Winning would show the capabilities of the build, and make people more likely to try out the build.

Actually, losing can show limitations of a build and pin point its capabilities more accurately than winning. It could showcase how far you can push it, if you will.

Also, I could show how I kill people with a really bad build (or even naked and without traits). I doubt anyone would be motivated to try it just because it’s in a video.

Noone will show off something they cant be proud of. It might be entirely the builds fault for the loss but that loss will still effect your credibility. Its pretty much why noone shows videos of bad plays. Whos going to put effort into uploading something which demonstrates them losing or playing badly unless they are making a point? Only way to see that stuff is to watch streams and stream vods.

Guardians did the short end of the stick on this… But TBH kind of like reason why they did it. Classes should get conditions which match their profession, and nothing really matches Guardians all that well, condition wise. They are the buffing class, not the debuffing class.

… but sadly Guardians don’t really match any conditions other than burning. They probably should be given a decent bleeding trait though, since bleeding is not really a class thing its a bread-and-butter condition which everyone should have.

I was a bit confused on this one as well. Why don’t Guardians get bleeding? We use swords. Do we just use the flats of the blades or the hilts and pommels when we use them? Because when I watch my animations, I am clearly swinging my blade at things yet they never bleed…

The dungeons are fine. We just need new ones.

However many of the current dungeons could be improved drastically if they followed the same design as AC story mode. Open map and choice of which objective to clear in whatever order. You could also combine paths by making dungeons like this.

Yeah pretty much. You would get rewards based on the bosses and objectives you clear. If you have limited time you can just clear the most rewarding objectives and leave. Or you can split and do them all. Its basically like UW, FoW. Gives a lot more freedom to the players.

You do realise the illusionists channel auto attack hits for a lot? Even a warrior gets rekt if they dont have CC or an invuln. Its not an issue in a group. But solo its erggghhh.

It’s not on an instant cooldown I believe. Also line of sight-able though not as sure there. And if you absolutely must kill one of them you sure can prepare at least 2 control skills.

I just remember that I had to 1v1 those few times and didn’t have much problems, but yeah, I play a warrior. Classes with lower hp pools and less self-buffs would have more problems I guess.

It is on instant cooldown. Only way to reliably survive solo is to abuse LoS. Which is not always possible or safe (aggro more risen by accident).

Kinda puzzled with all the risen illusionist entries myself but I’m looking from a 1v1 perspective.

Otherwise yeah, when fight is stationary and against multiple targets chaos storm will screw you unless illusionists are controlled or you extremely outdps.

Back in the LA attack the Elite blademaster was able to FGS RUSH. If you immobilized it and he rushed, it was a FGS rush. Insta kill…

I believe risen jesters do that. But they’re a rare sight so not sure. I remember guys dying to one in similar way but since it was a champion they could be dead to bombs as well.

Hm, yes, speaking as a WvW’er, I use warhorn a lot. Swiftness and cripple. ’Nuf said.

In PvE, not so much but I often use it in Orr if I’m choosing not to run Spectral Walk; again, for the swiftness mostly, but anywho it’s very useful. Otherwise in PvE it’s dagger OH.

That makes no sense. Theres barely any use for offhand dagger in PvE. Warhorn on the other hand is standard along with focus.

Use fire elemental. It barely makes a noticeable difference on kill time if he eats 1 grub. Its only a 2% reduction.

The ones that scam are usually people that you can tell if they are going to scam as soon as you enter the instance (sitting at the dungeon entrance, no objectives complete or path selected).

In my experience all people who put the effort in to complete the dungeon will not scam legitimate buyers. There are rare exceptions such as guild groups selling at the end and repeatedly kicking pugs after paying. Although ive never witnessed it, only heard rumors (could be untrue).

AC story is hardly linear. Its the one path in the entire game that gives you plenty of choice in both objective completion order and route.

The dungeons are fine. They are dull because they are old and very simplistic. But they arent that bad. They were fun in the beginning and the paths people play less often are actually a refreshing change every once in a while. Linear dungeons arent always a bad thing.

I dont see the point in anet wasting resources reworking them. If they were to fix them, they would be completely new so we may aswell of just gotten new dungeons instead. I dont want to lose content just because its old and linear. Just give us new stuff and make it non linear. And keep the old stuff. Also bring back TAFU please!

The only reason to use axe offhand is in a solo where you dont want to take fgj but you need the fury. And you dont need a better offhand.

The reason I am against stacking is because it is so kitten simplistic. I`ve been a hardcore raider for years and to me this game is just childs-play, with its lack of strategy and thought required. Its hard for me to understand why ANYONE would fervently defend such a basic game design.

So what would be the difference if people wouldn’t hug in a corner, but instead melee the boss open field? Except not being able to Fiery Rush bosses.

I did (and do) often enough. For me it makes no difference if I dodge into a wall while fighting Alpha or through him, as an example. Maybe it is just me, but it feels the same to me.

I’d still like to hear from you what’s the difference, since you clearly have experience with both and therefore can tell me.

Your arguement can essentially be equated to this:

Essentially you want something you dont like to be removed from the game just because it doesnt fit your ideals.

Next up. Remove the most simple class from the game because many people think its too easy. Were coming for you warriors!

It’s more engaging to watch the boss soak all the damage while you sand right next to him as spam your auto attack.

The standard methods of clearing certain bosses has no relation to its design. You can fgs Liadri aswell.

Why do you think Liadri is well designed? Because players are bad at killing her? As far as I can tell you are fighting the arena while dpsing a trivial boss. And her over the top weakness and melee spam encourages ranging and kiting. Personally i dont think thats good design. Challenging does not mean its well designed. Mai Trin and Mossman also fall under this category along with many others.

Not roughly. Its exactly the same.

However the range of damage for axe is wider. So staff will hit for more consistant numbers but the axe can reach a higher potential number than staff if RNG is on your side.

If you force people to fight bosses in a certain way then more and more people will try to find exploits and safe spots to cheese it. Or just not do the content. And an anti stacking mechanic like that will probably be very easy to exploit and prevent the boss from not attacking anyone (Move in and out of stack spot, watch boss get stuck running between spots).

The best solution is just to make bosses dangerous so there is risk when you stack. Just like they did with the spider queens poison. This forces you to have a proper plan when you stack to dps a boss.

This is the problem with dps rankings. Many of the rankings are based on builds that noone runs because they are stupid or unviable in any type of run. And we will never agree on assumptions made for each build. Necro is the only class where its pretty accurate because there is no other way to play other than pure dps. :P

And even in the case of warrior. The selfish dps build is 6/6/0/0/2 gs. You wouldnt run 6/6/0/2/0 because that means you lack perma selfish fury and swiftness. Even if you did you would always be using atleast one banner which means you wont have all signets so you wont get that number. The warriors theoretical maximum dps build has no place in a regular or organised run. Unless you are stacking more than 2 warriors. But the necros max build does have a place as theres pretty much nothing else.

Anyway this is all irrelevant. The original claim was that necro was second worst or worst in terms of dps. It quite clearly isnt. And even if it was, it wouldnt be fair to say it like that. Especially when its pretty much equal to warrior and guardian and quite far above ranger.

Although its fair to say overall necro is clearly the worst class for dungeons and pve.

Why would you ever delete an 80? Its painful enough to level a new character. :P

You should always keep them so if you ever feel like playing something different you can.

I have 11 lvl 80’s. I havent even deleted the duplicate classes because that would be such a waste. :P

So it is higher than warrior. Because noone runs a no banner warrior. And anyone that runs a warrior without empower allies in a casual/organised run uses 6/6/0/0/2 or 6/5/0/0/3 with GS. Not 6/6/0/2/0 axe.

So you put on a 3 sec weakness with DS flash as well as a bleed that from crits you can apply easily and signet of spite puts on a slightly longer weakness. People think the more Overall dps is better. TBH who cares. I simply don’t care about numbers. I play Necromancer the way it should be and the build that suites me. I’ve pulled out in exotics and only 5/6 ascended rings/neck/back/ 1 accessory more dps with crits/ferocity in place of raw utilities bringing you the dmg boost to 10542+416 with bleeds.

I understand what your getting at but i find it hard to believe thats the potential for necros. If my Ghastly Claws TRAITED with Axe Mastery can hit over 12k with crit/ferocity mixed in. how is the above still listed as the only DPS a necro can pull?

My posts were just referring to the dps rankings. Viability of those situations where you can sacrifice all utility is irrelevant in this discussion. It was purely in response to Guangs dps claims so there is no need for you to argue with it especially as you do not care about efficiency.

Also if axe 2 hits for 24k that is only 8k dps. Axe 2 is not good damage. Your 12k axe 2 is 4k dps which is less than half the theoretical maximum with dagger rotation. And thats terrible considering axe 2 is the “burst”(read with sarcasm) of using an axe build.

Noone mains a necro anymore.

I only play necro for the theme. But thats not enough to make me play it as a main anymore. My necro is purely for soloing living story stuff to keep her up to date. For casual dungeons and fractals etc I go with any of the other 7 classes. Unless im really craving the theme and I want to leech/troll.

Your build doesn’t include condition cleansing, so how is that better? Yeah a pet who heals you who can also die from an AoE if World Boss actually get’s to kill it, no heal from it and your out of it. Signet of spite may give 180 power staple which is slightly a dmg boost and if you forgot Target the Weak 2% dmg bonus for EACH condition on the target. your dmg adds up each time. in Dungeon’s it may go down but your dmg output is still going to be high with might stacking. Condition Cleansing even in dungeons is more useful to get you ooc as well. A 25s cd compared to an unreliable AI minion that sits at ranged and can eff the party up is not useful. I’m not trying to forcefully make it so i’m bashing your idea it’s okay because it’s good, but you have to think. Conditions can kill you as easily as melee dmg can. Blood Fiend has no condi cleanse, provides healing of 900 that literally is nothing compare to what you can get from Dag #2 with might stacks at 25.

You dont understand. Guang was asking for theoretical max dps. The build i listed is just the dagger build with tweaked utility’s to absolutely maximise dps and ignore any utility. Of course when you need cleanses you take consume or well of power. Or when your group lacks might you take Blood is Power. And you should not need much condi cleanse in PvE.

The reason you dont use the signet of spite active is because the only conditions you dont apply yourself with that build are poison and blind. Blind gets stripped immediately and both of those conditions can be applied by teammates. So you basically sacrifice 180 power for a 0 – 2% damage boost.

In fairness they dont really have a solid grasp of any class (understandable to a certain degree as they dont have the same amount of play time as some of us). But as far as im aware none of the balance team mains a necro so they dont risk buffs as much as they would on the other classes.

Im of the opinion that the players who understand the game the best are those who arent afraid to exploit the game and its mechanics. And dont care about being classed as lame or cheesy. They play to win no matter what. Unfortunately casual players and developers dont like to abuse something they feel so attached to. Which limits their perspective quite considerably.

This is probably an unpopular opinion. But if you disagree you probably fall under this category. :P

Huh? Anyone can do it at the moment. The only requirement is having a decent number of people. Even when the map becomes quieter people will still have no problem doing it. Unless their really isnt enough people there. But that has nothing to do with boss schedule or guild groups so Im struggling to understand what you are getting at.

If you are saying you agree with me that it should start scaling at a lower number of players, then just say that. o_o

What? More people would do it even when the maps dead if it started off scaled to 3 players like all other regular bosses in open world.

The only thing im saying is that it should start scaling from a lower amount of players. It makes no sense to be such a hp sponge right from the start. I said nothing about taking it off the boss schedule or removing the daily chest.
