I’m not saying they’re not good or cool.

Infact they’re.

problem is we objectively have one less GM when compared to other professions.

I’m not even sayig it won’t work, it will.

I’m complaining about the fact that we’re the only proff having to PAY for its added mechanic.

It’s stupid.

No. Look at the big picture and donc compare the elite specs trait by trait it doesn’t make sense.

Well P/P feels like it can actually work very nicely with the Daredevil : big damage on interrupt trait + leap finisher on dodge (aka stealth on demand)

I think it’s more like the shader and utility textures used to render a player are setup differently between light, medium and heavy. And a player is probably rendered as a single operation.

We already had the 3 dodges with former acrobatics. The armor set, is basically new hat on top of already existing sneakthief set. >_>

Yeah just like all the other elite specs XD The new armor is just one new armor piece there too.

Then add 3 new GM traits to DD.

Seriously, it really doesn’t matter. I’m perfectly happy with getting a “weak” first minor trait in exchange to an awesome GM trait selection. There’s no need to compare each elite spec minor trait by minor trait. Look at the big picture.

This isn’t the pre specialisation remake patch. It doesn’t matter if a group of traits is GM or Adept really since you always get them all when you equip the trait line.

Are you saying the GM traits is our new mechanic? If so, why is it being gated by GM traits?

The fact it’s a GM or Adept trait will not matter much past the very start when you didn’t unlock the whole elite spec.

And why is it a major trait? So that you can choose which dodge you want to equip.

but other classes don’t give up a trait for it – they get it in their minor.

All the minor traits that apply to dodge either get a very small benefit or a rather long cooldown on it.

Compare for example the 2s swiftness on dodge thief can already get to the trait that replaces dodge with dash that gives you 8s swiftness and cures chill/cripple without cooldown.

And excuse me but, Leap finisher on dodge just plain rocks ! The only other trait in the game close to that power is the Engineer GM trait that makes the bombs they drop on dodge (with a 10s cooldown) count as blast finishers.

/P + leap finisher on dodge + 3 dodges + free dodge on steal. Think about it!

If u follow the pic orders impaling lotus ( whirl finisher) is a minor.

So u can take 3 dodge traits and having dodge doing all 3 things.

Too bad the reveal officially confirmed what I say : we’ll choose a new dodge as grandmaster.

I don’t think it can. Look, there are 3 traits that say they replace dodge. Can’t you see it? I bet all three are on the same trait level and it’ll be your choice which kind of dodge you use.

Also, the whirl finisher projectiles might cause you reveal if the timing is wrong.

But then your problem is that you are stuck with a cleric equipped thief.

And the problem with the Design from Anet lies directly on the hand on first sight…
They gave nothing the class, with that you become better to stand your ground and hold a point!!

Except for a lot more dodges, more endurance, more condition clear, more heals, more ways to refill endurance, a 8s cooldown stunbreak, a 8s cooldown channelled block and loads of control options.

The Skirmisher receives not “Physicals”, he receives as Utility Skill Type “Initial Moves”, that are their own form of Physicals, which are based on martial artistic multi string skills all

That was a question I had as well. Both my partner and myself wore pantsuits at our wedding and there was never any question of doing otherwise. With marriage equality being the law of the land where anet exists (and a few other countries as well) you would think they would assume there just MIGHT be some same sex weddings.

Is there some unwritten law that says all marriage ceremonies need someone in a tuxedo and another wearing a wedding dress? :p

Weapons and Skills locked behind Elite Spec

stof.9341

Why do you say that? Weapons are basically skills you equip. Look, the chronomancer and the warrior basically have just 2 new weapon skills XD

Why would it be easy to balance giving those two skills in the core spec and hard to balance giving the utilities?

You could very well say : I want the elite spec heal in the core. After all, it’s just one skill, it’s easy to balance!

stof.9341

Just because you suggested it, Nike, doesn’t mean there aren’t flaws to it. You have yet to provide a good reason for the Weapons to be locked behind a Spec.

Weapons don’t need Elites and Utilities added to go with them. They do not need a new Specialization to use them. That is something else entirely.

And, yes, you were trying to prove something. I said that Anet has never even hinted at letting a single class use the same weapon, with two totally different sets of weapon skills. You claimed that it was said and the directed us to that CDI (where it still wasn’t said by Anet).

Well why would a weapon be unlocked but not utilities? Weapons are basically skills you equip.

I see no reason why elite utilities and weapons should be treated differently : either all alaways available or all locked behind the elite spec.

Also the reason was given : ANet doesn’t want to have to do exponentially more work to balance each new elite spec in the chance that someone will want a 3 elite spec build. And this is the same for the weapons.

Dress/suit locked for each gender?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Extremely feminine gear that can not be worn by male characters and vice versa. Most of the gear styles of today’s games spring from rather outdated ideals of how women and men should look and what they should wear. More important, the fact that it suggests that a man that wants to wear women clothing can not do so, and the other way around.

Oh do you think dress models grow on trees? Do you think any company such as ANet that has to make money would be like :
“Manager: Very nice dress you just modeled Jack. It’s very cute and will surely get lots of sales! Now get on to reskin and make that fit on a man. We need you to spend days basically staring at a burly man in a cute frilly dress for that one sale we’ll miss from Ovalkvadratcylinder if that version isn’t available”

Nope, this won’t happen. There just isn’t the demand to justify the work of basically doing two versions of all outfits/armors just for that.

Unless they add new weapon types. Even before GW2’s release they mentioned possibly adding polearms at some point.

You do understand that each new weapon they add is one more weapon that engineer needs an elite spec for :p So the net result is the same.

stof.9341

This is a horrible reason.

While I disagree with you and others have pointed out why, I can give you another reason.

The range of weapons available to some classes (and the restriction of weapons available to others) is a part of class balance. If they were to add more and more weapons to all classes, the ones with the larger starting pool of weapons would soon run out of new weapons to gain, and then slowly lose that advantage as the other classes catch up to them. (And the more limited classes would slowly lose that disadvantage.)

By limiting the new weapons to being tied to an elite spec, they avoid this problem while still being able to bring new weapons to all of the classes. Engineers will never have all the weapons at once, they’ll have their current three picks plus one from the elite. The “plus one” can change, but they’ll never be on par with warriors or thieves.

Anet has stated that they’re working towards making sure all classes can use all weapons. Therefore, this reason is as flawed as your first. And, unlike Nike, I’ll actually give a direct source.

“What’s more is that the team is also working very kitten finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon and their own weapon skills for those previously locked weapons.”

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/7597/Guild-Wars-2-ArenaNets-Master-Plan-for-2013.html

That quote is actually from Anet and not some random player making suggestions on the forum.

But this quote is BS anyway. By the time the Engineer has all the weapons, the warrior will have had nearly twice the full weapon set in elite specs.

It is highly likely that sooner or later the warrior will receive an elite spec that actually changes the skills of an already existing weapon of his instead of adding a new one. Just cause that class is very close to have all the weapons in the first place.

It’s not about the damage a staff can do, it’s about the notion of a Thief with a staff. Why not give him an elephant companion. That should fit the role of a thief just as good as a staff.

Baseless assumption. I’m sure thief will be fine with a staff as a melee weapon. For sure it’ll be much better than an Hammer or Greatsword as our 2H melee. Now those are weapons that do not fit the thief role at all.
