People just need to accept that map for what it is. Believe it or not it does take skill knocking/pulling players to there death esp if both opponents are running cc builds . It becomes a game of positioning, timing your evades and blocks. For now accept the map is here to stay and play something that takes advantage of the map.
Solution: last player ready of 5th team will get sent back in the que(have priority for next match). Game will then be played as a 4v4. This might also encourage player to be rdy for matches a bit earlier instead of waiting until the last possible second.
Yes fire and air is stupid. Without those procs you really don’t do enough damage. I think maybe toning down trickery would help (splitting sleight of hand into 2 traits, decreasing vigour uptime if you took the daze, and decreasing offense if you took the cooldown).

I have got 4 since April though I have played quite a lot. Also I have received several rings and you can also farm the ascended mats from spvp now.
Meh I actually prefer the spvp drangon finisher, it all comes down to your opinion. I still like shark better than both.
Why does it matter you could even have a 70%loss and 30%win ratio and be in the top part of the leaderboard.
I know this will sound shocking in this no skill/mindless spam/carried by class game but its actually about player.
Some classes are better than other of course but when you are looking for people to play with good player on average class will benefit you more than average player on good class.
You want people to be at right time in right place doing right thing not just randomly die all over the map on some OP build.
And even “skill” requirement of classes are BS, its about your dodge/cooldown management/game knowledge/positioning/situational awareness and not about how many fancy tricks your class have, once you master one class you can be decent on any class and great once you get used to that new class.

you “can” be good in pvp as an ele,
but you need to put alot more skill and practice into it to get the same results as a class like engi or warrior.if you’re serious about sticking with ele then you can be great with practice,
but there are far easier classes that can get the job done just as well.
Depends on the engi build running a multiple kit build can be strong but also challenging.
First of all it depends on the map but its easier to carry with bunker builds(pref Guard). Mid fight at start is really important, you can influence the match more by contributing to the first encounter. After you win mid bunker it that will help a lot more than sitting on home for most of the match, due to the fact close is the easiest point to decap. I could say more but cbb.

ele is not class for pvp. thats it. he is completly unplayable in competetive pvp. I played him for 120+ arena matches, and i defeated only injured or noob players. he is 1 trick ponny = 80iq required. every class can defeat him 1v1 without any problem. 90% oh his talents are crap without use in pvp. If u want to play pvp, play what is op atm. thats how mmo works. howgh
You sir are speaking out of you kitten hole else is part of soloq and tpvp meta now. The only thing keeping ele in check are necros.

First I’d like to suggest learning D/F which is in my opinion the most viable weaponset for spvp and tpvp.
Secondly here are two more viable meta builds; tried ’m out both and they work wonders for me:
Might-stacking celestial build:

Signet of restoration + Glyph of Elements
Celestial Amulet, Sigil of Battle, Sigil of Doom, Runes of Strength.Play-style:
You use Glyph of elements in fire for extra burning sustain dps, use dodges and cantrips naturally (don’t spam ‘m just for the might stacks) you’ll get to 25 stacks approximately mid-fight and will by then win nearly any match-up.Second build:
This is a point holder build (my favorite one).

The anti-condition grandmaster trait in earth is amazing!
two cantrips and again glyph of elemental power to be used in air for the constant weakness application.
Signet of Restoration, Glyph of Elements again.
Cleric Amulet, Runes of the Grove, Sigil of Renewal + Sigil of WaterPlay-style:
You basically try to keep your hp above the 90% to prevent any conditions from being applied to you. This works quite well with the regeneration from cantrips, protection from auras, weakness from glyph of elemental power and your constant signet of restoration heals.
If your opponent is a condition-heavy one you will win hands-down… unless they run away after failing to apply any conditions for 3 minutes :p
This to my experience is by far the strongest bunker build the elementalist has to offer as per example:
First time trying out the build we were teamed up against a group that had 4 people with condition heavy buildsStayed in mid kept point and held all 4 of ’m busy for 6 minutes, then their fifth got off a lucky backstab bringing me below the 90% hp threshold and then the conditions ate me up in seconds, poison and confusion preventing me from healing back up. Then they reported me as a hacker and smacktalked me
I use both these builds with D/F but I figure they should be viable with D/D too but again I really suggest you learn to play D/F, its less mobile than the D/D but its got too many usefull pvp skills to keep using off-hand dagger.
And just in case this happens:
I’m not a noob I’m a 1300 rank 68 Elementalist, 2000 hours total on all professions, I pvp almost exclusively for the past 3 months. But I’m not a pro either
When I play my engine I hate dealing with D/F get two of them on a team oh boy unless the other team got some decent melee builds you don’t have to much to worry about.
Just tossing it out there, but why would someone solo roam in WvW when you can just queue up SPVP and get a very similar play style but without all the running? Is there something I’m missing?
And the rewards in PVP are quite nice now, can’t say the same for WvW outside of big clashes of zergs where the bags are flowing.
Kinda true but roaming in wvw and spvp generally will have a lot of different builds.
I think the buff should be 365days. Seriously. There is NO excuse for abandoning the team mid-fight! I feel this way because I’m sick of being on teams in the minority because idiots leave.
You know people have circumstances that they absolutely have to leave. I am shocked to find out it is 72 hours because that is down right harsh. Even a couple hours is a long time but a full 3 days is ridiculous.
Nope not harsh enough to many 4v5 and afks as it is. The Op had to have been afk or left couple times in the same day not just once
Op what level/Rank are you on tpvp and spvp on LB? Coz staff ele is a beast.
Full SA thief not even viable in current tpvp and Spvp. When you compare thiefs healing to other classes its much worse. So no Op l2p.
Best thing to do is log off(though I dont really do that) alot of the time I do not play the easiest spec in spvp and at times I can get frustrated. What I sometimes do is hop on the most braindead god like spec possible faceroll for bit. Then hop back on to a class/spec that I actually enjoy playing.
I wonder if this list needs to be different for teamq versus soloq. While I’ve heard that Engineers aren’t viable in top tier Teamq, in soloq they do quite well in top tier. Nevirsaydie was top 25 in soloq up until this week, he runs a 3 kit engi, and was very good at point assault with good survivability.
Yep SoloQ and TeamQ very very different. Engi only really isn’t that great in TeamQ due to the fact there are quite easy to focus compared to the other top tiered classes. Where as in SoloQ they can almost be god mode do to lack of team work.

This is really close to where the current meta is, I would prob drop sd thief down a teir but pretty spot on.

Well the move itself isn’t so bad but on an asura its just kittened up.
Wvw roaming and spvp on multiple classes and builds can keep you going for a long time

To quickly recap what you have all been saying, it looks like there are two significant groups that think they have the best solution to this issue.
The first being to scale all of the asuras up to be larger and scale down the charr and norn. The second is to turn everyone in the match into a human.
I think that there are a few things worth mentioning. The ‘generic humans from WvW’ are not like other character models in the game. They have a smaller animation set which would be unable to properly display all animations, which is exactly what the original problem is. The other thing to note is that with SAB the scaling did not make all races the same height.
Hopefully this provides some insight and can help drive discussion on more viable potential solutions.
How about setting asura to there max size as default upon entering the mist. Also increase there max size by 10%-15%?

Turret engine extremely good soloQ but at the higher end of teamq not so good.
If someone goes afk entire fight what do you report them as?
If someone doesn’t participate (same thing as afk but sits in base/safe zone all day) in the entire fight what do you report them as?

Joined in tonight and had a blast. The builds were all absurdly cheesy. People could specify which particularly cancerous builds they didn’t want to fight when signing up.
I wouldn’t do it again, though. I just don’t have the heart to run a ridiculous build, which means I’d lose a lot of money.
We started doing 2v2s near the end of the night, and those were a lot more fun. I hadn’t done 2v2s before, but we managed to have a couple of nice fights even though my teammate and I weren’t able to voip at the time.
tl;dr dueling=trolling but everybody should try it once. 2v2/3v3 actually has a real future in GW2, I hope.
Agreed 2v2 and 3v3 have so much potential.

Regardless of what people say I find this game fun. I love the combat system and playing lots of different classes with different builds is very enjoyable.
You can already counter this turret forest with one staff ele or with other AE damage easy. But you have to play coordinated. If you run on point you will die in short time. If you remove the turrets and pressure the engi you will win. But to fight against AI is never fun.
Let us guess for a moment they would play 5 MM necros or 5 mesmer. The problem with AI are for many classes the same.

Yea my bad I didnt fully remember the build, I play so many builds on so many classes.
I played around with it today and not much reason to not run Malicious sorcery but thanks for point it out. I might of ran Illusionary Retribution but I think Malicious sorcery is a better choice unless you are going to shatter alot.

So another “fun” evening of afk’ing tonight … again.
2 matches so far, both been forced to afk in the base because of OP unkillables.
First match was OP Necro with his bazillion minions and pets and his bazillion hp while him and his mobile zoo rip my face off … no thanks.
Second match, versus 5 Mesmers. Again, unbalanced and pointless with al the phantasms and illusions, no thanks … afk.

Yea took a break for couple of weeks to play more wvw and do some pvE, here is one of the threads I made when entering the top 1000 the build in the video is one of the builds I used to get there. Sitting at 94% atm give me couple hours

I think the fight of you vs. guard & thief pretty much showed the problem of your build:
There’s no point of “pointholder-build” if it only can hold a point vs. 1 player.I appreciate your attempt to make some kind of “bunker mesmer”, but this usually won’t work 1 vs. 2 or sth.
Just think about it:
Why would you need a Spec, which is focused on holding a point 1 vs. 1?
You could also just use another good spec which allows you to win 1 vs 1 fights (and thus lets you keep the point) but therefore also brings other benefits to your team.
Depends on the class if I can 1v2 at the same time my DPs is much higher than a bunker and bunker is prob a wrong way to describe the I switch between zerker and celestial ammy. That’s why called it bunkerish and not a bunker.

The first video is post patch and I am a hybrid. The builds for soloq and teams can be quite different in soloq its safer to go for a self sufficient build. Shatter builds in soloq aren’t really worth the effort esp when you don’t know if u can rely on your team or not. Using the build in the first bid I was hovering in the 200ish zone in both tpvp and soloq.

I think mega servers are overall good for the game but sometimes I do miss the non mega server days. So if anet made 1 server a non-mega server would you prefer to play on it?
It could also make events such as the blitz Crown Pavilion much easier to organize and complete.
Skyhammer is my favorite map BECAUSE of the knockback! It’s the only map I can actually shove an annoying player over the edge without having to spend 15mins trying to nuke him down.

I foresee an incoming nerf to turret engi builds, I don’t thing it needed atm but the spec is very easy to play and so strong in soloq. The amount of grief its causing is very entertaining.
