I think the traps are there more to counter veiling of zergs than to counter invidual thieves…
Nope. You’re telling me someone is going to run out in front of their zerg to drop a trap on a group that just veiled? Wow great, you just revealed them .00005 seconds earlier.
Unless this is something that is “built” around the keep(as an upgrade), then it’s going to be only used for combating thieves. There is ZERO point to use it in an anti-veil mechanic. You already saw them. You saw them veil. It doesn’t take much IQ to figure out what’s going to happen soon.
As for the traps that remove supply: that’s less of an issue, but still a stupid decision. It will only further encourage zerg behavior, especially depending on the “cap” for the supply removal. If it’s ~10 per trap, you’d have to be an idiot to run in a havoc squad or try to ninja keeps, as you would basically lose all your supply if you ran over it. Whereas if you were in a zerg, 10 people losing supply isn’t as big of an impact.

WvW = S/D + D/P (sometimes SB)
PvE = S/D + P/PI find that this build is more flexible to what I do everyday I log in. I can bring this to WvW, dungeons, daily chore, etc.
15 in SA is the one the gives flexibility. When fighting melee, I can switch up to Cloaked in Shadows. When fighting Condi, I can switch up to Shadow’s Embrace. If I want to dance with someone, I can switch up to Infusion of Shadows.
I’m highly interested in the stats that you used for this build, because I would also like to maintain a versatile build for both PvE and WvW.
What are the minimum defensive stats that you aim for when you are in WvW?
(PvE not really a concern, because engagements are quite predictable.)I was thinking of aiming for 17k health and 2.4k armor, do you think it’s too defensive?
Less health and more toughness IMO. Remember, you will be getting WvW bonuses on top of whatever your “base” hp is. I’m running a similar stat distribution/build and I’m @ ~16.5k hp w/ 2.75k armor.
So what’s the reasoning behind “the great dump”? Is it just a bunch of casual players who don’t watch the market, and assume price will be highest at the end of the month…for whatever reason?
In essence, yes. It’s basically the less informed people who don’t spend much time with the game just wanting to make a quick few gold, so they “dump” it at whatever the current rate is(even if it stinks).
Infinite Light, among other weapons, still needs an icon to distinguish it from regular non-unique weapons.
Gotta love the posts that start with hyperbole and end with “oh what I meant by dying is that activity is decreasing”…gee such an insightful topic OP.
Please refrain from further making posts where the sole purpose is to say “well we are going to move to X MMO”. No one here cares if you are moving on to ES:O. Really. We do not care. If you think that janky looking game will be the future of MMOs for you, then go right ahead. But mark my words: in 6-9 months after release, you’ll find someone making the EXACT same post you did OP, saying the EXACT same things, but this time it will be about ES:O.
Everyone should know by now that MMOs have a fairly rocky playerbase(at least during the first year). You should also know by now that GW2 has no sub. So go ahead and play something else if you are feeling things getting stale(which it sounds like you are). Come back if you want when another patch/expansion hits and test it out.
No one is keeping you here OP…no one but yourself.
To answer bluntly: because a lot of Ranger players are just plain bad/unawares of what is going on during a fight(tunnel vision). Beyond that, if we are talking roaming/havoc, they can be quite a nuisance not only to us but to other group members(lots of cripples/locks/etc).
My thoughts: the greatsword skin will see a “peak” of around 100g towards the end of the month. The week or two after this(when the skin is no longer farmable) will see probably another 10-20g increase. After this it will be fairly static, with a perhaps slight increase over time.
But yes, someone is definitely manipulating the market, as things don’t just jump from 35g to near 70g overnight.
I just think it is a bit ironic so many high and mighty souls are on here trumpeting the cause of those NA/SA/Canadian peoples stuck in queues and unable to play all this time before the change, while telling others that just because you were able to get into WvW during the previous reset times, you should be grateful and just learn to like the fact that you can’t now but your server-mates can.
Instead you now point the finger at people that find themselves in a similar boat that you were once in, you have have turned a 180 at the hypocritical speed of light and went on the defensive, when in reality everyone on these forums knows this is ANET’s mess….But you are too worried about yourselves to point the issue to where it should be.
So keep going on about how “NA” people should not be selfish, all the while being selfish in your quest to keep your new fangled reset time lol.
In closing, again: not mad at all about the reset because it does not affect me, just pointing out the hypocrisy on display…And I did not name, names….so if you get on here flaming me we will know your guilty conscience is shining through.
Nice try, especially that last bit. Except we’re talking about something that’s good for our community as a whole (and pointing out that the likely impact on your community doesn’t compare to the impact that the reset time had on ours), while some (but not all) NA people are just griping about what fits themselves as individuals.
Oh please, that’s EXACTLY what you were doing too.
When we usually run with a force of 40+ on reset and hear that 15-20 won’t be able to make the new reset times…yea that isn’t good for the community.
This is a STUPID STUPID move and will lead to a HUGE loss of members. Please remove the statement “this benefits everyone” from the login screen, as this benefits pretty much ONLY EU/Oceanics. PST is hit hardest, then CST and then EST; pretty much all of NA is going to take a huge hit. People are either still at work(PST), just getting off work(CST/EST), or starting to eat dinner(EST). Good luck getting participation from the major guilds(those that SUPPORT your WvW) with this move.
T1 especially is going to be hit hard by this, although one of the servers won’t be hit as hard(JQ). My guild is looking at losing probably 30-40% of our numbers on reset night at least for the first 3-4 hrs(assuming a 2hr q). That basically cuts our playtime on reset by more than 60%(we will be fielding way less numbers and probably have people not staying on as long due to q times).
Oh well, this is what you get when you don’t properly plan things before you create them.
I really REALLY hope this is split times(which it ALWAYS should have been: euros on euro time, na on na time), because if it isn’t…well then I’m probably done with the game. It would mean 3pm reset time for us on the West Coast, which means I’m still at work, which means I wouldn’t get into q for probably 2-3hrs…after I get home which is 5pm…basically never then. Same goes for East Coast: this would switch at the time most are getting home from work/eating dinner…
you’re from a professional esports team and can’t figure out some good wvwvw builds?
uuhhhhuuummm…
+1
Found this hilarious as well. Nowadays everyone is part of an eSports team…
Maybe use the “guide to thief guides” thread…it has PLENTY of WvW centric builds, search these forums, or go back on Google and look again(trust me: there are plenty of builds out there). Or…you being a hot shot eSports player…why don’t you theory craft a build that works for your own playstyle?
If we do this, then we need a way to vote people out of the BL.
I’d rather have an active member of a guild(one who uses server comms etc) take a 30 minute afk(and thus a q spot), than have someone in the JP wasting a q spot.
Ahhh I’ve been wanting a Longbow build for awhile, so thank you for posting this.
Yeah…. again…. turning off autocast isn’t a solution. Why should a weapon be forced to take a substantial DPS hit just to use viably? No other weapons require that kind of sacrifice.
This is an issue that needs to be addressed by Anet, they effectively have a broken weapon floating around out there. Locking a player to a mob doesn’t work with the type of combat present in GW2.
What DPS hit? I can spam it just as much as auto, while still having the ability to disengage at will. Have fun being stuck in constant animation cycles.
This whole dye discussion is stupid and pointless. Having to buy colors in the shop is lame. Dyes not being account-wide is lame. In WvW your armor is red green or blue anyway, so thats lame. In PVE nobody even looks at you anyway, except you looking at yourself. Anet should just make the whole colorpallet available for everyone, for free and be done with it.
Yet another misinformed comment on WvW coloring: go to your in-game options, change the dropdown for team colors(none, enemies only, or everyone).
~9.5k w/ GS and WW is about the max I’ve hit solo with limited buffs(no 25 stacks etc). In parties (CoF etc) I’ve hit near to what the OP posted.
Guardian can definitely do pretty good DPS.
Hop on gw2buildcraft and input both setups; compare the outcomes. My input: go with more precision. ~40% is the sweetspot for Guards from my experience. Have you tried food too?
Best advice is make sure you have piercing and dual-bow. Pop LB #5, #2 + quickening, swap to SB and just run through the zerg spamming #1+#2 whenever off CD. And that’s with a mostly GC setup. Before someone says “nah bro you’ll die”: I run with a largeish(40+ at least) group of WELL built/trained people(specific commanders for front/backlines, voice comms, banners, lightning, water fields, blasts, etc). I wouldn’t recommend it with pugs, but with a good group it can absolutely RIP kitten up.
If you’re after bags it’s just about the best way to do it. You might also consider throwing down some traps along the way just for some extra tagging dmg, especially on downed players.(traps are a must regardless IMO in WvW, they can decimate zergs if you have enough Rangers, and they are SUPER helpful in denying entrance to an enemy keep).
That said, it still won’t approach the bags you can attain by playing Guard or Necro. Guard staff = CRAZY bag returns(5 players hit per swing vs a Ranger who has to swap targets quick to maximize overall lootbags). I’ve had near 90%+ bag returns since the loot tagging patch(on my Guard vs ~40% on my Ranger). The other thing is that it doesn’t seem to require as much dmg while using staff: a couple hits(less than 2 seconds) means a definite 5 bags; the same can’t be said for my Ranger. As well, the Ranger playstyle naturally leans towards static positioning(and will actually help with faster bag collection at your feet); the downside is that unless you are using LB, you will be limiting the distance(and thus lootbags) you can reach. With Guard, you can just charge forward with the frontline while spamming auto, and then train back after you wipe them for your bags(which you will get more of due to your mobility).
KZ’s build above is another alternative and would likely work much better if you don’t play with a large/organized group(aka: pugs). It also looks more forgiving for a new player/someone wanting to try out another way of getting bags without a “skillcap”.
(edited by somsom.5201)
2 Abyss (found both in the past 2 months)
3 Celestial (found 2 on a lowbie right near launch)
I used to run it WAY WAY WAY back near launch with a full condi build. It was fun for awhile, but I honestly wouldn’t recommend it anymore, as other classes can apply those condis harder/faster than we can.
OBVIOUSLY Detcelfer has never come out of the mists and tried a dungeon, he would rather play a terribly underpowered class in there rather than just create an elem level 1 and be viable… I have 4 level 80 characters and the warrior is my main, I can probably play my warrior better than you in PVE, and the DPS I do compared to other classes is over the roof, I tried everything and I can’t even reach 70% of my warriors DPS, I don’t think that’s fair.
If you think that warrior’s DPS shouldn’t be nerfed because they lack PVP utility then I’m sorry but you’re wrong.
I love my warrior, but I want to play a balanced game. Do you even know how lategame is for other classes in terms of PvE, they level to 80 just to find that people won’t take them and go out of their way to get some more warriors and guardians in the party, cause that will ensure faster runs and less wipes.
And what about CoF? I have an army of friends who rolled a warrior cause the best money making is brainless warrior CoF farming, and that’s not PvP, you actually have to invest time and money to get to 80. Why people feel forced to ditch their level 80 rangers and necros and level warriors? It’s happening all over the place, is this intended gameplay?
hahaha what? I’ve had ZERO issues running any of my 5 80s (Guard, Warrior, Necro, Ele, Ranger) in dungeons or fractals. Some people want totally optimal groups for ONE dungeons(CoF); other people don’t mind spending an extra minute or two doing the same run.
Relax bro. Warriors don’t need nerfs.
The new guild shield(from commendations + gold) is pretty slick, as well the new 8bit super shield is pretty cool(who knows if we can keep those items though).
As for a mace, the skin you can get from GW1 rewards is pretty slick and fits well with a gold look.
I’m thinking of recruiting based on achievement points, 4000+ or go home.
This is actually what I look for. If the player has less than 1500-2K, I become highly concerned that they do not have the experience to understand how the mechanics of a boss/fractal works and ask upfront if they have done this before.
If a player has 4k+, I know that 99% of the time, they are probably a fine contribution with whatever class they are playing.
Yup, I follow this logic as well when playing recently. I especially get nervous when I see people in my CoF groups with less than 1000 achievs. That’s usually a flag right there that they don’t even know how to enter dungeons.
Oh. I thought you were going to say bags.
- Equip staff
- Profit from bags
also base stats would help a little, mesmers get a triat that increases stats while wearing a certain weapon, example, arcana VIII which increases the radius of AoE with staff would also give 100 vit/tough
No thanks. Staff AoE area is a silly trait for WvW, I don’t want to see it become a “necessity” for some 100 vit/tough increase.
Around ~8 on 4 alts, but I don’t really care about this system at all. It shows nothing other than playtime and is pointless for people with alts. Silly system, complete waste of programming time, etc.
Unlikely, it’ll cause a lot of personal story problems.
Which hardly anyone actually cares about, so again, when is it coming? People like to say that it would interfere with the story aspect, but if WoW can accomplish it…
If the individual hasn’t finished the story, just reset them to their current story level, let them pick all the intro things again like when creating a new character, etc. Or, IMO the best approach, just throw all that story stuff out the window and just give it a blank slate(starting from story level 1).
They will never do it in a pack of 6 for the very reason you listed OP: 6 = a full armor set. By setting it at 5, the individual then feels compelled to buy an extra set, which after transmuting a full 6 piece set will leave that said individual now with 4 pieces possible, which would require another pack of fine stones to continue transmuting another full set.
It’s a never ending cycle of purchases.
Gotta laugh at the reasoning ANet gave behind this nerf. Not only do they comment on two aspects of the game(PvP AND PvE, two things which were supposedly SEPARATE), but they addressed BOTH with this update. Instead of taking the time to fine tune BOTH SEPARATE areas, they instead thought it would be a good idea to blanket cover them both with this patch.
Saying you want to “even the playing field” or that quickness didn’t allow people “time to react” is silly: that’s the WHOLE point of the skill…BURST. So much for ANet’s claims of this game being an E-Sport(lol). It’s clear that ANet wants to hold our hands and make things “even” for everyone, regardless of skill or getting the drop on someone. I don’t play those types of games for very long.
ehhh I avoid those groups like the plague. Some of the players are skilled, but more are just bad. Zerker Eles can drop just as much dmg(if not more) than Warriors in CoF; check the Ele forum if you don’t believe me.
Funny how so many here claim its so great. It has stopped very little whenever I have used it. In fact I literally am embarrassed to use it, due to it being so ineffective.
People will run in the bubble only to die.
It isn’t so great for “stopping”. A lot of skills in GW2 aren’t so great for the use stated on the tooltip. It is great for “offensive” usage. If you’re trying to use it for a block or a heal…yea not so great. But using it in a manner not really “intended” makes it quite powerful for knockbacks, area denial, semi-perma stun, etc.
ANet needs better matchmaking, but on top of that, yea I don’t think it would be a bad idea to have something like this in place. Plenty of “competitive” games do it already, why doesn’t ANet? It lets players get a feel for the gametype and weeds out those just wanting to test builds for WvW.
e: sigh, 4 games in a row with sub rank 5’s, players who had no idea what to do in a tournament, let alone their classes in general. Not wasting my time with this kitten.
(edited by somsom.5201)
I agree that the size kind of sucks and that the cd is pretty long, but that said…for those haters, I found a REALLY good use for it lately:
- swap to gs
- drop sanctuary
- spam gs #5
- gs #4
- gs #3
- gs #2
This works INSANELY well for point defense, especially against multiple targets. If you combine it with shield #5 you can pretty effectively hold a point for a LONG LONG LONG time.
Nothing more fun than pulling kittenes into your sanctuary, knocking them down, leaping onto them and then doing some silly dmg while they are downed.
Outside of what I mentioned above I wouldn’t consider using it because it can be incredibly broken in certain cases. However, the technique I use it for works the vast majority of the time(unless I’m facing 2+ Guards with stability :| )
I see an EMP commander saying it wasn’t an even numbered fight. Until he can clarify that CDS won fair and square, I don’t think you should be bragging on the forums.
Yes he could be mad because he lost, but he didn’t do that when EMP lost against VoTF, TW, etc.
No. Watch the video again. The CDS commander did a supply count which showed 14 people around him and if you look at the map, there is one more green dot a bit farther away.
Therefore, the numbers were even and the EMP commander was simply making excuses for the loss.
That only shows living players. It doesn’t include the other half of their guild that was killed.
Right, so the pre-fight supply count somehow had some dead CDS on the ground hiding out waiting to be rez’d mid-fight? lol k
@ 42 secs “110 supply among 15 players” pre-fight
@ the end “110 supply among 14 players” post-fightGotta love the EMP comments about impatience, “setting the field”, 2v1, etc
Numbers were even and they lost. Not sure I get all the drama surrounding this. You win and lose, it is what it is. If you win, act like you’ve been there before and intend to go back. If you lose, lose with grace, learn from your mistakes, say “GG”, and be done with it. Practice what you preach SoR, sportsmanship is a two way street. If CDS is as good a guild as they claim to be, they shouldn’t be estatic about one victory.
The drama is completely one-sided. No one is claiming this is the second coming of Christ or anything. It’s simply a video recording of a GvG match. It just happens that the opposing team decided to talk kitten and act like it wasn’t fair.
I doubt the video was posted to “rub it in”. You can’t fault CDS for responding to comments about having more people(or people making flatout incorrect statements about the actions of the commander tag).
I see an EMP commander saying it wasn’t an even numbered fight. Until he can clarify that CDS won fair and square, I don’t think you should be bragging on the forums.
Yes he could be mad because he lost, but he didn’t do that when EMP lost against VoTF, TW, etc.
Agreed, also your commander with a kitten attitude when i was watching the video and telling him to not look at ur combo lol , ur not patient ..you go in when they are not ready and being all good, not a way to rep ur guild in the forums..sad
Dude, you don’t know HALF the story. They wasted a TON of time kittening about preparedness, setting the field, etc. This is a GvG supposed to represent open field play.
He gave him PLENTY of time to prepare, EMP commander even said 20secs and that time later they both engaged.
Please, come up with more excuses.
Also, don’t even try using that “outmanned” excuse. There are TWO timestamps in the video that CLEARLY show the amount of players CDS was fielding. The pre-fight shows EMP fielding roughly the same.
@ 42 secs “110 supply among 15 players” pre-fight
@ the end “110 supply among 14 players” post-fight
Gotta love the EMP comments about impatience, “setting the field”, 2v1, etc
edit: I went back and counted(as best I could) the EMP numbers: looks like roughly 15. That’s about as “even” as you can get without both sides posting supply count photos on the forums pre-match.
(edited by somsom.5201)
Well what im talking about is if say you sent your buddy 1000g in the mail, i’m sure that would throw a red flag to ANet and they would check both accts or at least the senders acct. Now if you sold an item on the TP for 1000g, that prolly wouldn’t throw up a red flag as that is looked at as a transaction on a broker which sees hundreds or thousands of trasactions. I might be wrong but that’s how i imagine it.
But regardless, as to the OP, not sure why someone would tie up 1000g on the TP when we all know that the guy selling it is not gonna sell it for 1000g.
Bro you don’t know what you’re talking about. Why would ANYONE “sell” Eternity to a gold farmer for 1000g…that makes ZERO sense. They get the 1000g, then expect the gold farmer to send back Eternity? HUGE FLAG there for ANet.
The only method that works for what you mentioned is an item with LOW demand. Someone puts up a buy order for 1000g and someone sells it at that price. We’re talking some item worth less than 5g. Even then, this would have to be done INCREDIBLY fast, so someone else doesn’t sell and screw up the deal.
Best method: make a guild.
I will say that with a straight face, I have never left a match no matter how dire the situation looks, just try to get the best of it, but then again if you don’t want to improve your play, sure keep playing with people who are infinitely worse at playing than you are.
You learn nothing from playing against people with little understanding or who have no idea about their class.
Sure it gives you easy wins, but it does not make you a good player.
All the OP is asking here is that you respect the people who ended up on your team and do your best no matter the odds.
Those who leave show nothing but disrespect to their fellow team mates..
You also learn nothing when your team is full of idiots who try an 4cap something while the enemy is split capping the un-contested other 2 points.
I’m not wasting time with that, sorry. That isn’t an issue with me, it’s an issue with players joining tourny games(or pvp in general) who have NO clue what to do.
Again I would like to point out to everyone that there seems to be a misconception as for your rights as a gamer:
NO!
It is not your right to sign up and waste other peoples time because you could not be bothered playing after all.YES!
It is your right not to sign up at all.And this goes well with my real life philosophy:
No one has the right to waste MY time but me!Which again leads to:
If I sign up, I play, no matter the odds.
lol “rights as gamers”? Yea, lemme go get out my pocket version of the Constitution and double check that. Lets see, that would be under G for Gamers, hmm not seeing anything, probably because you just pulled that kitten out of your kitten
Once again, your “argument” goes both ways: you might think the leaver is wasting your time, but I would say that poor players are wasting MINE. I’m all for helping players learn, but when I consistently join games and people do the SAME THING EVERY GAME? lolno
(edited by somsom.5201)
Best bet is to buy them. @ ~3g you’re looking at 300g for all 100. Just doing simple CoF p1+p2 runs per day(more with alts if you have them available) will net you ~3g per character in under 40 mins. That’s about 9g every 2hrs of play. Assuming you only play 2 hrs a day, making lets round up to 10g…that’s only a month of play. Not a big deal.
FYI: charged lodestones were MUCH MUCH MUCH higher a month or two ago(over 4g), so consider yourself lucky you didn’t craft Infinite Light or Mjolnir back then.
With what we have now? No. In the future with full Ascended vs full Exotics…I’ll just say which one I’d rather have: Ascended.
You can change the stats on it by transmuting. I believe someone already posted somewhere on here that its no longer bugged and won’t read as an Exotic weapon and will still keep the Legendary tag on it if you transmute it and will keep all its special effects and everything. So just find a bow with the stats you want and use a transmutation stone. It used to be bugged for Legendaries if you transmuted and while it would keep the name of it and effect, it would have an orange name and be downgraded to an exotic. They fixed it though and it will keep the Legendary tag now, so you don’t have to worry about losing that if you change the stats.
I think people are worried that if Legendaries do get a stat increase of some sort, that the act of transmuting might kitten it up somehow. Sure, it will still show Legendary type, but will the transmuted stats scale up?
I solo Qed once yesterday and got a full random pug team. We were up against a premade so it didnt look good at first but after a very close fight we squeeked out a tight win!
When people understand that you dont need to have three people capping points and some other basic stuff and playing for the win not playing for your own point total then things go well.
This.
The problem of course is driving the point into their thick skulls that 2 points is better than one(or none in most cases when I solo-q). It’s far better to grab sides, than send 3 to sit in mid and not cap it. Not to mention holding points is far better than farming glory, but that’s what a fair number of these matches turn into.
I will say that the advice above about finding a group of people who consistently play is probably your best bet if you want to keep doing tPvP. The past couple days I’ve probably added ~15 people or so that I’ve played with and done well together; makes it SUPER easy to get a good functional non-“guild” group together.
(edited by somsom.5201)
There are times when I wouldn’t mind having it to check out the “build” someone is running or if someone is leeching with rare MF gear. Then again, I can totally understand the hate it would get from people who don’t particularly want that level of “elitism” in the game.
In the end, I’d have to vote no on it.
Is that worth “losing” a weapon though? I mean, if you’re truly only using it to re-cap a point, is it worth it for that small window? I’d say you’re better off using something you’ll actually use and leave it to an Ele or another Guard(or a Necro etc) to flip the point.
I did the same, then I quit the game.
I feel like there are no real interesting things left for small guilds and small teams to do.
WvW obviously favours larger guilds, GMs are for big guilds by design.Of course, you can PUG Fractals, but why would you? They get boring after just couple times. Small groups have literally nothing immersive.
Pretty much this. The game is becoming a “go big or go home” type game and that is just boring to me. I don’t want to be part of a game that requires players to have to join a 300+ member guild in order to successfully(and quickly) knock out missions to get Ascended tier equipment.
Sorry, but this game suffers from a severe case of “zerg” behavior. Too much emphasis on ‘big’, not enough on the player.
1. by “can” do you mean you can go in and attempt, or that you can complete it? because technically you could enter a dungeon/wvwvw naked. doesn’t mean you’re going to do well.
The only thing I can’t successfully complete using just exotics is Fractals, and that’s because Fractals is never-ending. So I’ll say it again, this time with no ambiguity: There is NOTHING you can successfully complete with full ascended gear that I can’t successfully complete with full exotics.
Or any of the myriad of groups starting to require Ascended gear. We all know that Exotic is a requirement now. To suggest that Ascended won’t be at some point…please, don’t kid yourself.
Have fun trying to re-spec in the future. I hope you enjoy 6 more months of dailies. I sure don’t.
Off I go to do my daily and wait until the next one comes along. Yippee!!! Such fun.
If you don’t enjoy it, then why do it? Oh yeah, gotta keep up with the virtual Joneses. Illogical, but I guess it’s your prerogative.
Considering Ascended is the end tier, then yea, I DO need to keep up with the Joneses. Saying otherwise is silly. But keep deceiving yourself if that’s your idea of fun.
Take this into consideration.
Other games: You need 23+ other guild members to get the end all be all of gear and it takes 4-6 months to fully deck yourself out.
Guild Wars 2: End game content can be done solo without the need of 23+ other guild members to get the gear. It takes 4-6 months to deck yourself out.
I said deck yourself out, not your entire account out. You shouldn’t be able to deck an entire account out in 4-6 months of game play because otherwise companies will lose money. While you might be able to get some pieces in other games you won’t be able to deck more than one fully out unless your guild is led by idiots or it has really kitteny loot drops.
I love this game for the simple fact, I don’t need 23+ other idiots to get the gear I want. I don’t fight over it with a DKP system or lose because of some stupid RnG. I earn it by completing dailies/monthlies, doing guild missions, and no I am not fully decked out in ascended gear and won’t be for a long time.
The biggest selling point of this game is you aren’t fighting 23+ people for the loot you earn. Note: I take 23+ as this is a normal raid system in most other online games. This has been brought down to 10+, but you do not receive the end all be all gear of a game with that little people.
That’s nice and all, but ANet already said that GW2 wouldn’t be “other games”.
Oh well. Guess they lied/forgot to implement the things that make it unique.
Off I go to do my daily and wait until the next one comes along. Yippee!!! Such fun.
All this talk of “b-b-b-but ANet said we would get other ways to obtain them” is just silly. How long has it been now since we had Ascended rings introduced? How long did it take them to give us another method of obtaining them? That’s right. A long time. And what is the end result? Spend more for ONE ring than you do for an amulet. L O L That is just pure genius…
I really feel bad for gamers who think this methodology is “ok”. Sad state of affairs today in gaming.
Ascended gear should be obtainable just like EVERY other piece of gear: multiple ways. Either pay the gold price, the karma price, the dungeon token price, or do the dailies.
Forcing people into ONE or TWO methods of obtaining gear is silly and will ultimately destroy your playerbase. Have fun listening to ANet preach “we’ll have other ways of obtaining soon” until the expansion.
