Removing content is not the answer. TAFU was the least played because it was more challenging and not rewarding enough. Something that should of been looked at when gold rewards were added. TAFU however is one of the best designed paths in the game and one of my favourites. Im really dissapointed by this decision. I dont see why it couldnt of just been added as an extra path.

Ressing while fighting lupi is usually the most dangerous thing you can do. When i 3man arah and one of us goes down in phase 3 we just ignore them unless they are close enough to res without moving out of position (causes a dome). Its better to finish off lupi solo or duo than res and wipe and have to start over.

We were thinking of doing an offhand only 3man lupi kill actually. That will probably involve mesmers and thieves.

I had very limited experience in dungeons at the time. Me and my guildies only really did cof and se. And beserker mesmer was the first decent beserker class i used in dungeons. First 80 was a necro which did become beserker around that time, but I was still bad at it. Second 80 was a guardian but that was when everyone thought AH knights builds were good so…

Right after you reflect his projectile, immediately start running in the opposite direction from him in a wide circle. Keep doing so until you hear him stop making that sound that he makes when he rushes at you.

That to me is a silly tactic and not intended. The fact that you have to rely purely on the reflect damage to kill him in that phase when doing that is so annoying. I ended up just spamming attacks while he smacked me around because atleast I could get the occasional hit in while he was trolling and therefore speed up the kill a bit. You would think dodging through him or using whip would be a good way to save yourself in that phase, but nope.

Just putting down my honest opinion that those 2 fights are poorly designed and just there to be annoying imo. The dragon part of the storm wizard was fine though and king toad is also fine. I expected increased difficulty, not increased annoyance.

Fixed that for you. Beginners cant properly use their evades, so they will take alot of damage. As one becomes more experienced, they will get hit less, thus affording to go with low toughness.

I think its up to the OP to decide with how much toughness they can go to not end up on the ground every fight, and how well they can use evades.

Berserker armor and soldier trinkets seemed like a good idea to me, because its easier to switch soldier for berserker trinkets (armor may have expensive skins etc).

When i got my mesmer to 80 (3rd level 80) i went straight for zerker gear. Honestly it was the most faceroll thing ive ever played to survive as a beginner. Yeah sure you are squishy and you go down very easily if you screw up, but you can waste dodges and invulns way more than you can on other classes. Its much easier to learn when you can spam dodges and blurred frenzy until you get the timing/tells right. Also deceptive evasion is very good for survivability.

Guardian is imo harder due to the very low hp pool and requiring good practise with virtue/utility use. Warrior is only safe due to the high hp pool, but it took me a while to get use to not dieing in some encounters. Mesmer I was fine pretty much right from the start and I wasnt even a very good player when i first got my mesmer to 80. As someone whos played most classes in dungeons with squishy builds and teammates, mesmer is definately the easiest to survive with.

The most likely change will just to increase condi damage scaling in pve. The cap isnt an issue in dungeons. If you made condition damage good and removed the cap then you would get a condition stacking team comp instead of a beserker team comp. So making conditions good but keeping the stack will make organised groups mix up their damage with 1 or 2 condition specced players and the rest as beserkers.

Anyway its not coming in the next patch. It could be a few months till we see any change.

While farming for baubles ive just been doing all of world 1 and world 2 zone 1 and zone 2. W2Z3 is not worth the time and I find it incredibly unfun with all the ice. I dislike W2Z1 due to the raft being boring and far too long, W2Z2 is ok because of the shortcut eagle. I still enjoy world 1, it can be done very quickly and there is nothing frustrating in any of those zones.

Im still not sure what the intended way to fight the yeti and storm wizard is? Because the way I see it, its practically impossible to avoid getting hit by them. Atleast with king toad it was clear that once you mastered it you could avoid all attacks. Yeti just smacks you off and makes you have to struggle up ice again (Grrr). Storm wizard just trolls by diving at you and you cant interrupt or dodge it.

If i remember correctly, the OP was looking for a build that has defense and is still a dos spec.

The one i linked is one of the very few builds that dont go full berserker.

As for damage, it takes empowering illusions, phantasmal strength and the fury one, thats enough damage for me to be viable (or not pitifull, atleast) :P.

Other builds with defense are cleric ones, but those are usually boon support and not what the OP was looking for.

Mesmer always has defense. Perma vigor and low cooldown evade. Mesmer is one of the safest classes to go full dps melee on as a beginner.

Sword is higher single target dps aswell. The only advantage GS has is a decent aoe phantasm. But iwarden is good enough for that and tends to be more effective at hitting multiple targets due to its duration.

If you are talking about pvp then sure. But pve chill is completely useless and vuln is a dps boost for your whole group. Especially with the amount of blinds guardian can spam.

You can support in zerk gear with a dps spec. Utilities like WoR and retreat dont suddently become unavailable when you build for dps.

The only thing we desperately need to keep us balanced with other classes in pve is a cleave melee weapon. Mainhand sword or greatsword would fit that role fine.

Yeah no problems with that, but i ment the sheer count of vets a normal group of ablades has in comparison to anything else (with flame legion being on the opposite end of the spectrum… i dont think i ever saw a vet flame legion guy outside the guys in MF that throw the flame tornados, maybe my memory is just rusty) is the annoying part, im all for trash mobs that dont make you fall asleep, but if rng decides if they are sometimes more lethal than a boss because of chain-stuns and the 2x damage vet multiplier is… well not very good design (start of AR kinda showed this, the vets during the bombardment were crazy if you didnt stack up behind the rocks for them to have and melee you, while the boss was pretty easy… well except rng pulls trough instakill lazor, but they only used it if you went from within 300 to 600 or within 600 to over 600 range of em so its k).

Arah trash are already more dangerous than most bosses when you fight them in a group. Illusionists and mages op. Aetherblade trash were pretty faceroll in comparison, just annoying with the invuln thumper or w/e it was. Molten trash were interesting apart from the annoying jumping jacks.

Dungeon support for necros is long overdue.

Sgrasp is very situational. Mesmer focus pull is useful almost everywhere, and it can be traited for reflect (ignoring the damage thats good utility defense for the group). Null field is way better than well of corruption. Not to mention mesmers can spew out sword 3 clones and phantasmal disenchanters to create permanent boon removal. Necro can only burst boon remove every now and again. Chill isnt needed anywhere, but it can be slightly helpful, just not worth taking over something else. Weakness has the same issue.

Renders weakness pretty much useless. And chill usually doesnt effect boss cooldowns.

Phase 2 is far too easy. Its phase 3 which is the problem. You dont even need to dodge the swipe in p2, just move behind him quickly. Anyway Im hoping DS will be enough to prevent me from downing when i run out of dodges.

You dont need flesh wurm. I was trying out my build the other week with 2 wells, signet of spite and plague form for phase switch. Endurance food + sigils of energy seems to be just about enough for phase 3. Its tricky though.

I attempted to do a solo the other week using my dungeon build. 2 energy sigils and endurance food is all you need. One extra evade will not save 10minutes off of your time, its your build that slowed you down. Anyway a rabid warrior solo’d lupi in 6mins 30seconds.

I dont fully like that he used a racial, and thats why i hope to beat his time without it but I may be a while. Cant solo lupi while recording at the moment, too much lag.

Run two sigils of stamina….your vigor problem is solved.

Not for lupi solo. You need 2 energy sigils and endurance food.

We dont have support -> looks at Sgrasp, 4 out of 5 wells, epidemic, aoe count and fun little facts called best chill and second best weakness application that have been increasingly more useful with each new fight (well not Tequila but he is a massive cooperation wall/anti leecher system).

SGrasp is garbage compared to Mesmer focus 4.

Chill and crippled are terrible on non melee bosses.
Well of darkness is an inferior but larger pistol 5 (a spam able vs long cooldown skill)
Well of corruption is great in one of the guild bounties, Well of power is great in one fractal fight, but that’s it for both of those skills which are useless most of the rest of the time.

Mesmer sword boon stripping is far superior to anything we have on long cool downs, and the boons are hardly important in pve anyways. The karka Queen what else?

Most of the team support on Staff got nerfed.

Well of blood is no water field, and necromancer has few finishers.

The last boss I fought literally told me “Your weakness makes me laugh.”. It didn’t stay on him long either due to how conditions work on bosses.

I like this post. All true and the exact reason why no decent players take necros over other classes.

Warden and sword auto is best aoe. Im not gonna switch to a gs just for one phantasm when im always carrying sw/f & sw/sw. And summoning a beserker after the initial engagement is a terrible idea, getting locked into a crappy ranged weapon for 10 seconds is very very bad. Yes if you want to absolutely maximize aoe, start with a beserker and then go sword focus and stay sword focus. But the zerker is barely going to make a difference and seeing as trash dies quickly anyway and isnt that common you may aswell just keep your melee weapons equipped.

AR and MF were both facerolled by beserkers just like all other dungeons. The meta doesnt involve warrior/class stacking anymore though, the only time that becomes worth it is for a record arah run (mobility for skipping sections). Still is best to run all beserkers in dungeons and will be until they make condition damage better in pve.

As much as I’d love to have level cap raised to 100 or even unlimited, we still need to get legendary trinkets and runes plus something more than just fine infusions. Until then, I’ll be watching the horizon with the hope that anet doesn’t disappoint us again.
