Just my thoughts:
Small damage nerf should be fine. I’m not talking about 50% here (lolwut?), more like 10-15%. I really hope that anet sticks to their “small changes” philosophy. Have you ever played a confusion Mesmer in PvP? It’s a worthless build. The main problem is that confusion is the only reliable condition for Mesmers, cause all the other conditions are random. You simply can’t stack 15+ bleeds as other classes if you want to. Nerfing confusion (or reverting it to its original state) would kill all condition Mesmers (yay for build variety). As others have already said, you have to trait heavily to get confusion right (duration, proc on shatter etc.).
Yes, it can hit pretty hard, there’s no way denying that. But at the same time, a confusion/condition Mesmer doesn’t really have any other major source of damage. Winds of Change has a 2/3 chance to get a useful condition on a slowly moving projectile. Illusionary duelist can stack up to 8 bleedings if traited and if you’re lucky (it’s also pretty easy to dodge) – if you’re using pistol offhand. Besides that, I think it’s funny that some people come up with “it’s an unskilled condition”. Tell my, how are any of the other conditions “skilled”? They do damage over time, and the target can’t just neglect all damage by simply doing nothing.
I have to agree that confusion shouldn’t proc on dodge skills. This is a valid argument and I have to agree. Thank god that there are people here who don’t just QQ about anything.
I would love to see confusion like this in PvP. Shatter/Phantasm all the time is boring.
LETS GO MANTRA
I really like the approach you guys are doing with small changes. However, small changes just at the end of every month feels painfully slow and often leaves classes for a long time with some issues caused by the last patch. Just take the quickness nerf as an example, and the problems warriors are facing right now (talking about PvP right now). I understand that the most obvious gamebreaking issues are often hotfixed, but this is not enough, at least in my opinion.
Seriously, I like small changes. The only problem I have with them is the current frequency. Balancing once every month may work for a game with already good balance, but some classes are really struggling with few REALLY viable builds out there. Again, I am mainly talking about PvP here.
Why are we not introducing a balance patch at the 15th of every month, in addtion to the monthly content patch? Still with small changes, of course. No content, no features. Just balancing and maybe some bugfixes you guys are ready to ship.
The benefits would be really cool. Faster progress in balancing, more interaction within the progress (forum feedback etc.) and you guys have more room for small (!) experiments in balancing. Noone would expect a big patch (as it would be announced as a balance only patch), there would probably be not even more work for the balance team around Karl, just ship the stuff you have ready at that moment. Noone wants half-baked buggy stuff, of course.
I really want to hear other opinions on this.
Think about it!
Thanks for reading

More obvious visual indicator? Isn’t your toons head like, glowing ’n stuff?
I am confused now.
Also, when you’re fighting another Mesmer 1v1 and there’s no NPC target around: Shatter your phantasms, go invis. No more porting away, hooray!
It’s a skill that you must place yourself, therefore there’s no LoS requirement. Same goes for all skills of that type (as far as I know), for every class. It also servers as a reflection wall when traited, and as a speedbuff. Adding a LoS requirement would make it absolutely useless for those purposes.
How does every other class get a line of sight nerf and skill rework that is in the interest of “balance”, but mesmer does not?
Not true. Mesmers got their phantasms reworked to require LoS some months ago.
Staff is amazing as a defensive weapon in WvW. Phase Retreat + Chaos Armor saved my life so many times. The autoattack is also very devastating if you have Illusionary Elasticity (VII in the Illusions tree) and get close to the enemy. The Warlock is just a nice addtion to that and can also hit pretty hard.
I suggest you watch some videos from SevenMirror or some of the other awesome guys posting here to get some ideas of how to use the staff properly in WvW.
I’m fine with the change. Now reduce the cooldown to 180s and everything’s perfect. :0

Pretty, please?
Interference – I will cry myself to sleep the day it happens.
Piercing – I will not sleep that day.Ahah same.
So much GS love though (if piercing). Where is Scepter and Torch love ANet
?
Confusing images probably will also get affected by this buff, since it’s a beam as well
Especially #3 has always been an issue. <.<
If you remove the time frame, you would have to drastically decrease the damage (if it scales with condi damage), otherwise confusion would be really overpowered, I think. Especially in WvW (and sPvP, if you buff the damage there).
That’s basically the main problem here, finding a good solution for both NPC-enemies and player-enemies, cause they act so different and this is a condition that relies heavily on the basic behaviour of the enemy.
By the way – I DO believe that a build fully dedicated to confusion could be fun (just check out WvW), that’s why I want it to be more viable in PvP and PvE. Moar build diversity, huar!
Here’s another idea:
Remove the time-frame, keep the intensity stacking. It kinda makes sense – the more confused you are, the more you are hurting yourself. Stacks will decrease with each skill activation. So high stacks really hurt alot, but the damage will decrease with each casted skill. This way, if you put all the confusion you have on the enemy, you really get some reliable damage, even if the enemy is cleansing the condition.
Damage numbers should probably be toned down a bit, otherwise this would be with no doubt overpowered.
I think would be a good/interesting solution for both PvE and PvP, and it would get much more reliable compared to direct damage or spam-able conditions like bleeding and poison.
I really like where this thread is going, there are some interesting ideas so far. Just keep it going!

Hey guys, tetro here.
I just want to hear your opinion about confusion and if you’re happy with it overall. Why?
Cause I’m not. Not at all.
The thing is, I like the basic idea of confusion, and it’s somehow THE major condition within our class, but it’s so underwhelming sometimes, it hurts. It just doesn’t work in sPvP and PvE. In WvW it’s fine (at least for me) so I’m gonna split my post up from here on:
WvW:
As I said, this is probably the only part of the game where Confusion builds can get you somewhere. Confusion damage is calculated with the standard PvE formula, but used on human targets. It actually hurts when you cast a skill while under confusion. The duration of confusion isn’t really long (3s for most of our skills), but because of the high damage, the target actually has to think if he/she uses a skill during that time.
For me, this is how it should work. As a mesmer, you have to put alot into condition damage and pick certain traits to make confusion a useful condition. Not only that, you really have to put a lot skills on cooldown in order to get this stacked high enough. The only problem I see here is – doesn’t matter how much effort you put into a confusion build or how much skills you put on cooldown, the enemy can neglect all of the confusion damage by simply casting one cleansing skill.
One.
But as I said, I’m kinda happy with how confusion works in WvW. The high damage output works most of the time, probably because other players underestimate the power of big, fat stack of confusion.
PvP:
I really tried to run with a “Confusion Lockdown” build for a while. It just doesn’t work (or I’m just too stupid). The damage output is so low (in combination of the short duration) that even high stacks of confusion don’t do much to the enemy. Not only that, you can still neglect all the damage by cleansing skills/traits.
Confusion isn’t a condition that you can spam, like bleeding. It doesn’t last very long and can’t be stacked in duration, like poison. As I said before, you have to put alot into it to get high stacks on the enemy, much more than most of the other conditions.
PvE:
Lulz. Seriously, no. The attack speed is so low for most of the NPCs, it isn’t even worth thinking about relying on confusion damage.
Possible solutions? I don’t know. Maybe the return of the glorious Hex Spells from GW1, maybe change the way it works (without making it overpowered).
Heck, I don’t even know if my PoV is somehow reasonable, or if I’m overreacting on this. It probably just bothers me how underwhelming confusion is at the moment. It could be so awesome, but for me, it isn’t.
This is my opinion, and I don’t say I’m right. I just want to hear you folks on this topic. There is probably a lot more to say, and I’m excited to hear other opinions on this. I’m just too tired right now to continue, so. Good Night.
… and sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language.
Yup, I can confirm this. I was really excited to use the torch, but I’ll wait until this is fixed.
C’mon anet, hotfix plox!
Doesn’t work properly for me, so I guess there’s no fix
Bug Fixes
Sylvari who use the Total Makeover Kit can now adjust their glow.

Finally, thank you!
Sooo the prestige is no longer channeled. Does this mean we can dodge roll and such while using it? Will torch become more useful to us?
Yes.

Yeah nerf portals ……. stupid patch….
why do they nerf mind stab? wtf?! it’s already useless……… Now it doesn’t even deserve to be called a weapon skill… I really don’t get their balance philosiphy…I believe it’s about main-hand sword’s #1 3rd chain.
Before this patch 1st and 2nd chain hit 3 targets but 3rd chain (mind stab) hits the targeted one only.Portal should be largely useless now…
Oh lol, totally forgot that we have ANOTHER skill with that name. Yeah, you are probably right.
Wouldn’t consider the portal change as a nerf, it’s a fix imo. Just means that you can’t press “F” when there’s something between you and the portal (that’s how I understand the patchnote)
Mind stab was “meh” and it’s still “meh”. Don’t care about that skill… never got 5 targets into that small AoE anyways.
I LOVE the update for the prestige. Awesometastic!
Sad thing is… still no fix for illusionary leap. :/
Got my refund, thanks. Now please, make that fix happen asap xD
+1
C’mon arenanet, fix this please >.<
Can’t believe this bug still exists…so sad :/
Congrats on your first video! I enjoyed watching it. That’s some nasty confusion damage you got there
Skills I don’t use/like:
Arcane Thievery - I just prefer Nullfield. Maybe reduce the CD of that skill and I ‘ll think about using it xD
Mimic - Karka farming only (and I don’t do that)
Mantra of Concentration - This one’s actually pretty cool, but I prefer Blink/Decoy for stunbreaking.
Mantra of Distraction - Tried it in PvP, dumped it afterwards. It’s not that bad, but there are better utilities for PvP.
Mantra of Pain - Don’t like it. Even when traited, this thing sucks. The only positive thing about it is the short CD in combination with Restorative Mantras. Other than that, it’s just a utility skill that brings no utility and poor damage (autoattack sometimes deals more)
Mantra of Resolve - Again, I’m using Nullfield. A condition removing, boon stripping combo field? Hell yeah.
Phantasmal Defender - Maybe useful for bunker builds, idk. Bunker Mesmers aren’t that effective (anymore).
Phantasmal Disenchanter - Sometimes I need condition cleansing out of combat, and you can’t summon Phantasms without target. Another problem with phantasms is that they aren’t reliable. Maybe the enemy casts AoEs at the same time – boom, utility wasted.
Signet of Domination - There are better ways to improve condition damage without wasting a utility slot.
Signet of Midnight - lulwut?
Signet of Inspiration - Don’t like the randomness. After the shattered strength (re-)nerf, the active effect is also kinda useless for me.
Signet of Illusions - still bugged (?). Active effect is awesome.
Some skills aren’t that bad, but they suck compared to other ones imo.

I have to agree – especially illusionary leap NEEDS to be fixed. This skill is basically useless in uneven terrain. Fix that and I won’t even complain about the crappy range, since it’s crippling and immobilizing.
Clones summoned by deceptive evasion that are attacking the nearest enemy and not the target is also frustrating as hell sometimes.
To be honest, I don’t expect this to be fixed any time soon, cause there are so many AI problems (Ranger Pets, Necro Minions) that are even worse.
video? pleeeease
it will probably be posted soon
Just go to the GW2GURU channel at own3D.tv.

The SotG starts with part #2.
Just checked Lyssa and Melandru, but the one I’m looking for does not seem to exist. Both vendors only offer Vitality/Precision/Healing Power.
Thanks for the link Zimlobo.
http://www.gw2armor.com/sylvari/female/karma/light/display.php
The armor isn’t available for sale according to gw2armor.
That kinda sucks, cause I already bought the other 4 parts (shoulders, pants, gloves, mask) with these stats.
Thanks a thousand times! x)
Hey guys, I really hope someone can help me.
Is there any way to aquire these items?

I think I’ve checked all karma vendors, but there’s noone seeling the armor with these stats.
Thanks in advance!

By the way, the Zerker still lands only one hit every now and then. Anyone else experiencing that?
Don’t feed the troll
This is a serious issue, and it’s good to see people reporting bugs like this instantly.
Yup, tested it too. Second attack is missing the target… <.<
Free and Paid tournaments now have a new build-locking feature. When the countdown timer completes, players will no longer be able to change weapons, armor, skills, or traits until the match is over. This will prevent players from abusing build-swapping between fights.
So, basically no weapon swapping on focus for the speed buff anymore if you don’t have a focus build in tPvP.
Great patch, but i still see no reliable swiftness.
Here’s a pic of the issue, maybe this is useful for you devs.
As I said before, it kinda looks like a bug with the specular map.
Messing around with the slider or using the kit while nighttime does not help.
(edited by tetrodoxin.2134)
My Mesmer, Leyinn (Main Char). VERY happy with the look.
I’d prefer to see the PvP go completely F2P, with maybe 2 character slots that can only enter the mists. If you want to see WvW or PvE, you’ll still have to buy the game.
@ImagoX
You have to turn the light off in order to see the glow effect, cause Sylvari only glow in the dark.
I tried the makeover kit today and have the same bug as Veronikah.1784:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Total-makeover-kit-sylvari-glow
No glow effect at all, only a weird lighting bug. Pyrowolf, does the glow effect show up for you at all?
(edited by tetrodoxin.2134)
Yup, same here. Waiting for a fix, since the glow colour was the reason I bought the makeover kit xD
Also waiting for this. C’mon anet, give us re-customization! xO
