shatter builds will always be better in pvp, compared to phantasm builds.
not only in terms of damage, but utility
me and my guild of 5 will transfer if you mail us a precursor each.
we routinely wipe enemies 2-3 times our size.
they havent changed anything to how invis works. channeled abilities have always been able to hit stealthed targets if they use the skill before you stealth.
he’s in a T1 server, <5 man roaming doesnt work, zergs everywhere.
I hope we get out of this tier soon.
Though other people may criticize you SBI and CD, I am not going to. I see some positive stuff going by you guys. Maybe work on your open field tactics a bit. And some siege type stuff. But I have seen people in T2 play worse than both of your servers.
its only natural, the higher tiers have more population, therefore more people rely on sitting in zergs to get things done, which means lower average individual skill.
therefore you people saying if somehow ‘stacking’ stealth is affected is misinformed. no stealth skills ‘stack’ with each other except for shadow refuge.
In a future patch Thieves are going to get the reveal debuff when stealth ends, and they are debating whether it should apply to Mesmers as well. My thoughts is that it is pointless as it would only affect Veil double run-through: nerfing a already rather weak skill, as it were; and would only make sense if they plan to buff Mesmer stealth.
if what you say is true, then it will affect a whole lot more than just veil. it means you can’t chains stealths together at all. there will always be a full 3 seconds of someone unstealthed after they stealth.
this is not the case atm, if you time yourself right, you can chain stealth such that you’re only unstealthed between stealth skills for a split second.
its only affected if you break stealth by damage.
dont break stealth and you wont get revealed status, and you can chain as many stealths together as you want.
ALL classes can get the revealed debuff.
you only get the revealed debuff if you break your stealth by doing damage somehow.
if you let your stealth run out naturally you wont get revealed after it ends.
therefore you people saying if somehow ‘stacking’ stealth is affected is misinformed. no stealth skills ‘stack’ with each other except for shadow refuge.
mesmers could never stealth, then use another stealth and have it stack in duration before letting the first stealth run out. if you want to chain stealths, you have to let each one run out naturally first.
nothing has been changed to how reveal or stealths worked in this patch.
single file lines
why not fight club all the time every day, those that want to go pick a bl and sit there until someone shows up
@Solori
Are you sure about the blind? Like Accelerion said, Shadow refuge also cancel stomp.
I fought a team in tPvP that kept using this tactic.
And Shadow Refuge doesn’t cast blind.
Doesn’t really matter whether it blinds or not, the fact is, even if you get skill 2 off with a Mesmer it does NOT guarantee you won’t be spiked/stomped, whatever. If your skill 2 ports you anywhere close to your original position, you will die, stealth or not.
Whether this is a bug or is intentional is a different matter, this is how it currently functions though, and survival is based on the RNG of landing in the right position because you cannot chose where you port to.
using #2 as mesmer GUARANTEES a stomp interrupt, no matter where you randomly teleport to. this is a fact.
if you still get finished, then it means you are doing it wrong, you are either attacking after you stealth, which unstealths you, or you are using the skill too early.
if you use #2 AFTER the person starts the stomp animation, then you will NEVER unstealth before the animation finishes.
Question!
Hypothetically speaking, if I were to dip into the Sapphire Sanctum jumping puzzle this week, being from Stormbluff, would I be immediately whacked upon discovery or do I at least get to get to finish it and grab the chest before I am murdered?
theres alot of carebears on mag that do jp, i’d be more worried about CD, they love jp fights.
that being said, expect to get chased down and killed if you see CAMP
using #2 on mesmer will always 100% gaurentee to stop the initial stomp, no matter where you get teleported to.
do people still not realize you cant be stomped when you’re stealthed?
mesmer downed state is very strong, but i dont think its a very good idea to nerf it, instead anet should just buff the downed states of warriors and engies, atleast make their #2 interrupt multiple people.
it really depends on what setups the rest of your group is.
out of 5 people, you only really need 1, maybe 2 full GC for the burst damage, 1 full condition build, and 2-3 pvt/support builds
pick a role your small group doesn’t have yet, and spec for it.
something like 1gc mesmer/thief, necro, shout hammer war, shout guardian, dd ele.

Nope. I updated my original post. Apparently a mesmer can hit you for that much damage from the downed state using “Phantasmal Rogue” according to someone in that thread.
This is obviously a bug and needs to be fixed. There’s no way that a player should be dealing up to 8k in damage from the downed state.
its not a bug, its basically a clone that uses backstab, if it spawns behind you, and crits, you’ll get hit for that much if not more depending on the mesmers spec.
As soon as someone uses “I stop paying attention…” as any part of their argument, 99 times out of 100 I stop paying attention right there.
the bad apples is what gives a server character
they need to either make it be a blast finisher, or make it so the boon striped is transferred back to you.
that way if you hit the max 5 targets, you can potentially get 5 boons back.
the berserker is still a whirl finisher, I literally just saw it shoot off lightning bolts.
regardless if theres bugs with the skill, it’s still makes mesmers the most OP class underwater, especially if you have elasticity.
i wouldn’t be complaining about it, or anet will go kitten it up.
does TC like camping jp? I miss CD and ebay, they were avid campers.
its op as kitten, and so fun to troll random zergs with it. run in the middle of 5 guys and watch them all slowly die.
3 second stealth every 4 seconds, while blinding and doing good damage.
for those that havent figured it out, you can use any skill with a cast time to cancel the cooldown. autoattacking for example, though you have to be careful to not hit anyone, or you get unstealthed.
how is it every 7 seconds? you get a blind every 4 seconds, and a burn every 4 seconds, just those 2 are seperated by 3 seconds of stealth. you still get the effect every 4 seconds.
By definition every 4 seconds means…
every… 4… seconds.
This means that you are casting The Prestige every 4 seconds, not every 4 seconds AFTER it ends. It has a 7 second cooldown or a 4 second DOWNTIME. there is a difference.
i’m casting the skill every 4 seconds. do you know what you’re saying?
i press the skill, wait 4 seconds, then i press skill again, repeat forever.
where are you getting 7 seconds? the 4 second cooldown starts as soon as you activate the skill, NOT after the skill ends.
Right, and if you deal damage with the skill, you get the stealth cooldown…
which is 3 seconds. you stealth again when you can use the skill again.
you DONT get the stealth cooldown from coming OUT of the skill.

curtain was never a ethereal field, its a light field.

cd and ebay loves the jp, so much more so than anyone else i’ve seen.
i’ve been having a great time this match up so far.
confusion mesmers are super strong in 1v1’s and zerg v zergs.
anything inbetween is not a big deal, as you have teammates to pick up the slack of you not attacking.
you know whats NOT a way to fix it? asking to be matched against any other server.
asking for a different matchup will result in a similar or harder stomp.
i’m glad emery bay has so many people that show up to fight clubs, every other match up is like 20 mag, and 3 from other server.
mag has forums?
if you trait as a shatter mesmer(IP), then positioning is one of the most important skills you have to master to be good.
FA members have larger d’s on average than Maguuma and DB. DB’s d size is slightly greater than Maguuma. Maguuma has the smallest d’s of all!
Let’s all jo on some bee fur to calm down a bit!! )My spirit animal is a Brown Bear so please don’t be rude.(
are we talking like dick wise?
Like they said above. You’ll also notice time warp acts like a glamor field but gets no cd reduction. Just the way the class is put together. Oh well.
you mean ethereal field.
glamours are a classification of a set of utility skills, nothing more
i’m best mesmer, and i think they should make confusion damage the same as spvp.
the underwater trident is also op as kitten now, i’ll be surprised if it doesnt get nerfed next patch.
wait… so is that guy claiming that someone on mag made a char, named it similarly to a commander on FA, then proceeded to buy a commander icon for that char, to lure unsuspecting nubs into the JP to get geared? LOL
this is better than the guy from emery bay claiming large guilds on mag were committing credit card fraud to fill their queue’s with spies.
There is some terrible notion that Mag is full of elite players. This is very false, 90% of Mag is braindead and other 10% carries that 90%. GearWers2.

lol i liked the pic named “kitten everywhere”
everywhere indeed
glamors are a category of utility skills, like how they categorize signets, mantras etc.
so the only glamours are utilities
thats pretty nerdy
trash talking on forums is not the same thing as griefing in game or IRL
you are free to opt out of reading anything on the forums, and can choose to not participate in any of it.
Guess that sums it.
For these so called “hardcore PvPers” (I doubt they are more than trolls – see how they mostly play flavor of the month thieves and D/D eles), calling someone names and saying stuff about their mothers “is not griefing”. Says something about their age.
Apparently we should just opt out (of the official game forums I think it’s what he means) if we don’t like it. Smart. Kinda like a smoker saying “if you don’t want to inhale my smoke just stay away from me”.
How many other large scale MMOs have such a strict “no griefing policy ?” None that I know and I’m thankful for that. It’s our last refuge against the “internet toughs” that get their kicks by anonymously annoying other people. And now they want to turn it into the same cesspool that many other so called “competitive” PvP games have become.
Oh, I forgot to add a Lol at the end of my post. Seems it’s a l33t thing to do.
i’m not a smoker, but i’m not going to judge a smoker for doing it outside or in a smoking zone. I wouldn’t mind if they setup a special WvW section on these forums with more loose rules, and less moderation.
doesn’t that solve everyone’s complaints?
if you want to deal damage, the only 2 armor stat combo’s you should be looking at is berserkers for GS or rabid for staff. rampagers if you’re really adventurous, but not recommended for someone new.
if you’re good at the game, then just go kill people. doing EB jumping puzzle nets you badges as a reward AND gets you tons of kills along the way, win-win.
if you’re bad at the game, join your nearest zerg and sit in there and be bad. you get fewer badges this way.
i net about a badge every 4 kills.

There’s no rampant abuse going on, you’re just getting destroyed by a better server.
“Better”
Betterer?
Buttered
you need quick reactions.
dont shatter unless you know you have the thief immobilized.
let your illusions track/damage the thief since they attack as soon as they unstealth.
anticipate when they come out of stealth and counter cnd when possible.
the hardest thing to counter is their steal. if they manage to get it to connect, you’ll have a hard time killing them before they kill you.
the current system is working to a reasonable degree in ALL tiers except for T8.
using this new system would benefit T8, but would destroy any semblance of balance or stability in all other tiers. it’s not going to happen.
I get up a lot more often on my thief than my mesmer, but that’s because the teleport can be aimed (instead of random for mesmer) and against low skill opponents who let you sit around long enough for the cooldown to ready, you can avoid two stomps.
I understand that people complain about mesmers. I play a mesmer because they are really kitten annoying and can do some real damage, but I rarely hear complaints about the mesmer downed state. I rarely survive going down on my Mesmer unless I have my guildies near me.
The thieves, just seem to have their way in this game, and total solo if they want.
because the majority of wvw players are baddies that dont know the mechanics of the game, or are just plain bad.
no decent player will say thieves down state skills are any more OP than ele or mesmers.
i vote leafy lass official ambassador to mag
If we were to function under the idea that the Glicko system is in fact working right, and the math is correct, we come to a vastly different problem before us.
Work with this for a moment, If the math is right, and the Glicko system is not the problem then the problem becomes that some worlds really don’t belong to any existing Tier.
Case in point. ST is at 900+ Point scale, but Tier 7 is a 1K+ point scale, and T8 is at 600+ Point Scale, thus SF does not really belong in T7 or, T8
Now it is these “transition” worlds, like SF that make the WULD system would work the best for, as they would be able to move between worlds they are close to, even if they don’t really belong in either of them.
This of course might be a problem of only having 28 worlds and trying to find perfect matches for 3 of them at a time, and ending up where you have 2 worlds that are close matches, and thus good for each other to fight, but there is no available 3rd world to mix with them without causing a blowout one way or the other.
Which in that situation, neither the system or the math is to blame, it is doing the best it can with what it has, it simply does not have the means to make a fair three way match because there is not enough worlds to form these fair matches.
In that vein, we might have to realize that there will never be such a thing as “even matches” using the existing worlds with their existing populations, and in that case, rotation of these “border” worlds is better then stagnating them in one tier or another, when they clearly belong to neither.
yes, except you can’t do this in broad generality. this problem only applies to a few tiers.
Nice Halo, but I think something about you using kitten Surfers’ is making youtube suggest I also want to view videos about ostomy bags.
actually i’m pretty sure the suggestions are mostly tailored to your viewing and browsing habits now. :8D?
that necro swiftness skill is also the biggest troll skill in the game.
