I have played WvW since the games release and here is what i can tell you. These suggestions would be the only real and honest way to balance the game/scoring and match ups.
First.. every server has a prime time window of about 6 hours. The rest of the day (unless your on a stacked server like BG/MAG/JQ you will see a dramatic lack of coverage simply because of the time zone differences.
The only way to alleviate the differences in coverage and scoring during these times would be to close down the servers during off hours (which they would never do) or by simply adding a player cap for all sides allowing equal numbers for all teams on all maps at the same time.
Think of it as a flow regulator in population that lets say.. team 1 has 1 person log in, then team 2 and team 3 are allowed 1 each to enter the match for example.
I know this would be a programming nightmare, but it is honestly the ONLY way they will regulate the population enough to keep off hours even and fair. I know it can be done however.
Honestly, it would be great to see something like this in all hours of the wvw game mode. Players waiting to get in would be shunted to EOTM sort of like a waiting room… which is what it was intended for in the first place.
If all sides have 30 players and 10 log out of team 2 for example.. team 3 and team 1 would get a message that 10 players have 20 seconds to volunteer to move to EOTM or someone will be removed at random. Volunteering would maybe get you a better MF buff or something like it does when a map closes in PVE.
Lets face it.. outmanned never pops when it should.. and any stacked server is going to crush lower servers in any match up, no matter how they change the scoring system.
Look at the 5 4 3 scoring system we have now. It is exactly the same as 3 2 1 which they started changing because it created gaps in scoring that players were not able to overcome.
Right now.. server tiers mean nothing because anet has said there will never be another season, but that hasnt stopped people from using the old adage, if you cant beat them.. join them. Mag, BG and JQ are the most overstacked, well covered band wagon servers in the game and they are almost always open on the world rotation accepting more people and honestly i cant see how this is even possible.
I think these changes would make it a moot point about which server you moved to because entry into wvw is based on participation by all sides using the lowest server as the throttle.
BG/MAG/JQ simply wouldn’t be able to dominate by sheer numbers and i may actually force the game to revert to more skilled play once again. I would love to see this because getting blobbed by 70-80 players when you only have 30 or less on at a given time is just killing wvw for most people right now.

I thought programs like this would get you banned.. never used any of them for that reason. Does Anet allow these now?
EOTM is bascially an overflow (or used to be) for wvw.. If you were in que, you would goto EOTM to wait til your que popped for wvw.. if you didnt like pve.
LOTS of people farmed there when they introduced ranks… so some people had diamond early on.
Then it became a training ground for wvw, sort of.. to show people how to move with a zerg etc.
Now its just… there.. havent been inside in at least 2 years.. so no clue.
oh and there is only one aspect of eotm that counts tword real wvw… when you win it puts supply in the spawn of all your teams wvw maps. Useful if your entire map is taken and you need supply to start retaking the map. But there is a drawback, there is nothing you can pop that gives you more than 15 supply from it.
It doesn’t count towards war score, map completion or anything else.. it is and always has been basically an overflow zone.

Anet refuses to do anything about the hackers (all forms, weither it be condi resistance hackers, obstruction under the map hackers, wall pass through hackers etc) which just goes to show that anet doesn’t give a kitten about this game mode.
One year into the game, anet would have banned these guys with no problem (they even implemented server software to catch the bots and specific loot hacks back in the first few months of the game) but.. since then they just dont care.
This game isn’t the cash cow that it once was… and the expansions are mediocre at best. The only way they will do anything about wvw is if it starts cutting into their bottom line, and right now they make 70% or so (i would guess) from players switching servers every few months that are trying to stay ahead of the new scoring system and stacked, hacking servers like mag.
There are so many assumptions in your question that it’s hard to give a response that will help you see what’s going on.
WvW is, as you say, a big beast. There are dozens of posts and reddit threads that make it clear that those passionate about the game mode can’t even agree about what the mode is, never mind what needs to be fixed, let alone what would be a good way to address them.
Comparing anything about fractals to WvW is like comparing Apple Computers to Oranges: fractals are small-group, instanced content. Most changes have zero impact on other game modes, adding a new fractal has no impact on anyone’s enjoyment of any other fractal, and so on.
I love Ben’s level of communication, but it’s a horrid model for WvW — first, he does it on his own time, not ANet’s. Second, his communication is reactive, i.e. he responds to specific issues of concern to us, but he rarely offers any insight to the overall direction. Thirdly, there’s very little discussion: we post, he tells us what he thinks is going on. Only when the fractal team can’t decide does he ask what we think. That wouldn’t fly at all for WvW fans.
Finally, it’s unfair to say that WvW has been abandoned. It gets just as little (or as much) attention these days as it ever did. Change comes slowly to a complicated game mode, as it needs to.
The biggest problem with WvW is that, like any other part of any MMO, players evolve their gameplay faster than the developers can grow the mode. We’ve been playing largely the same version of WvW for 4.5 years and the full-timers have gotten bored or disgusted with the drama (that is inevitable after playing that long with the same people) and moved on. The mode is still a lot of fun for folks who don’t play all the time or who are new; they haven’t learned to be jaded.
If it were easy to do something to please WvW fans, ANet would have done it already. It’s a hugely complicated mess.
(All that said, I think ANet could do a lot better, both with how they tackle WvW and with what & how often they share about that. I just don’t think that’s going to end up satisfying many of us.)
I call BS… Anet is aware of several servers that have tons of hackers… and yet nothing is done.
In the last 3 weeks alone, my team has saw and reported several people hacking through walls, inside keeps, even shooting through solid walls and floors destroying siege from 2000+ range etc… one hacker (at QL tower) got caught by our entire team when he and his buddy hacked through a solid wall and started attacking us inside while the rest of his team were still working on the gate. We all reported the person and added them to block list so we could see if they were removed. No action has been taken yet and the person is playing wvw every day… just hacking to his hearts content.. and anet doesnt give a flying kitten.
This is the problem.
Yes there are stacked servers, and the wvw scoring system is broken… but its Anet’s refusal to ban hackers that is killing the game right now.
Watch the posts on this board… this morning there are already 2 about people not taking any condi damage etc.. This isnt team make up.. this isnt resistance.. this is an example of a hack.
There is also an under map hack that some melee are running where you get “Target Obstructed” until you get right up in their face. It places the character under the map and they arent hittable at all until your right on top of them.
We also have seen people hacking inside the lords room in air palace on red bl… teleporting from supply depot to depot and shooting from the clouds above the lords room and even some standing IN the wall in lords… and they can hit us.. but we cant hit them.
When anet fixes these kinds of hacks, then you will know they care.. At this point.. its obvious Anet doesnt give a kitten about wvw.
wont happen.. Anet doesnt care about wvw anymore, hence they have said many times that there will never be another wvw season, hence the glicko changes, server stacking and linkings for lower tiers.
They only seem to care about spvp in the way that blizzard did back in the old days of WoW.
Dont expect any big changes for wvw other than shuffling that causes more server transfers so thay make money off them.

only happens to me when im playing in Eb and there are tons of people (3way with 60+ man blobs) everyone gets this lag.. the server just cant handle the load.

For the same reason they dont bring back the wvw season. The only money they make in this game is from server transfers. Leaving WvW like it is, is killing the game but as long as they make money from transfers, they will not change anything, while the game mode slowly dies.
New expansion on the horizon though… so maybe down the line .. say at least a year from now.. they will actually do something about the wvw state.
Ok, seems there are a few concerns, so let me give some info here (with no slight intended for the OP or anyone else participating in this thread):
- We encourage our team members to play the game. Many of us do. This is a good thing for the game and for the community! This is good for every aspect of the game, from PvP, to WvW, to PvE, and beyond.
- Sometimes playing the game in a competitive sense means.. you win! It doesn’t seem fair to suggest that a developer — who has absolutely no advantage on the live game — should back off, or intentionally take a dive, or move to a different server. After all, it’s likely they are and have been a participating member of a particular world for some time, and moving isn’t reasonable, nor is it required, nor should it be expected. I’m on a world that isn’t highly competitive, but I don’t find myself feeling the urge to move to a higher-ranked world. Conversely, if my world suddenly becomes competitive, I won’t be shuffling out of there to satisfy some edge-case expectation of me as a player or staff member.
- No one is required to represent the ArenaNet guild. In fact, no one at the company is even required to join the Anet guild. Both are entirely voluntary. I rep other guilds, sometimes, but I rep Anet most of the time because that’s my choice. Other members of my team are not members of the guild at all. It’s very much an individual decision.
- We don’t have a fully decked out guild hall if you mean in the decoration sense. You should have seen me scrambling to decorate for Wintersday. I’ve thought of taking up scribing to do more. Quite frankly, I feel we have a real dearth of decorations and going to other guilds’ halls to see how they decorate is always a treat for me, because they do it so well!
- Did I mention ArenaNet playing ArenaNet’s game is a good thing?
Seems funny to me the state of WvW yet Anet does things like this to “show” they actually play the game.
If you really want to impress wvw players.. fix the issues in wvw like unkillable ghost thiefs, the “Meta” builds excluding some of the best classes in game and the over all state of server stacking and wvw glicko scoring.
when you get condi on you you teleport ASAP and not stay still if he killed 6 of you then was more than one or your build was power build without any condi remove.
Stealth Traps and some skill from engi and reverant works to get out from invis….. thief dont have big condi damage if you remove them and you have nice build.
Afterwall i saw thief die more often than a necro or elementalist or mesmers wich are light class.
This thief was downing heavys and medium classes within 2 seconds. You would see the red and then instantly be downed. You didnt even have time to react and i know that 2 of the people who went down are full ptv tanks.
We were able to avoid it most of the night if we were moving, but the general consensus was that he was hacking under the map since no one was ever able to target or attack him. We did see him once and his tag was [rush] but of course we couldnt do anything to report the toon.
We arent stupid.. the instant we see damage we react.. its not like we were just standing there letting him kill us. The problem was, there is no counter to it and he was downing someone and when we could try to res them, he would down another and another and another with no counter at all. Aoe’s, stealth traps, nothing seemed to work.

The guild groups are great there, (tier 4 atm) but the pugs just dont use TS and die a ton.
Honestly i wouldnt goto t2 man… your going to run into the same thing as t1…
1 your going to be stuck there with the new scoring system.. Even with all the wvw guilds gone from TC (where we came from) they are still losing massively and are still gaining glicko because of the tier they are in. It also costs 1800 gems to goto a top tier server… any of them… because of the population.
2. all servers will be about the same as far as guilds go, except for stacked servers like mag or BG and SoS. Go where you can get people, fights and have good commanders that you actually like.
3 tier means nothing now, especially since Anet announced that they are never doing another WvW season.
My point is basically.. if your wvw community is dead (like tc was) go somewhere you can have fun.
Try a really low server (like we did with borlis pass to check out the action on SBI) first.. since it only costs about 120g to make the move to a low server and about 450g to move to a higher one.
Check out some of the wvw dedicated stat servers like MOS and see who is linked with the different tiers and do your homework. Example: Borlis pass has been linked with SBI for about 6 months now.. so next relinking, we have a pretty strong chance of getting the exact same linking with SBI.
Then, if you like what you see.. make the move to the main server you are linked with if you want.
The current linking will last at least another 3 weeks.. so you have plenty of time to get the 1800 gems you need to make the final decision.

Really the most effective thing I found was weather the storm, stand in their circle or simply run away. If someone ran, I couldn’t keep my stealth up as well and after a steal or shadowstep I was really quite ineffective!
And this is a large part of the problem with the build right here. There shouldn’t be a build where the best options are just to “weather the storm” against it or run away period. It wouldn’t matter if this was on engi, or rev, or mesmer, or war. There shouldn’t be a build where this is the best option. Every build should have actual counterplay, not just “pop your cleanses and hope he loses interest”
agreed… but there is no way to counter this at all unless your in a massive group .. cant kill what you cant even target or when you do get a target (aoe) etc on the ground it has no effect and doesnt break the stealth.
btw.. i also heard someone saying that they could use a wall to stack stealth somehow.. dont know how that would work.. since i dont play thief
It’s kind of hard to stand in their circle if you don’t have any kind of leap of teleport skills.
Well there are other options. Necro marks on that spot can help, putrid to give those conditions to him, chillbains and Reapers mark work good all being cast at range.
Things like AOE chill can slow his ability to stack stealth. Given SE does not remove chill and the Ghost Thief likely traits HIS, they have no chill removal unless they throw in shadowstep , and the point of this is to inhibit stacking of stealth after the cast of Black powder.
The HS , black powder comb is not an evade so AOE that persist things can work.
Glue shot and muddy terrain can also help. What you want to do is see that powder field and act as quickly as possible to inhibit the ability to stack stealth. He generally wants to get 3 or 4 iterations and if you can cut that in half with immobs and the like he less effective.
I think too many , on locating the area where the thief stacks, want to inflict damage rather then using some form of CC. Ghost thief is usually core meaning no Unhindered Combat , little in the way of stun breaks, no way to break IMMOB that does not affect their build. SE only removes DAMAGING conditions so that has to be used against him.
The damage they can deal with. They still stack the stealth as you damage them and have rejuv and resilience helping them survive such till that stealth stacked PLUS that heavier armor.
If one watches videos of these guys working they tend to stack stealth out of the enemies LOS. If a player or group can identify where that Black powder field is (easier said then done in many cases) they can act on it without having to close that range.
we tried everything.. even when we were with the entire zerg, he was attacking and downing people while standing stacked in the zerg blob. At the time, we had marks, symbols down and be buffing etc.. and he would evade all that and pop someone… they would down and we would rez them.
he basically followed us (tork) around all night and tried to kill us (me especially and a few other backliners) for about 5 hours. At least with people around us we could rez and had enough damage mid to live.
There’s no way to not be revealed if you trip a stealth trap, unless there’s a new bug nobody’s reported. So, yeah, maybe supply traps got dropped?
It’s a lame build though, that does need some sort of fix.

IF they truly were stealth traps then the guy was hacking and was under the map killing you as there is no way to trigger a stealth disruptor without getting revealed as far as I know.
Good to know.. ill try and report him if i can ever get a target on him long enough to right click and report.
Bring cleanse to wvw, and leave the area. They aren’t worth the effort.
Did you drop more than one trap at a time?

Any chance he watched you drop one (easy to see), avoided it…then watched you drop another (first one would disappear)…and continued to laugh at you?Ghost thief shouldn’t be a thing…but it’s usually easily ignored. Move on.
Im ranger with healing spring and survival traited.. cleanses condis per tick.. we also had a few guards clearing condis also.. nothing worked. we would clear.. then poof.. full line of condi on us… down… dead.
There was only 1 that we saw.. RUSH tag (im on borlis pass atm) and we couldnt even click on him or tab target long enough to right click and report… anything.. would only see him when he was 1500 yards away or more.. full stealth the entire time he was attacking us.. so no way to target and kill or even do anything.
I have noticed that a ton of zergs now on borlis pass now are getting eaten up by them.. running in packs of 5-6 just killing backline left and right on an engage. The only way to counter them is to keep moving and hope they dont pop the venom that roots you.. if you do.. your dead.

This will turn build making to a new level for all professions.And i know that leaked info of the next expansion probably wont be used in the upcoming expansion…. so in before hand don’t use SANDshroud if you really gonna give us torch (sadly) make scorch shroud something fiery that matches the weapon.

I’m not telling you what you guys should or must do with the game you made and designed. I just don’t want to be disappointed anymore this my all time favorite class since gw1 we are being ignored by the whole raid community and neglected by the developers.

I use dagger myself as a second hand weapon for the speed up.I have to admit i’m not crazy about dagger whatsoever.
Axe is good but i feel like the dmg isn’t as good as for an example ranger dmg with its super shot.The dmg of number 2 kind of feels lackluster in conquest at times.Only reason i can see really high numbers, is if someone else is hitting the same target and i got to see 8k dmg cause 2 people on 1 target.I might do 3000 dmg plus vulnerability, but not much more.I’m not crazy about the other abilities, and 1 feels kinda weak.I feel like a liability if i am stuck without 2 to burst someone harder since there is no way i can burst someone hard enough to down them with number 1, and 2 might burst someone down but only if they don’t focus me.
I main ranger in wvw and to be honest, i do TONS more damage than necro or reaper spec simply because i can never stop shooting.
I run pew pew glass build so i stand on the fringe, and just wail on em with rapid fire, barrage and knock back. I use staff wisp if i get caught and i also have an invul and a water that clears any condis every tick.. so sometimes i can just stand in the bomb, pop my invul, drop water and pew pew then wisp out.
On power reaper, 1200 range means i have to be closer to start, drop wells that do nothing really (yeah they convert boons and give stabo to the team) but when we drop them on the frontline the spot is usually so hot they get no condi clear or stabo from it.
And forget about jumping in if the other group has more than 20 people (if we have 20ish)
when outnumbered even the slightest, you dont have the damage midigation to take any hits and your shroud is gone before you can even do your spin (most of the time)
i just wish that anet would look at the class again and make power reaper viable in wvw.
I have thought about going full condi vit toughness gear and running bleed spec with reaper as bust, but i dont know if that would work.

I was standing in a camp the other night right after a cap and something hit someone standing beside me.. All the sudden, his HP went from full to downstate with a ton of condi on him. I ran over to rez him and was also instantly downed.. the next person came in to rez us… instant down.
All we would see was one red circle.
It was a ghost perma stealth trap thief i was told.. He ended up killing 6 people because we simply had no defence against him. You cant kill what you cant see, target or even have an effect on.
Seriously anet… how are you supposed to fight someone you can never even get a target on?
BTW… dont say stealth traps to reveal him… dropped 5 of them.. he popped them all (in front of a camp full of guards that should also have revealed him) yet he never came out of stealth.
Any plans to fix this before the BLs are overrun with gank squads of ghost thiefs?
I have been swapping back and forth between my necro and my ranger and other toons for the last few weeks in wvw and i have come to one final conclusion…. Necro needs some kind of escape and shouldnt rely solely on its shroud bar to live.
Back in the day when every necro was condi and they had great damage with every skill, i can see why mobility and escapes were left out (taken away) but with the new reaper spec, which is meant to be a way to give necros a way to run frontline) i think the devs should take another look at them since most who actually run reaper run power based.
As reaper, even if you run PVT gear, you can never stand up to the damage like a heavy armor class because cloth armor just doesnt have the armor base to support the class.
Yes, as reaper you get a health boost but that means nothing if you dont have the armor and get crit every hit.
As it stands right now, reapers have very little to no survivability in wvw as power… and that is the ONLY way to play reaper since they have to be power based to do any damage with reaper shoud and you should be mid line to frontline ready to jump in.
If you are power, your wells and marks do NO damage so your worthless unless you can sustain a push.
If you go condi, your reaper shroud is worthless… so you go classic necro backline staff wells (which is not what this post is about)
I am trying to make the point that given the new reaper spec.. there has to be a trade off that makes it WORTH taking reaper and running the power that supports it.
Two ways they could fix the problems and make everyone happy who wants to play the front line cloth class you promised without making reaper OP.
First, if you go reaper line (its all based on power already) just make it so that your attacks, wells everything are power based… condi ticks, well activation etc.. are all converted to the power equivalent… maybe make it a stand alone trait in the reaper line that does slightly less than a full condi reaper.. but at least close so when we cant jump in in shroud we are at least doing some kind of noticeable damage.
Second you need to give reapers a kind of teleport (better than the crappy wyrm) or some kind of mobility on the battlefield.. Something that is close to blink, mist form or the ansecertrial grace of druid staff. If you are not going to every give necros a full 33% run buff… the least you could do is a 1200 movement skill that teleports you out of danger if you get caught because right now, necros are ALWAYS the first to go down because we have no stabo and no mobility on the battlefield and with no run buff, we are almost always the last in the battle and the first to go down.
I say dont add stabo to reaper simply because the stabo we have now on shroud 3 sucks and with the nerfs to it (for all classes) it is completly useless. Stabo in its current form gets stripped so easily the only chance for a necro reaper to live would be an escape skill as mentioned above.
Reduce our health if we take reaper line maybe as a trade off. I would love to have the druid staff 3 wisp teleport as a necro with about the same HP as my power range. But in doing so, you would need to slightly enhance our base toughness and vitality to make is like a heavy armor class or at the very least a medium armor class, because if you go reaper, thats bascially what you are.. a cloth tank class. Make reapers a medium to heavy tank in cloth with at least one escape. LIKE EVERY OTHER CLASS IN THE GAME HAS.
Most classes have multiple escapes.. Some (like thief) can never be pinned down and they at least get medium armor and invis)
I understand that necros were once unkillable with shroud and the extra HP but that is far from the case these days. On my ranger i can literally burn down a reaper with one rapid fire and not even break a sweat.
People complain about reaper because we are playing it the way you intended.. as a power frontline class now… yet i doubt that you intended nor envisioned that all the other classes would be doing anywhere near the damage output that they do now. An extra HP bar with less health than a glass mesmer is no match for the original design and really needs to be looked at again

Oh and the server merge was voted down by players.. so it never happened. In its place we got server stacking and linking and a glicko war score that cant be overcome mid week making wvw almost not worth playing unless you are winning or the scores are very close and maintained.
even though there is no wvw season, all the tier 1 servers a few weeks ago had links.
Mag/Bg/ had links and TC and a few others did not.
This lead to massive server stacking (transfers) to those servers leaving many of the other servers empty.
TC lost hundreds of players and was locked for months, while BG Mag and the other servers were OPEN for months at a time allowing the server stacking to continue.
Meanwhile.. the scoring was changed from 2 1 1 to 5 4 3 so that any server in tier 1 has an un-naturally high chance of staying there from artificially inflated glicko scoring.
The game is not dead… its just broken because of bad decisions on the WvW devs parts.
Right now as it stands, wvw is empty because reset is tonight and with the new scoring system no one has a chance to make a comeback past Tuesday night or maybe late Wednesday.
Was wondering, someone mentioned that server relinking was soon? Is that tonights reset?
They buffed a weapon that no one uses.. GG anet.. way to make reaper viable in wvw.. buff a melee weapon that no clothie should ever be using.
Tw and guilds like them are also cancer to a server… they came to TC collected people and moved after almost destroying the wvw community.
JQ paid 34,000 gold to move them there and they did the same thing they did on tc. Came in, tried to take over and when they kittened off enough people, they moved again.
Anyway… the new scoring system is part of what is killing wvw.
Look at tc. It’s lost almost 75% of its wvw players in the last 6 months and 2 weeks ago only had a 5.3% chance of tier 1.
On reset last week… TC of course, got tier 1 and with the scoring changes (even though we are losing massively) we are moving UP in Glicko instead of down.
TC barely even has numbers now to que a single map. Anet did open TC today for transfers after months of being locked, but I doubt it will last more than a few days or that we will ever have good numbers for wvw like it was just a year ago.
Forgot to add that TC doesn’t want to be tier 1 simply because we just do not have the numbers to play in that tier… honestly… while in tier 2 we were outnumbered and losing. There is no logical reason that our Glicko should be going up… none at all.
Right now… wvw is just a numbers game. If you have the people you win…
Before Hot expansion.. 10 really goodon’t players could take on 30 players but with all the damage changes those days are over.
Now days it is all stacked and linked servers and scoring changes that are locking almost empty wvw wise servers like tc into tiers they shouldn’t be in. Until they make changes, tc will be locked in tier 1 because if we are moving UP now… when we are losing so badly that we barely have 30 on all the maps combined in primetime… I would hate to see our score if we actually had a population.
Tw and guilds like them are also cancer to a server… they came to TC collected people and moved after almost destroying the wvw community.
JQ paid 34,000 gold to move them there and they did the same thing they did on tc. Came in, tried to take over and when they kittened off enough people, they moved again.
Anyway… the new scoring system is part of what is killing wvw.
Look at tc. It’s lost almost 75% of its wvw players in the last 6 months and 2 weeks ago only had a 5.3% chance of tier 1.
On reset last week… TC of course, got tier 1 and with the scoring changes (even though we are losing massively) we are moving UP in Glicko instead of down.

It wasn’t, you got rolled into T1 by dumb luck and gained glicko points from maguuma and blackgate by virtue of the scoring system.
With the scoring changed to 5-4-3, maguuma only has 41% more points than tarnished coast. As such, they lost glicko points to a server they otherwise blew out. Had the scoring remained at 2-1-1, maguuma would have had 55% more points than TC, and black gate 24% more.
TC would not have gained the 30 glicko points they gained, but the newest scoring system has a mathematical quirk where it will make the same match up more likely each week.

so… you are saying if we dont even play at all.. I mean totally quit… we will be the top server in a few weeks?
This makes NO sense.. we dont even have enough people to que a map… and yet they open BG and mag both for more xfers… yet TC is locked, doesnt play, loses by scores of 8000 to less than 1000 and we GAIN glicko?

nope TC is dead.. we lost a ton of people and even on reset, we are lucky to que 2 maps. Most of the time.. we only Que EB. Some nights we dont even have a team on our home BL because we dont even have enough to que EB.
This week we have been outmanned so badly, but yet again the outmanned buff is broken and almost never pops.
We would have 20-30 max on a map while both BG and MAG would have 2 groups of 60+ fighting against us and we would never get the outmanned buff, not that it would have saved us.. just saying its still broken
If we get Tier 1 again tonight, i may be leaving for WoW again or transfering to a mag or something.. i cant stand playing on TC anymore with this BS happening, yet Anet says everythings working as intended.
TC is dead.. the game is dying, devs leaving left and right… and WvW will never get fixed… hasnt been yet and when you ask you get the same BS answers as above.

yeah we saw you guys running with Tork last week on TC for reset. There were 5 total Anet devs
Hasnt done a kitten thing for dev/player relations. TC was manually adjusted last week to put us back in tier 1 even though our server is dead. This week against mag and BG we got rolled because of very low population and for tonights reset we now have a 26% chance of tier 1 again when last week we only had a 5% chance.
AND TC IS STILL LOCKED.. has been for like 6 months.. while mag and BG are open and they are ALREADY HUGE
This idea that they are doing this to improve player/dev relations is just stupid.

Ok so.. for the last month, TC has been in Tier 2 and we have been losing because of very low population.
Last week we only had a 5.3% chance of tier 1 and we got it anyway.
There was a rumor that Anet stepped in and manually placed us in tier 1…
Okay.. it was only for a week and everyone accepted it.
For an entire week we have been outmanned on every map.. 90% of our people didnt even play and we lost almost every skirmish.. sometimes by a HUGE margin
usually something like
Mag 8,000
BG 6000
TC 1200
Now.. With that said.. I looked up the predicted rankings for tonights reset
Tier 2 66.9 %
Tier 1 26.1 %
Tier 3 7.0 %
HOW the heck did we move up?
How do we now have a 26.1% chance for tier 1?????
Was our glicko adjusted????
On tc we can siege up a tower and we dont even have enough people to man all the siege yet we NEVER even get the outmanned buff usually…
Can we get a dev to comment on this?
WvW is dying because of severe server stacking and imbalance.
I have noticed since the past hotfix patch the other night, that my reaper (both wvw and pve) seem to do less damage by a considerable amount.
Before patch i was getting around 3000-6000 hits on my reaper whirl in shroud while after patch that number has dropped to 1200-3000 max on the same level targets.
Other players are asking if the minions have been stealth nerfed also as they now do less damage than before.
I run power necro so the change is very noticeable and nothing has changed as far as gear is concerned.
Anyone else seem to be missing dps overall or on large skills since last patch?
These completely unbalanced matchups are extremely harmful to WvW – I don’t think people mind losing that much, but being steamrolled all the team just takes the fun out of it. As long as the healthiest option is not to play WvW, unbalanced matchups will kill the WvW population. I saw it when Vabbi imploded from small into a handful (15 players on all maps together in the last months before world linking) and I see it again with some of the servers we are being linked to.
Agreed… I love wvw.. its basically pvp on a large scale.. but when you go to cap a camp or something small solo and a group of 40 shows up every time.. its just stupid.
also… on the server linking part… TC hasnt had a linking for over 6 months… yet MAG and BG had one up until the last change a few weeks ago… and they lost theirs only because they are now so stacked from being opened for transfers that they are simply unbeatable on any map.
If you want to make the game fun again.. MAKE IT EQUAL NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if the devs actually read this… PLEASE IMPLEMENT a some kind of 1 v1 v1 ratio for people zoning into wvw. I know it can be done (like the messages you get when people zone out of any other map in the game) “This map will be closing in 4:00 mins” kind of thing…

I agree… I am a player on Tarnished Coast and WvW has just gotten out of hand with all the guilds transferring, the server stacking, linked servers and the way the new scoring system has been implemented and outmanned buffs not working correctly for months.
This game mode used to be fun, but now that we have a lower population on TC (*because of the guild transfers mentioned above) we get rolled on any map because we cant compete against stacked servers like mag and BG.
Take last night for example..
20 of TC us total on the EB map.
Mag has a full map zerg of all condi necros and a 30 man tank frontline.
Even BG had a 40 man zerg ( and they are supposed to be dying because of transfers also)
There is simply no way we can compete with those kind of numbers.. yet.. we still log in.
At one point, the skirmish score was MAG 7,890 BG 3,400 and TC 1,290 Thats just kittened..
Mag got stacked because they opened it for xfers again a few weeks ago.. Even BG got opened for transfers last week.. meanwhile TC has been closed for MONTHS.
We on TC have been in tier 2 for two weeks, and this week we only had a 5.3% chance of tier 1, yet… last week someone overheard a dev saying we would be manually placed in tier 1 this week.. and guess what.. WE WERE.
ALSO…. We can have less that 20 on map at almost any point of the day, and they have full map blobs.. YET.. we almost NEVER get the outmanned buff…
THE KICKER IS>>>> we on TC had the outmanned buff from reset to about 1 am about 2 months ago one reset night.. and we actually HAD A QUED MAP..
Now… Someone explain to me (since you have to be out numbered 3 to 1 for it to appear at all which is stupid anyway…) can we have a fully qued map (34+) and still be outmanned 3 to 1

Anywho… yes … WVW is broken but Anet will not do anything about the wild transfers because after all.. its how they make money in the game (gems for xfers) Example.. JQ paid 34,000 gold to transfer a guild off of TC a few months ago while we were still in tier 1 pretty solid.. and its gotten worse since then.
How to fix? I dont know.. BUT i would suggest a new outmanned buff.. and maybe a severely outmanned buff or something.. or just change the amount of players allowed on a map at all.. some kind of 1 to 1 to 1 system so you can never be outmanned.
This would fix the transfers… people would actually xfer to lower tier servers so they dont have to wait in ques i think.
Since there will NEVER be another WvW season anyway (or so we have been told). this might actually be the only way to fix the imbalance.
has been since implementation and the mesmer LOS fix way back in the first few months of the game.. otherwise you could teleport around like a mesmer.. in and out of keeps, on walls.. where ever you place it.. wasnt intended for that
i use axe simply for the 2 spin, and 1 isnt bad either for damage
Did the buff pop for you? it didn’t pop for us… and we were definitely outmanned 3 to 1 easily.. as i said people were even lagging out completely in some of the fights.
we had 50 as i said ( and thats pushing it with pugs) and they FA had 2 huge zergs twice our size and sos had a huge map blob also… so yeah.. should have popped but didnt
Btw.. this was happening on TCBL .. I dont know about the other borderlands. I think EB was the only other BL with a que.. and they had maybe 50 people there total and were getting rolled by massive zergs twice their size also..
I have a question about the way that the unmanned buff is calculated.
Let me stat off by saying I play on tarnished coast and this week we are fighting fa and sos. Both fa and sos are linked and tc is not.
Is the oumanned buff working as intended?
The reason I ask is because last night on tc we had one squad with 30 people.. And very few pugs… And only a few roamers. No other tags on map and a really small squad… yet we had a map que.
Fa had 2 60 man zergs and sos had one huge blob. The amount of names in each engagement actually lagged people out and offline and was causing skill lag.
By my thinking… We should have been Outmanned yet we did have a que of 4 to 5 most of the night. The Outmanned buff never popped however.
Now with that said.. I know there was a bug with the Outmanned calculation that caused us to be Outmanned even with a full que on reset a few weeks ago on EB, and this was looked into by a dev.. and was corrected. BUT with this kind of thing happening again, im starting to wonder if the server linking is messing with the outmanned buff calculations or the que itself.
We don’t have a linking while the other two servers do. Maybe we are still at the point for a single server where the outmanned buff will not pop correctly?
Could this be causing us to have a lower que also? or cause the Outmanned buff to not work as it should against stacked servers?
We were so obviously outnumbered last night that people were just logging off because of lag caused by the other zergs and deaths to massive numbers.
Can we get a dev to look into this asap? It is completely killing any WvW that is left

There is also a bug that is making the scores 0 out and markings on wvw objectives disappear (cap colors, flags etc) could be related… maybe

I have had it happen on at least 3 pcs
I know that this has been happening for years but i wanted to see if we can get an explanation or at least acknowledgement that it is a known issue and is being worked on.
When playing in wvw, sometimes when you use a transformation potion (or anything that causes your character to change appearance like getting in and out of a golem) your character sometimes disappears.
This happens with transformation potions, the kodan potion also and I even had it happen this week while using the art of dancing volume 1 item.
You can sometimes use skills, like druid staff 3 (wisp form) and it will force a reload of your character, but it is very rare.
When this happens, it is almost always permanent until you reload the client. Sometimes you can zone in and out of WvW and it will fix… but as i said, it usually requires a client restart.
As a side note… it seems a lot worse when there is an event happening like the lunar holiday or christmas or halloween events (for example)
Any ETA on a fix for this?

There’s no way to nurture communities. Now its just about following the bandwagon and trying to get on the 1 and only server that has commanders and no-lifers still playing.
Please put a balancing option into EotM and change that awful map.. Servers are dead.
I suggested many times introducing a new outmanned buff trigger or a way to only allow people on the WVW maps according to the direct population thats on.. 1 red 1 green 1 blue and open slots as people port in, but keep it to 1 to 1 to 1.
The outmanned buff is broken too.. many times this week we on TC have been only about 20 on map, with a bg zerg of 40 and mag with a full map que and OUR OUTMANNED BUFF NEVER POPPED… then a month or so ago… the outmanned buff popped on EB with a full map que on TC.
They just really need to fix the server population imbalance and stop servers like MAG and BG from linking when they are already full. Server stacking is killing the game mode
Let me explain why TC hasnt been winning the past 3 weeks…
1. TC wvw is dead. For servers like TC that lost all their players to servers in the top tier, we dont have enough players or even commanders to really make a difference. Right now, without a linking… TC barely has enough wvw’ers to que a single map (usually EB.. and maybe one more, Usually TC… and thats on reset night. Throughout the week its impossible to contend with the constant double team of 60+ man zergs from mag and BG on every map.
2. The rest of the week goes like this. We get tier 1.. everyone execpt the hard core players bug out for the week. Even most of our established commanders (with the exception of a few die hard commanders like Zog) even log in other than just a few minutes. They all say “With our population so low, there is no use logging in and getting blobbed.” and i cant blame them.. its terrible. Its been weeks since i saw even an EB Que during prime time. We only have a handful of players, and the occasional people from PVE popping in for dailies, so its impossible to fight against stacked servers like Mag and the mega blobs.
3. WVW is not dead.. its just hibernating.. i guess you could say. There are a LOT of people that play this game for JUST WvW … myself included. But with the current matchup and linkings, the game is just unplayable against stacked server mega blobs. Either get rid of them.. or give every server a link to make it fair. How the hell the tier 1 bandwagon server got a linking is beyond me… makes no sense at all.
Server re-linking is tonight so hopefully TC will get a link.. or at least we will drop to tier 2 until population comes back up or some guilds xfer over. The only bad thing is.. if we hit tier 2 we dominate for a week or 2 and then boom.. right back in tier 1 with the stacked servers and we get rolled over.
The game is far from dead… but the current system simply sucks because for some unknown reason the top tier servers got linked and ones with low pop like TC didn’t which creates a huge imbalance..
To prove a point.. i as many, have noticed that many times this week, even at NA prime time, Mag has more people running havoc and roaming that we have in our full squad.
We can only hope that they fix this.. but i dont know if they will since they seem to still be trying to make SPVP a sport like blizzard did in WoW and they are also working on the new expansion. Time will tell though
btw.. the character is only invisable on the persons account that used the potion or golem… everyone else can see them, so it has to be a bug in the code line to make the game reload the character after using effects, like maybe a simple trigger line.
