I’ve had skill lag out the whazzoo since the patch(this game only, not my internet).
Seems like ANet is doing EVERYTHING they possibly can to ruin it for those left.
^ I would go with something along those lines. Either that, or the usual power/pre mix of food with stones/oils.
Please if someone knows the 1 weird trick to burn belly fat please post it because I saw it on a web page but then I didn’t click and I need to burn belly fat and can’t find the ad anymore.
lol
But seriously, I’ve seen a huge influx of players making stupid mistakes lately. yay free tournaments.
Yea, yesterday out of a total of ~40 tournament games I had ~15 games which were straight-up 4v5, dc, afk, etc.
Why ANet does not allow people to join a game in progress(intelligently of course, no joining a match that is more than half over, that is ANNOYING) is beyond me.
It encourages big guilds(read: guilds that constantly spam chat, have 200+ members on at all times, etc), something I’m personally not a fan of.
Same as always. 3 round free tourney.
The problem with that is that those 3 rounds take absolutely AGES to find groups for. I was in queue for well over 2 hrs yesterday trying to find one lol.
Just forget about the pre for awhile? Enjoy another game? If you’re that close, just do something else until the scavenger hunt arrives and the cost of pre’s tanks(or you are able to get one for free).
I could have told you that the MF is kitten, but hardly anyone listens anymore when there are stories out there of people who dropped 4 random lowest rares and got out a ~600g pre.
OP: don’t worry about it. The skins are meh and some actually have WORSE stats than the normal pet skin.
If you seriously CANNOT stand it, then go pick up GW1 and do the required things to get them. Up to you. But I don’t think ANet should just hand them out to people who never completed the req’d HoM levels.
I had to laugh last night @ the all thief p/d pre-made that we faced in tPvP. They were super gimmicky, but managed to keep the score fairly close due to their imba stealth. That said, we had 2 good bunkers on our side and we were able to lock down two points pretty easily and secure the match.
As for the OP: yea, there are definitely more thieves and mesmers lately, but what can you do? ANet refuses to level the playing field for other classes, so either join them, or leave.
I think I’ll give this a shot tonight an see how it works. I’ve been using something similar but with less HP and slightly different traits to good success in WvW; this looks like it might give more survival possibilities.
So given all these buffs, how much damage can say Jaguar’s F2 do against a normal mob? I would guess around 10k or am I way off?
Assuming ideal circumstances, 10k is probably on the low end. I’ve had my Jag hit for 9k before with minimal buffs up(~15 stack of might, hardly any vuln stacks).
There just simply aren’t enough players atm. No joke: Mon-today(Thu) I’ve faced the same groups pretty much 90% of the time during the day. During primetime I usually see a different makeup, but still occasionally get the same group back to back to back etc.
That said, don’t count out “randoms”: I’ve actually had more lucky lately with lower lvls than I have with 30-50 premades.
Because it’s simply a skin. If you wanted a skin + stats…they would be considerably more. On the other hand, if you just offered the skin, people would kitten that they weren’t getting their money’s worth without stats.
Can’t please everyone. If you want the look: buy the gear, transmute it, be done. If you don’t, who gives a kitten?
+1
A rare or a chance at an exotic for rewards(on top of the already present rewards) would be amazing and would likely bring back a number of players.
I was wondering about the increased aoe area traitable in the Arcane line. I rarely use arcane skills favoring cantrips. So, I’m on the fence on spending traits here. Does the larger aoe maintain full dmg over an increased area or does it dilute a set amt of dmg over a larger area?
IMO it dilutes. Some will say it “spreads” your dmg out and thus is better, but when we’re talking zerg v. zerg or keep defense, you want that dmg concentrated in a cluster to NUKE it down.
From an avid WvW’er: I’m honestly getting bored with WvW. There is no real “point” to it anymore, if there ever was. Yes, I know the March update is coming soon, and I will definitely be checking it out, but other than that…WvW is getting just plain stale. The culling, the constant skill lag in higher tiers, lack of progression, zerg play, etc is all just wearing down on not only me, but a majority of the higher tiered servers and their guilds.
Until the update comes out I’ll be spending my time in sPvP, where I’ve found a LOT of enjoyment lately in free tourneys. Not only can you play dress-up from the chests you’ll get, but you can perfect your build, meet new players to bounce ideas off of, etc. sPvP has issues too, but at least it focuses more on build/skill than just outright numbers.
For those saying “don’t just say look it up on Google, post sources”…yea and risk getting banned?
Nevertheless, take a few seconds on Google to look for “gw2 trading post bot”. Those are but a TIP of the iceberg(check the lowest result, 1st page, blue eye). There are PLENTY of un-listed results(read: from well known hacking/exploiting forums that require registration).
Astute observation. I get really nervous when a longbow/brown bear ranger joins us for a PUG dungeon.
haha as do I. When I see one I usually think about alt-tabbing back to GW2LFG to find another group.
Sword IMO is probably THE best “escape/evasion” weapon Ranger has available. The amount of confusion you can create with your “whirling” about, plus the reverse-jump ability = CRAZY utility.
Ever thought that there is another person, or heck a dozen more people out there who think just like you and are trying to make money on the TP with your methods?
Why do you automatically assume that there are ‘bots’ on the outpost.
Because there ARE bots(more specifically scripts) running off the TP. Do some Google searches and you’ll find LOTS of discussion and ACTUAL working versions of TP selling scripts.
It’s incredibly obvious with some of the more plentiful markets: you put up a HUGE stack of the item and within seconds(seriously, seconds) the price you listed is undercut by 1c. You can say this is just a player…but it takes TIME to sell all those stacks and this happens TIME and TIME again.
AFAIK, ANet hasn’t really touched much on the subject, as the TP in reality is just a simple webapp overlaid into the game(you can visit the TP via a browser outside of the game once you’ve found the link/your account info/session id/etc).
It happens with just about EVERY other MMO, so to say it does not happen in GW2…is simply being facetious.

Hey John, can you tell me the current ecto rates when salvaging rares, depending on the salvage kit used?
I could, I won’t.
What are you saying, that the 25% and 50% listed on masters kits and BLS kits don’t directly translate to ectos?
They definitely don’t. ANet made some tweaks recently to the ecto drop rate, either that, or they flagged one of my characters to have HORRID RNG. I went from getting 75% minimum ecto return to getting below 25%(before: salvaging 10 would get me ~8, now: salvaging 10 gets me ~3).
+1 on conjured weapons. A fair number of ele players totally neglect/forget them, but they are easily one of the fastest ways to clear mobs as a lowbie.
I went with Berserkers armor, Berserkers weapons, and PVT trinkets. Build is your standard 30/30/0/10/0, although I have tried swapping some into Arcane/Water, but the benefits weren’t many(imo) for the dmg I lost.
It requires a lot of concentration and a fairly good group of people playing alongside you, but the rewards… kitten SOOO much dmg. Works well in dungeons too, super easy and quick nuking.
Pro tip, on malchor’s leap there is an area where risen chickens sometimes spawn in numbers, if you fail the destroy the coups event then eventually four vet chickens will spawn. DO NOT KILL THESE as they allow the chickens to constantly spawn.
Chickens are fast easy kills that hold great loot and respawn very quickly. You will very quickly fill your inventory and you always get a handful of T6’s from them.
Noooo, our secret hunting spot, lol. You’re just having bad RNG. I opened 75 Heavy Moldy bags last night and got about 28 T6 mats in total. If anything, let your alts open the bags if you suspect your main is running into a streak of bad rng. Its superstitious but hey, it helps ease the mind, lol.
I started doing that with my CoF ectos and…it worked. I honestly think ANet has some form of widespread DR that is character flagged and sometimes it doesn’t get unflagged. For the past two weeks I was getting lower than 25% return on ectos: meaning if I salvaged 20 pieces of armor I was getting less than 5 out of it. Switched to my alts this week…return is back above 75% on average(what it had been).
We already have this… :P
Seriously, don’t forget about our conjured weapons. Lots of talk recently about specific builds focused around them, maybe check out one of them to see if you like it.
Yea I’ve got 2 characters ready for this…so what’s the hold-up? We already know that name changes are possible for vulgar names…so why is it taking this long? This is EASY money ANet…lets go!
ANet must have nerfed the drop rate(I know they did from personal story rewards). I can understand why: it is definitely top 5 most profitable items on the TP for them.
Who cares if something can be done more easily or more “efficiently” somewhere else ?
Selling worthless dungeon drops and buying jute scrap to complete the daily “salvage” goal is a bit “too much” from my point of view. People doing that will waste 5mn to save 2 silvers. Who cares about 2 silvers ? The exact same 5mn that make people whine about the dailies, complaining it’s a big time sink…
All I’m saying is that even when playing dungeons or WvW players have plenty of opportunities to complete 80% of their dailies for free.
But not doing so, and trying to “optimise” the play time and trying to do these activity elsewhere, it then becomes a chore and a waste of time ; this is a great example where trying to optimise things too much is actually counterproductive.
If people were doing these as they play what they like, there would be much less complains on the forums.
Sorry, but the REASON I’m doing it like that, is because I want to be able to play how I want, which is by NOT doing dailies. Yet, I’m FORCED to daily to get ascended gear(which I need for WvW/dungeons). In other words: kitten it all.
Some one need to stop holding guns to ppl heads because that the only way some one can force you to do any thing (i know there more things but its the best way of putting this). Your not forced to do a thing stop pretending your some type of victim its your own chose what you work for not Anets.
Not really. Ascended is the new exotic. How can we get Ascended? Some from fractals(already had this AGES ago), some from dailies, now some from guild missions.
See the problem? It’s all hidden behind gates. I’d be perfectly fine if it was like a legendary and required lots of mats/gold. Don’t have that? Then go waste your time waiting a month for the daily version.
And yes, it IS required. Obviously you don’t play at a high level or you would know that there is a LEGIT stat increase via Ascended gear(aferall, ANet themselves said it is the CURRENT MAX tier).
Who cares if something can be done more easily or more “efficiently” somewhere else ?

Dailies are grind now? They are so easy to complete now…
It’s a grind doing kitten I don’t want to do, yet I’m FORCED to do if I want to be competitive. Content gating ftfl
without dailies any hardcore player could be in BiS gear in less than a week easily, and then have nothing to do. It took me 2 days to go from my 1st lvl 80 to being in all exotic gear, about 5 days to have all the dungeon skins I wanted. The sad truth is there is really no endgame in gw2, there is 0 incentive to bring your realm glory in WvWvW by defeating the other 2 realms. The fractal “infinite” dungeon doesn’t get any harder with each successive level rather it just add artificial difficulty via agony (would it of been so hard to change the fight/level mechanics each tier and then scale damage and resists for those 10 levels?) oh and agony resists are based off of your RNG on getting loot.
Bullkitten. Gearing is not “something to do”. It’s a waste of kittening time. Doing dailies is a waste of 10-20 minutes and is boring as kitten.
Playing the game is what I want to do and I’m hardcore as kitten. I’m not going to stop WvWing or dungeoning once I get full gear(I didn’t stop once I got full exotics so your point is kittening kitten).
It’s a time gate. That’s all. They want you to wait upwards of a month to gear one character and that’s only with the gear they have currently. When all this gear gets fully released, you’ll probably be looking at a year for an alt to gear it up fully.
This is a STUPID system. You think I’m going to quit because I got fully geared quickly? No, I’m going to quit because it takes me MONTHS just to get an amulet and 2 earrings. kitten that kitten.
One of the interviews stated something like a max(assuming you have ALL missions unlocked) of an earring a week(which is what 12? tokens). I don’t know if they tweaked that since the patch, but it’s probably correct.
Casuals. They serve no purpose other than to provide a means of getting high tier content to people who play 30-60 mins per day. The funny thing is, these are the very people who will NOT benefit from these items. Yet, the rest of us are gated from getting them by other means, be it from fractals, dungeon tokens, karma, gold, etc.
Sorry, but dailies are a HORRIBLE relic of daysgoneby. Just because WoW does it, doesn’t mean you guys should too.
Extra guild influence or another laurel would be kittening great.
didn’t you hear how much money valve makes off people buying keys for TF2 crates? gotta have em in our game too!
This.
Also, how the kitten do you get one key every 2 weeks OP? I’ve had ONE drop since launch. The rest were from personal story(farming it). These key drops are rarer than pre’s imo.
Frozen Maw is pretty silly for the amount of effort to reward: I’ve gotten 2 exotics and 7 rares from it so far across 2 characters.
The other events usually net me 1-3 rares per character.
So yea, thank you ANet for giving me some extra g per day.
you don’t get anywhere close by just roaming or exploring, let alone by doing only dungeons, or Wvw
We mustn’t be playing the same game…
So, when you play dungeons, you never…
. kill roaming monsters
. dodge attacks
. resurrect downed or dead allies or npcs
. collect items you can recycle or put in the mystic forge
. collect items you can salvage to craft other items
. defeat champions or veteransAnd when you play WvW, you never…
. kill roaming monsters
. dodge attacks
. resurrect downed or dead allies
. collect items you can recycle or put in the mystic forge
. collect items you can salvage to craft other items
. defeat champions or veterans
. collect resources from nodes
. complete events by attacking/defending key locations
. do the jumping puzzlesSo what exactly are people doing in dungeons or WvW ? Because I get all my dailies completed at virtually no extra cost.
I’ll just go over your points,
Dungeons:
. kill roaming monsters*yes, this is one of the easiest, along with variety, usually a path or two nets this*
. dodge attacks*yes, another easy one, usually a path or two nets it*
. resurrect downed or dead allies or npcs*no way, unless you are in a horrible group, this is best for low level areas or frostgorge*
. collect items you can recycle or put in the mystic forge*nope, better to get jute scrap or something off the TP and vendor the rest*
. collect items you can salvage to craft other items*nope, see above*
. defeat champions or veterans*maybe you see 1 per run, better to do this open world*
WvW:
. kill roaming monsters*this with kill variety is easy*
. dodge attacks*this can be done in one shot with a zerg*
. resurrect downed or dead allies*too long, easier in PvE*
. collect items you can recycle or put in the mystic forge*no, see dungeon reasons*
. collect items you can salvage to craft other items*no, see dungeon reasons*
. defeat champions or veterans*scouts are easy, but requires lots of running, easier in PvE*
. collect resources from nodes*easiest place to gather imo, can be finished in under 5 minutes usually*
. complete events by attacking/defending key locations*this along with vets can be done fairly fast, depends on the state of the scouts on the map though*
. do the jumping puzzles*lol no*
The new dailies have much more broad requirements(some are very specific to regions), so the methods you said aren’t necessarily going to work anymore.
+1
I hate that I “have” to do the dailies to get better gear. I’d much rather have other options in place, be it from fractals, dungeons, karma, or straight gold.
Dailies are just about the most un-fun activity in ANY MMO. Sure, they don’t take much time, but come on…how is underwater kills, vet kills, gathering, champ kills, kill types, dodges, revives, etc fun?
It just seems like such a waste of 20-30 minutes each day, when I could have just bought the gear I wanted and gone back to playing the game itself(WvW).
I get that dailies give people without a lot of time a means of accessing content…but why should the rest of us have to partake in this bullkitten? I’d much rather spend my time in WvW or doing dungeons than running about doing the above mentioned kitten.
OP: it could have been MUCH MUCH worse, so I wouldn’t kitten about it too much. Check out some of the other profession forums to see what nerfs they had/zero changes at all(aka no improvements…).
If you feel that D/D offers only one playstyle…try something else. You aren’t FORCED to D/D, man up and check out other builds.
The reason why is GS has a fair amount of group utility(might) and it has a good dmg output, plus traits to even further buff it.
ANet needs to “buff” other weapons so that people start paying attention to them more. I’m a HUGE fan of sword + focus for pretty much everything, usually pairing it with GS or Hammer(sometimes Staff, but not very often).
I would be ecstatic if they would let me make a flippin’ redhead, not a blonde or brunette that have an ever so slight hint of red.
?
Play a human, there are at least 3 good natural redhead colors(Campfire is one).
This would be a VERY bad move IMO and that’s coming from someone who spends most of their time in WvW. GW2 is by and large a PvE game, say what you want, but it is. Just look at all the dev focus so far…PvE this or that, with minor changes to sPvP or WvW.
Flat out adding a HUGE stat increase(don’t smirk, ascended acc. are a big increase, all armor…HUGE increase) from something that is not a “core” part of the game…would KILL a large population.
Casual players are already complaining about the current “grind”, how do you think they would respond to a move like this? On top of that, I’ve seen MANY a WvW player complain about people doing “PvE in WvW” aka jumping puzzles. Imagine the complaints when Timmy says in /t “Hey guys, I just need to do my 50 badges daily for my ascended gear, where can I grind some kills?”…
Think about what you’re wishing for OP…I guarantee you it isn’t what you want.
I’d wager the missing element is one of the Gifts, which one I have no clue, but it shouldn’t be too hard for people with them to just test the MF to see. Really quick way would be for people to say what Gifts they have available(try to find one of each, or at least the ones we KNOW might work), and then have some people pony up for the long/shortbow staves just to see if it says “possible recipe”.
Glad to see it found finally.
That said, thanks for nothing ANet…lots of blatant lies(or at the very least unknowledgeable people working there).
There is just NO way that this staff randomly decides to drop 2+(sounds like 3 or more now actually) times in the space of a few hours after this latest patch that fixes loot tables. NO WAY AT ALL.
This was bugged from the beginning. You guys could have just said so and left it at that.
It’s just me or Anet claimed for over a month that Eles need nerf and yet they got buffs ?
seems like a crap still abilities and things that actually need fixing are left behind.
This is bullkitten.
Ele took a slight(very slight) nerf to EA(which already was previously nerfed) and to RTL; aside from that, they actually got some VERY nice buffs.
Ranger looks like it got kitten as usual(our patch notes section is what? 3 lines? lol)
Seems like more of a buff than a nerf. Yes, I know that the RTL increase kind of blows, but you gotta admit, that kitten was quite imba at times.
EASY way to get ecto’s…
Run CoF
Turn in 30 tokens for level 70 RARE armors (you’ll have enough from each first run on each toon to do this twide)
Salvage
Profi… err… Ectos.
You may now continue on about how getting 50 ecto’s is just too hard…
There might be a valid argument that this would put another step in between you and legendary jewelry… if/when legendary jewelry comes out though… but for now I see no conflict
Right…so run the same dungeon 25-30 times….how fun.
No…
Have a couple 80s(in this case I have 5, but I usually do 2 only):
Character a): do p1+p2 = ~130 tokens(the little bags give extra)
Character b): do p1+p2 = ~130 tokens
Total = ~260 tokens/30 per rare metal headpiece(for ori chance) = ~8 headpieces which usually equals 5-8 ectos.
So no, not 30 runs, more like 7-10. Even at the max, that’s a little more than a week to get the ectos required for an ascended earring…BFD bro, BFD.
I hope to god they don’t do the ectos + 40 laurel per piece. That is a ridiculous price, would make ectos skyrocket and the time commitment to gear one of my characters means I basically forget about ever gearing my alts or even other specs.
The laurel price would be bad enough but the ectos make it even worse.
I agree. The price of ascended gear makes having more than 1 toon impractical.
Yep. It’s going to be absolutely INSANE to gear an alt(just one alt) if they don’t give us some form of recompense for our achievements we already have(which they discussed possibly doing). If not, you’re looking at an already hefty wait for most people(guild missions + dailies + monthlies = a good chunk of time just for one character)
Yea this makes ZERO sense considering how “easy” the commendations are to acquire. One week with a large-ish guild + 5g will net you an ascended earring vs. over a month + 50 ectos…uhhh I know which route I’m going.
On top of that, 40 laurels is just silly when compared to the AMULET which is 30. The amulet has a much higher stat increase…makes zero sense.
That said, it’s quickly getting to the point where I don’t foresee myself being able to gear an alt with ascended gear in the near future(most likely not for many months ahead). Oh well, guess I need to pick a class and just stick with it through all the nerfs.
Why would you “waste” the laurels on dyes? That’s quite possibly THE silliest thing I’ve heard in a LONG LONG time. Oh boy, 6.8g RIGHT NOW…lol, I make that in a few CoF p1+p2 runs. Whoopeeeeee 0_0
The only thing that makes sense is either karma, gold, or mf(less so). At least with these, you have a PERMANENT buff…not some 6.8g kitten that is worthless.
You can buy it off the TP, but it’s one of the more expensive sets.
