Actually a fully buffed elementalist is dealing roughly 31-33k DPS with fiery rush, whereas a fully buffed elementalist using staff is dealing around 14-16k-ish. It’s closer to 2x, not 5×.

Do you think using FGS in FotM demonstrates the need for a nerf just as much as dungeons do? Why or why not?

Curiuos, is that “Fiery Rush” or with FGS? As things that don’t die in a single rush would then be much lower DPS right?

Personally I’m hoping they simply tone the damage down to make it not as big of a boost but still a boost.

And also you kinda have to take into account the second sword, if a thief picks it up and is getting double isn’t that technically roughly triple the DPS from that Ele?

Yeah thats for fgs in total i believe. Which is why its not quite as over the top as people claim. The issue comes from bosses that melt in 1 rush and are far too easy to rush.

Op you are correct in what you have heard. In PvP they are bad because they can be completely focused and put out of a match. In PvE they are bad because they offer nothing unique, are selfish and have low end dps. In WvW they are ok in zerg vs zerg because you have swarms of other players helping you.

If you value any form of efficiency and learning the game for what it is. Then you should probably stay away from the Necro in its current state. To avoid unnecessary disappointment and frustration. The class is fun. But once you start thinking about how other classes do everything better it kind of ruins it for you.

That is weird. I had no idea the game is designed around speed clear. I also had no idea that a speed clear guild trumped the rest of the populations opinion. So we have evidence that more necros have been restricted from groups for just being necros then rangers have for just being rangers?

What do you want to rank PvE with? Heals per second? Who can do the content the slowest and without dodging? The only logical way to rank the gametype is efficiency. And part of being efficient is being fast. Another part is being useful, necro has the least amount of useful utility. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean its not true.

No, it isn’t.

Who do you define as the unanimous top players in PvE? Where is the poll they took on this? Why does everyone else seem to think they feel the ranger is least valuable/desired in the three game modes?

Ranger is 2nd least desired. Ask anyone in a top PvE guild. Scratch that, ask anyone in a speedclearing guild.

They also changed their plan for weakening shroud nerf based on feedback. They do make adjustments on relatively short notice if it is necessary. 4 days is a bit too short though. But the biggest issue is not the feedback its the fact that there is a major tourny coming up and necro is in a bad positon. People dont know if the upcoming changes will make necro worth risking and signing up.

To put this in perspective, if they don’t clump them together, the last two professions to be covered will be done on September 5th, giving us just 4 days to give feedback and for them to respond. That just isn’t enough time.

Assuming that this is because the last classes had the least contentious changes, it would imply that Guardians and Necromancers are the closest to the balancing point that ANet wants them to be at.

So uh. Make of that what you will, I guess.

Its fair enough in regards to guardian. And to be honest ele probably would of been fine there aswell. I always felt people were being stupid and overdramatic by saying Anet hates necros (or that they dont play them). But to be honest its really starting to seem that way. I cant really give anet the benefit of the doubt anymore. Its been constant disappointment since release.

Well this thread is embarrasing. As soon as anet delivers slightly more complex fights people claim its too hard. Its really not hard. I honestly dont know what to think. I thought games were supposed to be challenging.

I want more than 10 times the difficulty of this fight for future stuff. But its a step in the right direction. Maybe you will learn how to play the game if anet continues to increase the difficulty. I can only hope. :P

cultural change happens.

80s – games were rather new and niche. They were whatever their developers made them to be, also barely any means of communication between audience and developers.

90s – games slowly became mainstream and met a culture that admired achieving and saw failure as an incentive for improving. People barely complained about difficulty.

2000s and later – games are mainstream, western culture is post-materialistic / post-socialist. Everyone is special. Achievers are seen as suspicious or are downright frowned upon. Self-improvement is not viewed as gratifying anymore. People don´t enjoy overcoming obstacles, but demand having them removed.

The decline in video game culture simply mirrors the decline of western civilization. Sad, but that is just the way of the world. Or poetically put: It is said that what is called the Spirit of an Age is something to which one cannot return.

And thats what i dont get. I only really started playing video games 2000 onwards. And i can still appreciate challenge and wanting to improve yourself. I guess i had a pretty good introduction by watching my dad play doom, quake and half life as i was growing up. Why the hell are people so warped and lazy.

I am a Necro noob pretty much, but why exactly do they need more survivability? Is that really the reason why some people consider Necros weak?

Necros cant 100% negate damage like the other classes. They only have the base dodges + extra if taking energy sigils. They are forced to tank most damage with DS, prot etc. Other classes have evade skills, blocks, invulns and vigor on top of their base dodges. Necro has an extra health bar to compensate. But that doesnt work that well especially when being focused. For example an invuln or evade skill will negate an infinite amount of damage in a small period of time. Necros DS can only soak up a limited amount of damage. And doesnt scale to the number of players you are fighting. Its a severe disadvantage mainly in PvP. But it also has implications in PvE aswell.

Its not the main reason necros are so bad in PvE. But it is definitely a factor.

Tbh, I thought Zomb was underpreforming during those matches.

First on power necro, hardly getting his daggers to speak (if he had them equipped)
Lich form spam 1 wasn’t the best way to use it, several occasions where a pushback was in order (but because of long casttimes and focus not able to use it)

Then on condi also underpreforming, yes he did guard near (as condi) and it worked out untill someone entered the cap ring (hambow firefield) iow It became clear that necro doesn’t have a viable role to play if there are no people holding points (heavies,engies, damage negating classes). AT ALL.

Hopes someone else notices this too.

they allow hambow in tournaments of this scale? that’s like getting a huge handicap on a professional golf tournament..

You dont dictate the builds players run in a tourny.

They can only do so much in a single change. Reality is that Necromancer becoming viable in dungeons will take a lot more work than they can realistically do in one patch, while also doing absolutely nothing for PvP, which lets be honest is a much more focused on area of balance.

I dont believe in giving them an excuse this late into the game. Necro has been awful in PvE since release and they still havent done anything to help. They had the chance to do so with the new grandmasters but they decided to go down the healing route.

I dont understand the arguement of PvP gets nothing. You’ve had ranking updates, reward updates, wardrobe advantage, new maps, spectator mode, huge dev supported tournies. And lets not forget the main and most important thing (the only thing really needed in a PvP gametype). PvP balance. Every balance patch is based on PvP.

Im failing to see how PvP gets nothing. I probably missed a few other things aswell.

You guys are being quite short-sighted imo. Ofcourse fgs deserves a nerf. It’s galaxies ahead of all other means of dps through the gimmick of stacking stuff against the wall. If fiery rush weren’t in the game, things like engineers would get a place due to their vuln stacking (made redundant by a weak spot ele with an fgs). You ‘deserve’ to be able to do dungeons faster? What about new players that are faced with a dungeon system they can’t possibly be supposed to understand, where every fight is finished before even a single mechanic of the fight has been showed off.

It’s not like eles won’t be viable anymore without fgs. Our dps will still be absolute top-tier.

‘Instead of nerfing fgs, fix the broken combat system’ must be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. For one they are not mutually exclusive, secondly one takes a matter of minutes, the other a matter of months and thirdly, even with advanced AI fgs damage is too high.

Have you ever tried to fgs mossman or arch diviner on fractal 50? They are extremely risky and the damage is certainly not too high considering how long it takes to kill them even with fgs and almost flawless group play. Its an issue in old easy content. Not so much in new more challenging content. Leave the old content as is. Give us new stuff which is very hard to fgs bypass. That should be the priority.

With a global ICD it will always be trash. The ICD should be per target at the very least (then it can be useful for pve). Or it should be reverted to no icd and chance on crit.

yeah, you know the rarity of those armor boxes from spvp? and from a box comes only one piece so, yeah, point is still valid. pve has more than enough features to it, pvp needs a ton of attention and the unique armor is a decent start.

Not sure if you realised this. Ascended boxes are easier to obtain and more common in sPvP than they are in PvE.

Most PvEers have to spend thousands of gold, grind for dragonite and do daily crafting to obtain ascended. The boxes are almost non existant as drops.

I know loads of primarily PvE players that do regular fractals (the main place for random boxes). And then when they started doing PvP they started getting ascended boxes way more often than they would for doing fractal 50.

There is a single skill that triples the DPS of two players in a group; that isn’t balanced. This isn’t just a matter of making bosses trivial (which it does do), this isn’t a matter of it taking skill (because in many cases it takes absolutely no skill), this is the fact that one skill is completely dominating the entire game mode.

The problem is that anet will most likely go too far. Making it completely useless. And heres the kicker. In fractals on many bosses fgs is extremely risky to pull off. The damage it deals in those situations is justified considering the risk. If you nerf fgs you destroy the balance it has in fractals.

I wouldnt mind a slight nerf on base damage. But the priority should be new more challenging content which makes fgsing very hard or unreliable. Theres no point worrying about the 2 year old content anymore. Leave it as it is for inexperienced people and move the rewards to fractals and new dungeons.

Its not too bad. But i have always felt that the fear should be AOE coming from the necro. Similar to the guardians push back.

It used to be a lot worse when you couldnt switch targets while still channeling life leech.

Ironically we in rT were never using pure axe even while everyone was saying oh axe is best dps. An arguement you guys had with us led to you finally testing GS properly and so nike revised his conclusion on warrior and then you revised it again and went back to what weve been using pretty much the whole time (xD). Most of us go by what we feel is best and that tends to differ slightly from almost all meta builds posted by DnT. Some of you guys are almost as bad as Guang sometimes. The game isnt played on a spreadsheet. Although sometimes i think its more of an EU NA divide. SC seems pretty similar to us in build approach.

Also your arguement for engi is laughable. There was no previous record for CoE. People dont just shoot out records every few minutes. Also everything in CoE story mode can be fgs’d or icebowed. Theres no rooted bosses and theres plenty of walls/pillars to pulls mobs to.

The engi beat our ac time by less than 10 seconds. From that its pretty safe to say the only difference was luck/slightly smoother run overall. Engi was wasted. Thief was fine. If we want to retake the record we also have to find people that care enough to want to beat a record with no new strats (lame).

They arent necessary on every character. Necro is probably the only class that you should always carry some in your inventory for though. Other classes have vigor, blocks, invulns etc.

But yes, definately a sigil thats worth having on every character. Although traveler runes arent. >.>

Pretty sure engi was not the reason for those records. There was no previous CoE record. And the AC record was beaten by less than 10 seconds. Could easily be done with a thief instead. Engi has no place while fgs and icebow still work.

Just use the traditional fresh ingredients that go so well with bread, eh? That with basil OR origano.
Keep it simple, with few things, mozzarella and/or tomato sauce always to give a delicate and watery base to whatever you want to use – then pick ingredients that fit well with each other and respect the glorious tradition behind the preparation.
Don’t dishonour it by smashing random things in a mixer and slapping them on the dough. Be gentle and respectful as if it were your bride.

I like stuffing my face with delicious fatty foods. :<

But yeah simple plain pizzas are probably my favourite. I just like to change it up a bit and pig out.

I honestly have no idea who came up with putting pineapple on pizza. I know so many people who love ham and pineapple pizzas. I just dont get it. Take the pineapple off and the pizza is improved dramatically.
