3am on a Friday and there is a Maguuma zerg on every single map. Wow.

yeah its pretty crazy, i don’t think SM and war has the population to make something like that happen.

i predict the random pubbies that transferred over from DR and borlis will leave once we get out of this tier and start losing every match up again. no big deal.

as far as i know, the trait that heals on mantras is ONLY on recharging the mantra, not per individual use. you dont get 3 heals per mantra use, you get 1. the only mantra that lets you spam heal is mantra of pain, even then, its a heal every 5 seconds or so.

same with the trait that removes condition on heal, it’s for recharging mantra, not per use.

So, not that they were a very special guild on BP but they were numbers, and they probably gave away our strat. Foxlife bailed to mag for more coat tail jumping.

u can dodge and block it.. ive had it done multiple times as im a GS power build mesmer in spvp.. its rediculous how they made it like that now.. used it on a warrior with his block skill up. my zerker didnt even spawn.. it said BLOCK….. x.x

you can’t dodge or block the creation, only the spin attack.

only way to negate the creation is to blind or go invuln

evade is not the same status effect as invuln

So this may or may not be the right place for this but TBH I dont really care, as some of you may have noticed , Maguumans and opponents alike, Maguuma has picked up a new guild, there has been alot of trash talking to and about this guild over the weeks on the forums (including myself) but in all honesty they have been a hell of alot of fun to fight, they share our strategic philosophy of focusing on borderlands maps and working our way outward as manpower dictates and many of us are glad they are on our team now. Welcome to Maguuma Shadowmoon.

i saw that too, they were one of the best guilds, skillwise, on emermy bay. wonder why they left them.

Also, traited with +20 % hp and Signet of Illusions (even with the bug), it tanks really well. Add it with Dwayna or Water rune and Water sigil. It’s strange, I still don’t understand how it works, but I ended up with 2 defender sometimes and they are tank champion. I think it’s a 3 person chain. Party/Your damage -> first Defender -> second Defender.

the wiki says the reduced damage only works if you have 1 defender out.

Great Sword Training reduces the cool down of great sword skills, which means you can summon the Illusionary berserker faster. Illusion Celerity makes summoning skills recharge faster. Both of these skills alone reduce the summoning skill cool down on illusionary berserker, but together only one seems to be in effect, so they don’t stack. On a mesmer using a great sword with none of these trait skills, the cool down is 20 seconds to be able to reuse and resummon an illusionary berserker. With just one of the skills the cool down is reduced to 16 seconds (20% as the skills claim). And with both the two, the cool down should be 12 seconds, but it is not 12 seconds its only 16. The trait skills for summoning the illusionary berserker don’t seem to stack.

I am aware that great sword training states that it reduces the recharge of great sword skills by 20%. Summoning the illusionary berserker is a great sword skill so the cool down for that skill should be reduced, and it is, but if you combine the great sword training skill trait with Illusion Celerity, which states that illusion summoning skills recharge 20% faster, there should be a total 40% faster skill recharge for the illusionary berserker. This doesn’t seem to work and my question is, are they supposed to stack or not?

with both traits, the cooldown on berserker IS 12 seconds

i dont see what the big deal is, you out numbered them in all those screenshots. and they got picked off by your zerg a few times.

Wasnt outnumbered mate. There was solid group of OG. Wasnt running a zerg, those upgrade randoms in there was getting ganked by the “too few OG” when my lil group showed up. They didnt seem to have a problem vs those 4-5 upgrades….they failed miserably when they ran into even terms. As to zergs though…nice fat one formed up at the Bay to push us back after we chased them into the gates where they played gate portal fighting.

Again…ribbing aside. No harm meant just some forum fun. OG you guys got some nice teamwork and know your classes. I like how you chain certain skills for max benefit for your team. awesome fun.

yeah it wasn’t out numbered if it was just your group there fighting them, but you had randoms there fighting as well. you can’t not count them when you’re talking about out numbering someone or not lol

edit: upon closer inspection, it shows 6-7 ungrouped+5 of your group in all of those screenshots

Just ran into Mag’s [OG]…found it hugely lacking. They had us on numbers, but we wiped em not once, not twice..but three times. Chased them all the way to their spawn where it took repeated spawn run backs to finally drop us. Before they up and go chatterin falsehoods…Pics are worth a thousand words eh. LARP…..i think i’ll just have to side with u all on this topic as the 5 man i was with wasnt even out to field fight and we typically dont do field fighting. So in that sense, u can call us nubs at it. =)

1 – OG wipe
2- they run to their spawn
3 – oooo….invulnerable
4 – oooo…invulnerable again
5 – another OG wipe

Good fights tho, was real fun. But now before one of u OG start the rant posting about “lets fight club 5v5” and such. well mate all i can say is this….we found u, we fought u, u ran to spawn to hide until u could get ur teamates back from spawn, u wiped again…back to invulnerable spot to attack from there. Again..another wipe…wasnt until u pulled in a nice near 3:1 odds that u got us.

All kiddin and ribbin aside though..was nice fights with you. Props to ur skills and teamwork.

i dont get it, your screenshots show no more than 4 OG at any given time, and it clearly shows you having a group of 5, plus 2-3 ungrouped there fighting with you in most of the screenshots.

cast range of mirror blade is 1200, but bounce range is only 600. you weren’t in range to recieve the bounces or they were bouncing to someone else.

as for dropping stacks quickly, might stacks in intensity, not duration.

But I do find it funny how much ire is directed towards us when mesmers have somehow fallen off the radar.

It is my personal goal to bring mesmer QQ back into style.

You found a nice build in the niche of crappy mesmers. However, it takes 0 skill to stack confusions and have your opponent kill themselves because of it.

Sounds like your upset I speak the truth honestly. No was like “hey that mesmer is really good”, they are more like “oh hey its that lame confusion mesmer again”.

Some of the [FTF] guardians kept duelling me and started getting some seriously intense fights going. One managed to beat me once. Maybe you should add some cond mitigation to your skill bar and learn how to dodgeroll when 3 clones come barrelling at you.

almost every mesmer is a ‘confusion mesmer’ even those that dont run cond builds are confusion mesmers.

i’m full berserker GC mesmer and i give you 10 stacks of confusion np.

If you anticipate the 100blades (see the warrior running towards you) and you have the right utility skills on your hotbar then yeah its L2P. If you do not see the warrior or you simply dont have the utility skill ready/off cooldown then its definately not L2P, then it becomes almost impossible to avoid.

the problem is with the first part of your statement, if you see a warrior charging towards you, and you have cooldowns or dodge up, then yes, it’s also l2p.

however the difference between warrior 100b combo and thief instant mug/cnd combo is you have maybe 0.1s, if that to counter it. the fact that thiefs can blink 1200 range to do mug/cnd instantly is not a l2p issue. no other GC build for any class is able to front load their damage that quickly from that range.

1200 with what?
The utility skill Shadowstep? no thief will waste a skill like that for a burst.
Steal? it’s 900 range, 1200 for a major trait that no one takes anyways.

Plus if you didn’t notice it to begin with, it wouldn’t matter if the GC was 1200 or 1 range away, or going to eat it, what would you say if you didn’t see the warrior coming and/or your "ohkitten skills were on CD?

i would say oh well, he deserved the kill. the problem is even if you see the thief coming, you aren’t going to be able to anticipate when he steal/cnd’s you, since those 2 actions are instant. the ONLY way to anticipate it if they use a setup skill like basilisk venom or something, but generally, you dont need it to secure a kill against another GC.

if all your cooldowns are up, and you see a thief coming, you should be able to counter it if you have a reasonable reaction time. this is not the case atm with the instant mug/cnd damage each doing up to 7k on another GC.

Backstab builds aren’t strong in 1v1 situations, especially not when you’re expecting the Thief.

A lot of the apparent OPness of the Backstab combo comes with the Steal Shadowstep that allows a Thief to pounce a target quite unexpectedly. It allows them to catch people off guard quite a lot.

In many ways 100 Blades is very similar. Not too powerful when expecting it and easy to counter if you know it’s coming, but it will still cause a near instant death when catching you off guard or unprepared.

But unlike Steal, Bullcharge doesn’t instantly teleport you to your target. There’s an animation and just a little more time to react.

Warriors also tend to be more obvious targets and not slip in and out of Stealth constantly making them easier to observe and follow.

the steal shadowstep needs to be telegraphed in some way. i dont mind being oneshot, but not being able to time an appropriate counter because the combo happens instantly at 1200 range is kitten

full berserker glass cannon is fine in exp dungeons and fotm, you just have to know the mechanics of the bosses and trash inside and out.

as long as you’re building berserker gear, they are both good in certain situations, shatter perhaps more versatile, but requires more effort to play well.

comparing it to shadow refuge is bad, since it requires you to stay in the circle to get the stealth, and lose it if you leave. its countered extremely easily with knockbacks and aoe in the circle.

The additional bounce trait in the illusions line also does not apply to clones for some reason when it should.

If someone is up a flight of stairs, and your attacks are hitting – summoning iBerserker is usually obstructed unless camera is panned all the way up – which is troublesome keeping up with those annoying thieves

the difference is GS attacks are not projectiles, and they shoot in a straight line.

other classes ranged weapon are all projectiles, and many of them arc, by passing the direct los restrictions. of course this also means they can be reflected, unlike GS attack, which can never be reflected.

im not saying los in general is ok, there needs to be ALOT of work done on los obstructions on even slightly uneven terrain.

Yeah I believe they’re from CD. Or at least, were on CD when they did the same stuff to us.

one of them that were/still on CD displaying how its done, though i think anet has patched that specific exploit.

edit: ifyou look at his other recent videos, it’s pretty kitten anet really needs to step it up in fixing these things.

Anyone in mag know who this guild is? No walls or gates down, and we haven’t let anyone into inner area of hills on our borders since that new build.

i recognize that hacker guild from crystal desert when we faced them some weeks ago. i’m pretty sure during that matchup a couple mag players caught these same players jumping tower walls, glitching keeps etc. it’s a shame they hopped servers.

i’m reporting every person from this guild i see.

Defensive time warp is highly underrated, you will become very loved in PvP if you use it for reviving people in clutch situations.

Time Warp, Chaos Storm on your ally for the aegis, get him up almost instantly while taking no damage.

And since I mentioned that, defensive Chaos Storm in itself is highly underrated, all Mesmers need to realize how strong it is for the aegis. It is not just a single aegis, it can block multiple attacks for its duration, it is basically invulnerability (unless this changed recently, I haven’t been on for a week or so).

the only buff chaos storm reliably gives is protection, not aegis.

dodge INTO the shatters, not away from.

use heavy reliable burst, AKA thieves. or heavy sustained conditions and high toughness. few mesmers have more than 1, if any condition removal (wvw)

as of the fix, my berserker has never missed an attack on the first or second, or any spin after.

the damage has been restored to what it was. i’ve done extensive testing to make sure this was the case.

the only issue i see now is the zerker dies alot more before it gets its first attack off, due to the delay, where there was none before.

if you see differences in damage you must have changed something in your spec. or are things different in spvp? i haven’t tested on dummies, but in pve and wvw, everything is as its supposed to be.

A lot of words and arguements, this is simply a number and opinion topic.

I had 2200 condition damage last night for quite a few seconds. Is that ok? That’s not for me to decide.

A 10 second buff is easily brought to 15 with a few trait and/or rune investments. I think max we can achieve is 18 seconds? Either Is pretty long as far as boon duration goes.

It takes 3 dodges, 2 utilites, and 4 powers to produce a lot of might. It’s really not as much of a time investment as it might seem.

Its a good change in that it give spike to non-power traiting mesmers (see shorter condition durations)

It’s a bad change in that it helps retain a point distribution (20-20-0-0-30) that is often seen (and might be) as the best distribution. It also pushes mesmer more towards shatter-spamming instead of a direction that encourages timely shattering.

if you simply shatter spam, it’s really not doing anything for you. you manage to get your might up to 20+ stacks for a couple seconds, but you spent 3 shatters, 2 utilities and all your weapon cooldowns to get it. what now? you have no significant skills to use to take advantage of your might buffs.

for roaming to be a legit strat, they need to take out downed state. only then can you successfully take on larger numbers with a small group.
