You have to press it to not be stomped. What the others are saying is that during those critical moments, you can still be in the middle of being rezzed by other classes during stomp preventions.

And as a thief you have to port away from the stomp, which usually puts you in breaking distance of the res attempt in the process. I don’t see the problem really.

In exchange it’s the best position relocation #2 skill in the game allowing you to move to a better spot to be resurrected without the thief teleport restrictions.

BTW, thief and mesmer #2 also can break channeling res no? If you teleport too far away.

What is wrong with using Shortbow for AoE situations and switching to P/P for single target situations?

The Ricochet removal was probably done because Shortbow is the AoE weapon and Pistol the single target one.

Caithe is OP simply reading that statement “Her elite is an 8s stealth that doesn’t reveal you when you attack

So for 8 seconds you could attack someone whilst being totally stealthed is madness. Unless you typed that wrong and meant something else.. but that is just off the rails OP.

You should have read the rest of the sentence. It also mentions that her “backstab” also shadowsteps you from like 1200 range away to your target. And since it doesn’t reveal, it’s massively enjoyable :p

Although I think the most OP thing in her toolset is the fact the 3rd dagger autoattack chain skill applies basilisk venom.

Well, you’ll probably need more than a month of pure farming to get the other mats for the legendary, so what’s the issue exactly?

Also, Ascended items are account bound and not soulbound so you are kind of expected to move them around somewhat.

It is a power boost to craft this stuff. It’s stupid to do it in a horizontal way when you could do it in a vertical way and apply stat bonuses as soon as they are possible to hasten the farm for the other items.

But the main issue with Rev damage isn’t the trait lines available.

Sure they do matter in the end, but the Rev problem is purely with numbers first : the weapons have weak damage coefficients and low condition application.

But this is just number tweaking, which is easy. Maybe not easy to get perfect but easy to get to a OK spot. And you know what? I rather like it with Rev weak like that in the beta test because you can already see the kittenstorm it’d be if Rev was on the other hand too strong in damage for the sPvP and WvW crowd :p

Technically, if you look at the interface, it feels like all is in place to allow you to customise your 6-10 talents depending on your legend.

For sure, Revenant would feel a little short on utilities if all he had was those that come by defaut with 4 stances.

It’s not written at all but that sustain actually makes a Light Field. And you can keep that sustains a very long time. Oh and hammer autoattack is a 1s cast 100% projectile finisher.

The combo of the two make for a very long duration projectile immunity field + condition removal combo. I’m sure there must be a couple PvE encounters around that can make use of that

Staff is direct damage melee, hammer is a high range direct damage weapon (1200) with control. Mace is a mace, melee with a hint of condition damage.

So yeah, it’s expected staff will be the strongest direct damage weapon so far :p

Well it does feel at times that thief select their elite not for their elite status but by default :p

ANet should allow us to use any non heal talent in the elite slot. And when that happens, ANet knows it’s time to nerf a talent or buff the elites.

A trick I found while using one of my “level to 20” scrolls : don’t close the second window, just open the next level up bonus.

That way, you’ll only have one extra clic to do when you have multiple level ups in a row.

What about having the trigger area rectangle, but the effect area a circle?

It was already the case. At the start, the effect area was a circle that was smaller than the rectangle on the sides. Which as a result meant people that triggerered the trap on the sides would not even get affected by it.

I’m not sure how they changed the effect area after that though.

Nope, that 6% that you’re getting comes from the WvW bonus medic. If you go in the pvp lobby, you’ll still see the old value.

The trait originally increased the duration of a Fury stack by 2s, but ANet changed it to avoid what you describe. Now it gives you a new 2s stack of Fury.

And since Fury has a cap on the number of stacks you can have, like every boon/condition/other you’ll not get 1h of fury (unless the cap is at 1800 stacks which it probably isn’t)

There’s probably a bug with that lightning shield thing from Elem when they combo it with the trait where they strike someone when they disable it.

In your case, I suspect that lightning shield to stun back the Mesmer, when he stuns you via Mirror of Anguish. And the way those effects fire off each other, it’s very possible that they apply in a loop before the cooldown on Mirror of Anguish is actually recorded.

Ok, that’s an explanation but it does feel rather random XD

The small hits are around half the power of the explosion so having phoenix double dip on those is 50% more damage than “normal”.

My leveling elementalist noticed that agaisnt completely solo creatures, even immovable ones like giant wurms, a phoenix aimed right behind a mob will hit 5 times, 5 “low” damage values and 1 higher. That’s not how it should work right?

As far as I remember, in ESO the reset option is required because, yeah you have more skill points you need.

But the problem is that you spend those skill points to specialize all your skills once. You have two choices. And you cannot learn both sides of the specialization. So if you choose the wrong one, the only option is to reset the talent and spend your points on the other side.

As for GW2, a reset option is in my opinion not worth it. Other games make you pay to reset. Well in GW2 you pay too : you just get new HP to learn the new talents. And HP are so easy to get it’s actually cheaper to just earn them to unlock what you wanted to try than to pay for a reset in other games.

So yeah, it’s not my usual choice (I do like my MMOs to have full free resets and stat respecs, at least in town) but GW2 takes so little effort to just learn everything I don’t think it’s worth fighting for a kind of respec feature.

That HP increase + crit also has another subtle effect : Soldier gear isn’t the optimal direct damage set to use in those fights anymore. Zerk is.

I’m pretty sure Shadow’s Embrace removes a condition on entering stealth. Yet I see many say it doesn’t. Could it be a difference between sPvP and the other modes?

Edit : can confirm, at least in the mists, it does remove bleed on entering stealth.

What I mean mostly here is that, I don’t think ti’s the fact the average TTK lowered a lot that people like so much as the fact the highest TTK got lowered a lot :p

I’m pretty sure TTK was infinite in some situations before the patch XD

While it’s late and I’m running on fumes, is direct damage not mitigated by toughness? Conditions have no such mitigation to my knowledge and , while I may be misremembering that difference, that is what’s breaking combat right now.

Add mitigation for conditions and we’re back on track.

Migation for condis is condi clear and vitality.

Vitality mitigates direct damage too so isn’t something we should talk about here really.

I do find damage to be a little high, but on the over hand I didn’t really enjoy the bunkering from before.

If TTK is to low as it seems, I think ANet should lower damage, but if they do I’d like them to lower sustain/healing too. It wasn’t tankiness that caused the “boring” bunker fights but their ability to sustain and outheal a lot of damage.

The current situation will probably change cause it looks buggy. I guess the Thief hating intern that though to sneakily nerf us with an undocument change didn’t knew that “RemoveBuff(STEALTH)” would only remove one stack of stealth.

Ok, using backstab will apply revealed and remove one stack of stealth. But if you don’t remove the last stack of stealth you have, you remain both in stealth, and revealed at the same time.

Try that with shadow refuge. Backstab once at the start of the refuge after you got two stacks and you’ll be immune to the further pulses while still invis a moment.

Will he do the same with CC? I don’t know how they add 10 stacks for 4 seconds which you can’t really transfer since it’s such a low duration WHEN AT THE SAME TIME WE HAVE A SKILL THAT HAS ONLY 3 STACKS FOR A MUCH LONGER DURATION that’s actually worth transferring…

I guess the point is that, if you were ready to transfer conditions, why not transfer the whole bunch instead of purging them with consume conditions?

So having a short duration vulnerability post consume condition is meant for you to wait it out rather than transfer it back I suppose.

Well you can still prepurchase only when more info is available. For example, you wait until the last moment before HoT releases, or you wait until after the first few beta events to see the feedback?

Yes prepurchasing blindly isn’t a good thing but there might be a point where enough info is available at all where you’ll feel confident in what you’ll get? Until then, just wait and see.

A lot of the counter arguments are missing the main point. We technically paid for a VIP edition of the game, and due to other complaints, Anet changed the product after we paid for it.

Now that does feel like entitlement. I payed more to be a VIP, I don’t want those dirty regular edition peasants to have a slot like me! :p

You’ll have to deal with it here. People will complain much harder about not getting something they feel they need, than about getting something they feel they don’t need.

Also, don’t forget that a char slot can always be converted into extra account bound bank space for cheap.

As for rationality, would you have bought something else if the deal was as it was known today?
