Things like the Magecrusher and Champ Abom SHOULD drop silver since they have about 4x too much hp and pose 0 threat to anyone who knows what they’re doing.

Although, I don’t take kindly to saying that Malrona should only be ranged. She only has two attacks, one of which fires directly in front of her and the other can be easily dodged through with proper timing. I, and many others in groups I’ve played with, melee her without a problem.

You do want to get hit by her frontal attack as it gives you dmg x5 and the other one can be reflected for great dmg. Combine the two and keep dps-ing instead of dodging and you’ll gib her.

I think that would imply to raise the limit of 5 targets (or maybe 6) on AoE stuff (boons, …) which would cause conflicts with WvW.

Like it or not, it’s not similar to auto-attacks of other games in any way or form, what did you want? For skill1 to also have a cooldown and at some time have no skills to use? Or.. add a useless auto attack like in Guild Wars 1?

I don’t know which profession you play but at the end of the day skill1 is just matter of doing dmg rather than doing something special / something opportunist.

I really dislike the animations on my male Norn as Guardian so I’ve come to change its gender.

Human / Sylvari use the same animations I believe and female are very simplistic whereas male are more into the fancy thing. The reason why my characters are all female… Would be great to be able to choose between different styles on creation.

I had this a long time ago : if I started to jump while inside of the red circle and the AoE exploded while I was mid-air and (clearly) outside, I would still get hit.

Dunno if it’s similar or not but maybe those stairs are not so innoncent.

Depends on the build obviously. I’m not going to run a Hammer Warrior in WvW wearing Beserker Gear. And GL with high lvl Fractals or Arah EXP in beserker Gear lol.

This actually is the way to success but you just have not realized/experienced it yet.

Blurred Frenzy invul actually lasts a bit longer than the buff it comes with – as long as you don’t press any button or auto-walk / auto-attack. I always negate 3times his life suck move (when he lifts in the air) and both of these attacks seem to have the same pace.

I should give a proper try to this and let you informed of any useful information.
Just as I saw a Guardian completely negate his AoE’s for phase 2 just using Zealot’s Defence to the point where there was no red circle on the ground.

If you stop doing anything while in blurred frenzy I’m sure it can negate 3 ticks of damage just as when lupi lifts in the air.

Yeah getting the extra precision as soon as possible is OP.
Later on you want to play For Great Justice, anything else is up to you but the trusty Shake it off is versatile and will help you countless times.

FGJ / Shake it off / Banner x1 / Signet of Rage is my dungeon set-up. For open world you don’t really need something else that your skill 1.

Warriors are plenty mobile as is. What’s lacking is the ability to deal with movement impairing conditions like cripple and chill, especially with how spammable those tend to be.

Really is a kitten take when a cripple/chill completely gimps the distance you’d otherwise gain on any of our mobility skills.

Lol man play PvP with your warrior and get everything you can get against them. I assure you will lack ways to counter it. Removing something that is continuously applied is not effective unless you gain Immunity to it.

Give us a reason to use adrenaline and gain adrenaline stacks. There is nothing that gives us anything when we get stacks of adrenaline, but there are traits that give us more stacks? Why? Have us deal additional damage or heal every time we get a stack of adrenaline and give us a reason to use burst.

Because burst skills give 50% endurance.

Try this

Warrior : Dodge backward + Whirlwind forward.
Guardian : Dodge backward + Shelter/Focus#5/Renewed Focus while moving forward.
Mesmer : Blurred Frenzy.

I rarely got hit by his aoes.

What you are seeing is only for cof p1 farm speed runs. Full zerk warriors suck for anything else.

I think that you can’t blame ppl for following the path of least resistance. I’m confident when I tell you that you can accomplish any dungeon path with various compositions.

If the game was all about CoF path 1, you would be right to be angry not to find a PuG with your Ele/Thief.
I run Arah on a daily basis (90% of my dungeons are Arah) and one of my friend has a level 80 Thief he plays from times to times. I can tell you that his battle presence is sensible and he greatly contributes to the team : how many times has a single Risen Illusionist downed a full party with its Chaos Storm? BlackPowder, bam. It’s like having an AoE 5 seconds stun with no cooldown… I don’t understand why all thieves go d/d in dungeons instead of sword/pistol or dagger/pistol. But well … the list goes on.

The thing is : find ppl to play with, find mates, don’t restrict to a single profession or two, play the game more than your profession.

EDIT : I just had a 25 min Arah path 2 with both Ele and Thief in the party, nothing wrong with it.

And I’m sorry to say the “undisclosed” reason people asking for harder content is mostly for bragging right, which in itself an indication of a lack of self confidence (and lack of self esteem)
The content is already hard. Trying naked. QED.

Content are not meant to be played naked. Difficulty is not found in simply more damage from mobs / less armor for you, the fight remains the same except that you can tank less (a lot less) but GW2 is currently designed so you can’t really dodge 100% of damage (which is in my opinion a good thing).
No matter of cool it is, I don’t want to play naked.

I always compare it to Alien Swarm (Valve) because it is definitely a game worth the time you spend on it and with real challenge : a good gaming experience. There is a game mode by the name of “Onslaught” in which Aliens spawn randomly and that forces you to take decisions and to react instinctively to what happens : you could not get to the end of the stage because you knew it by heart (basically what you do in campaign mode and what I currently do in GW2).
Also there were 4classes with uniqueness and non-replacable specificities which is not really what you can find in GW2 : sure, skills are different from a profession to another but at the end of the day a lot of them are “replacable” because it’s all a matter of boon/condition which are common. The only unique mechanics I can think of are Illusions and Time Warp (because it is infinitely better than any other Quickness skill) and maybe Shadowstep which serves almost no purpose in dungeons.

About Alphard you can use this angular pillar to negate most of his dmg. there is also a leash point that you can use when he teleports to the middle of the arena.

Phase 2 he often targets ranged units, giving priority to his shadowwalk movement. It includes NPCs sigh.

Phase 3 seems that when you’re downed you’re marked for Necrid Trap and Life Drain.

Boons / Conditions, how they works, broken.

Warriors have traits about cripple/chilled/immobilize but there is no point in dispelling something that will be back 0.5 sec later. Just need immunity to movement alteration thru some traits/skills.

The +10% bonus ms while using melee weapons is ridiculous, buff it for 20%.

Too damage focused.

My personal complaints about AC are specific to the Ghost Eater. I dislike that fight because it doesn’t use combat mechanics for the most part, it is a communication and synchronisation challenge, not a co-operative combat experience.

I guess one cannot satisfy everyone. Some want more intensive combats such as old CoF p2 while some want more mechanics oriented combats with different phases (invulnerable/vulnerable) such as Zelda’s style where most of bosses are interesting fights because of that.

But I got to disagree with something you’ve said : Ghost Eater is not a DPS race. After all, setting the traps are the core of the encounter and it is not tedious . You can also use a wide variety of skills to help that (scorpion wires, necrotic grasps and many others).

Once your DPS reaches a certain level of efficiency most of the co-operative party combat becomes far less efficient than simply bursting him (or any other boss) down with glass cannons. Entire mechanics which should be most useful in group content (crowd control) become useless.

Ok with that, high DPS turn most of encounters into simple punching bags. Also it should be noted that Bjarl (CoE p1) needs DPS and CC to be well executed because of the lack of defiance and it’s actually a cool fight to do. Else I don’t see the point in CC-ing bosses. Why would you use 5times a skill that costs you 2secs to cast in order to interrupt an action he will do 4 seconds later?

This boss just needs a rework. Most dungeons you can get away with multiple build styles, but this one you need a very high DPS team build, and even then it’s rather frustrating to play. Timecookie, I’d love to know your trick to beating her. I’ve tried with Guildies and PUGs alike, only to fail.

No trick, everything has been done regularly.
1/ We put Simin against the wall close to statue.
2/ Set a Guardian to the 2 deeper Sparks and the Mesmer to the 3 Sparks at the entry of the cave.
3/ DPS, run sparks, DPS, run sparks, DPS…
It must come from builds and everyone picking the right skills. Go for Banners, Signet of Inspiration, Vulnerabilities and don’t forget stability.

I’ve shown this before, but statistically speaking, the chance of getting a specific fractal in any given run is:

(1/8) + (7/8 * 1/7) + (7/8 * 6/7 * 1/6) = 0.375 = 37.5%

So, in essence, the chance of seeing any given fractal of the 8 available (not including the jade ocean, which is the 9th) is over 1 in 3. That should hopefully show you that what you are seeing “I always seem to get this one fractal!” is actually not that unlikely.

You could just have said that 3 fractals out of 8 make 37.5%.

But given that most players choose a specific first fractal it’s more like 2 out of 7.

I always have Sword/Focus on my Mesmer, Sword being the only melee/cleave attack you have. Zerker and still a bit of Knight. I don’t play iPersona in dungeons because I really want the enhanced Focus.

Just that most of my contribution to the team is not damage as phantasms do 0 damage but Signet of Inspiration / Time Warp (Dazzling will only apply vulnerabilities for fractions of sec.). I feel a lot more useful with my Warrior or my Guardian at this fight.

Open world : 20/20/0/0/30 with the extra bounce on Mirror Blade.
You can pretty much instagib any mob using Mirror Blade + Mind Wrack granted you picked Illusionary Persona.

GS/Axe for PvE (dungeon) as it’s the best direct damage you can get. Offhand may vary (Mace, Shield, Warhorn) but most of the time it will be mace.
Sometimes replacing either GS or Axe/Offhand for a Longbow ; almost never use Rifle.

Sword/Shield/GS for PvP.

The “reason” given for this is so that you can’t place it on the ground and continually run through it to stack swiftness. Funny because the Guardian Staff #3 adjusts if you already have swiftness on. It’s really just lazy programming, hopefully they change it.

Symbol of Swiftness will grant 8sec of Swiftness if you don’t already have it, else it only grants 1 additional sec.

Yesterday or the day before I did path 4 with a semi-pug and though we easily killed Simin, she was stealthing few secs after revealing. She was far under 50% at the time (something like revealed at 25% and stealth at 10%).

I’ve been a while since I last could not pass Simin but I have never understood exactly what she is about… Sometimes she stealths sometimes no, sometimes sparks leash, sometimes they choose a farther target than you. This fight is very odd to me.

It’s not hard, it’s just unfamiliar and takes a bit longer to do than path 1 or 2. Not to mention the last boss goes invulnerable something like every 10 seconds so doing damage to him is a very slow process.

Yeah I’d like to have a reason for this invul time, it’s terribly annoying and unnecessary.

On the other hand it should not have a horribly fast charge unless you have people who fail at dodging the very slow frenzy building attack or you have a party member trying to grief people by purposely getting hit.

That the price rising is inevitable given ANet’s non-intervention is not a point of contest between us; I agree with you that given the state of things, prices will just continue to balloon. My point is that such an inevitable rise is a problem that ANet should intervene and address. CoF 1 is its own issue, but I think that the changes to Orr too severely reduced the sustained supply of Crystalline Dust without ANet giving due consideration to how much it is used compared to other T6 materials. My argument is that the way things are now is unhealthy for the game, and that supply should be increased to compensate.

Overall there is no point in farming the mat you need, whatever the mat is : you have to rely on the player base to provide it. They want players to create a gigantic TP where everything is at everyone’s reach so that players who “play the way they want to play” can afford anything. I really miss MMO’s where you need to create the mats you need :P

Currently my PvE time is about doing dungeons/fotm and from time to time check how much gold I have accumulated on all my characters over the course of the last few days to choose something to buy at the TP. I don’t think I am the only one doing this and it’s something that saddens me a bit.

I was told about the balance of the open-world but really where is the point in looting T1 to T4 materials? And yeah T5 main purpose is to be thrown in the Mystic Forge to obtain T6, that’s just silly. Will we be stuck in Orr forever?
