if your avoiding the zerg, your doing WvW right. the zerg is not the army you need to worry about, it’s the small man groups taking all your supply camps/sentrypoints/killing your dolyaks, and choking your supplies. Those are the ones you need to worry about.
tPvP is not WvW.. in WvW stealth still is very much allowed to be used to cap objectives, and to hinder objectives from being capped.
you keep running with your zerg, that is the only way you see yourself effective and fine, with you and you zerg, you need not worry about getting killed by me and my fellow overpowered thieves.

one can say that the about anything, but regardless, i’m stealth, they can’t see me, so i can easily run in and out of any danger they throw at me.
stunbreakers are not necessary. Any damage i do sustain, i quickly heal back while in stealth.
I’m not trying to say i’m a better player then you, or anyone else, i’m clearly saying, the mechanic this class offers, is all reward, and no risk. And this mechanic is allowing me, a player that is not even sporting exotic berserker gear, to slaughter many, many players,1v1, 1v2, 1v3,1v4…1v5 =(

steal is a shadow step, infiltrators arrow is a shadow step.
remember, it’s a stealth build, you are not being targeted. you don’t need a stun breaker for what you are doing.

OP you have plenty of berserker gear, you are not tanky what so ever considering thieves are in the lowest bracket of health amounts together with guardians and elementalists.
Also testpig give me your build, 5 kinds of stealth and a glass cannon build?

Stop using signet of malice, it’s only wonderful for leveling up, and spaming dagger storm.
with the above build, you get:
Steal: stealth for 3 seconds (regen/ 5Initiative/Fury/Might/swiftness(helps close the gap quickly for the first backstab )
CnD: stealth for 4 seconds (Might/regen/ +2initiative
Hide in Shadows: Stealth for 4 seconds (and Might/heal/regen/2Initiative)
Shadow Refuge: Stealth for 4 Seconds(10seconds if you wait it out, Might/heal/regen/ 2 initative)
Blinding Power: stealth for 4 seconds ( Might/regen/2initiative)
Signet of shadows: 25% movement speed

ASP, then you are not the type of thief playstyle players are worried/complaining about.
Any thief that is not blinking in and out into combat (causing the target player(s) to lose their target over and over again, and being able to add another point of reducing the damage to himself) is not playing the class in the overpowered broken mechanic way.

i have glass canon build, with 5 forms of stealth, and health regen while stealthed.
i’m invisible for most of my fights, i have 10k hitpoints, but it didn’t matter as i hardly ever get touched.
SR tends to be used as just another form of instant stealth to line up another instant backstab on the player.

Wait, by “perma-stealth”, are you talking about the person just… using CnD, waiting it out, then using CnD again immediately after? Just that, and not much else?
I can see how that might be annoying, but… it’s not like they’re winning any fights.
And where does Backstab fit into that, since using it gives you Revealed.
You think CnD is the only form of stealth to be used in combat? do you even play this class?
I have 5 forms of stealth that can be used during any combat… backstab chain, to heart seeker, to CnD and repeat.. is very easy, and if your CnD cost is not up yet, just popping into stealth with any of the other 4 forms of stealth can generate enough int to backstab and CnD yet again.

topic says it all, my main toon was a guardian, and i put in about 400 hrs on her, and just always felt the class was not where it should/could be.
I rolled a thief, just for kicks, just to study the class. The gap between what each class can do, is insane.
I will play this this, and abuse it and all it’s broken features, until it is forced to be nerfed to the ground.

repairing oil/canons would be a reason to have to use supply from the keep/tower =) if it’s underseige, you use what you can to save the keep/tower. As chances are, those dolyaks trying to make it to the keep, so the workers can finish building those useless waypoints someone order is never going to happen =)

Defenders would have to decide… the keep has 100 supply in it, repair oil? repair doors? repair canon? let it stay there for the building to upgrade? build more siege instead?
it’s a good option, it also works for attackers, they can decide to repair the cata that is taking damage, or repair the ram that is hurt.. or repair the golem that took a beating in the last fight.

You know who is level 80 and who is not, by the simple green arrow on the players name.
-6kdamage from an upgraded objective NPC, yep. happens to everyone.
-not level 20, did not have the green arrow near the players name.
-again, on avg i do 6k-10k backstabs, and ave 2k-5kheartseekers
-WvW is not the worst example you can pick, it’s the standard. because it is what most players will be playing for the majority of the time that do WvW/PvP
-Warrior is not invisible. You know what and where to avoid.

I leveled up a thief to learn how to counter it better. Got to 80, put on some yellow berserk gear. Went to WvW, had some fights. Fun class. but broken class, broken in the way that it’s a bit to powerful. On avg, my backstabs are hittinfg from 6k-10k…. and i just feel this is a bit to much for what the class can do outside the lines of overall game balance.
-Stealth should not allow you to cap or delay an objective.
-Backstab should cost points to use
-When damaged in stealth, you should become slightly visible(as if you are still 90% in stealth, with no name appear)
-when you use any of your weapon abilities while in stealth, stealth should break, even if your attack is missed, or blocked, or evaded.
That will then justify the raw damage this class can easily perform.

Currently, Cannons, and Oil are pointless keep upgrades. Because once they are up, they are burned down instantly. Allow players to use supplies to repair the siege/golems.

Just change the power levels on the orbs, as well as put a drawback to having to many orbs.
Your realm controls:
1 ORB: 5% increase to damage/healing
2 ORB: 10% increase to damage/healing, keep/tower walls/doors your team controls take 5% extra damage
3 ORB: 15% increase to damage/healing, keep/tower walls/doors your team controls take 10% extra damage
Out manned buff:
keep/tower walls/doors your team controls take %Less Damage
Siege Engines Deal % more damage and take % less damage
please don’t take away our ORBs, they bring so much value to the WvW lakes, and help push the battle and focus on some keeps over another. Making one team make a tough call as to what they really need to defend and focus.

PvE until level 10, then mix in some WvW and PvE until level 30.. by that time, you should have a better understanding on your class, and wont be overwhelmed by the select of tools you get when you are in sPvP

Thanks for the very informational post, we currently sent out a few members from our guilds to scout out the feel and vibe of each servers WvW community (as well as the PvE presence)
I myself have landed in Borlis Pass, and have been holding in Enternal Battle grounds all day today (from 10AM -4pm est ). On 2 of my toons, Lieph Phylum, and Qute Vex.
Logged in today to find that Borlis owned nothing in EB!, and with a small crew of about 4-8 players, we managed to take back 2 towers, and the Borderkeep. Many players were very willing to follow a new name without having to use the commander tool(surprising).
I then logged on to Qute Vex, and lead the troops as a lowbie, and again, the players on Borlis were very open to follow, and try new tactics. Allowing us to take over and secure all of the Borlis Pass turf, as well as capture Stonemist Castle from GoM while we were under the affect of the outmanned buff all day!
Was a pretty good experience, After which a player with the active commander tool logged on, and i went silent, as to respect the servers current chain of command.
So whoever i was facing today from Anvil Rock, and Gates of Madness, in EB, /Salute.. was some good fights =)

I’m on SoR[Sanctum of Rall] server, I have been on this server (with my guild) from the start of this server. It was once a nice inbetweem server with decent que times, and an active WvW population, and would go up against servers that greatly out numbered us, and we would push and win.
Now it is a mess, tons of zerg guilds, WvW against nothing. As the other realms don’t even show up to the fight anymore.
In a nut shell, i want to be the underdog again, but don’t want to be in a server that my guild is the ONLY guild out in the WvW lakes.
So what are the WvW actions like in the last 6 servers?

perhaps, escorted dolyaks could reward an extra +5 supply to the tower/keep for each player that has helped the dolyak reach his destination.
and on the other side of that, killing a dolyak could reward a +5 supply(past your current cap) to the player(s) that killed it.

The reason why people bash you and your guild in game is for the following.
-Zerg Guild: Spamming guild invites to anyone that walks by, constantly spamming in lions and in the WvW lakes that your guild is recruiting.
-Trying to get all guilds to disband and join your guild, to have one mega zerg guild.
-Not earning your commander books. 1000 gems currently buys like 3 gold, how much RL cash did you spend for your zerg book?
-Wasting Slots in the WvW/EB: having your guild meetings in the WvW for hours, taking up much needed slots which could be used for active players.
-Misleading the pugs with you commander title
-Telling Pugs to follow you instead of the commanders that are currently in the lake leading
Many of the good guilds in SoR, such as VIG, EPIC, FMC, WAR, just to name a few, leave any borderlands you and your zerg join, because you instantly do something foolish the moment you enter the battle field.
Now don’t get me wrong, zerg guilds have their much needed place, you are perfect for throwing bodies at a door over and over again(not actually setting up a ram or anything) while the guilds with tactics go make a difference using you and your guild as a distraction.
Here is some advice, talk less, spam less, and just lead your guild in /g chat. People that see you taking an active roll will most likly follow you into battle, and then want to join your guild.
My guild does not recruit, we play the game, we are in the battle field, and we get a constant feed of players looking to join us… why? because we are fighting a long side them in the field, and not in the spawncamp spamming recruit messages.
Anywho, if you want to make a name for yourself, and your guild, get off SoR, and join the server on the bottom of the list, and bring it to the top!

Many post/players seem to have a misunderstanding on how games work. They think they are entitled to win, that things are not fair, they keep losing during “off-peak” hours. They are totally out-manned, out-gunned, out-classed, and there is nothing they think they can do about it.
They look at the score and think “welp, they have a 100k point lead, no reason to go into the WvW anymore”. My server has been the underdog server many times, and heck even the “Big Dog” server once or twice. There is something that myself and my guild has quickittenaken a grasp of to focus on the enjoyment of the game, and not the score which tends to really hinder some players.
The score does not matter. Sure for the overall server the score is great for server ego. However if your server isn’t able to really press that score, what do you do then? how do you make a difference? well, you could run from keep to keep, zone to zone, trying to take Orbs, and keeps, and castles, and just end up being crushed the moment you appear at the relic keeps door. Or you could change the way you determine victory. Set objectives which are not about the taking a castle in the enemy lake. but instead, taking and holding, a supply camp. Learning the terrain, setting up siege and defending this single point, from overwhelming odds. You will soon discover that it is very very possible to defend these smaller objectives, and earn yourself some much needed victories.
Large populations tend to dumb down the players. As as they get crushed at your objective, they will learn to avoid it, which lets you press onward until you lay siege on a tower, and repeat.
Keep in mind, these objectives have zero value to you, other then to allow you to farm the entire other realm. If you lose it, you just take another one, and repeat. A small group of 5-10 players, taking on the zerg… is a wonderful feeling =)

it’s sad, the skill already ruined the flow of combat because of forced stationary cast time. If it could be cast on the move then maybe, it would be a justfied nerf.
But we needed those 3 seconds just to get back to running!

If you’re very good at timing, there’s more than 1 build where you can re-stealth almost immediately after stealthing. The “fade-in” time covers a lot of gap, so you can be off-screen for like 95% of the fight.
So there is a bug with the fade in mechanic which allows the player to be stealth for 95% of the fight.
that might be a problem that should be looked into.

-Turn off other commander icons on the mini map/map (i don’t want to see 100 blue dots of people that bought gold online to buy that book. i want to pick the blue dot i wish i see/follow)
-Change the WvW commander to a Guild upgrade, which allows guilds to have their own private Commander which only the guild can see and earn. Then when a player join a WvW, a UI window can be called that shows “PUBLIC SQUADS/COMMANDERS” and then players can join it, and thus follow as many blue dots as they wish.
-also the option to join multi commanders to see more blue dots.
