So…I completed the dungeon part of the monthly in ~ 1hr by doing CoF p1+p2 runs. Again, how hard is this monthly supposedly for you?

Do you expect ANet to cater to EVERY player with monthlies? Live a little. Take a break an try a different aspect of the game. Hell, you should be doing CoF runs anyway if you want gold. I don’t really see validity in your complaint.

While completing plains of ashford i found a group event (Defeat Iron longshot (Or something along those lines))

And he was placed on a little island in the water. There was an “Ascalonian crypt” on the island aswell as under the island it was ruins of a broken “castle” or something, and 2 charr explorers were standing on the main land. i talked to them and they said “We believe that island over there is the final resting place to….” and the name of a guy.. later on they said: “I swear if you go to explore over there, you will find something of worth” or something along those lines…

The island with the torches and stuff you can interact with? If the Charr guys are on the shoreline then you can touch the objects on the island and it should spawn a ghost.

Can’t remember if he drops a chest or not, but kind of a fun event.

OP: if you do decide to go the MF route, for the love of ALL that is holy, please PLEASE do not try an craft the shortbow. You are MUCH better off crafting one of the other higher priced pre weapons and selling/buying your pre you want + getting some extra gold at the end.

It isn’t THAT bad to do fractals. You only need ONE of the drops and they drop fairly frequently(I’d honestly be surprised if I don’t get one of the types per every other run).

I mean, look at the other MF recipes, lots require specific things that you can either buy off the TP or that you need to grind a dungeon for. How is that any different than this?

I HIGHLY recommend you wait, namely for a few reasons:
1) It will likely take you multiple months(most likely more than the 2-3 you listed, as prices will likely climb). In this period of waiting the scavenger hunt will likely come out or at the very least be more flushed out in what it will entail.
2) The MF is a VERY unforgiving beast. I had good luck receiving exotics from it with 4x 80 rares, and was able to almost keep even(maybe a slight loss per day). However, due to RNG, you might get nothing but rares or you might get the pre on your first try. Unless you are comfortable with “wasting” near 300g on the MF…I would wait.
3) You never know what will happen update wise. I was lucky to get a buy order filled for the shortbow prior to the patch. The order got filled literally hours before the patch went and near doubled the price of the bow(got it for 380g, now close to 700+). Who knows when something like this might happen again.

My honest advice is to keep doing what you are doing/just play the game and enjoy it. On top of that, look into playing the TP: you have enough gold that you could very easily get a decent return on your money without much time invested. Seriously, you could easily be making a few gold a day(~5g) just from a couple minutes work either doing bulk low cost goods or trying to get buy orders filled for rares/lodestones/cores.

OP, you are partially correct. Yes, ascended gear will EVENTUALLY make exotics useless, however not everyone is at that point yet. For someone just starting out(aka hitting 80), they are going to likely pickup greens/yellows first until they figure out what build they like. Then they might or might not pickup exotics while waiting for that 30 days to get an amulet. Even then, we only have rings and amulets atm; so until we get the rest, people will still need exotics.

Sure, at some point months down the road hardly anyone will need exotics, but this can be said for just about ANY MMO: players reach a plateau in terms of gear, where the only way forward is up(alts aside).

Yeah forget it, I run full berserker and wanted Quiver of Swift Flight too, but no flavor item short of a legendary can be worth 60 gold to me. The stats on that quiver just aren’t exceptional enough to justify that kind of expense, for my bank account at least

Use your noggin bro: get the backpiece with stats you want, make the cheapest quiver(AFAIR ~10-15g), transmute.

Voila, quiver with the stats you want AND the look you want w/o spending 50-60g.

That said, 50-60g is CHEAP. I’ve seen a lot of “too bad for WvW players like myself” comments…yea that doesn’t work, because I WvW TOO and I have one. Spend an hour a day doing CoF p1+p2, salvage the tokens, and you will end up with an easy 3-4g. Throw in another dungeon or so on top and you’re probably near 5g. That’s less than 2 weeks to get the quiver with stats you want(w/o having to transmute).

Not that hard.

The new skin looks like a wood bow with a blue texture, some linen wrap, and two small mist orbs on the ends. aka: awful

I like the new icon, but honestly the look of the new shortbow itself is…terrible. Too small, doesn’t look “corrupted” or icy in the least bit.

I built the bow for the old skin. If I had known it was going to be “updated” without an option to keep the old skin…I wouldn’t have dropped ~35g on crafting it.

Yep, they not only fixed the icons but they also “fixed” the skins for a few of them.

Gotta say, the new shortbow looks…terrible. I was ok with the little bit of mist before, but now it’s even smaller and the bow itself is VERY small and has lost a lot of charm(basically looks like a blue twig with some curled ends and a little bit of mist at the tips; nothing like the older skin with lots of curls all over and deep blue color to the ice).

Free Transfers have been there since the day the game started, and you choose a week before it goes paid to do this? Sounds like some bad communication on your half. I know it can be frustrating, and I know that guesting solves most of the issues for most people, but if WvW is what you want to primarily do then I guess that doesn’t help.

It is definitely highway robbery. 1800 gems is ~$20 which is a ridiculous amount for updating a database field on a backend server. This game wants to push people to play together in guilds/groups, but then goes out of its way to charge you for the privilege. Clearly a money grab; no two ways about it.

Server transfer prices are perfectly fine.You pay 25$ to move all your characters.That is not even close to what blizzard takes.25$ per character transfer which will be very expensive if you want to move all your heroes

Last I checked(yesterday) 200 gems was ~4g. That’s more like 36 gold.

As for OP: have you played other MMOs before? Just because this game doesn’t have a sub doesn’t mean things will be “less” than in other MMOs. WoW AFAIR costs $20 to move servers, $20 to change appearance, $20 to change race, etc.

It costs like ~7-8g($4.50) to change appearance in GW2. Who should be complaining again?

Not just PvP, but fix ALL of the pet classes regardless of PvE, PvP, or WvW.

If you want a quiver, do like we all did and pony up the gold for one.

I agree on the ascended gear. Yes, there is a SLIGHT upgrade over exotic, but I see no reason for myself ever doing fractals again(after hitting mid 40s an doing them ~800+ times).

I’d much MUCH MUCH rather see new armor/weapon skins instead, something…worthwhile.

I made ~80g off this(4 80s, ~800k each), plus another ~15g from the junk you can resell.

It might be spendy, but it definitely has a use: specifically in WvW. If you know a huge zerg impact is coming, gather your zerg, drop feast(condi duration -40% or whatever), and then fight. You’d be surprised what kind of impact it can have.

It’s a luxury item, a vanity thing. Reality is, for those 8 gold you can easily buy 2 bag slots for gems and fill them with 18 slotters, getting you 36 slots instead of 4.

So really, it’s for rich people who can then say “i’ve got 3 20-slot bags”.

It really isn’t though. No one can see your bags, so it ISN’T a vanity thing. It’s a poor design decision and I think more people need to learn that you can get them for “free” from fractals.

What server are you on? I’ve felt that way for awhile now(even during xmas) and I recently xfer’d to SoR from SBI…yea definitely the server.

Totally worth it imo. Chat is busy, people are still lfg/talking in mapchat in remote places/etc.

1g/h is VERY low, that would be basically just grinding random creatures in Orr.

Doing CoF p1/2 or AC or Fractals or hell even WvW(if on a good server) will net you EASILY between 2-4g/h.

I had some luck the other day with the quaggans: ended up with 3 in under an hour. Wasn’t even really trying to farm them either(just finishing 100%ing the zone), but I’ll take them.

That image doesnt do much good; after 2 days since I made the Torch & it wasn’t on the TP, I stopped looking. Lets use another example then… the Legendary Focus: Minstrel. It doesn’t appear to be on the TP as of typing this sentence, but there’s been a thread about showcasing it and a couple youtube videos using it.
So in short, don’t use the TP as a means to gauge if something exists, as it’s pretty unreliable.

Also edit: Of course they’d say a specific boss. Little ol’ Corrupted Wolfmaster doesn’t drop a Glorious Chest. Nor does that giant Kol in eastern Harathi. Or the various Krait Witches I’ve seen around. So by definition, Fractal/Dungeon bosses & Dragons are indeed specific bosses (and boy talk about rare, it takes 10 minutes for that champ to respawn in Wayfarer, where there’s only about 6 dragons a day!).

Dude… The reason the minstrel isnt on the TP is not because no people have it. WE KNOW ALOT PEOPLE HAVE IT. But nobody has ever listed it on the TP… Nobody has ever tried to sell it, like the final rest!

There is a SLIM chance that it was posted on the TP, but that the item is bugged from showing up as being posted/sold. One of the MF recipes (the scepter eye thingy) was bugged on the TP for almost a month: the only way to see it was if you owned it AND you posted it on the TP(ie: the only people who could see that it existed were those who were trying to sell it, so no sales lol).

In reality though, they are most likely confused with what they found or simply lying. People do fractals out the whazzoo, if that’s where his “friend” found it…yea I doubt it. I’ve done ~800 fractals alone and never seen it nor heard of anyone else finding it(have seen some sellable exotics though).

You came in at a REALLY bad time and as such didn’t get to see what SBI is(or really WAS) truly about. Seriously, you joined right after 10+ large guilds left(not to mention WM a month or so before).

There’s no reason to nerf Guardian AOE because they have serious drawbacks.

• Greatsword AOE requires you to be in melee range. That isn’t going to happen zerg vs zerg.
• Scepter and Staff AOE does poultry amount of damage.

Classes like Elementalist have long-range spammable AOE skills.

Staff does pretty ok dmg if you are traited/built right. Not saying you should quit your current build and go staff/staff, but it’s better than “poultry”.

It depends on how things are going, but 99% of the time I’ll just straight up /leave and find a new group. Although, I had to chuckle last night when someone linked their blue(yes, BLUE lvl ~70) MF gear in a lvl 38 Fractal.

Because it’s a very selfish mechanic. I’ve got no issue with someone using omnoms, but running full MF gear(usually rares or less) in Fractals/Dungeons…yea no.

If you want to farm an event or something in Orr, go ahead, but don’t waste my time.

It’s easy enough with Fractals or CoF/AC. Do a 28 and 30 daily(as 28 rewards same as 30 for tokens), then do some AC/CoF runs. That should net you 6(fractals) + 2-3(AC/CoF) per day, so ~10 a day with minimal time spent(~4hrs).

I don’t know if you have 100% map completion already, but if not, check out one of the map sites and find areas with high concentrations of SP’s. Some places have 4-5 within a two minute area; most I’ve gotten in an hour was near 50.

I also like the fact that I’ve done 330 fractals, never got a charged core or lodestone.
my guild mate did his first 20 today and got 2 charged cores and a lodestone.
This corrupt system is terrible for people who work hard and a exploit for the rich.

Meh, blame the terrible RNG system, because in well over 700 fractals I’ve gotten ~50 charged cores and ~10 lodestones.

Then again, I’ve never gotten a fractal weapon, even with the new updates to fix their RNG issues.

I see a LOT of people discussing LB and max range like it’s some kind of OP heavenly weapon. Guess what? How often are you shooting at max range in PvE? How often in WvW? Unless you are standing on castle walls and the enemy is foolishly standing still and at max range..you simply WILL NOT be getting max dps with it.

They both have their uses, but I find that SB is much more useful as whole in both PvE and WvW(hardly ever at max range, moving constantly, don’t like to stand on the walls, etc). Totally depends on your playstyle, but to blanketstatement that SB is “bad” or only for condition builds…lol, sorry you don’t know the class well.

Also, if you don’t believe us SB users who discuss dps, go do the tests yourself/read the other tests done MULTIPLE times in the past: SB auto outdamages LB 90% of the time.

The reason being it makes ZERO sense to buy it. Same goes for Infinite Light. If you buy it off the TP, you are only going to get hit with a HUGE markup. Whoever is selling needs to recoup their fees, so they are going to charge AT LEAST 15% over the mat costs, most likely in the realm of 25%-30%(~1400g). Again, it makes no sense when it can be made for 1100-1200g.

People with a TON of gold use them as a steady return. Prior to making Infinite Light, I was buying 50 a day when they were low and re-selling later when they were at their peak. It wasn’t a LOT of gold, but it was pretty much a guaranteed 10g a day on top of my usual CoF/AC/Fractal runs.

Check on the GW2 Reddit for the dynamic crafting guides. I recently did a full 0-400(except for armor, which I did to 300), bought 99.99% of my materials off the TP(only a few buy orders on super expensive stuff)…total was ~43g including re-selling to TP and vendoring.

Considering it was 30-35g a couple months back when mat prices were much lower, a ~10g increase isn’t too bad. It worked out to around ~5g per craft, some were much less(~1-3g), others were a little more(~10g).

Missing out on arguably the best parts of staff. Auto in a WvW zerg = badges out the whazzoo.

I’m about 70/30 dps/support, so I guess I can understand those running full support who don’t like it, but seriously if you are the least bit dps spec’d you should give it a try.

if i was you i wouldnt waste your time trying to get legandary precursor using Mystic Forge. You vs RNG. RNG always wins.

i’m inclined to disagree.

While you have no real control, doing it more and more will ONLY increase your chances. The trick is balancing yourself out financially so you don’t lose everything which means not allowing yourself to go below a certain amount if and when you buy the exos to toss in.

On a side note, me and guildee were farming for onyx lodestones the other night.

Between us we found 5 (with me making enough money off loot to buy a 6th) as well as 9 rares.

It was a very lucrative night and proved that RNG does not always win.

It will increase your chances in the flawed logic that you are simply playing more. The RNG remains unchanged; you’re just spending more time/wasting more gold doing it.

Save your gold and buy them from the TP(if you want it now) or wait until the scavenger hunt in probably 6 months when you can get things free/incredibly cheap.

17-20g for the cheapest ones, which can be easily had in 3 days of CoF p1/2 farming.

As it stands, I will probably NEVER sell my item because someone will ALWAYS come along and undercut me. In the past week I’ve had 5 people undercut AND sell. They undercut by 1c or 1s, some idiots even undercut 10g… The issue is, if I want to undercut them, then I lose my “listing” fee(~17g) and pay it again.

You want to know why the TP “sucks” and is cluttered with junk items: because people undercut like crazy + sell at basically less than vendor prices. It NEEDS to stop.

We either need fees only for COMPLETED sales OR ANet needs to make the TP non-global. Boohoo if you are on a lowpop server. Too bad. I’d rather deal with that, than have to deal with 10 other sellers of a particular item, who constantly undercut by troll amounts. Chances are the sellers are big players and don’t care if they only make 10s profit at the end of the day. The little guy just can’t compete with that.

Finally, someone with enough time/money could effectively “game” the system by constantly undercutting by 1c amounts in order to be the ONLY seller at all times. I’m fairly convinced that this is what is happening with the particular item I am attempting to sell atm(the price is just, as it sells; people just keep 1c undercutting to be the only seller).

Yes, roughly 10 levels per craft. Just be prepared to have near 50g (at current prices) if you are going to be buying all your mats.

GS or Sword would probably suit you best for leveling if you are having issues with closing to melee range. That or maybe try scepter/staff and just range them down.
