyond me. You took away the most important tool for every guild leader and we now can’t tell how long our players have been offline. Why this wasn’t a basic feature in the roster, and completely forgotten, again makes me believe the current developers of this game didn’t even play GW1. It’s getting ridiculous because these updates never address any of the core problems with the game and add the basic things that anyone who played gw1 would expect in a sequel. They failed at getting testers who were critical, and haven’t listened to any common sense suggestions since release like the ones I stated above, they just keep adding temporary content that allows people to get rich for a while each month.
The game is called guild wars, you know the event that happen in the past right before the start of the game.
Fun fact: did you know that the max number of players for GvG was 7v7? which if you really wanted to you could easily do it especially now.

According to the devs, and other personnel, feedback is collected from all the threads
Except of course from the engineer and necro players, and the entire suggestions forum.
The only time they’ve posted in suggestions is to say they do read it, and yet not a single thing has ever been taken from it, and it seems to be where they send ideas they don’t want anyone to actually consider. Since ideas that mesh with the goals they already have are frequently allowed to stay wherever they are first posted.
Engineers and necros just got their first red post in almost six months, addressing a bug, one single bug each.
Same with rangers, elementalist and warriors. The point being almost every profession thread have post of players thinking that their issues should take precedent over others. The rangers had to deal with that kitten for months, you guys should have to as well, well not really but I am petty so yeah.

Am I the only one that realize that a good chunk of the features people are listing are based on guild wars 1 after nightfall? Where the game was significantly different that at release?
LIke the suggestion easy to aquire BiS, which is easier in vanilla gw2 than it was in prophocies by a long short?
I also love the PvE skill balance suggestion considering the game (gw1) had absolutely none and was gimmicky or full of gimmicky builds. I mean any game that you can let the NPC heroes play the game for you w/o any input certainly isn’t a game.
some of the other suggestion are nice though.

One of the many things I missed or did not realized I missed from guild wars 1 until I started playing another MMORPG were chest. You can have like the krytan key or even require them to be crafted with lot and lots of materials as a way to burn over stock.
Right now, yes, you can get chest from JP and world bosses, but not not bring back chest that spawn randomly around the Open world and not just on JP. It could have crafting mats, armor, insignia.
TL;DR
Bring back chest. I think it is a cool thing to have, it adds a certain favah.

Neverwinter took like a few of GW2’s ideas (dodge rolling/downed state).
Which is kind of comical, because they actually did them extremely well and have a much more well made game 3 days into its open beta…
It’s called innovation. They what Arenanet made and made it better that is the benefit of being released a year later.

Who will be here when all is done and said? The PvPers… so you should probably start catering to them… as in implementing features that existed in GW1 years ago.
I don’t necessarily think that is true at all. I think right now more people are still PvEing than PvPing 8 months after release. Also PvE is still more popular in GW1.
Instead, they should strike a balance between the two, not cater to one or the other
Obviously, look at the mess that PvP is. You think people Will go to conventions, swarm by the thousands, to watch someone do a dungeon run? Me neither.
PvP tends to outlast PvE… that’s the general idea.Even at the height of gw1 popularity, PvE was what kept the game running. After prophecies they became shifting focus to PvE.
who cares? sc2 and lol run entirely off of pvp and they do just fine
I was talking about guild wars 1, I dont care about sc2. Just to add, SC2 is not even comparable. The only other MMORPG that gw2 can be compared to is gw1, in, since.
guild wars 2 has more going for it, which means it requires more resources than sc2. Obviously not sufficient reason for its current state, but it is what it is.

I think the skins are overpriced. 15€ for 2 weapon skins which gets created ones and duplicated as many times as anet wishes… Makes me wish this game would be subscription based instead of this.
Then they would probably cost more.
Just to add, WoW has a sub and you still have to buy a 15 dollar mount, how do u explain that? At least with all these stuff you can buy it with in game gold AND they are fluffy.

1. Spirits are still useless. They die in two coughs now, not just one.
2. You ignored weapons problems again.
3. Increasing QZ’s duration by one second is nice for one second.
4. I see you’ve improved passive. Now when your pet is staring blankly in to space rather than running back when you tell it to, it’ll live longer.
5. You increased spiritual knowledge luck from 15% to 35%. It’s almost like you think that’ll fix the problem. I sincerely hope not.
6. You nerfed our search and rescue in PvP, removing another thing we could actually use to our advantage in PvP. It wasn’t very effective most of the time as the healing wasn’t… Well, fast. But it served it’s purpose and was working as intended in some situations, hardly in line for a nerf. Much like saying our longbow is in need of a nerf because it’s barrage is too barrage.
7. Amusing to see the elite spirit getting no love. Or fixes for the elite entanglement.
8. Perhaps I’ve already stated this, but you ignored weapons again. I sense a pattern.
A patch that fails to address glaring issues with the profession adequately. Imagine that.
I see this patch as really great for the ranger, it might not fix all the issues the rangers have, but the ranger is in a far better position than it was yesterday. But more importantly, it certainly in heaven as compared to the elementlist for example.

Finally something my wvw experience gives me a leg up on. You can absolutely have up to 5v5 fights that are interesting, dynamic, and take a while without healers. And no its not just a burst fest either.
3v3 really feels like the sweet spot for the combat system though.
I have exhaustive experience running essentially 5vN death match and would be happy to discuss likely strategy or anything else. Especially with devs:)
Actually your WvW experience is irrelevant. Your 3v3 or 5v5 doesn’t really affect the outcome of the match. They are still people out they killing, capping and defending the points. So in the grand scheme of things, you are not really doing anything because other people are.

I think it would actually be more useful if Anet acknowledged the dreadful state of pvp in general and why it failed so hard. Then made a compromise and moved from there. I dont think this kind of reactions are of much use. In my opinion they need to scrap the current model (as far as pvp is concerned) and move back to the GW1 model with the standard trinity. Just because it is a different idea, it does not mean it is a good idea, and i think the spvp numbers speak for them selves about this.
Err… no. Whilst I agree that they do need to go back to the GW1 structure of SPvP, they DEFINITELY DONT need the standard trinity.
So says you, which you are entitled to think what you like. Spvp numbers 8months after lunch says otherwise me thinks. In fact, the only real thing missing from trin is healers, me sees.
Do you actually have numbers to compare or are you pulling it out of you kitten Also you conveniently forgot to mention that when guild wars 1 came out, the wasn’t that many options. Well I see it this way
If your girlfriend is late on a date, would you like her to apologize? well yeah:p
Would it change anything? Huh nope
Still would you appreciate it? yup no doubt about that:p
WOW, I feel bad for you. So in your mind, Arenanet is like your “girlfriend” or someone close to you?
For a sec, I thought it was a corporation and not your friend nor your relative, but maybe I was thinking incorrect.
Don’t misunderstand me. This isn’t a “make or break” thread. I am not threatening anyone with anything either. No e-lobbying, no heart breaking farewell, just a simple question from someone who enjoys the game:
Why is it taking so long to get core features in?
And if arenanet reckons it has indeed taken a lot longer than expected, do they feel like to apologise for the delay?
Will they have the decency to say “sorry for being late” to all the players who were waiting to play the game competitively? Do they care enough about the community to give us some explanations?
It is taking so long because THEIR priority is apparently not the same as YOUR priority, it’s just that simple. The response to SPvP as been poor, we all know that, unfortunately by leaving it ends up in a situation where why dedicate a lot of money to a section of the game that doesn’t generate any income nor does it have any players, while ignoring the main base that actually supports the game. SPvP with respect to the game is like the Remora to Shark, living off the shark’s awesomeness/power/deadliness.

Guild wars 1 had everything PvPers said they could want and what ended up keeping the game was PvEers.

Not only do PvE play the bills and sustain the game and can be monetize. PvPers tend to be less loyal and more likely to easily move from one thing to another faster than a PvEer will do. GW1 had everything PvPers would want, however that did not prevent it’s inevitable decline. So it makes little sense to dedicate a lot of resources to a game mode that is less monetize AND significantly less loyal.
I am pretty amazed at the new PvE thing though, it looks interesting. Not interesting enough to get me to log in after 3 months, but amazing nonetheless.
It begs the question why would you bother hanging around a forum of a game you don’t play?
I always found that amazing…in a kind of sad way why people do that.
Not so certain about your loyalty statement. If you want a history lesson, look at DAoC. The people that stuck around and are still around ARE the PvPers, the PvErs left between SI and ToA updates for the most part.
Ya, DAoC came out when they were very few games. I will admit, I could be wrong but my xperience in other MMORPG with PvP tend to be in that manner.

Ever heard of e-sports?
How many MMORPG have ever become esport? (I should have quantified my statement by specifying MMORPG, you win by default). Or they tend to jump to the next thing, easier than PvEers.
And yes, they are less loyal and react harshly to change.
Clearly you have stats to back that statement up…oh we’re just making stuff up? PVP’res are by far more loyal to a game than pve’ers. So everyone can do it and have fun too!
This isn’t a law class or scientific discussion. If you don’t believe me don’t. But look around, go to other MMORPG with PvP, the first to jump ship are PvPers.

All the matches I played last night were all equally or similar in balance (rank). I think the problem is that they are so few high ranks as compared to low ranks that you get unbalance teams.
The real problem is really the fact that when new blood tries to check out PvP, you got a few jackhole QQing, like it is the worst thing ever and then complain how very little resource dedicated to a mode that few actually play.
As for the matchmaking, it seems more plausible that the queue prioritize time over rank if there is nobody of similar strength. That is not to say that, Pre-made vs pug is actually fair.

And hopefully you will soon realize that you need players like us (people who like to PvP but simply don’t PvP in guild wars 2), for PvP to continuaing to have any value or support.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
