just checking in… still happening for my wife even after tonights patch… please fix!
she is furious… the disconnects have been bad since the HoT launch but now its just unplayable.. she logs in.. moves a few steps.. dies.. disconnected.
oh and btw.. she is on windows vista home edition, so this is not just a mac issue.. its a client/game issue.
seems a ton of people are getting it that havent been able to post as well.. the game population has really dropped today.
any devs want to comment on this pls?
can we get confirmation that someone knows this is happening?
might be..
there is also a graphics error when you zone into any WVW fort in eternal battlegrounds.. there appears to be smoke and a treb/cata shot fired right on the waypoint as you zone in.. then it clears and is fine.
yes you do… i even generate it with my wolf healing howl. Healing spring def does.. The thing you have to remember is that you generate it ONLY when healing someone. If you are trying to test this on a target dummy.. it wont work at all.
and yes.. you will build astral faster with staff basically because the skills heal to some degree
Considering how actively they are avoiding to answer this on their own forum, it might be safe to say they are not working on a fix. They’ve had this problem since GW2 launch and it helped them to stick their hand in sand. They appear to be doing the same this time. Hoping those that have this problem (not majority by the looks of things) to fix it themselves or quit.
The tables have turned now though. It isnt just a select few.. it seems to be about 50-60% of the server pop. People i have played with for years are now talking of quitting if they cant get this fixed soon.. why try and play something thats broken and wont let you progress.
Also… as for them not posting on their own forums.. i know right… why would they reply to my post on reddit and not here FIRST… BUT… since the reply was posted.. it has been linked here several time and at least people are aware of it now, no matter where their posting preference lays.
yes this is what i fear, they are going to just forget about this and move on.
The thing about that though, is that they cant.. It isnt just old hardware.. its new too..
The client has a problem and they HAVE to work on it soon or people are going to start leaving in droves.
As it stands right now, my wifes crashes are getting worse.. up to 2-3 mins vs the 5-10 she was getting a few days ago.
When i log in.. half my guild is no longer playing because when they log in.. they crash.. and many have told me that they dont even feel like loading the game up until its fixed because it is so frustrating.
PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.
Btw.. was thinking last night that it could somehow be caused by the Halloween event.. since that code basically hasnt been changed in 3 years… But.. if it is.. does this mean we will get these crashes every time they do an event for holidays? Christmas, new years etc..
local.dat doesnt help
this is a client issue and needs to be resolved.. it should be TOP PRIORITY since you have SOOOOO many people that cant play.
PLEASE FIX ASAP
heh i see what you did there
turning the graphics down just gives it less to calculate that is why it takes a little longer to crash.
HOWEVER.. my wife has started crashing every 2-3 minutes now.. rather than 5-10 so the crash seems to be getting worse. The game is completely unplayable now for her.
because even the devs dont post on the guild wars site.. that would be just silly.. reddit is where its at
keep posting those anet logs guys.. give them data so they can fix this soon!
you were prob lagging.. and there are also several graphics glitches. I died several times last night in wvw to unseen players because of lag. It is really bad on reset night as well, which is now sat night for some reason.
THEY WONT EVEN ADMIT THERE IS A OOM CRASH PROBLEM… people should start asking for their memory back.. maybe then they would do something
oom errors are kittening my wife off.. hasnt been able to play more than 5-10 mins at a time.
The only reason you arent getting the crashes as often is you prob have more memory than she does and it just takes a bit longer to fill up all the registers.
what crashes.. you know anet thinks there isnt any right..?
My wife hasnt been able to play more than 5-10 mins at a time since launch and she filed a ticket and got the generic response you have prob seen posted all over these forums.
1. its a windows 32 bit problem.. upgrade to 64 and you will be fine.
first off.. the game is only 32 bit.. and there are TONS of people posting they are running with 64 and getting the same crash.
second, they referred her to a 2 year old post and told her to REMOVE RAM FROM HER SYSTEM because she was running windows 32.. Umm.. shes only got 3g and has been running the game perfect since beta..
third, shes running an nvidia graphics card… AMD cards are crashing also.. but slightly less frequently… while on the other hand, my Intel HD UMA laptop is running it fine.. no crashes at all.
IT IS AN OOM error… triggered by Nvidia and AMD cards.. please fix or start handing people their money back for the expansion that cannot play and the core game they can no longer play!
they wont even admit there is a problem… thats the sad thing
my wife hasnt been able to do any events at all since launch of HoT with her big desktop and nvidia graphics card
meanwhile.. i can run it on my little laptop with intel hd video fine
Its a memory leak in the game triggered by nvidia graphics cards, and a few AMD ones..
its not a windows 32 bit problem
its not a windows 64 bit problem
its not a ram problem
its not a pc problem
its the kitten client… OOM errors everywhere
THEY WONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM…
She filed a support ticket and got a reply telling her that
it was because she was on 32 bit windows ( the game is only 32 bit) and that she needed to upgrade to windows 64 and that would solve all her problems. That is BS because i see tons of people with HUGE pcs running 64 that are crashing as well
They also referred her to a 2 year old post on windows 32 problems but why??? shes ran the game fine since beta.. and only started crashing since hot release. The specs for the game DID NOT CHANGE!
and they also told her to remove some ram from her PC.. wtf.!? shes only running 3 gig of memory.. why should she remove some?
PLEASE FIX THE kitten LEAK
(edited by trueanimus.4085)
btw, nvidia seems to get the oom crash far more than ati cards, while i on my intel HD shared UMA havent crashed once with OOM error, only a few bouncy chests crashes because of the UI changes,
post the entire log… the first line will prob read something about OOM error
out of memory crash because the game has a major memory leak atm.
they refuse to even admit that its happening yet almost no one can stay on longer than 5-10 minutes or maybe 30 mins to an hour if you have more than 8g ram and 4g video ram
OOM error.. check your anet log.
This is common atm although they refuse to even admit there is a problem
intel HD… honestly at this point..
Right now the game has a HUGE memory leak that is effecting both nvidia and ATI cards making the game unplayable.
However.. i am running intel HD with UMA shared memory (card only has 32m memory, rest is system shared ram) and i havent crashed once with OOM errors.
They really need to fix the OOM errors.. my wife and my guildies cant stay logged in for more than 5-10 minutes… and TONS of people are crashing in wvw and pvp.. the game is almost unplayable.
Good luck to anyone with the crashing issues

According to our report, you have upwards of 6GB of RAM but due to how 32-bit operating system work, you can only use 4GB total. The problem arises through the additional video memory on your graphics card:
Funny thing.. they told my wife the same.. she only has 3 gig system memory and 1g video…
SHOULD RUN FINE.. but… they are saying that its windows not reading the memory since its only32bit system..
Funny how every other game she plays runs just fine.. and this one crashes with OOM errors.. huh..
Good luck to anyone with the crashing issues

yeah this is basically them tellin you to kitten off. My wife got almost the same reply that referred her to a 2 year old post, told her to remove ram from her pc, upgrade from windows 32 to windows 64 (even though the client is 32 bit only) and even told her please do not reply to us about this matter again.
They need to stop blaming other software, and memory in the systems..
If the game was running perfect one day…
then there is a patch
then the game doesnt work…
your gonna look a the patch and say.. humm.. maybe we did something wrong..
BUT NO>> so far..
Anet has blamed everything else and everyone else.. and even told people to remove ram from their PCs.. when it is clearly a memory leak in the client.
Nvidia cards seem to be afflicted the worst, with radion getting it also.
They havent even admitted that there is a problem, and refuse to recognize this as a real bug in the game, placing blame on third party apps etc.
ANET… PLEASE STOP COPY PASTING REPLIES TO THIS THAT ARE OVER 2 YEARS OLD ON THE POSTS>>> AND DEAL WITH THE ISSUE OF A BORKED CLIENT..
PEOPLE CANT PLAY… THE GAME HAS A MEMORY LEAK
FIX IT>>
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD>> PLEASE FIX IT
the game has a HUGE memory leak atm… hence the OOM error. Out of Memory error.
This applys to both nvidia and radion video cards… (mostly nvidia though it seems) and will crash your game every 5-10 minutes depending on how much memory you have on your pc and on your gpu.
AT THE MOMENT, the devs have refused to even ACKNOWLEDGE that this is a real bug, telling people to update from windows 32 to windows 64 (even though the client is only 32 bit)… telling people to REMOVE memory from their pc or even that they just needed to upgrade their pc (even if they have been playing the game fine for years up until the HoT update).
My wife got a semi hateful reply that told her this.. and also referred her to a post from 2 years ago telling her to remove ram from her pc… how the hell that is supposed to help.. i dunno
ANYWAY… please bump these posts and MAYBE we will get a reply on them as to when it is being fixed.. or if they are at least going to see it as a real bug and not our problem.
stuck at 12 fps myself, however im glad i can at least play.. my wife cant even stay on the game more than 10 minutes without crashing with the infamous OOM error.. sometimes crashing the entire pc..
PLEASE FIX THE kitten CLIENT
can we please get a dev to reply to something about the crashes..
at least let us know its being worked on??
PLEASE
This is SO frustrating … i can play fine on my laptop, yet my wife with an nvidia card and twice my specs cant play more than 5-10 minutes without crashing..
PLEASE FIX THE GAME …
my wife is now running the client in windowed mode, which seems to help (dunno why) but she is still crashing every 10-20 minutes rather than every 5-10…
BUT THE POINT IS>>> the game is still borked… and crashing all the time..
PLEASE FIX
according to them, this has been the smoothest launch in gw history …
People crashing every 2 -10 minutes is just… not acceptable..
PLEASE FIX THE kitten CLIENT
oh and yes.. you KNOW anet is reading this because a mod merged one of my previous posts to this one..
CAN WE PLEASE GET AN ANSWER or at least someone on the dev team to ACKNOWLEDGE that this is a problem and they ARE WORKING ON IT????
PLEASE????
it amazes me that anet hasnt said something on this issue other than, it isnt our game its your pc’s….. But yet… It started happening to almost everyone i know in game.. all at the same time.. all from the same patch.
People can play different legnths of time based on how much memory they have til they crash with the OOM error.. but EVERYONE IS GETTING IT… not just the people posting here.
People are crashing left and right.. in wvw raids all you hear is “Crap.. game crashed… in que” etc every few minutes.
In normal play, people are crashing… (even had a few guildies crash to thier bios screen.. dont even know how thats possible for a game.. but it happened) and having to reboot, not just close.
almost all if not ALL of the crashes are OOM errors… which indicates a bad memory leak in the video coding…. and most of the people crashing are running either Nvidia or Radion and they are BOTH getting OOM errors.
PLEASE FIX
just bumping this again because i figure they arent even looking into it.
After a freaking week, people still cant do any of the quests or events in the new expansion and now people in my guild are getting crashes like crazy in wvw/spvp as well.
The game for some, is in a totally unplayable state. Being able to log in for 5 mins then crashing, makes it unplayable because almost ALL the events in the game last longer than 5 mins.
PLEASE FIX THIS
yes… still waiting for a freaking fix for this.. wife is steaming because she cant play more than 5 mins at a time.. got to wonder also if its hurting the pc with all those oom crashes.
if you have an nvidia video card, expect to crash every few minutes with the OOM memory leak. It is happening on both windows 32 and windows 64 versions.
Hope they fix this soon!… driving my wife crazy
nvidia cards seem to trigger the oom errors.. they need to fix this or start refunding peoples money
can we please get a statement from the dev team that they ARE working on this.. or should we all just start demanding our money back and take our gaming elsewhere?
I want to play (or rather i want my wife to be able to play) but as it is, the game is unplayable and defective.
PLEASE FIX or at least let us know your working on the issue.
are you running an nvidia graphics card? if so.. thats your problem. the game has a memory leak now that is affecting nvidia cards… no fix in sight
there is a memory leak in the game.. a bad one.. just be happy you are able to play.. most people crash with OOM error.. until that is fixed.. your FPS is gonna be really low
same OOM that everyone else is getting… lowering graphics settings may buy you a few minutes.. but you are still going to crash..
Seems to be a nvidia conflict.. through the research i have done. almost ALL of the oom errors i have seen… people have nvidia graphics cards… so right there is the first step.. they should be looking into it.. but no word yet
My wife got a reply finally from the support team… that is just.. well..
They referred her to a 2 year old post… told her to remove ram from her system, and to upgrade from 32 to 64 bit OS and to set prerendered frames to 1… nothing helped..
IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAME.. not the video card.. she was playing PERFECT before the HoT update last week and now she cant stay on more than 5-10 mins at a time.
KEEP THESE POSTS BUMPED til its fixed!
here is the reply she recieved….
Hello —-—-,
Thanks for getting back to us.
The issue you are having is known as an Out Of Memory Error. While we do have some suggestions for helping players work around this issue, ultimately we need you to understand that this is a limitation of 32-bit Operating Systems and not actually of Guild Wars 2 itself. The main issue here is simply memory limitations inherent in 32-bit Operating Systems.
The problem comes in the form of the additional video memory your graphics card has:
— Display Memory: 2257 MB
— Dedicated Memory: 978 MB
— Shared Memory: 1279 MB
This is where it gets a little complicated, but the short version is that the additional memory can push your total available memory into negative numbers resulting in crashes or simply, “out of memory errors.” Some players have resolved this by upgrading to a 64-bit operating system. Others simply have removed physical RAM from the system to bring the memory totals closer to values intended for that revision of Windows (32-bit). Obviously removing RAM from your PC is not an ideal solution but I wanted to give you all the information we have learned regarding these issues. You can read more about this issue from Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605. The important part is listed below:
“For example, if you have a video card that has 256 MB of onboard memory, that memory must be mapped within the first 4 GB of address space. If 4 GB of system memory is already installed, part of that address space must be reserved by the graphics memory mapping. Graphics memory mapping overwrites a part of the system memory. These conditions reduce the total amount of system memory that is available to the operating system.”
One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:
Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
Select "Manage 3D Settings.”
Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”
Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.

dont bother filing a ticket.. here was my wife’s reply basically from a support rep.
This isnt our problem.. its your problem..
your running 32 bit windows.. upgrade to windows 64 and it will fix all your problems..
also .. remove some ram from your system… (couldn’t believe this one)
then he referred her to a 2 year old post ( btw.. the game was running perfect last week before the HoT release) which said for her to go to nvidia control panel and set prerendered frames to 1 (didnt help)
then they basically said dont contact us again with this issue..
THEY NEED TO FIX THIS OOM error… God she is mad…. hasnt been able to do anything since HoT released.. and its been almost a week!!!!
Here is the reply they sent her

My wife is still getting this OOM leak also.
She is running an nvidia graphics cards also so yes… it seems to be an nvidia conflict with the game… THE GAMES FAULT DUE TO BAD CODING>>> not the video cards themselves.
she contacted support and here is what they told her…
first the referred her to a 2 YEAR OLD POST that tells you to set pre rendered frames to 1.. didnt help.
second was they said that she should REMOVE RAM from her PC… wtf… seriously?
third, they said that because she was running 32 bit windows, she should upgrade her pc and run windows 64 bit and that would solve everything… I call BULL ____ because i have seen tons of post with people running 64 bit that have the same issue. Besides, there is no way for us to upgrade atm due to financial issues.
BUT anywho….
here is where we stand…
she hasnt been able to play more than 5 mins at a time since launch.
she was able to play fine before the HoT patch.
there is a problem with the game client.. not her pc…
shes really mad and is now wanting me to file tickets to get her a refund for the expansion and the core game which she can no longer play..
i am begging her please give them more time for a fix.. but even i am losing faith… it has been almost a week and this is a MAJOR issue and should have been fixed by now.
been reading a lot of posts and this seems to be a memory leak confined to nvidia graphics cards.
The client has a bad memory leak and it is affecting people using nvidia, and the support team refuses to admit it… they even went so far as to tell my wife to REMOVE ram from her pc and that, that would solve her problem.
she is on a 32 bit client and has been for 3 years and has NEVER had a problem running this game until the HoT update, now she crashes every 5-10 minutes or less.
PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP
been reading the forums and it seems that most (if not all) of the people getting these crashes are running nvidia video cards.
They really need to fix this… it is not just a 32 bit or 64 bit os problem.. it is a memory leak in the client and seems to be triggering if you run an nvidia card.
FIX THIS PLEASE… asap
yes… this needs to be fixed.. keep these posts bumped so they remain active… hopefully we will get a fix soon.
bump keep this active.. there needs to be a fix
i am getting sick of the GW2 support team dancing around this issue.
Above is my wifes reply that she got from the support team, basically telling her not reply to anything else via email and that it is her problem and not the game itself.
They even suggested that she REMOVE ram from her pc, which doesnt make ANY sense.
She is running the 32 bit client and has been for 3 years since the game came out. She has NEVER had any problems like this before.
All the support team did was look at the first line of the crash report and see an OOM error (which seems to be very common atm) and tell her its a windows 32 bit problem and sent a generic reply, with suggestions that are 3 years old. Dropping the pre rendered frames to 1 isnt a solution… it helps because the leak doesnt fill up memory as fast, but it isnt a fix.
btw.. she has plenty of video ram for this game (1 gig vs the 512 recommended)
It has been almost a week since HoT launched and she cant stay on long enough to do anything, even old content like vine wrath or even craft.. can we please get a real fix for this memory leak or at least someone on the support team to admit there is a problem and that it is being worked on.
Btw… I do wvw on my laptop with intel UMA and 32m of video ram.. yes.. 32 MEGS of RAM and i have NO problem with the game other than i have to run in low settings, so this MAY be a problem with Nvidia cards.
The GAME is the problem… the game itself has a memory leak.. PLEASE FIX IT.. or start handing out refunds for the expansion and the core game which people can no longer play.
(edited by trueanimus.4085)
wife is still crashing while my laptop remains unaffected… im starting to wonder if this is due to the fact that she has an nvidia card and my graphics are intel UMA.
another bump… lets keep this at the top so they will maybe do something to fix it!
The client has a bad memory leak atm… You may want to wait a few days as someone in my guild actually had the game keep crashing them to their bios screen today.. Not once, several times. If the pc plays other games well and only restarts on this game… It’s the game.. Not the pc.
Really… That’s the best you can do? A 2 year old post? Dude… The game was perfect last week…. This is a bug in the client from the update… This is new code conflicting with something.
Hope they fix it soon… My wife is really mad… She hasn’t been able to play since hot released on friday.
