As much as I dislike Asura, Zojja would win. She is an Elementalist. In lore, Elementalists would wreck almost every opponent, of course not in-game because of balance and game mechanics. The only other magic user in Destiny’s Edge is Logan, and he still wouldn’t stand a chance against an Elementalist. An Elementalist vs a non-magic user is like a super hero vs a normal person.

Ranger should be Masters of the bow AND should not have the same activation times and Arrow speed times as everyone else.

That much should be understood, however thats not how Anet see’s it. Seeing how A warrior with a GS will out-damage any ranger with a GS its not really fair no?

Alot of my early greats involve alot of early planning then leading your quarry into traps, after there downed lit there bodies up with bonfire……to just watch em burn…….

BTW, You can always tell whos been hit by a Bird or not in the past, either way its a laugh.

All true, but in reality in hot join spvp i prefer troll unguent. Hot join as it is now is a zergfest so mobility is a must, also in hot join half of the ppl don’t even know how the skill works or what a combo field is, so it will hardly help others.

In my Exp, Warrior and Ranger Combos go well, snares and poisons work well together – If anything, when these two classes rampage together many, many, many things die, so long as both of you know your limits. (and play your classes well).

Thief meh, Its more of a solo class, they can be great help. Never had much teamage with one.

Guardians can benifit from your snares- And you can be supported by there virtues.
Not a bad combo.

Ele’s I have not had much teamage with …so cant say much.

All in all pick w/e you guys feels comfortable with >;)

Id like to see it return to its original form, Block All attacks and projectiles – The Gw1 form – Not this cheap knockoff.

I did play the Ranger before the patch. I started playing it quite a bit after the Shortbow rate-of-fire tweaks, and the class was solid then, including in high-level tPvP, although there were other classes that did whatever the Ranger could do, but slightly better. That’s sort of beside the point though, particularly the point I was making.

The class has gotten better with each subsequent patch. My only comment is that the latest changes, which definitely continued to improve the class, made it better without making it any harder to play, and the class has always been incredibly easy to play. That is a disturbing development trend. Care to elaborate on your “L2P” comment — which frankly made no sense in context?

Edit: I read your post history, and I see that you’re one of these typical MMO posters who defends your class, no matter how fact-based or rational the criticims leveled at it are. Seriously doubt that you will be able to provide any intelligent comments regarding the one-dimensionality of the Ranger class and low skill cap, but maybe you will surprise us.

Its the VERY VERY few people(Like you) who say they had no issues with Ranger and go on about how easy it is to drop things yet never Post a video showing it, they go on about how they have no issues and that there an unstoppable force of Melandru!

Curb stomping everything left and right (Thieves Included). Bows do decent damage AND are always on point- Never Obstructed, Pets always keeping up with foes AND activating skills in and timely fashion – Sword does not root you in place. Traits form a nice Synergy right?

I remember being called a “Free” walking badge of honor/Getting curb stomped in PvP VERY Easy.

Pve ranger is Ok. PvP And WvW is something left to be desired but you dont have any issue’s No, not you. Everyone else is sick in the head, However.

I cant really say much due to the patch and Anet Actually doing something to make the ranger decent.

Since we are going into my past post, My main gripe was with Soth and its update, I thought it was a Useless skill. I opted for something more useful than it, thats all.

I am no Champion(others in the ranger forum got that title already), I mearly point out whats wrong.
And in no way am I inciting a flame war, Im just telling you how it is. If you choose to make this any bigger then it has to be then that’s on you, I however will take no part in it.

All I know now is that the patch has helped, Rangers pose more of a threat now. Ive Accepted that people are going to QQ since there easy streak isnt going to be easy anymore.

Tracking andn Alpha Strike probably weren’t implemented since they involve unique mechanics that may have been too time consuming/complex to implement at release.

Dust trap was probably just left out since we had enough traps and slot skills already, although I would have loved to have this instead of Frost Trap.

Yeah Ive wondered about dust trap, Id gladly swap it for frost trap.

Tracking and Alpha should be implemented no matter how long it takes – It’ll shake things up a bit though, Im more than willing to wait for it…er both.

The issue with Rangers, as with many classes in this game, is that the changes really impacted and improved non-skill-based play. Doesn’t take much work to use Shortbow 1, and the additional damage from pet chomps also doesn’t exactly require much user input (i.e. NONE). It’s just another example of a class designed to have a very low necessary skill threshold, with relatively high effectiveness, one of the fundamental problems with this game overall.

That said, the DPS pets die super quickly if focused, putting the pet swap on a very long cooldown. (Even if they swap the first low health pet, you can burn the second.) Also, the Ranger obviously is susceptible to the various projectile defenses.

Unfortunately, I have been maining on a D/D Ele lately, which is naturally very weak against ranged classes (not a lot of ranged defense on dagger offhand — focus is designed for that) and since you are constantly fighting in melee range, a trap ranger with lots of slows and chills and a high damage pet are just a nightmare to deal with it. (And you can’t swap weapons mid-game anymore!) In my wild universe, I think that the skill cap on the Elementalist should form the skill cap floor for any class in GW2, but I understand that the game largely caters to less skilled players, and so it goes. That’s life I suppose.

But I talked with a ranger last night with a build that let them dodge 6 times in a row. Was quite insane. Tried a duel with their ele, we were both even and couldn’t damage each other much. They switched to Ranger, I had the same success with them (barely dented their HP) but they had me at 30-60% most of the time. If we kept going I would have lost for sure. Definitely more tank than the pretty universally-agreed-upon OP ele tank builds.

I call fowl, Nothing is more tanky/cheap then a DD ele build.

Not sure why dust trap didn’t make it? it was in GW1 Core it should have been a gimme. I like the tracking Elite. Would be really useful to the PVPers not so much in PVE but I hear a lot of complaints about stealth this could be a nice counter balance.

This build works with lvl 80 exotic gear on. Anything less and you won’t hit hard enough.
Weapons: Bow is for the damage. You have great burst at max range to start with 15% vulnerability. Once they close blast them with rapid fire + pet swap.
Sword is when you get melee on you and you are taking too much damage (AKA you can’t evade around them and keep using the bow.) You have 3 evade abilities and a snare. Also any quickness with the sword #1 (I don’t use autoattack because its imperitive to dodge when you need to) will dominate a caster.
Pets: Wolf is godly for cc. Melee on you? press f2 and evade near the pet, wooo aoe fear. Hound is just as good, but roots instead. They have decent toughness so they won’t die to a gust of wind as long as you are not fighting zerg vs zerg. Use the pet CC and you will be so much better as a player. Don’t be afraid to swap these guys either. The quickness is awesome and so is when the pet comes out and pounces right on somebody. Stuns are rare, you have 2. Awesome. Don’t complain about their speed, with Signet of the hunt and hunters shot, they’ll get to the players unless its a thief full speed running away. In which case your 3k bow shots will finish him off.
Skills: QZ is amazing. Don’t be afraid to blow it for a finisher. Dead opponent is always better than an alive one. Short cooldown = USE IT.
Signet of the hunt: What can i say, its amazing now. So easy to catch up to people, easier to get away, and easier to get around map.
Protect Me: Who cares if your pets alive if you are dead? Sometimes you get rooted and you have people beating on you. Sometimes you need to finish a guy off but he’s kittenstorm of damage. Sometimes a thief is about to pop on you and you don’t want to take any damage. Swap the pet once he’s low. Really though, it kills the pet but you don’t die. Alive you > alive pet, EVERY TIME.
RaO: Stability, swiftness, fury. For a long time. Yes please, a lot of roaming fights are decided before RaO wears off. Fury gives me 55% crit chance. Crits are an extra 2k on my long range shots.
Traits: Marks for the plus to power. Range on longbow is nice, fury and might when the pet gets to 50% is also nice. Opening strike is awesome in roaming fights and keep defense for blasting one guy down super quick with a partner.
Skirmish is for the crit. Flanking is great for when they run away and your hitting them for stupid amounts of damage. Pets critting harder helps make the pet worth more than just CC. I see my dogs critting for 1.5-2k regularly. Vigor always helps rangers. Evading is good, remember that. Learning how and when to evade is the single greatest thing you can learn in GW2. I’m not kidding.
Wilderness: This boosts your survival. End regen, protection when you roll are self explanatory, see above comments on evading. The traits are for defense. Stealth is marginally useful. When coupled with shared anguish it becomes great. Also great for finishing since that first CC is ignored so you can finish stomping.
Sigils/Runes are too your taste. I run Knights gear, Valk jewelry, and a couple zerkers added in. I was a little bit short on health and wanted a higher crit damage, so I went Wurm. Chilling on weapons is always good especially as a bow ranger. Plus people run away all the time in WvWvW, chilling them ends that quickly.

Is it too Op or what? For what reason should Anet have to not implement this skill?

The recharge on it makes it something to not be used with reckless abandon, but it should be shortened to a point where it would be useful for WvW/PvP.

Not only that, it would need to be tweaked to a point where multiple stealths are a fail against it – Or stealth is just fail for a short amount of time.

Doubt Anet will bring back Dervish, They’ll have to get creative but you can bet they’ll be another Melee class – I suspect spears will have more use – Morden Cresent n such.

Theres not many viable Mage classes out there, Anet will have to do it good to make it not look like a over-used/ Typical mage class.

Learn? There’s nothing to learn. I’ve played all the classes already and they’re all very simple in this game.

If you mean “grind to 80”, well this isn’t a sub based game, so there’s that off.

That’s wrong, all classes excel in something, why shouldn’t rangers (scouts and medium-armored) and thieves excel in movement speed, while say, necros excel in condition damage?

Every class doesn’t fit into some perfect specialized niche, nor should they. There’s a lot of overlap in abilities and style.

Like the Syvari with summon druid spirit….and norn kinda :P

This has been suggested before, Survivalist will use anything to there advantage to survive bow or not.

Gw based on its lore “rangers” were more Druid like, casting nature spells and such, since gw2 has altered that path.

If they did have “warden” class im sure there leftover animations and other resources that can be used, sadly most of the time things like those are either recycled into New classes or destroyed.
