You use a staff and a greatsword… you switch to focus sometimes ? Focus and what else ?… Sorry… i just feel like you are combining the benefits for like 4 different builds together. You can’t exchange weapons in combat, neither can you retrait so…
If it’s about changing out of combat… then i’ll take a focus as well… and feedback…

While i will not have… Warden’s Feedback – Focus skills reflect projectiles. Reduces recharge of focus skills by 20%.
and… Temporal Enchanter – Increases the duration of all Glamour skills by 2 seconds.
and… Glamour Master – Glamour skills recharge 20% faster.

I will have about 40% more damage at all times…

At the same time when YOU have these… you lose your healing, and you have 40% lower damage at all times…

You can’t have all of the above, and healing, and the damage… and everything… Since we are talking about weapon switching, not only utility switch… i can do that to…
Between you and me i prefer to have 40% more damage at all times, then to have some very fancy feedbacks… don’t like situational stuff.

You have said so many good things about your build, but that’s like… not just one build. If you switch traits and weapon and utility… that’s another build entirely, if we were playing a game i would say you are cheating.

PS: So… in my build i just take a focus with me, and switch for portal and feedback… now my build doesn’t lack so much support.

you have 40% more damage, but not 40% more phantasm damage.

thats the main issue here isnt it. all those traits that boost % damage don’t apply to illusion damage.

considering the dps of having 3 phantasms out greatly surpasses any damage you alone can output, i’d rather take good utility and good phantasm damage rather than no utility at all.

also with the right trait lines, you can switch traits without having to retrait, this is what he means by changing traits to fit the encounter. it’s one build that can be retraited out of combat before the encounter to best suit the encounter.

you cant steal boons with no timer on them. some mobs have passive always on boons, you can’t steal those.

Looks like we are in the exact same position AR and BP was.

Sort of, except we are loving it! Thanks for the fun fights FA in our BL this morning. Taking garrison back was good times. We aren’t use to having that kind of army to push through. Mags BL today has been a blast too. That kitten zerg got the drop on us a couple times, and I find that impressive considering you were a larger group than us. You guys move fast and we have to be more on our toes with our area scouts.

we had 15-20, how many were you sporting cutie?

What’s up with D$rp zergballing? Noticed that on opener and got disappointed…

I have them moaing me all the time when i’m being zerged….Like 5vs me, and i’ll get moa’d or I’m fighting Thief+Mesmer, and I’ll get moa’d…sometimes twice during the fight .

its bm for mesmers to use any elite other than invis in duels. doesn’t apply to roaming.

it’s obstructed, because los in gw2 is based off your feet basically. there is no clear los from your feet to the opponents feet, therefore it’s obstructed. jumping often lets you get past this.

as for the not attacking, it’s because it was summoned on a slope or some kind. the illusion AI can’t handle using skills on slopes, even though they can walk up and down them. this is most easily seen on sword #3 dash and berserker whirl, the illusion will attempt to leap/spin, but fail, then proceed to walk to the target.

Keep this stomping tip quiet… but if you wait for a downed mesmer to raise his hands and start casting #2 before hitting the stomp, they will actually come out of stealth before the stomp ends – meaning you can blink to them and finish it. You have to time it RIGHT before they go invis though.

except any mesmer that know what they’re doing wont be using #2 until the the very last second.

you can pop Distortion while stomping “finishing” ppl, and you can also do all the other shatters as well during mid stomp. None of the shatter skills cancels other toggled skills. Means you can BF Shatter. More epic is interrupting warrior’s hammer

Edit, you may miss-hit a utility such as decoy, and it will interrupt stomps.

Yeah I almost always use Distortion when I stomp but it seemed that more than a few times when I stomped, the opponent never died but was still there on the ground. Maybe they got Aegis from a teammate during the stomp? I was just surprised it happened so often last night.

you can’t block a stomp.

that happens because either you or the downed player lagged, and their downed body isn’t where you see them. they’re basically desynced, the only way to finish them when that happens is to autoattack them down.

i like how he blew all his dodges at the start of the fight, it’s as if he thinks evading will prevent phantasms from spawning.

20v20 is a GvG these days!! yikes. I’ve never been in a guild with 20 peeps online at once.

Anything less and they’re afraid they might actually have to have a little bit more skills at playing their professions.

i’ve not seen anyone suck another guilds kitten so hard.

in my solo and 2 man roaming so far, i’ve not encounted anyone from agg with exceptional skill. granted they didn’t die as easily as bads, but died nevertheless.

i guess thats why they wont go under 20v20 gvg, probably rely heavily on group synergy rather than individual skill.

No way vertical range counts. On a flat map with radar zoomed in, I can port to about the corner from the center. Have a commander sit at a position sometime to try this out. In the NW tower, any borderland, you can drop a portal from that ledge behind the lords room, and run all the way down to NW camp, and still port up from about the edge of the radar. In the two cases one has negligable z-change, while the other has considerable z-change.

Agree the UI needs to be improved. Frankly I think the portal should exit portal should not be permitted to be placed if you are out of portal range. That would be a super easy fix.

Vertical range does count. And it can be deceptive. Like when portaling from outer south gate of hills to near south inner, the range is significantly reduced because of the stairs.

I don’t think it factors vertical at a 1:1 ratio though

it is a 1:1 ratio, it’s just really hard to judge vertical distance due to how the map layout is designed. a high cliff looks higher than it actually would be if you laid it out flat infront of you.

there are many places in the world you can test this. in both wvw and pve maps. just find a high drop, where you can run down and be at the same place, but directly under. that way the only distance vertical. for example the giant karka spiral.

Every other class has forced a team to save some kind of utility just to stomp them, costing an aegis/stability/teleport which could have otherwise been used for their own benefit, the mesmer cost the other team absolutely nothing provided they actually know how to stomp.

mesmer down state is not the worst in the game.

the down #2 is a near guarantee anti stomp that can delay a kill.

Because of this guarentee, mesmer down state is just as good as a guard.

Warrior’s downed state is not as bad as eng’s… it’s one of the better ones. you use #2 to delay a person long enough to pop #3. Being able to get up again and use all your skills and move around is pretty epic.

That being said, mesmer’s downed skills aren’t great aren’t super horrid. My only gripe is that #2 doesn’t move you AWAY from the target. Please at least make it 180 degrees in the other direction so that I don’t tele into the middle of a group -.-

if you actually tested the warrior down state #2 is not an instant. Its a single hit 1sec cast knockdown.

Most warriors rarely get the chance to use #3 and they will not rally unless they are trait for vengence

For these two reasons, mesmer down state is so much better

Actually by default the warriors vengeance has ~50% chance to rez you when you kill something, the trait just makes it 100%, so vengeance is pretty freaking good and in team fights where a ton of people are dying while you’re still up and fighting it’s pretty kittening good even without the trait.

That being said, good kittening luck getting to the point of getting Vengeance off, most people will NOT allow a warrior to use that ability lol.

tbh i’d say the mesmer downed state is probably more on par with the rangers due to our phantasms and illusions keep at it while we’re downed.

I been playing warrior for over 40 hours in pvp. I never res after an player kill. Yes, I killed people with a warrior with vengence and I still died

you can definitely rally after vengeance from players, without the trait.

im asking this because many players say that condition dmg for mesmer is not best stat to go for in PVE.
soo my question is which of these 3 builds will maximise my dmg is it better to go for power? crit? or leave the way it is? i know its optional and everything depends on playstyle but atm im pretty confused and would apriciate professional’s advice.

PS. I don’t care about survivability. I don’t Die easily

As for weapons s/p im also not sure about this combo I want to know if there is better choice for example focus in offhand or smth like that. Thanks in advance

if you dont care about not shattering, then mantra build gives the highest damage. but if you’re going for this build, then you basically have to stay at max range with GS. otherwise you die alot, even if you time dodges perfectly.

you would be using ranged attacks 90% of the time. it almost doesn’t matter what your second weapon set it.

u dont need phantasmal fury in your build, replace it for sword cd
and not so good runes, better take air or centaur

he’s trying to maximize pve damage. theres absolutely no need to take sword cooldown.

he already have gs cooldown.

i would only change shatter recharge to elasticity. really boosts mirror blade damage alot(even with the recent bounce changes), especially with it being 5s cd.

as for runes, use ruby orbs, and sigil of fire on GS

Gonna test the down skill stuff now. In the meantime, the #2 skill summons a clone. You need a target to summon most clones. You also have to have line-of-sight and not be blinded or summon on a blocking opponent. How is that a guaranteed interrupt?

true that you need a target, but you do NOT get blocked by line of sight, blind,block, anything.

you will always be able to cloak with #2 as long as you have a target, even if the target is like miles away, or even invuln

Totally wrong. Being interrupted by another class’ #2 would add a minumum of 1 extra second, sometimes more, meaning 2.9 second stomp, interrupt then 3 second stomp. Ours adds far less and does not require blowing a utility to gain stability or teleport in order to counter.

It’s the least punishing downed ability by comparison to any other class.

except other classes #2 can be avoided completely by blind/invuln/aegis/stability/blink/stealth.

meaning you can’t interrupt the first stomp. this is why people say mesmers #2 is 100% guaranteed to interrupt first stomp., the ONLY other class that can do this is elementalists, but their #3 is terrible.

I’ve seen illusionary rogues one shot people, my ranger (not even remotely glassy) being one of them…. And I fail to see how being able to stack an insanely high amount of confusion through you and your clone is bad, AND you get a guaranteed stomp interrupt regardless of if they go invuln or w/e.

I think it’s more of a L2P problem…

You’re totally right about L2p, if you consider decoy a guaranteed interrupt then I’d advise you to start learning

Well then point proven. You obviously didnt read first post, so here it is again in plain terms;

What you are doing: Try to stomp mesmer/they cast decoy#2/your stomp misses/cry

What you should be doing: Try to stomp mesmer/they cast decoy#2/you hit esc when they start to cast/hit stomp again/win

It’s not our fault if you aren’t doing anything to improve your own performance.

the point is, as long as you wait until the last second, their first stomp attempt, which takes 3 seconds, will not kill you.

and they have to restomp.

pressing esc after you spent 2.9 seconds in the stomp animation is the same as interrupting the stomp. you have to stomp again, effectively having to stomp twice regardless of what you do.

what you are saying is only true if the mesmer is bad, and decoys too soon.

Unless that change was extremely recent, it always has for me.

this has never been the case. you’re probably mistaking damage done by illusions themselves (shatter damage included) or inflight projectiles, rather than the attacks that illusions do.

the autoattacks that clones and phantasms do have never counted as your own damage.

The problem with #1 is the change to confusion. Many times I’ve been downed and in battles of attrition, only to lose because I couldn’t squeak out 10 more damage. The confusion nerf will only make that worse.

I’d be okay with #2 if it was a guaranteed teleport AWAY from the target AND the mesmer stayed stealthed the entire time limit, regardless of what the clone does. There’s no point in having a stealth ability if the clone always breaks it before the time limit is up.

Skill #3 is fine as is. That thing hits like a mac truck carrying hydrogen bombs! If you manage to get a clean hit and still can’t kill your opponent, you were going to die anyway.

Skill #4 has a problem that I have with ALL professions. It heals way too slowly. It’s extremely rare that I’m able to get myself back up from using it while in battle. It’s even worse if everything around you is dead and you have to use it to get back up. It just takes way to long.

I’ve been here since bwe2 and I can attest that, at one point, it did remove all at once. I don’t mind the change though. I find that the present version is highly effective against enemies that constantly reapply boons/conditions so it’s a decent trade off.

it means you would have a very quick passive clone generation, meaning traits that boost your stats based on number of clones out would be more effective.

as well as traits that give conditions/confusion on clone death. it would boost condition damage on scepter decently.

it does little else.

Oh my god. No, do not ask for a range indicator. Clones were asked to target ranger pets, and in this patch clones become “bounce-able targets” royally screwing GS#2.

Ask for a range indicator and…something horrible and unintended will happen. Like…“vertical range” is now considered.

Reading these I wonder if the people that defend this food would be okay with food that reduced all incoming physical damage by 40%. If you play conditions, this food ruins you completely, especially in conjunction with the runes. It, much like the plus 40% condition duration food is grossly over budget on what it does, and a near requirement if you don’t want to worry about conditions.

Just make it reduce base duration, not total duration and it is fine. Then it works like the offensive variant, which again is too powerful compared to other ways to get duration, but would at least be less insane.

They should have a food that removes armor. -clothes on rennoko, suddenly rennoko has no clothes.

the top 1% of any tier or any server is roughly at the same skill level. but in terms of numbers, that 1% might be 20 times larger in T1 than T3. thats where the true difference lies. numbers

if you guys havent caught on yet, you get 5 seconds of invuln after you respawn at the waypoint.

is this not enough? if you didnt want to be pulled by mesmers, stick tot he back wall, and you are out of range of pulls.

in wvw, you use staff as a backup weapon most of the time, and with most builds. you basically switch to it for the oh kitten chaos storm/armor or to interrupt a res.

in spvp, staff is great, since it’s all control point based, its fine if they shoot you from range, they’re not on the point and you are. just take advantage of los.
