Fix GS please

They fixed it a couple patch ago. They increased the cooldown on the symbol and reduce cooldown on the leap. That’s the fix GS needed. Now if you ain’t happy about not being able to faceroll everything with one weapon then go play thief.

WvWvW... for PvE and guild wars

I have 2 suggestions.
Firstly, the WvWvW… for PvE.

Making a PvE map that work like WvWvW but instead of being PvP, making it against monsters (Dragon’s minions) would be awesome.
You know, just like in Lord of the ring where they defend that keep.
The possibilities are already there… Risen catapults = trebuchets, giants = siege golems, using risen bulls or something could be the rams… etc.
Using events to send ennemies troop from their bases to keeps or towers.
Or maybe design just one giant super keep that we need to defend.
Wouldn’t that be great? (Personnally I’d love to use a ballista on risens. :p)
For the rewards, make them as low or lower then WvWvW and give the same kind of passive bonus from controlling keeps and towers (giving other passive like magic find, damage increase or condition duration, etc.)
Because right now, other the dungeons, all I see for PvE is farming mats or events… there is no actual fun dynamic stuff going on in the PvE world. I want to feel like it’s actually a war out there against zaithan.

My second suggestion would be… well… guild wars. Being able to go at war with another guild allowing us to attack members of the opposing guild in the PvE world (at the exception of cities). Make it cost money to go at war and only if the opposing guild accept guild wars.

The symbol AoE damage is crap…
They actually buffed the GS by reducing the CD on our leap to 15 seconds.

with evasive arcane (30 in arcane) you get blast finisher on rolling for every attunement (10 seconds CD per attunement) Allowing you to blast finisher in Geyser and Healing Spring for an AoE heal.
I’m currently at about 1250 healing power and that blast finisher heal for like 1k5.
My geyser heal for 1k per tick (3 ticks) and my regen tick for about 280. Soothing mist (passive heal in water attunement with water minor trait) heal for about 150 per tick. Water blast heal for about 500. My ice elemental elite heal for about 4k5-5k (No clues if it is increased by my healing power), attuning to water heal for about 2k5. If you master the blast finishers in water fields, you can easily heal your allies more then they can heal themselves with their own heals. You can blast finisher with eruption and arcane wave as well as dodging with evasive arcana. Cleansing wave from evasive arcana also heal for about 2k5-3k (as well as removing condition).

So yeah, even if at first the healing power seems rather weak, for a staff elementalist, you can dish out a crazy amount of healing when using combos and managing your attunements well.

Ryld, a couple post above, mentionned every heals you can get from a staff support spec.

I kind of said in my second post that there was other threads for skipping and exploiting dungeons. Hence my answer to him. (Tho I agree my answer is quite childish but I’m tired of people ruining threads because they QQ about a problem in the game)
I know I skipped mobs and glitched the first mob. That isn’t why I posted this thread.

Plus, I don’t see the problem with me skipping mobs… when it take 3 hours to do with skipping half of the monsters, I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t skip theses said monsters… Especially since I can’t save my progress. It’s also why I glitched the first boss. After I died the only way to do it the legit way was to restart the dungeon and kill the 5 first vines again since now there was the boss and 3 vines up. I realized too late that the vines spawn at a % of the boss health rather then at a set timer. Making it pretty easy for me to just kill the vines that spawn during the boss fight.

Pretty sure Mesmer could solo dungeons and probably have an easier time for some fights. Minion master necro can do pretty well too. Other professions I can’t tell.

After soloing Caudecus manor, I had a lot of people saying Caudecus was easy and blablabla so this time I aimed higher. So here you go! Twilight Arbor soloed by my level 80 elementalist Snap Le Mouton.

Some info :
About 3 hours to complete.
Died about 7-8 times.
Spec in the video description.
Music in the video ending.

Second boss (Spider boss) probably was the most intense fight I ever had in any game. 30 minutes to kill where any error could mean dead.

3. Don’t tell me to reroll, and don’t tell me the other professions don’t have “greener grass.” I play those classes. And I play guardian. And I LIKE guardian. That does not mean the other professions don’t have an advantage in terms of elite skills. The Warrior Juggernaut elite, which changes their weapon skills and locks their utilities, is very similar to the Guardian tomes. One difference is, Juggernaut buffs damage, while the tomes buff health. Another difference? Juggernaut grants Stability for the full duration, the tomes grant protection or regeneration, which is completely worthless, because even someone up at four in the morning and half asleep can see a Guardian suddenly stop moving around and start posing, and think “Hey, I need to interrupt that guy in the next six seconds” and then do it. Or Lich Form, which grants—hey—stability. Tornado? Stability. Rampage as One? Stability. PLAGUE? STABILITY. Every single elite that locks you into a form without your utility skills grants stability except the Guardian’s. Rampage as One isn’t even a transformation, it doesn’t lock you out of anything, but it still gives the Ranger and their pet Stability.

You realize the only transform skill that is actually worthwile is the Lich form? And it’s only if you are in a full direct damage build on the profession made for condition damage???
And for the love of god… tornado hit for up to 1k in crit with a gear that would allow you to throw 10k with meteor shower.
You havn’t played other profession at all if you believe their elites are better.
Juggernaut on a warrior is pure garbage. It make you big and useless because NO it doesn’t buff your damage. You deal near to no damage. Only good thing about it is the stomp move that you can get as a utility.

Change Mirror Blade to bounce between foes only.

Don’t see where the problem is.
This game isn’t about being selfish. It’s about playing with other players. And 3 might does far more then an extra damage bounce will ever do.

Elite: Spirit Armor
Recharges your virtues. For 20 seconds, all allies have Retaliation and armor equal to yours (no effect if armor rating is already higher).

Elite: Spirit Army
Summon all four Spirit weapons. When they reach the end of their lifespan, they automatically activate their “use” ability

Elite: Reversal of Fortune
For 20 seconds, any time you would be affected by a condition, you are affected by a random boon instead. Converts all existing conditions to boons.

I still say Renewed Focus is not to be underestimated, though.

All the elites for guardian are fine. Don’t like it? Reroll. Other professions grass ain’t greener.

As for the projectile, you can easily stack on your target with a root… T_T
Don’t ask for a change to a unique ability to become exactly like a warrior 2 1 hand axes #5 skill (forgot the name).
If you can’t use it right, don’t use it.

And one last time to make sure people understand… ROOOOOOOOOOOOOT (Or stun for all that it matters)

You can play like if there was a trinity you know… The difference is… you’ll have to work hard to make it work.
Unlike games with actual trinity like WoW… where you could just taunt or use 2 or 3 abilities that generate a billion threat to tank and an healer that just sit and spam some heals on people and look more at his add on then the game itself.
In Guild wars 2, a “tank” is someone who’s gonna make sure the mobs doesn’t get to it’s allies. A player can pretty much block the mobs path by simply staying between them and their focused target. A player can pull, knockback, launch, stun, etc… A player can deal damage. So much ways to get the mobs attention. Because yes, that’s how you get agro in this game. By being their #1 THREAT!!!
Not threat like a number you stack by pressing 2, 3 and 6.
No! Threat like someone who is threatening!
When the mobs have a player blocking their way or pushing them around with pulls and knockbacks, they will end up attacking that player. Especially if the player deal damage to them (obviously).
Or a mob might just focus on one player because his damage is so kitten high and refuse to focus anyone else even if they block his path, CC him like crazy… because the real threat is the squishy DPS that deal massive damage.
That’s how you need to think…
Focus target one mob at a time and let your “tank” deal with the rest of them. If you don’t deal damage to other mobs they won’t consider you a threat. And CCing 1 mob is pretty easy. So just focus CC DPS one mob down at a time away from the “tank” and rest of mobs.
Having a support healer with you makes it so much easier in every ways.

I’m running elem support heal with a guardian tank and rogue pure DPS daggers, necro condition/support and hunter pure DPS long/shortbow. And guess what… there is always one mobs running around the rogue, necro and rogue away from… the guardian tanking all the rest away from the group. Then there is me… bouncing between the group and the “tank”. Offering my heals, my combo fields, buffs, AoE damage, CC, slows and other supportive stuff.

And it is so simple to do… the rogue scorpion wire a mob out of the pack then the guardian block their way and get their attention. As simple as that…
Of course it won’t work for every pull. Since some pull require special tactics. (IE the group of 3 knights in TA that require a massive amount of slows and CC at 900 range+)

8k HP is 80% of an elementalist base health pool at level 80. That’s too much for a game where there is no “healer”. I’m fine with having one combo at a time. And I never have trouble doing my combo blast heals on allies. I do have problem healing people in melee because of the gazillions of combo field there is in melee…

I don’t know if it should be in tech support or game bugs but here what happens…
Sometimes (10% of the time) when I type in chat and send the message, the game will freeze and I can’t do nothing but Ctrl Alt Del to shut down the game…
Is there a way to fix this because it’s starting to get real annoying…

Even if it’s the first or latest, an auto attacking 2 hander guardian will simply negate most of the time. Or a random field from any random ability that applies a random field. Or a delayed field… etc…
It HAS to be by prioritizing which one is the best.

Title says it all… Trying to use blast finishers in my water fields from my ele staff but there is always a light combo field from the guardian that is stacked over it because they have so many of them…
Same goes with nearly every combo fields from other classes.

I wish water was always the first chosen combo field for combos (blast finishers at the very least). Since that combo is clearly the best combo in game right now. (AoE heal)
Compared to a very short retaliation… Even worst, loosing my water field to the necro wells for… area blind… on bosses. Now that is the biggest waste in the universe. Valiant negating 90% of the blinds. Even worst in Sorrows embrace. T_T

I understand there should not be a multiple combo from one finisher like stacking a water, fire and light for 3 might, heal and retaliation at the same time. But please… for the love of all that is holy… Make it so water goes first…
imo, it should be
Water ­­> Smoke > Ethereal > Ice > Light > Fire > Lightning > Poison > Dark
Would make much more sense to me then wasting all thoses finishers. As much as we can be organized and not stack our fields… lot of combo fields come out of auto attacks or things we will stack for efficiency purpose…

I did Caudecus Manor with a group of level 4x, 5x with only me at level 80 and they were having no problem handling themselves. No one shot ever. I think only one of them died once. Of course I was there with my level 80 but in the end, everything is doable and actually easy for anyone that bother to do more then press 1 2 and 3 like in WoW.
And for builds… 0/10/0/30/30 is my build for PvE because I like it. I could run 10/10/10/10/15 for all it matter. (And yes it actually work. And it’s a very good build when using a mix of every stats)

The Project Alpha boss was the problem. The arcane prison (or w/e they call it) could force you to be killed if you ended up being the lucky one to get trapped right after he use his double AoE. Rezzing you is nearly impossible without a rez spell. I found the boss really fun to do and it’s the kind of things I wanna see in a dungeon, big AoE to avoid or get one shotted or nearly one shotted. Just not the forced to be killed by a mechanic you cannot avoid.
Didn’t try the nerfed version of it. I hope they didn’t nerf it to the ground since I love the fights a lot.

I don’t think it’s mostly for that reason, because bad players can be every professions.
I’d say that because in sPvP elementalist are a free kill 99% of the time and there is so many QQ threads about how UP elementalist are, people believe that elementalist are gonna be crap in PvE. Hell… people even ask for a buff to elementalist in PvE… The elementalist forum is a sad place I tell you.

It is possible to pull only the hunter and not the devastator (not sure of the name, the one with the 2 handed hammer).
If you pull the 2 bosses and run toward entrance, when they loose agro, the hunter stay where he lost agro while the devastator just go away to it’s original position. Making the boss fight very very easy with only 1 boss to kill at a time.
I got this bug while trying to solo it for fun. Needless to say it was easy to solo it with that bug.

The problem is the swarms and the knockdown. Even if I manage to dodge his breath 15 times in a row as soon as I fail to dodge it I die from being eaten alive by the 100 mobs following me.
The power/thoughness buff doesn’t help either.

So I tried to solo Arah explorable on the forgetten path. Manage to get up to the Giganticus lupus. (Third boss that every path lead to.) This boss isn’t soloable in any ways.

Like I said somewhere else, they could make an AI as good as they can, they’ll still be left with a pattern that can be easily beaten in some way.
It require something specifically made to require more then 1 person to do (IE, opening the door in Arah story mode for the first boss) to stop people from soloing something unless you simply take too much damage without possibility to avoid it..

Have you played anything other then elementalist to say that?
I play mesmer at 80 too and my bars feel so empty and lacking PvE wise I don’t feel like playing anything but elementalist.
It’s not because warrior can faceroll thru level 1 to 60 by auto attacking that it means it’s better. I’m sorry but warrior can’t DPS half of the fights because they are stuck with trying to survive unless they go for gun in which case their damage is nothing but impressive.
I don’t die easily in dungeons. Not at all. I usually find it boring that I can just stand and take the hits and still heal thru it. Elementalist have it’s issues and it’s not in PvE.

What you’re showing isn’t proof of the power of elementalist, it’s proof of a flaw in the AI of the enemies. The other professions could do the same thing (only much better).

There is no such thing as an AI on NPC that can’t be predictable. Once you know their patterns and behavior it can be easily beaten by using what’s at your disposal to win.
An elementalist isn’t lacking in PvE at all. We have so many combos it makes elem a must have in PvE for the crazy amount of possibilities it open to the group. Our damage is on par with everyone else since the NPCs arn’t running around like headless chicken making our delayed spells miss more then hit.
Now care to explain me how other professions can do better then us in PvE?
Last I check, any professions get hit as hard as I do in PvE on my elementalist if not more since I have tanky gear.
sPvP on the other hand is where elem is lacking. The delay and AoEs doesn’t match go hand in hand with the fast-paced action of sPvP. And also because we have the lowest base health pool in the game with thiefs and guardians but we don’t have the evades/stealth of the thiefs or the block/reflect/armor of guardian we die way too easily.

Some people turn down elementalist because elem is subpar in sPvP. But theses people usually never make it far in dungeons. I know elem is the best support in the game. Elem is probably the best for PvE in the game because of all the different combos it offer.

Musics are at the end of the video, the first music is “Cowboys Fringants : Paris – Montréal”.
My spec is 0 fire/10 air (III)/0 earth/30 water (I, V, IX)/30 arcane (V, VIII, XI).

Nah that subject alpha boss is easy too. Just can’t be soloed. His AoEs are extremely easy to avoid and you just need 1 or 2 defensive to survive in the arcane prison if your group does their job no one should die on the encounter.

So if you can’t solo them does that means the dungeon is hard enough?

All dungeons are easy imo. Just need a group of people that know what they are doing and work well together and everything is a breeze.

I’ll be trying to solo other dungeons and paths but some won’t be possible (CoE with the 5 billion health pool boss that freeze you in an arcane prison can’t be done without a teleport every 15-20 seconds)

To all thoses saying elementalist suck in PvE, here’s the proof it doesn’t.
Elementalist suck in PvP because the play style do not work against humans only against AI and our baseline survivability is extremely poor.

Because elementalist got 20 weapons skills and need their skills to be subpar.
Just do the maths.
20 skills with 50% effectiveness = 10 skills with 100% effectiveness.
So downed skills need to be 50% as effective as other professions downed skills. Else it would be twice more powerful then other professions and make the game unfair for players who arn’t playing elementalist.

Funny part is… I’m pretty sure mostly everyone who say elementalist is fine believe this… Because more buttons to press make global cooldown faster.

Anyways… elementalist downed state is fine. Other professions downed states need their #2 changed to something as useless as elementalist #2 downed skill.
This or completly remove downed state in PvP.

You only have to be level 1 to do sPvP. Usually, everyone got a PvE character as their main. Mostly warrior because… because it’s a warrior.

Weapon swapping feels useless.

Is it only me or does it feels like to win in PvP you HAVE to go for the one weapon build?

It goes for every classes…

Warrior
Nearly all of them go for greatsword and barely swap weapon in a fight unless it’s to oh crap shield block. Same with two handed hammer and rifles.

Ranger.
Use a bow or axe and swap only to use sword and dagger for the 2 dodges abilities.

Necromancer
Most of them use scepter and auto attack. The offhand weapon is usually only for 1 or 2 spells and they never stay in it.

Mesmer
Probably the only profession that make good use of weapon swapping because they need phantasms as much as possible and you get 1 per weapon.

Thief
… daggers … (Or sword/pistol with quickness for pistol whip)

Elementalist
50% of the traits benefit only 1 attunement and other attunements are used mostly for 1 or 2 spells then they switch instantly. At least elementalist benefit from attunement swapping a lot because all their spells are so crappy they need to use the 20 of them to make something barely worth it.

Guardian
Don’t really know for them. The only class I didn’t play much.

Engineer
Well they have no weapon swapping… And they use a kit only if they specced for it and they won’t use their main weapons if they specced for a kit…

Basically what I want to point out is that so many traits and poor synergy between weapons makes weapon swapping a very poorly used feature… Why switching to a bow for a warrior when you can just swing that overly boosted greatsword? Since the bow isn’t gonna do anything because you have no traits in it…
Why would an elementalist try to DPS in lightning when only the fire spells get benefit from the traits they chose?
I want to see people who use weapon swapping a lot and wisely rewarded for it… as for now you are punished for swapping out of your main weapon…

Edit : Now I know lot of you are gonna be like “Oh that’s not true I totally use this and this and this with my other weapon!!!” But you still use only one weapon to deal 80% of the job. The other one is only there like… an utility.

Edit 2 : I’ve tried finding builds for most of the professions that would make use of both weapons 50/50 rather then 90/10 but I just can’t do it… It’s either subpar builds that won’t make me win most fights or it still ends up being one weapon rather then both.

My fire 3 skill, the charge, does like 500 – 1k damage because I nearly have no power. That’s why lot’s of times I use it to move quickly and evade attacks or move faster forward.

Of course, there are some mistackes, but gameplay is not perfect yet

Good if you have the trait.
But fire charge is 3 attacks in one.
You get a hit for passing thru someone. The blast finisher damage and the burning effect on top of it.
So whatever the build you use, in the end it’s always the highest damaging ability you get with main hand dagger.
I still believe signet of fire isn’t worth it. Might wanna try glyph of elemental harmony. You’ll pull out much more damage in the end with it (The effect doesn’t change when you swap attunement. If you use the glyph in fire, it’s 30 seconds of chance to burn and that whatever the attunement you are in. Using it in lightning is also very good as weakness is probably the best condition out there and is usually hard to find a build with lot of weakness.

You are a good elementalist but there is much you can improve…

First of all, I didn’t watch your traits and gear but what I can tell from the video…

You use signet of heal and fire without the master trait that keep the passive after activating signet. Without that trait, the signet of heal is the worst heal you can use. Signet of fire doesn’t give enough benefit without the trait by itself to be more useful then Glyph of elemental harmony or cleansing fire (especially on a D/D build having you even more in melee)
You find people who are obviously terrible. Especially that mesmer who don’t seems to know what his abilities do and even less how to use shatter.

You waste your fire charge. It’s your highest hitting ability in D/D. Why using it to move slightly away?

That being said all I can add is this.

I’m not impressed by teleport churning earth like everyone seems to be in this thread.
It’s nothing new or special. Just knowing out of global can be used while channeling is enough to know teleport churning earth work that way. I’ve killed plenty of people using churning earth teleport arcane wave. The part where I think you failed is that you don’t teleport ON them, wasting the teleport damage.

Last I check I can rack up the kills with my staff in open field…
Don’t need that wall you are talking about.

Plus I find it more useful to tank many people in a support/tank build to allow the less tanky people kill people smashing on you or siege weapons to clean the stuff.

Staff is way more powerful in close quarter then D/D. Sadly.

+ there is nothing funnier then a Power crit damage precision staff elem that use fire storm with glyph of storm and glyph of elemental power combined with sigil of fire (AoE fire blast on crit) and 33% burning on crit trait.
Funny as hell.

If they allowed healing seed to remove conditions with the trait it would make sylvari better then other races. Which isn’t supposed to happen… Racials are meant to be less powerful then professions abilities.

10 water for cantrip regen/vigor, 10 earth for armor of earth at 50% health. Use vapor form, teleport and cleansing fire. 10 in fire for 3 stack of might on cantrip. 10 in arcane for boon on attunement, glyph of heal for a boon depending on attunement.

The difficulty was this was in quite shallow water just enough to submerge. So visibility due to camera angles and room to move was very small. I still couldnt tell you what the animation looked like in this case. This was in EB.

You can tell i dont do the ruins fight in capricorn map in spvp to recognise this attack. Might have to make an ele up to test out the range on this and its animation.

But still can someone tell me if the numbers i listed above could get there with spec/gearing? If so what gear/spec?

I would like to rule out the first “jump-to” conclusion before i email off the screenies to the anet people.

full berserker exotic level 80 gear.

Which means about +100% crit damage, massive amount of power and precision.

Seems about right to me considering a warrior can hundred blades for almost 20k with the same stats.

Whirlpool being a massive cooldown and an elite skill. I believe it’s more then fine. Just get out of water or move away from it.

Anyways, you had orb of powers. Probably 2 or 3 which gave you a major boost in there. Fighting lower levels too. And fighting mostly only terribad players. The amount of micro management you did was impressive. Keeping in mind that evasive arcana and attunement swapping minor traits require melee gave you the edge for sure.
But that’s the exact problem that make elementalist so weak… we HAVE to be in melee. It doesn’t matter our weapon or build. Too much things rely on being in melee for elementalist. And yet we have the lowest healthpool and thoughness we can get in the game.
That’s where the major problem is at. Yes our damage is low. But that’s countered by having so much attacks, combos and being direct and condition damage at the same time. And yet we still lack in damage compared to what other professions can offer.
In terms of damage, the reward for being good is poor, the reward for being great is low and the reward for mastering elementalist is still under where it should be.
In terms of defense, the reward for any kind of play is mediocre. And just to make sure we are even more defenseless we get the worst possible down state ever.

I mean come on… we have the best underwater elite skill in the game. Even tho that’s our only good skill.

+ we have the highest amount of CC underwater. 2 sink, 1 float, 1 stun. We have a criple, burning, bleeding, AoEs, charge, pull to target, 2 blinds, chill, teleport… what else do you want? wow… We even have the damage we are supposed to have on thoses abilities. Unlike out of water where our damage is subpar.
Just try using 2 and 4 on fire with a 5 from lightning then charge in with a 2 from water sink them with 4 then chill blast them with a double 3 then throw your 2 and sink them with 4 in earth.

I don’t know why, but forums are always filled with QQs and nerf posts…
And in the end theses posts are always wrong.
But for elementalist, the forums are filled with Elem are fine posts. And guess what… THEY ARE WRONG.
Put it in any ways you want. Elem can only play 3 builds right now. D/D Fire/Earth. Staff Water/Arcane. S/D Fire/Earth.
And theses 3 builds are more then subpar. With our 10k base health and light armor. It’s so easy to kill us it’s stupid. If we get thoughness we get no health and die in seconds. If we get vitality we get no thoughness and die in seconds. If we get both, we get no damage.
Our base HP needs to be increase by 50% (15k) and our damage need to be buffed on MANY abilities. Missile speeds and cast time for many abilities need to be increased. We need less delayed spells and more instant hits.
You can be as skilled as you want on an elementalist, you’d do much better on every other classes with the same amount of skills.

The only actual way to play an elem to be on par with other professions is support staff water/arcane. But you need to hope your team is not filled with dumbarses.
