I assume the 0.00000001% increased chance for ascended boxes is the main reason.
Yeah 50 is ideal for avoiding instability. But its a pointless gear gate. 49 is the accepted fractal for gwscr submissions so it makes sense to use that. Otherwise go for 40.
asking someone to spend cash as an entrance fee essentially is bad form
Ignoring the fact an entrance fee would have to go to us, rather than to your own characters as armor;
70AR is only an entrance fee if you don’t have it yet – if you don’t have it yet you’ve never done 50, and haven’t done enough 49s to get enough ascended chests – and in that case you probably won’t make it past the first round.
If we were asking you to gear every profession with 70 AR (3 sets of armor) you might have a valid complaint. As it stands you have over 3 weeks to pick a class and get your gear ready.
Now thats a foolish assumption to make. When does anyone ever get an ascended box they want? I run fractals almost daily and ive only had 3 armour boxes total.
And 3 weeks is hardly enough time to gather that much dragonite with the current world boss system. Fortunately i already have several ascended sets so i dont suffer from this problem.
But can you guys please explain why you want to gear gate the tournament. You are just excluding potential competition. Most people dont gear for 50 because theres no major benefit to running it over 49. In fact i wouldnt be surprised if people only get enough AR for 38.
What is the issue with running 49? If anything its more challenging because of the dps loss. And 40 is easier but theres no huge AR requirement.
Yeah but i dunno if i can persuade the others to do this. 90 mins of fractals and no class switching. Kind of takes the fun and diversity out of it.
Both me and gabe always switch classes and being stuck with one composition seems a bit boring to me. I can understand it sort of for dungeons, but fractals dont have the issue of being able to faceroll certain paths with 4 eles. And no sub is kind of hmmm.
Anyway we shall see. :P
Thanks. Thats all I wanted to know. :P
You could give us an example point system with incorrect values or no fractal names. Just so we understand how the point system is going to work. As it stands we dont know at all how its going to work and how accurate it will be. You need to explain it, even if you dont give us the final values.
Yeah there needs to be transparency. Also i thought the plan was to have all tournies run by independant parties so no guilds are excluded and theres no monopolising of rules (something you guys seem to want to do despite not being able to compete, which is very odd). I didnt even agree with DnT doing the first one but atleast they were transparent about the rules and open to discussion. For this tournament we dont really know what we are signing up for.
Why do you think class balance should be based around pug misconceptions? You take heavy classes because they’re just easy mode, not because they’re efficient.
Class balance in dungeons is fine, people are just dumb and think warriors are overpowered because apparently we’re still in 2012.
Its not fine though. :<
You have to consider how strong ele and thief damage is though. Especially with conjure burst. Necro damage has to be seriously strong to make you sacrifice a utility or buffer class for it or in thief and eles case, a dps class with the ability buff and provide utility. And even then it probably wont be taken most of the time because its still selfish. Not to mention if necro damage gets that high that is serious heading for being overpowered and a massive powercreep in other gametypes. Necro damage is fine as it is. Cleave would be nice. But the main thing is every buff and trait we have is purely selfish.
As it stands the current compositions barely have space for a selfish class like necro. Sacrificing one of the ele’s is the only option in many dungeons and that could mean you lose reliable swiftness or might stacking (depending on which ele build you keep). Sacrificing group might is not an option unless the necro is so far above the other classes that they can out dps everyone without might (which is just op). The only dungeons it would be ok to take a necro on are dungeons where you can stack 3 or more eles.

Well if it allows permanent vigor then yeah sure. But otherwise you basically destroy necros only method of gaining extra active defence. Which effects pve in a huge way but it also impacts pvp.
Well the damage buff would have to be so high that it would beat both ele and thief by a huge margin. And that would be pretty broken.
Its a lot simpler to just give necro more group orientated utility. And better group traits. Even making necro a better self buffer would make them popular as a pug class (might on crit trait would be amazing and would allow necro to compete with warriors forceful gs).
You cant nerf energy sigils without compensating the necro.
Yeah but it all depends on your point system. And even with a perfect point system (impossible), RNG can favour teams massively by giving them only their best fractals while others get stuck with only their worst fractals. Keep getting time gated fractals? re-roll. Oh you’ve lost time and potential good tier 3 fractal points. A picking system is vastly superior and completely different so I dont see why you are comparing to the DnT tournament.
I’m lost. Nemesis video is biased because shows necros are too good or that they are rubbish? I heard both takes on that video.
I really don’t get all controversy about that video. It only shows that Necromancer are not as bad, as I originally thought and in some cases can dish out decent amount of damage. People are angry because they thought Wariors are by far superior to Necros or because we can’t say that Necros are terrible all the time?
Its biased because he had favourable conditions for the necro and unfavourable conditons for the warrior. Yet he somehow managed to still get better DPS on the warrior. So its biased towards the necro because of the testing methods. But it actually makes necro look bad to more experienced players because of the results.
You should not compare classes when theres a zerg helping you. It completely skewes the results lol. You need to control the variables as much as possible.
Doesnt remove the issues though.
rabid/rampager with aristocracy runes
ive never seen a necro run more then flesh, does anyone do this, would this kitten los stacking? cause I wanna run my zoo of animals in dungeons, but I dont wanna kitten up stacks for everyone. So if I can run minions without kittening up corner abuse, id love to.
For absolute max single target dps in a situation where minions dont die you can take a few minions. Blood fiend, shadow fiend, Well of suffering, signet of spite and flesh golem. This is assuming fully buffed though. Otherwise you would want Blood is Power instead of shadow fiend.
@Ropechef.6192:
It is part of the challenge. It’s not a subject to change.
Gear gating is not a challenge. I would of suggested fractal 49. :P
Anyway this tournament seems like it would be far too stressful for competitors and thats coming from someone who loves fractals. Doesnt really appeal. Maybe anet can remove RNG rolling and then we can have a proper tourny.
Oh yeah i quite like the idea of banning paths. Just like league does it. Theres plenty of paths. If you only allow 1 or 2 bans per team you still have over 25 paths remaining to pick from.
(edited by spoj.9672)
rT’s team didnt have any prep. People were constantly online at different times. We will be restoring our reputation in the next tournies… Hopefully.
Im all for full wipe being your done. But i believe hard res should be allowed. It slows you down either way. and in some situations you may decide to finish with 4 rather than wasting time picking someone up.
And yeah if there is a full wipe, you should just move on unless the path is almost over. Noone cares about watching a casual run.
Yeah its where the folds are. Its really irritating and obvious though. You dont notice it if the colours are the same. Kind of ruins the costume for me because I cant dye it exactly how I want without putting up with a really obvious clipping glitch. I also ruined the costume for a friend on the first day we got it when i pointed out the clipping to him. x)
Also i cant see it on your screenshot. So it may be to do with our graphics settings. Can I ask what settings you have? A screenshot would suffice. Thanks.
And i agree I would prefer the dragon to be all on the same dye channel to be honest. But i can overlook that.
You can clearly see the clipping glitch right next to her hand on the right (left hip, second picture). If you want to see it more clearly just go in game and stare at the left hip/thigh. You cant miss it.
Dunno why you guys are bothering argueing with that clown.
My biggest issue is if you dye it so you can see the pattern. You can also clearly see a clipping glitch on the hip (can even see it on your second pic lol). If you dye the pattern all the same its not really noticeable. Kind of ruins the dye options. :<
UK slang lessons for 300g. Sounds reasonable to me.
L2slang Lilith!
ite = alright
Put a perception sigil on your underwater weapon and you wont lose the stacks when you unequip your terrestrial weapon with perception.
Does this still work?
Nope. There is a way to keep stacks and change weapons but its not possible in most dungeons and has a 50/50 chance for you to lose the stacks. I wouldnt recommend stacking anymore anyway.
Obviously wasnt late enough.
Anyway you asked if it was possible. Dub posted proof. Thats all there is to it. You can even take energy sigils if you are still strugging. But you certainly dont need them with engi’s blocks. You should also have permanent swiftness so theres no reason to be late back to him. :P
I had hoped i would never have to see this biased abomination of a video again. >.>
To those of you unaware. Most meta players are aware that necro is about equal in DPS when under equal conditions (decent amount of buffs). This video clearly shows bias towards nemesis’s build however. And doesnt do anything but make necro look bad (tests favour necro, poor warrior rotation yet warrior still out dps’s necro). His second video wasnt any better.
He doesnt dome if you understand how to avoid that attack (hint its nothing to do with the wall). He rapid fired plenty of times. Few times dub almost downed, but healing turret op.
Where is Zojja in this picture?
Leeching.
Loving Eric the casual quaggin in the background.
Yeah makes sense. Good luck to everyone. Hope theres no more drop outs. :P
Lol what. Even if they lost that first match they still would of got 30g. I dont understand some people. Is it not possible to allow people who didnt make the original list to replace them? Most tournaments have substitute teams incase of drop outs.
Its still good just for the cooldown reduction. I thought they fixed that bug, obviously not. :<
For alternative traits withering precision or focused rituals can be decent. Spectral attunement is nice if you run with spectral walk a lot. And if you are using Well of Darkness then chilling darkness is another nice trait to have.
Yeah thats fair. I just had the strange feeling that you could run through the poison with blocks like aegis. x)
They really should of stuck with consistant names for things. Projectile blocks should be called projectile destruction. I mean look at this for consistancy on projectile block tooltips:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shield_of_the_Avenger
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Swirling_Winds
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smokescreen
And blocks should be limited to blocks which block everything except unblockable attacks. So things like aegis, riposte, shelter etc. Bosses should also have tags for unblockable stuff. I know im asking too much for anet to improve consistency and clarity in pve. :P
(edited by spoj.9672)
If only there was a site with enemy attacks listed.
I checked your site. It says unblockable. But is that for the pulsing poison aswell. I know projectile blocks dont stop the poison. I tend to not trust things if they arent completely clear. :P
(edited by spoj.9672)
Im kind of annoyed that duplicate skins are even more useless than before. You use to be able to salvage them for ectos (they were statless exotic weapons). Now you have a useless transmute which only takes up bank space. Really hope we get a fractal vendor that allows trading of skins, rings and ascended boxes soon.
Well in optimized groups any condi damage is quite wasted as things die too fast. So yeah it would make for better solo builds most likely but it wont really fix the organized group issue. Especially in the case of necro as they dont have a decent hybrid weapon. Whereas engi has nade kit for a mix of condi damage and direct damage.
For ranger i would say buff greatsword auto a bit. And for fixing pets, i dont expect the devs to change anything because as you said pets are the classes core mechanic. But pets are a very large portion of rangers damage and buffing. However they die a lot especially in arah and fractals. Which means your personal dps and f2 utility drops quite significantly.
(edited by spoj.9672)
Spider queen has always been unreflectable (not true projectiles so only untraited warden works). And malrona and the orrian spiders have always shared the same mechanics. So when they changed malrona they changed the orrian spiders (auto copy/paste probably).
The mechanics between spider queen and malrona are very different so i dont know why they would feel they need to change things. Also you can block pulses from spider queen poison as far as i know (please correct me if im wrong). But you cant block the splash damage from malrona. Maybe it was an unintended change like alphard. We wont know unless they fix it. :P
Well warrior solo dps is very strong so the kill times arent too far behind the unholy trinity. But then the unholy trinity has a pretty poor run speed as a group. Ranger is fast, engi is ok but necro is really slow. Also there isnt much group swiftness which certainly doesnt help the ranger and necro if they have cooldowns. Warrior run speed means it can make up for a lot of lost time which is probably the main reason it was only 5 minutes slower. Theres a lot of running in arah.
As far as what needs to change. More mobility would help but that goes against anets core design for the necro atleast. Id say make necro less selfish with boons and give more utility/unique buff traits. Theres no point asking for solo dps buffs because the game is designed around group content. Engi just needs a bit more damage imo. And ranger needs less dependance on sword and pets to do respectable damage.
Well warrior can solo it in about 25mins. Bit awkward really. x)
Horrible cast time. Horrible range. Horrible radius. Only 3 player limit. Horrible cooldown. Horrible passive. Yeah it needs some changes.
Same should also be said about the guardians signet of mercy. But that has a lower cooldown.
(edited by spoj.9672)
I dont see why it wouldnt be.
I always considered projectile blocks as projectile destruction. Regular blocks work on splash damage from aoes. But they dont work on the splash damage from malrona’s aoes anymore. So there is a difference.
I dont understand why they make things undodgeable/unblockable anyway. Throws consistancy right out the window and causes further survivability imbalance between certain classes.
(edited by spoj.9672)
I really want to mess with Necro more in endgame PvE. I’ve already mastered Guardian and Warrior, so now I am stubborn enough wanting my Necromancer to do stuff instead of being a mule.
Dagger/Dagger is awesome! (Condi transfer, high damage, and blind!)
Problem is, what else can we do? I really want to pull my weight.
I’ve been testing out chill, and it seems I can mantain perma-chill even on bosses with Rune of Ice. Is that a good idea? Useful?
Nope. You will barely notice a difference to boss attack cooldowns.
