Being new doesn’t magically mean you have no responsibility to show some initiative.

And in the same vein, being a veteran with requirements for a team gives you the most knowledge and incentive to help them out.

I mean, I think this twist on the conversation is pretty funny: You don’t want gimps joining your teams and your fanatical about the level of performance and values you want from people that team with you …. but you don’t want to do anything to educate or discourage people that have no idea they aren’t meeting your requirements from joining your teams. GG guys. You’re laissez-faire approach to what appears to be a very meaningful part of the game to you leaves me speechless.

We have no obligation to do so. Do you realise how much time we would spend explaining if we did that for every single person? Yes its a polite thing to do. But sometimes people will just want to remove the player and relist as soon as possible. Is that really so unreasonable to you?

It seems you live in fantasy land with your unnatural optimism. But unfortunately the world isnt quite like that. Deal with it. Not everyone is willing to help others and certainly not all the time.

Thats simply how they have chosen to give us defence. I dont like it either. But i dont seem them doing much to change it. And i dont think a defensive weapon is that important on the priority list. Especially as the place where necro is in a terrible place is in PvE. Where extra defence isnt really needed at the moment. Only fight we lack the proper defence tools for is Mai Trin.

But yeah i understand what you mean. We will just have to agree we would rather see different weapons first. And that we have different priorities and values in game.

Was so fired up to rant about Arcane Precision ( especially 10% for a GM Minor )!

Oh well!

I dont think conceptually good traits can be considered as competitors. Arcane precision is a good trait but suffers from being underpowered.

Because a mace will be slow and i doubt it will provide decent dps. Its not the cleave solution we need.

Warriors mainhand mace is only used for solos where you need extra blocks such as leurent. The offhand is used very often. But mace on guard is pretty much useless. I dont really want to see us get a new weapon which turns out to be even more useless than the axe.

Personally, I don’t think this is a good argument. Maces on other professions do provide a cleave and they are not used very much. The problem with having every profession using a greatsword and sword is it starts to lose its uniqueness. Which Swords and Greatswords actually have already lost that.

How the mace could be used with a necromancer might not be what you want, however Necromancers have very VERY good damage option at the moment and I personally feel that the area we are seriously lacking is in the defensive department. giving us a block would go a long way for survivability.

I know I’m in the minority in this, But I personally was never bothered by not having a cleaving weapon. And I think if we are going to start with a cleaving weapon we should start small and give us a proper defensive weapon.

This is just a personal conflict of preference. I dont think the mace will feel fun or interesting. And you dont think sword or greatsword will.

Anet will most likely keep consistancy across weapons. So a mace would be a lower dps control weapon. Whereas sword and greatsword are likely to be more about high/moderate dps with aoe/cleave potential. You might not be bothered by not having a cleave weapon aesthetically. But its a huge design hole when you consider other classes. And i think its safe to assume that the majority would prefer greatsword for this reason and for aesthetic reasons despite how common they already are. Which is unfortunate for you assuming that anet go by the majority (the logical choice).

We already have 2 defensive weapons. The problem is they dont fit the standard idea of defensive weapons (blocks and evades). The necro has been designed to not have any extra conventional active defence so the type of defence we get are blinds, weakness, cc and other debuffs like cripple and chill. These are aggressive defence options. Offhand dagger and warhorn both cover these very well.

That’s what you think I’m suggesting? Let me clear something up here. I’m all for choosing who you want to play with. I’m all for people playing how they want (because if they aren’t, their head isn’t screwed on right). I’m all for tolerance and education. What does that mean?

Play with who you want to, but be responsible and smart about it. Setting a LFG message, expecting people to abide and washing your hands of the responsibilities of ensuring your in a team you want makes no sense. That LFG message doesn’t dissolve anyone of the need for the same checks that were done BEFORE LFG was implemented. I think it’s MORE necessary now than ever because yes, I doubt many people will ask about the LFG message if they don’t understand, care or know. Even if they ask, what does someone tell them? Come to this subforum for information? It’s and interesting stance to blame someone for not asking, but if there isn’t any place to direct them to, it’s meaningless.

I could be misinterpreting this. But what I took from this post is you think its ok to set requirements for a group. But if someone who doesnt meet those requirements joins your LFG you should take the time to explain exactly what your LFG message means before removing them. Or you are not allowed to kick them at all.

What twisted logic makes you think this? Im not going to sit there explaining to every person who cant use common sense why they are not welcome in the group. Especially when most people actually do understand the lfg messages but they simply refuse to abide by them and reply in party chat (sellers hell). I have no obligation to waste my time informing every player who wrongfully joins my group. That idea is ridiculous.

What happened to the complaints about no sustain and active defence in PvP. And the no lifeforce at the start?

Necro has to be babysat in pvp and were still locked into 2 specs (both damage specs) with no real variation. Were better in PvP but by no means fine. When eles were bad, people were still able to rek with them. PvP is one of those gametypes where even if the balance is off the classes can still perform. After all its a team game and communication, teamwork and a working brain is more important than composition.

Ranger has been fluctuating in position. Necro has stayed at the bottom for PvE since release. I dont understand how anet can think thats ok. At least we improved in PvP i guess. >.>

Just venting my frustration. Necro PvE improvements are about the only thing that will make me play actively again. So im really banking on the balance announcements. :<

[Guide] DPS Necro for PvE

Your thoughts are pretty much in line with what i would suggest. Assassins with scholar will help you deal with the low crit chance and will be optimum dps in most situations. Ranger runes will avoid the issue of staying above 90% hp (remember to take a mini pet for permanent #6 bonus). Plus they will give you more precision which will mean berserker armour is fine.

You could also go assassins with ranger runes if you never expect banner of discipline. Its probably a bit of an over the top investment in precision. But from a personal standpoint i hate missing crits so if you feel the same way theres no harm in going this route. Especially if its just for open world.

I wouldnt ever recommend strength runes for the dagger build. There simply isnt enough might generation for it to be worthwhile. So go with scholar or ranger runes.

One thing im hoping on is a siphoned power rework. If the devs indulge us and make it might on crit then strength runes could definately become the new best runeset for solo and casual groups even with the dagger build. Which would be very interesting. Although this is just my optimism speaking.

Thats my personal opinion anyway. Im a bit biased. But even so i dont think any one class should be prioritised. And it certainly shouldnt be made public if it is.

Doesnt matter what state eles were in back then. It was a pure and simple popularity contest. They had their issues in PvP. But they were fine everywhere else. PvP is the smallest community. But the ele playerbase is huge. Ergo popularity contest.

Whats more the vote didnt take into account the level of help needed. For example. Ele and engi only need small changes to fix them (ele was voted #2 yet its already completely fixed from a few minor changes lol). whereas ranger and necro need quite a bit more in depth help.

It really made me lose hope in anet when they said they would choose by vote. You shouldnt let the uninformed playerbase decide on balance priorities. You should take feedback and decide yourself. And you certainly shouldnt give your fans false hope.

Good Fractal Necro

in Necromancer

Posted by: spoj.9672

spoj.9672

Neither do I. But one of the best ways to make anet fix the issue is to make it clear to them where the issue is.

And necro cant buff allies. Our might and fury is purely selfish and we have limited blast finishers to help contribute in might stacking with other professions. We can provide minor amounts of group prot and regen but thats it and thats not something that would make me think “oh necro can buff the group”.

And this doesnt even cover the fact that we are the only class without extra active defence. And the only class that doesnt have any form of projectile reflect/block.

Good Fractal Necro

in Necromancer

Posted by: spoj.9672

spoj.9672

The only class that has less utility than necro is the warrior. But the warrior can keep the entire group buffed with 25 might and provide banners. So the question is “Why would you take a necro?”. If you can answer that and give me a genuinely good and legitimate reason then ill take back my comments about necro being bad.

A well played necro can obviously help a group a lot. But thats due to the player making up for the classes shortcomings. If that player plays any other class they could do much more for the group. Which I know all too well as im a necro main who also actively plays all other classes in PvE.

Take a look at all the skills and traits on necro that provide buffs and boons. Notice how they only effect the necro in every single case. The class is selfish by design. It is reliant on teammates to maximise damage aswell. Yes it does have some things it can do to help the group such as control condition spam and condi cleanses. But they are high cooldown and often weaker than other classes equivalents.

Necro is as bad as most people think. Which is really disappointing.

Rangers have their niche with spotter frost spirit while engis don’t asside from vulnerability stacking but they are just awsome. Engis are capable of being a poor mans thief, ele, and guardian just so much nice utility for non optimized groups.

Check out our recent record run for AC story mode. It is in fact crucial in this very optimized group to bring an Engineer.

With Engi providing enough stealth, and with many non FGS encounters, Engi is important to keep the high vuln uptime otherwise difficult to achieve.

And if you are taking damage from something to give you that might you are going to be in an even poorer state. Either with no lifeforce or less than 10% hp. Such a strong trait!

Just had a look at all grandmaster minors. They are all pretty much just damage boost/vuln on crit traits. Siphoned power is the only one which only has an effect when you are already losing. All other classes can get benefits out of their grandmaster minors at any time. Explain to me again why a niche trait which only does something when you are dieing is acceptable? and in a grandmaster slot aswell?

The only similar grandmaster trait is hidden assassin. And atleast that can be taken advantage of at any time through the players choice.

Anyone who thinks DPS is the only important thing needs to ask why guardian and thief aren’t down at the bottom of the barrel along with necromancers.

For dungeon runs, thief produces some of the highest dps, right? Guardian is in the top half of professions in dps too, aren’t they? Plus they produce a massive amount of group support while doing it…

If dps was the only thing that mattered then you would always run 5 eles. Or 4 eles and 1 warrior.

This vid shows a run which almost requires only dps. Except warrior wasnt an option because it has no blink and stealth was needed. Even in extreme cases like this its never pure dps. We used blinds aswell for some of the trash mobs. So even without the stealth it wasnt pure dps.

New players tend to be more receptive to advice. Old players are stuck in their stubborn ways. A lot of new players have come into the game and look up guides etc. So they end up being far more experienced than some stubborn PHIW’s who have played since release.

And as im sure Winter can back me up on this. Many of us vets are happy to help and teach new players that are friendly and willing to learn and listen. I dont go out of my way to teach people (dont have the time or drive), but if people ask me for help most of the time I will do what I can. But about half of that practise time was done on necro. Was already relatively familiar due to meleeing in a group. I remember most of my problems came from phase transitions or when i was on my necro having too many locusts at phase 1 switch.

It’s only 1550 gold. And yes, it’s worth it if you have a solid main. If I was the type who played 4 different classes equally as much, I wouldn’t bother but since I am on my warrior 99% of the time it’s completely worth it.
