You are right, aion had better. I wish guild wars 2 had more choice, but I don’t certainly want a repeat of the deform characters that plague that game. Those deformed character just ruined kitten game for me.

I think guild wars 2 biggest flaw is having too many races which limits customization potential.

The level scaling is doing a bad job in the lower level zones, they need to reduce the stats a little more I think by 30 to 40%, I see no reason why an 80 should have to take on 6 mobs in queensdale.

With that said they really need to reduce the respawn time for DE in Queensdale or Add more and they need to add more DE in the other zone.

Awwww, someone doesn’t know the difference between graphics and aesthetics. Guild wars 2 is a game that is focuses on aesthetics NOT graphics. Games with great aesthetics tend to age extremely well compared to game that focus exclusively on graphics. This is the reason why elders scrolls oblivion looked great in 2006 but looks like kitten now compared to guild wars 1 release in 2005 and looks way better.

They’ve already said they’ll be adding more traits and skills in the next 6 months in that blog post.

If they did do this, they’d have to add an extra tier to traits. Much easier to chuck the less exciting traits out and somehow integrate them with skill use (using this skill when x condition is met achieves y effect) and introduce the new traits.

What you said would be true IF it wasn’t for the fact that I did build my own computer last year (i5 3570k oc to 4.5, nv 670, 8GB ram and blah blah blah, and just for fun bought a 27 inch 2560×1440 Ips monitor). I was planning on going all out with adding another 670, buying 2 more ips screens and bumping up the ram to 16, but I am in then I realize how little I care about graphics and I am out the point where graphics should be secondary to EVERYTHING else. Graphics are the things companies like Crytek use to hide behind their medicore shooter.

With that said, you are right in a way, I do sometimes wish I hadn’t spend that much money on something just to say “Looks nice” then promptly don’t care anymore.

Linear as kitten and on full QTE spam. But that’s Crytek, not every dev puts amazing looking graphics with garbage gameplay. For example, Watch Dogs, The Division, Destiny, MGS5 and TW3 all have great graphics while having some good gameplay (from the looks of it and from playing their prequels) and that’s what im looking for, good graphics AND good gameplay but for some companies that’s too much asking

DirectX 11 is nice, but it will be something that nobody bothers to care about in a few weeks.

This is an old revived thread so if you said something 2 months ago, well, i can’t just remember that. Crysis 1 looked good because previous Crytek game was Far Cry 1 which was good. Crysis 1 came out and lots of ppl liked it and it got really high scores everywhere. It was an okay game for me personally (would give it a 8/10), its the sequels that sucked, and that was seen in reviews as well (especially crysis 3 because all it had is graphics and a cool * bow). Another thing most ppl forget is Crytek is the owner of cryengine, this is why their two latest crysis games looked like tech demos. They may not care as much for their game to sell like a GTA5 would because they showcase their engine and i dunno if you’ve noticed but lots of next gen games and even mmo’s use it now. Crytek games sell their engine that’s why gameplay is ALWAYS shallow, generic and linear but they don’t care because their games look as good as it gets and that makes ppl talk about their games and companies to borrow their engine

I am going to borrow an idea I saw in the PvP forum by DiogoSilva and say we merged and create the following traits:
Pyromancer’s Alacrity + (fire equivalent of fresh air) = 20% CD reduction+ recharge on crit.
Aeromancer’s Alacrity + "fresh air*= 20% air + recharge on crit
Aquamancer’s Alacrity + (water equivalent of fresh air) =
Geomancer’s Alacrity+(earth equivalent of fresh air) = 20 spell reduction + recharge on crit.

so that it benefit other weapons set and people that want to focus on specific attunements.

What I find messed up is that if I use barrage on a zerg, I can easily get hit upwards of 10,000. The only way to avoid this is to not attack at all, and that is unreasonable.

I wish MMORPG based their stories on the heroes simply being part of a giant army, which in some ways the personal story does by having trahearne being the main hero. I only wish, the player wasn’t a commander but a grunt because that would be more believable, in the context of the story.

Destroying the “trinity” caused more problems than it solved. When you have a game where every profession is “damage plus healing”, “damage plus conditions”, “damage plus extra damage”, etc., there’s only so much to work with. All professions are balanced, but some professions are more balanced than others.

Guild wars 2 still has a trinity, a lot of people like you don’t understand it. Guild wars 2 simple got rid of tank, healing and replaced it with it’s own trinity Damage, support and control. It still has a trinity, it is just that the trinity isn’t forced down your throat. I don’t need random kitten X to play the content, I can play the content with any class.

With that said, UNFORTUNATELY, PvE encounters significantly favors damage OVER the other 2 parts of the trinity. Right now most encounters except AR, significantly favor glass canons versus all other forms. To fix that, the current and future encounters would have to completely be redesigned.

With that said, it is still better than games with tank and healers because generally speaking you are usually only doing one role 100% of the time, compare to guild wars 2 where you can do other roles. The only time in a typical WOW-like game you ever car what the other players are doing is when they are kittening up.

They will never implement it because it will lead to MORE people whining how this class is OP vs another class, even though the game is technically balance around group play.

The fact that you are here complaining instead of playing the game you seem to be truly in love means there is something holding you back. Personally, I think the reason is that even though you are blinded by nostalgia you probably realize that deep down guild wars 1 did not age too well and your feelings for that game will not over come that. From your very specific complaints about the game, you could easily still enjoy the game but are unwilling to do so.

As a former guild wars 1 fan with gw1 being my first MMO type game (gw1 is a CoRPG), no MMORPG will ever beat the feeling of first logging into pre-searing ascalon in 2005, but that didn’t matter because I couldn’t play the game for longer than 15 minutes.

A lot of these guild war 2 is not guild wars 1 threads are simply a battle of emotions and finding bullet points to justify your emotional debate, because ultimately if you really like the game the way they claimed they would still be playing guild wars 1 and not here complaining.

To answer your question, your experience is determined by the server, time and current event.

Right now everybody is doing the living story and so certain areas will be less populated. Then combine with the fact that the time you play and the server also affects whether or not you encounter players or not. The great thing about this game is you can guest on a different server which also causes the population on certain servers to be lower than usual.

Hello Ive just bought the game because ive heard so many good things about it. Im currently lvl 20 now but throughout the whole time i was playing i havent seen a single person. The sever staus says its high population but I do see why when everywhere is a ghost town. Am i missing something?

Server status doesn’t indicate how many people linked their accounts to that server. A full server could be the least populated one at any given time.
The game has been out awhile, and a lot of people have quit the game since then. I would recommend that you join Tarnished Coast, as it is the only populated server on US that I have found. Mid level zones have people around. You won’t see a lot of people, but you will usually run into a person or two every few minutes.

I would say you avoid opinions from guys like these because especially in HIS case said individual has been whining about the game BEFORE it was even in BETA. (which makes you wonder why it would buy the game in the first place).

Not to say the game is perfect, but if you are complaining about a game even before it is release you know the opinion of the individual should be taken lightly.
