+ Laurent at the very least needs a ranged attack – shockwave from the hammer that knocks targets down. Additionally, link Laurent and his adds so they cannot be pulled separately.

Laurent already has 2 ranged attacks and one semi ranged attack. He throws a greatsword which knocks down and he roots people with immob from range (he uses both of these in melee aswell). He can also leap to you. You just dont notice these because groups burn him down fast against a wall. Wont be as much of a problem with fgs being nerfed.

I think hes fine as hes pretty challenging solo. Hes trivialised by fgs atm though. No changes need imo.

Btw, looking at it the guy in the screenshot at least used the rally-bug, that’s probably why the GM said “Legit”

Running away from a boss is not an exploit. Theres no justification in any form of ban if the boss is poorly designed. You could be low hp and run away to heal and the result would be the same.

Exploits would be safespots to attack the boss etc.

Its not really an exploit or the players fault if a boss doesnt reset when you walk out of range of a rooted boss. Its a design flaw. Completely unjustified ban.

Really disappointing. I was looking forward to a Mordrem dungeon. The mobs and bosses they have used in living story would make for a very fun dungeon. They would just need to make the bosses harder and have a few more attacks. Most of the work would be just designing the dungeon map. No need for puzzles, just fill it with mordrem. Oh well, i guess anet plan to let their game slowly die out.

To be fair, one dev did post on the forum saying it takes about 6-12 mths to make a map. Add dungeon to that map and I guess it will take much longer.

I wasnt expected the dungeon to appear at the beginning or mid season. I was hoping they were already working on one to add at the end. Its a huge let down. The mordrem theme could add a lot of fun enounters considering the mordrem mobs and bosses weve seen so far and the aesethetic could look amazing. TA is by far my favourite dungeon looks wise. Id imagine a mordrem dungeon would be very similar, but a bit more corrupted looking.

Thats what I was talking about. It was an intended mechanic. So there was no reason to change it. They could simply just reduce the scaling on the poison buff.

Either way the projectiles should be blockable because at the moment they are completely unreliable to dodge in melee range.

There was no problem with the reflect damage. I believe it was altered for another reason unintentionally. If the reflect damage is the reason then anet can just make the projectiles blockable but unreflectable. But the change was a terrible rushed solution.

Bug which is also relevant in TA and probably other places.

Spider spawns are already hostile and on the floor. At release they dropped down from the roof as you approached. One of the patches broke every single drop down spawn mob in the game and it was never addressed (spider packs in arah and TA, archers in first room of TA forward route and Malrona). All mobs are already spawned without you even being nearby.

True. One of the main reasons i still play gw2 is because of the dress up factor. But thats still a secondary feature. Gameplay, challenge and longevity are whats most important any game which isnt a pure dress up game.

The fact is that anet are wasting their combat system by keeping the game purely casual. Its honestly one of the best combat and build systems ive experienced. Such a shame.

Bugs

+ Up path – Spider groups and Malrona are already spawned on the floor. At release they dropped down from the roof as you approached and became hostile.

+ Forward path – First group of 6 archers are already spawned and neutral. At release they dropped down from the roof and became hostile when you reached the trigger point (walk near far side door).

+ Bring back Forward/Up as a 4th path.

+ Aetherpath – Remove/alter ooze puzzle so it is more pug friendly.

+ Aetherpath – Increase daily gold reward to 4g-5g.

+ Aetherpath – Make dialogues run in background. They shouldnt halt progress through unecessary time gating.

+ Aetherpath – Make all cutscenes skippable. Maybe remove some cutscenes and dialogues.

+ Up path – Make malrona’s projectiles reflectable or blockable again.

final boss fight too much

Well this thread is embarrasing. As soon as anet delivers slightly more complex fights people claim its too hard. Its really not hard. I honestly dont know what to think. I thought games were supposed to be challenging.

I want more than 10 times the difficulty of this fight for future stuff. But its a step in the right direction. Maybe you will learn how to play the game if anet continues to increase the difficulty. I can only hope. :P

I’d say people play games for fun, not challenge, but to many challenge = fun, while to some others the fun in the game may be the visuals, the activities they can do in the game, and other things that make up a game.

In short, I think games are supposed to be fun, whether it’s challenging or not depends on who is playing it, and who the target audience is.

If you play games for visuals etc you are probably better off watching films. Just saying. I dont think anyone buys games purely for visuals. Gameplay is important. And that usually involves some form of challenge to make you interact with the game. Obviously they are nice additions and make good games better, but the reason way play games is to play something interactive. If its not challenging then that interaction is somewhat numbed and the play experience becomes dull very quickly. You need challenge to increase the longevity of a game.

This is why most of us dungeon runners are now thinking of moving away from the game. With the announced no work being done on new dungeon content. The game looks like it is wasting its combat system and new content with high replayability is not a priority for anet. The games longevity will suffer in the longterm if this isnt revised. Unfortunately its too late for most of us. Which is a shame because the combat system is amazing and really suits challenging combat perfectly.

Although I agree, that necros do not have as much avoidance, they do have, protection, possibly the most powerful boon in the game, through converting invulnerability, ritual of protection, spectral armor, and spectral wall……………….I do feel they need a trait to offer at least some vigor though.

Protection is useless if you dont have the sustain to bring your hp back up. Which is pretty why necros are so bad at defence at the moment. We can take a lot of damage before going down but we have no way to bring it back up because we cant avoid, escape or heal enough when engaged. We either need far superior sustain (better than warriors) or more damage avoidance. Or both.

Lich does hit for less than LB per hit. But it fires faster so its more dps overall. What you are seeing is normal.

Slightly misleading op. But you can tell that they have no plans for anything anytime soon. They said dungeons will be left as they are for a while. So its fairly safe to assume they wont be adding new dungeons even if a Mordrem dungeon would of been the perfect vessel to add one.

The larger radius is a very minor advantage. It only pulses 6 times and black powder pulses twice as fast. The cooldown and duration/slow pulse time makes it very weak against groups of more than 5 enemies. Its better than nothing. Reducing the cooldown to 25 seconds would vastly improve the skills viability. Simply allowing you to get blinds again sooner in a drawn out fight (useful for cliffside seals).

Its cooldown means you cant really use it for every boss fight. Ignoring a skills cooldown is stupid. Cooldowns are incredibly important when deciding whether a skill is good or not. Compare black power with well of darkness for example.

Its also very long cooldown. Maybe if it had similar uptime to warrior signet it would be decent. But then that would be a bit much for stability i guess.

Its the predicted overnerf i was afraid of. What i didnt predict was the butchering of burning speed and burning retreat along with it. Sayonara D/F ele, you were so close to keeping up with LH. Alas, not anymore.

Wait, scaling down affects your ascended weapon to exotic level? Does that make ascended useless for anything but arah and coe exp?

It scales down the weapon power. Ascended gear still has bonus stat points. There is probably a slight difference even when scaled down simply because of stats. Although would be nice if Weth or frifox can confirm.

Mesmers mobility is actually pretty decent with runes of centaur + staff and blink. Its still one of the slowest classes. But it beats necro very easily.

Can’t you guys read? 100b 5% damage nerf, is transfered to the 8th hit. So basically the nerf is neutralized by the end attack damage boost.

No its not. They are nerfing the earlier hits by 5% but the final hit will remain the same. Its an overall slight nerf. But its less than 5% thanks to the final hit remaining unchanged. The whirlwind nerf is a bit more substantial. I think its fairly reasonable considering how easy warrior is to play however.

Preparation for a single teleport and juking morons is not the same as mobility. Its a 1 trick escape and if it fails thats it. Classes with mobility can keep using those skills without preparation.

Even so i dont think they will ever give necro real mobility. Id like some, but ive accepted that we probably wont get it. We do need far superior sustain and close range power if they dont address our lack of escapes. Hopefully the feature patch will address some of that. Although i wont get my hopes up.

Or maybe we understand all the classes very well? Ive solo’d dungeons etc on multiple classes. I play all classes pretty equally and thats often in duo/trios for dungeons & fractals. Necro can do fine solo. But its slow and incredibly frustrating in many places where other classes can simply use blocks or reflects. Best classes for soloing are ele, warrior, engi, thief and guardian. Mesmer, necro and ranger can also solo pretty well. But they have major issues in either options or dps.

And you guys are still misunderstanding. The op made it pretty clear that he doesnt want to play a class that has a lot of problems. I assume thats even if its fun to play. My impression of the op is that he is someone who has fun from being as useful as possible to the group (correct me if im wrong). Class aesthetic is just a bonus. This is how I and many players who follow the meta feel.

So yes it is his choice, he should give the class a go. But to say “ignore those elitists” is just moronic. Anyone who values being efficient will only find disappointment by maining a necro. Maybe you guys should accept that some people dont always have the same values as you when playing.

And thats what i dont get. I only really started playing video games 2000 onwards. And i can still appreciate challenge and wanting to improve yourself. I guess i had a pretty good introduction by watching my dad play doom, quake and half life as i was growing up. Why the hell are people so warped and lazy.

It’s less about when gamers started playing but rather when they were born/how they were raised. Typically people born mid-late 90s and up were/are part of the “everyone’s a winner, there are no losers” generation. Nobody was/is allowed to feel bad for not being as good as someone else in anything. They were/are raised to be extra sensitive and that if you hit an obstacle you can’t overcome, it isn’t because of you or your skills because you are perfect just the way you are, rather it’s because that obstacle isn’t accessible enough to everyone’s wide range of skills and thus needs to be changed or able to be bypassed so that no one feels like they are failing.

That’s why with this boss fight, the ones that have failed it don’t think to themselves “hmm, maybe I need to re-think my strategy here”, they think “wow, that boss is waay too hard, they need to fix it!”

Dunno when OP was born, but I would venture to guess mid-90s or later.

This is all hypothetical of course, I’ve done no research.

Guess i just missed out on being raised like that thankfully. Born 91.

You are misunderstanding. The op does not want to waste his time on a class that he will find disappointing later on down the road. For many people that value any form of efficiency or improving themselves that will be the case.

Its a valid concern. My personal recommendation would be to avoid the necro as a main unless you really dont care at all about anything other than how your character feels (basically roleplaying).

If you want a caster I would recommend ele. Its not a dark caster but its strong in all gametypes and is pretty satisfying to play. You can always make your ele look dark cosmetic wise.

Thats also the reason why i like playing mesmer in fractals. Its much easier to survive even when you are playing bad. And theres a lot of stuff you can do to make the run easier. I even prefer mesmer over guardian most of the time.

Soloing open world is easy on any class. Most classes do better at soloing dungeons than necro. Necros are good in hotjoin sPvP (its not hard to beat idiots). They are pretty bad in the higher tiers. Some players make them work. But they still suffer heavily from being focused.
