Just a tip we found while doing TA FW. Before the bubble archers you can stack might instead of stealth. Guard gives aegis or people use individual blocks. And everyone splits the kills them really fast. The champ will only follow 1 person. She always followed me when we did our records. And you can see from my PoV that LH with 25 might kills the archer before the champ becomes an issue. Also just a note the champ only follows halfway into the room.
Iris’s tips are good aswell. Even so its a pretty nice run for a daily run.

I would rather see reflects and projectile defence instead of stealth.
Could be nice. But i doubt many agree it fits. Im not so sure myself.
Use pistol + shield and toolkit if you need more defence. Engi is really good at active defence but you have to sacrifice a utility slot and rifle to maximise it. You also have the invuln elixir.
Well tree has two hitboxes so you do twice as much. But you cant crit. So its a bit of a random one.
Yea im not even sure its exclusive to me. It might just be a hidden anti necro mechanic. Im sure plenty of those exist just to spite us. I mean its not hard to believe when you consider the devs created undodgeable attacks (Mai Trin, champion orrian warrior).
I always got more locusts on necro than any other class. The puny dagger cleave is quite a blessing now. x)
I assume those numbers are for lvl instances. 30k in TA is very good (I think).

Thats not really much different from whats on meta battle. Except you miss out on some dps boosts by taking tool kit when you dont need it.
For the record when people were advocating the meta engi build as that one with condi duration etc. We in rT were going full dps. Its just now that max dps is achieved slightly differently now.
Drop bundle i believe. Its a little weird to get used to though.
Guardian already has a place in some records. It just depends on the path. The trait wouldnt change that for the paths a guardian isnt worth taking. But thats simply because for dps you take eles. Only warrior is taken for unique buffing despite ranger also being very good at it.
This is especially true when you consider that icebow + glyph of storms burst is enough to wipe most bosses. The only thing this trait would do is increase the group dps of a group in a path which already requires a guardian for its optimal tactics.
And for casual runs guardian is already plenty good enough to be a top pick. Pretty much all fractal pugs ask for a guardian. And even most organised groups use one. And casual pugs often take guardians aswell. So it really isnt necessary and probably wouldnt change anything.

I dont really understand the toolkit. Elixir gun would give more dps. Then its basically just the old meta build but with static discharge and no nade kit or nade traits. Maybe more damage per hit but as you said you lose vuln. And everyone knows you dont take an engi for pure damage. If you wanted pure damage you would just take an ele.
His build is in his sig. But no idea what his rotation is. Might be in his sig aswell. But im too lazy to read and i dont play engi enough to care.
It’s called “meta” because it’s the best for most people. Most builds there wasn’t invented by the site owner but copypastarino from other credited sources, usually well known players of the class.
That moment when meaning of Meta change from “most effective” to “user friendly”
The meta engi build is certainly less user friendly than your bomb kit build.

Ive never had a problem when ive joined with a character which didnt fit the description because i expect to be kicked within 20 seconds or less. If you just say “switching” most people will realise what you mean.

Yeah they are. Dark path has to be precast before she does the animation if you are around 1200 units away. So getting the timing right like that is a lottery.

Well for me the breaks are kind of a blessing. Because im so bored of it that i barely get the achieves done before the next release. At the start i would get them done on the first weekend and then go for any extra skins or just go back to dungeons.
Anyway the fact that this complaint has been coming up even more as of late should suggest that anet needs to step up and atleast announce something soon.
The issue isnt just the amount of content. Its the way it introduced. Givng small nibbles slowly doesnt satisfy a lot of people. Having something big to be hyped up about and keep people occupied with for a few months is something people are used to and i feel its needed at this stage. More and more people are less enthusiastic about LS because the novelty has worn off and its never satisfying.
Do you really think they would introduce a new class or raids in a LS update? Because thats what you are saying. I know its possible. But its very unlikely.
You can flesh wurm, DS#2 and spectral walk the pistol shot. Any teleport works. All are pretty awkward to do though. You can also try getting burn then casting well of power for a 40 second cooldown aegis. x)
Well if nothing comes that personally excites me for the next year. Ill be trying Black Desert with no ties. That should be released end of 2015 or early 2016. Kind of hope something big does happen with GW2 before that though. Barely log in these days.

Yeah in high levels it becomes an issue just because of how dangerous gaining life force can be.
Removing RNG and giving suitable variable rewards would be cool.
Spectral walk and maybe locust signet. You dont have an instant blink so you just need to get used to avoiding the aoes. Its slightly easier with swiftness but not needed. You dont have an invulns so its really just a matter of being careful. Save your dodges and DS for when you get a large amount which would make it a little risky to get out unscathed. Also you could take energy sigils just so you can dodge out of aoes more often.
Im not sure how pugs do barrage phases. But the best way is for the group to split into different corners of the arena with one person in the middle. Then everyone just moves around in their area avoiding the aoes. This way you dont overlap cannon barrages and get each other killed. Stealthing makes the aoes target someone else so thats a sure fire way to get someone else screwed if they are unprepared. When soloing you have 5 peoples worth of barrages following you. So if people die it gets harder but you have more space to move.

When i said a hybrid of the two i didnt mean it would replace them. I meant it would take some aspects of both of them. For example some group damage buff alongside some defensive support. Guardian would still be better for defensive support and ranger would still be better for group buffing. Necro would just be a balance inbetween. Which means in places where higher defence is needed guard would still be taken. In places where a little is needed then Necro might be taken. In others you might take a ranger although i suspect in those you would just take an extra ele.
But thats a problem with ranger balance. Ranger does actually have some good defensive stuff aswell so they are already a kind of buff + defence hybrid. But its not quite good enough to use them in the current meta outside of casual runs. But despite that they are in a decent place for casual runs and casual PvE. So putting necro into a similar role can only help.

It’s funny reading through threads like this. They usually start off with some sort of grievance but they almost always boil down to a few people arguing:
1. Human Nature
2. Their ability to write a convincing argument
3. Math/SpellingIt’s especially funny seeing the differences in early to later posts by the same poster. One dictionary and thesaurus later: Presto-change-O! Instant Oxford grad
Sounds ridiculous.
The latter two are usually the result of people arguing the wrong topics with a firm and genuine belief that they are correct no matter what kind of evidence is shown to them, and wish to remain on top by trying to point out irrelevant problems with the other person rather than refuting the arguments posed. As such, this often goes back and forth repeatedly when no parties in the debate are actually “correct” in regards to their analysis of the problem.
Kind of like how we’re raised, though; when politicians run for election, never are their strategies to resolve the problems they’re voted in for announced. Instead, they simply try to bad-mouth the other parties with irrelevant topics that have no merit to the effectiveness of the leadership capabilities of the other party.
Not all countries resort to bad mouthing to win elections.
Indeed, some just forcefully select the next dictator to rule with an iron fist :P

Furious demise being group fury would be nice for pug groups without eles. But persisting flames on ele completely negates the need for a fury stacker. Plus its permanent whereas furious demise is like just over 70% uptime maximum and thats by reducing damage to get near to death. You can get more if you stack boon duration. But you are gonna lose even more damage that way. Otherwise its 50% uptime assuming perfect DS flashing.
I definately still support the suggestion though. Its a step towards making necro less selfish. But it wouldnt really effect the meta.
There are two ways to get necro into the meta.
1. Give us so much damage that we are worth more than an extra ele taking icebow and glyph of storms. A unique group buff might also be an option. But ranger has frost spirit and spotter and thats not worth it over an extra ele currently.
Or
2. Give us a load of extra utility so we can play a defensive role. For example a guardian might be currently required for one dungeon but its a bit overkill on defence so you could swap it for a necro which provides slightly less defensive support but more damage. To do this we would need reflects/projectile blocks. And maybe group stability (well of power?). A good way to ensure this method would be to give us the defensive utility but also give us a unique group damage buff. That way we provide a hybrid role of ranger + guardian but at the cost of less mobility.

Except we dont have tanks and healers. In GW2 we take the minimum amount of defence and support needed to survive and maximise damage. It just so happens that proper use of control and support allows for full glass parties.
I did actually. Just because its 3 DPS, 1 Tank & Healer doesn’t mean a trinity game is DPS oriented. Most of the time, the trinity in a trinity-based game is there because it is required. A good majority of the time, you need 1 healer and one tank. The DPS are there to to make the fights not last so long. It is because the healers and tanks in trinity games are dedicated to those roles. They are required because the mechanics of high level combat requires a healer and tank, at minimum, to survive the nearly unavoidable lethal attacks.
In GW2, the option to heal and tank is there. But it is poor and it has been proven on a daily basis that all you’ll ever need is DPS. Why is that? Because there are no dedicated healers and tanks. Anet removed the roots of the trinity and gave it to all the classes. The trinity tree is still there though… just dead. :I
Just like tanks and healers are required in some trinity games. There is a requirement of of minimum defence and support in GW2. The only difference is what the requirement is and in GW2 it comes in the form of active defence and support skills like reflects. Both types of games still focus on maximum damage after taking minimum defence for the meta. There is no difference in theorycrafting methodology. To say trinity games arent about DPS is absurd. It is required and many trinity games have enrage timers which GW2 doesnt. And to say GW2 doesnt use support and control to survive in the meta just shows how little you know about the actual meta.

Actually that depends. The tank and healer are mean to minimize the amount of damage spread across the group so that the DPSs doesn’t die while they are destroying the enemy. If it were purely DPS in a trinity-based game the DPS would all die if not have a high chance of wipe before they can do their job.
Otherwise tank and healer have no point to them.

Okay, I will no longer briefly swap to staff to use line of warding to save a blob of zerkers from teragriffs – everybody can die. Also, menders are interrupted on hit, so symbol of swiftness followed by some auto-attacking can make a group of them useless.
If you want a line of warding just take hammer. More support and way more damage than the staff. :P

There can be multiple solutions. But they cannot be equal. One will always be superior in some aspects such as speed. Whereas others will be superior in aspects such as safety or consistency.
So to answer you. Yes what you want is just a dream and it will remain that way. Because it is logically impossible to realise your desire.

What does a bunker have to do with the PvE meta? There is no “hold the point” in PvE.
You absolutely need this for arah p3 ritual and cof p3 event.
Its good for rounding up adds and distracting them while the rest of your team does work. Not sure how it would do in fractals as I haven’t done fractals in almost 2 years.
Last time i checked there was no controlled aggro mechanic in game. And the aim of PvE is to kill things. That requires damage. So the meta focuses on taking the minimum defence and support needed while maximising damage. Bunkering doesnt fit in the meta. It can fit in casual groups i suppose.
i am proud of myself. got the spider skip in arah p2 done first go on necro without stealth. actually an easy run in my opinion
